im marie, but i go by various names online. Mars or Mari also works, but you can literally call me anything and ill probably respond

im not the most tumblr knowledgeable, ive had an account since 2020 but i didnt start using it until recently.

this started out as an aesthetic account but it really just trailed off after a while and i post wtv

sailor moon (1992)

I'm so glad I got around to watching this anime! I feel like a lot of pop culture is inspired directly from Sailor Moon. The one example I can personally attest to is Miraculous Ladybug! I didn't realize how similar the two were until I watched the assigned episodes, but it's very clear now. Both shows feature a girl with magical powers possessed from jewelry, who also have a mysterious sidekick who helps them along the way. Sailor Moon is also the most recognizable magical girl show, so it was amazing to see it for the first time.

I will say, stylistically the anime is so pleasing to look at. The pastel colors and the pleasing character design really immerse viewers into the world. The pinks, purples, and blues are really so iconic and really drive a contrast between the good guys and bad guys. Furthermore, I like how this anime seems to embrace feminine characteristics in it's design. It feels like it was exclusively made for girls, or people who are feminine presenting.

More than the style and concept, Usagi herself embodies the characteristics of women that society seems to try and suppress or look down upon. She even seems like the kind of girl that everyone makes fun of. She can be pretty emotional and clumsy, and she isn't the smartest. I'm not saying women are naturally clumsy or dumb, but I am saying that women are constantly underestimated and belittled to the point that some may internalize the stereotypes.

I think my favorite scene was when Usagi started crying and that alone defeated the bad guys. It showed that being emotional - which is seen as a feminine (and therefore inferior) trait - is okay, and can be helpful. The anime shows that if one embraces everything that makes one feminine, whatever that means to them, they can become powerful. I think this anime is really healing for little girls who may have watched it during the time.

I love bug LPS so much!! My favorite is bee 2203… I only recently found out there’s ants actually!! Do u know how many types of bugs there are in lps?

to my knowledge there's around ten or eleven different types of bugs/insects :o) the ones here are butterfly #397, ladybug #1143, spider #991, caterpillar #1993, firefly #2595, and bee #2203. butterfly #397 comes in the 'pets arounds the world multi-pack from 2007, others pets in this pack include leopard #388, husky #386, and shorthair cat #391 among others. ladybug #1143 comes in the 'outdoor adventure pets' multi-pack from 2010(?) other pets in this pack include chihuahua #1138, frog #1140, and octopus #1146 among others. spider #991 is apart of the 'happiest pets' series (released in maybe 2010? 2011?) and comes in a pairs pack alongside suger glider #990 :o) caterpillar #1993 is apart of the seasonal 'easter eggs' series - i don't know very much about this series. the set that this caterpillar comes in contains five other pets (i think..?) them being frog #1991, horse #1992, cat #1994, chick #1995, and chow #1996 :o) firefly #2595 is one of the forty seven wave six blind bag pets from generation three !! other obtainable pets include bear #2584, owl #2587, and dachshund #2597 among many others :o) and lastly, bee #2203 comes in the 'fashion & treats' blythe set. cat #2204, pig #2205, rat #2206, and polar bear #2298 are the four other pets in this set, along with blythe of course (who's ID is #B29)

ladybug / jutes: i've been shamazing a lot of stuff. and i liked hearing a couple of songs of this album the other day, it captures the rocky band vibes perfectly in my opinion

fences / destroy boys: yeah! destroy them!! ah ahh ah ahhhh! this one i stole from my brother's spotify. let's all give him a round of applause for introducing me to good and new music every now and then

coming / david motion: from the end credits of 'orlando' (1992), what a funky journey that was!! this sounds perfect for being free at last.... i was also gonna download the end credits of 'fargo' (1996) but i wasnt convinced to keep them as a song to actually listen to, u know?

reckless chance / milky chance: a friend introduced me to milky chance in high school, but i lost the files ages ago. so when this song started on the radio the other day, i instantly recognized the vocals and It All Came Back To Me. but this one feels a tad different, maybe a bit more electronic? not sure, gotta listen to the old stuff again

star walkin' / lil nas x: i trust and respect him as an artist, but please dont release those tiktok audios of songs that will take MONTHS to release in full nas:( but i forgive him because he got a buzzcut and he looks amazing. also unrelated, is orville peck releasing new music?? im EXCITED as well for that

personal update 9.16.23 🌻💕🐹

good things that happened this week:

finally got my wife some suspicious stew limited edition minecraft pringles. she had been disappointed to not be able to find them anywhere in the area but my work suddenly had them months late! she said they were pretty good :)

movie night with lilith ❤ (we watched creep 2!)

i made a big dinner i was really happy with from scratch. i made wayyy too much but it was so good and i felt so proud of myself

movie night with quint! pretty short mellow one but we watched style wars

halloween decoration thrifting with lilith! i took her to a really good st vinnies and a weird little goodwill she hadnt been to before and found sooo many cute things to decorate with, some new mugs for her collection, a toaster (shes been dying for one forever but we hadnt gotten around to it), a baseball cap with a ladybug holding a pride flag that says "produce pride" (probably an event but we cant dig anything up?), and a beautiful crystal splendor barbie (for $20!!!). we also saw plenty more cute and goofy mugs, the fattest coca cola bear plush, some prints of a teens digital anime girl fanart, and a turtle build-a-bear in a ninja costume with a clearly homemade orange tmnt bandana that we didnt take home but still enjoyed seeing. it was such a good day

bowling night with darren and lily! it really was a lovely time this week

had the first really good bagel ive had in a minute since we have a toaster now 😭 plus some strawberries. felt awesome

cel really thoughtfully sent me one of my favorite mellow albums (fief ii) when she knew i was feeling anxious which really made me smile

lilith went and picked us up a yummy dinner from beergarden :) she got the chicken sandwich shes been craving and i got garlic shrimp

It's a great week for dolls for me, because I was at a thrift shop today and found Ladybug, Cheer Jade, 1994 Tooth Fairy Barbie, and 1992 Bedtime Barbie! I rarely ever find dolls at the thrift shops closest to home, so to find four was wild! They're in pretty great condition other than needing a good hairstyling, and outfits for the first two. I can find Jade's outfit online, and for Ladybug, I'm thinking about customizing her into one of her powers that there's not a doll of(my sister suggested doing Ladybee, and YES)

Let's begin~

To start, this whole thing originated from when we watched Spider-Man: No Way Home. Literally the moment we got home we began plotting because we were so inspired

It started as a Spiderverse au (ala Into the Spiderverse) and devolved from there

We have involved elements from just about everything we have been collectively interested in over the last year.

Including but not limited to: Marvel, Ace Attorney, Miraculous Ladybug, The Magnus Archives, Danny Phantom, Ouran High School Host Club, a play we both played lead roles in, etc.

So many characters from these have been stolen and their names warped into off-brand versions of them :>

Meet the cast:

Octavian Otto Osborne (aka Tavi) (they/them)

Basics of the plot:

Chuck and Tavi were both gifted kids that went to live in the dorms at MIT at the age of 16. (Both being the same age, they were put in the same dorm)

And they were roommates!

Through hazing and exams, they eventually made it to graduation together. They aren't quite dating, but they also aren't not-dating, y'know? Simply oblivious but comfortable in eachother's company.

Tavi's parents are no-shows, of course. Chuck's family is there, and they greet Tavi warmly. (Tavi has totally been immersed into the family unit in all ways but name, even if they're still a bit uncomfortable).

Tavi leaves the ceremony and drives back home to find their parents' bodies on the floor, and a suspicious figure jumping out of the window. Their father was already dead but their mother told them "I love you," for the first time as she took her final breath.

They call the police and are immediately suspected of the murders and taken into custody. They acquire the help of Phoenix Lepht to defend them in court. (;>)

Chuck's spending time with their family at the ceremony after Tavi leaves and suddenly their mother falls ill, and they call an ambulance. She passes weeks later, leaving Chuck to help their dad take care of their 6 younger siblings. (There are 9 in total including Chuck)

Tavi is really going through it, and decides to take their time in their early 20s to go galavanting across the globe. Oscorp is put into the hands of one of the board members, a certain Toby Spark.

Meanwhile Chuck is back in their home town, taking care of siblings and in a very toxic relationship. After their siblings all start school they finally break off the relationship and move to New York for a fresh start. In 2018 they begin working at Oscorp, and quickly move up the ranks.

Tavi moves back to New York in 2020 and starts "working" at Oscorp. They can't really be fired, so they just work on whatever they want.

Meanwhile, Parker Peterson is having the worst week of his life. He goes on a field trip to Oscorp and gets bitten by a radioactive spider (one of Tavi's abandoned experiments) and gets powers. His uncle, his only guardian, is shot dead in a mugging gone wrong. Instead of being convinced to be a hero, he instead turns bitter and wants to use his new powers to cause harm. (As any angsty teenager would do ofc) Parker gets tossed from home to home in foster care. He gets a position as an intern at Oscorp.

Spider-Man starts causing havoc all over New York, but somehow the media all claim him to be a hero as he critically maims muggers and causes *so much* property damage.

Tavi is caught in the crossfire and gets pinned and skewered by some debris in a Spider-man attack. After recovering (and with one less limb than they started with) Tavi began working on a prosthetic arm for themself. But as Spider-Man continues to run amock, they become emboldened. Determined to stop Spider-Man. They convert their prosthetic arms into a set of five, armed to the teeth and each one paired with a semi-sentient AI which has the capacity of a toddler, or an excitable puppy. They start going around as their alter-ego persona, Doc Ock. They are dubbed a villain by the media, all except for J Jonah Jameson, who argues their worth.

Chuck and Tavi eventually cross paths at work, and Tavi gives Chuck the cold shoulder. They're salty that Chuck never reached out. Chuck reacts in kind and they eventually start a bit of a Rivalry.

Chuck eventually grows concerned that Tavi being constantly tired and injured. They manage to get Tavi to go out for coffee to question them about it. Spider-Man attacks, and Tavi breaks out their arms to fight him off.

Chuck gets separated from Tavi in the kerfuffle and is trapped under some rubble. They shout Tavi's name, calling them 'Tavi' instead of 'Octavian' for the first time since college.

Spider-Man eventually retreats and Tavi rushes Chuck (and their mangled leg) to the hospital as quick as they can. Chuck is rushed into surgery, but they can't save the leg.

Chuck joins Tavi's cause after they have recovered and join the fight against Spider-Man as the "Gold Goblin". They start working together at Oscorp and all but dissapear into their lab most of the time. Aside from their trusty intern, they have little outside contact. They get closer through this, until eventually they're as close as they used to be. And even closer ;)

Soon, however, Spider-Man is not the only one they're fighting. There's a new player on the battlefield, one sending random villains at the people of New York. The villains are aimed at Spider-Man, but Ock and Goblin get wrapped into the fray as well.

That is all I shall say for now :)

There is much more to the story hehehe. So many off-shoots for small events and little quirks that we added. If the term passion project is legit, it definetly applies.

I pressed my lips together, thinking of a response. “It's not that… it's not that I don't… I think…” I couldn't think of an answer that would satisfy his curiosity. “It's just… when it comes to people I like, my friends, my family, my… romantic interests… I want to protect them. I want to keep them out of danger. Out of the fighting.” For some reason, my eyes pricked with tears. “I want to protect you. I know you're fully capable of protecting yourself because you're a superhero, but that doesn't mean I don't want to protect you. I'm always here for you, Chat, if you need someone. Someone to vent to, someone to lean on, a shoulder to cry on… I hope you feel the same about me.”
