Ashghan Hound by Laura Garabedian
The Ashghan Hound is known for being one of the fiercest hunters and fastest in the forest, they are formidable opponents in the chase.
About my TreeCreatures: When I began my freelance career I began it with road trips. Driving from city to city the mind wanders on the open road. And the kudzu covered mounds of trees crept and crawled by the roadside, conjuring the forms of monolithic animals. I always saw, in these vast forest borders, enormous bears, coyotes, and wolves wandering slowly in a strange forested way. Within my first year of this venture I had some ask for a tattoo design of a ‘wolf made of trees’ and suddenly the walking forests had a form. Original is 9″x12″ Ink on Bristol, signed in the lower left – this art comes unframed

Award Eligibility Post For 2017
Hey, since people are posting “things I wrote this year” for award purposes, here’s my list. No novellas this year! I realized that I didn’t get a Cupcake out, but that’s okay, I have one planned for next year.
Novels:
Love Match vol. 1 (January, FurPlanet) – My Patreon patrons have been watching this story unfold for years and it’s fun to see everyone else discovering it.
Camouflage (December, FurPlanet) – Originally drafted on this blog several years ago, finally edited and published. I really loved researching the 1500s and building the world of this story, and it’s such a thrill to see it in print with some beautiful illustrations by Rukis. I think this book has one of my favorite endings of anything I’ve written–not just the last few paragraphs but the last few chapters.
under the name Tim Susman:
The Tower and the Fox (July, Argyll Productions) – Really excited about this one. After seven years of planning and writing and rewriting, I finally got the Calatians series launched. The second book is written and ready and the third is plotted, and I can’t wait to get them out. Laura Garabedian’s art is just perfect for it, too.
  Short stories:
“Personal History,” in ROAR vol. 8 (FurPlanet, July) – Love this story. It’s one of those stories whose last thread came together as I was prepping it for submission and I’m happy I took exactly as much time as needed to get it finished.
“Who Walks With Monsters,” in Arcana (Thurston Howl, November) – Backstory from the world of “Unfinished Business,” my story in Heat 12.

"Bali Starling ACEO" by Laura Garabedian 2.5"x3.5" oil on panel Original Available Bali starlings are always such chipper little birds to behold. I've seen them in a lot of zoos and aviaries and they always seem to be up among the backlit leaves and so that is where I chose to place my bird for this month. High among the branches with light streaming through the leaves making a gold halo around the little bright bird.

Featured artist - Laura Garabedian Art is a way for me to communicate my love of the natural world and the fantasy I see within it. I think that the creation of a narrative around wildlife and fantastical animals can lead people to see the world and the many lives encompassed within it with more compassion and joy, returning the wonder of childlike curiosity to their lives. I find that travel lets me add depth and character to my painting that inform the life of the creatures within. I enjoy employing abstract backgrounds with minutely detailed subjects. The duality of the abstract work with small areas of focus lets the viewer fill in parts of strange color fields with their own story. My inspiration from nature and the narratives I like to weave around the strange beasts in my paintings lets me tell soundless stories to those who wish to explore them. In my paintings, bears covered in moss and trailing mushrooms emerge from the mist, gryphons dive from heights unknown with jewelry trailing them, and sphinxes ask questions unheard from behind blank masks. Where they come from, and what they want to say is left for those who watch them to determine. I hope through my work people can find a bit of mystery, of that wonder you have as a child making shapes in clouds, imagining what monster is in the closet, and making each walk in the woods a journey that may take them to Narnia, to Middle Earth, or to a world of their own making. Tower and the Fox at AC! (also ROAR 8)
If you are heading to AnthroCon this weekend, have a great time! You will not see me there, but you can purchase my newest novel, The Tower and the Fox, with Laura Garabedian’s lovely artwork (she will also be at AC; go say hi to her and get her to sign your book!) from the FurPlanet table. And while you’re there, check out ROAR 8, which has a story of mine in it (“Personal History”) that I’m quite proud of, which is in fact the story illustrated on the cover by BlackTeagan.
If you’re NOT heading to AnthroCon, you can still get in on the book action. The link above goes to FurPlanet; you can also pre-order it RIGHT NOW on Amazon. Regardless of where you get it, leaving a review on Amazon is super helpful, especially to this first-in-a-series book under a different name. The more notice it gets, the more we’ll be able to build on that for the next one.
Thank you guys for checking the books out, and have a great AC! I’ll make it back one of these years.

Unicorns in Space by Laura Garabedian
Maybe the reason we don’t see unicorns anymore is that they moved on to galaxy’s far, far, away…
Meanwhile a friend told me that apparently sparkly unicorn bums can pass on good luck, so… maybe you need a sparkly unicorn for good luck? For the new year? Alas, this is one of a kind and will grace the wall of just one fortunate unicorn lover. Will it be you?
This piece is approximately 4″x4″ on wood painted with watercolor and gouache, it comes unframed.

Aussie-Tree by Laura Garabedian
Aussie-Tree’s are known to be tempestuous trees. while they bounce about in joyous gales of their own making they are difficult to picnic under as they are known to bounce after wayward birds if they feel so inclined.

Glints in the Green by Laura Garabedian
Shimmering in and out of the leaves leopards can disappear as quickly as they appear… I had the joy of seeing a leopard while in Botwana years ago and the memory of how quickly it disappeared into the foliage will haunt me forever.
