Real Talk: How Much to Spend on An Engagement Ring
If you’re planning to propose to your partner or thinking about popping the question you need to invest in an engagement ring. But the real question comes as to how much should you spend on an engagement ring.
If you’re looking for lab grown diamond jewelry in Las Vegas, NV then you need to know that while there are some suggestions on how much to spend for a ring, it all comes down to your personal preference.
Tips to keep in mind when investing in an engagement ring
Ditch the diamond
Diamonds are quite expensive and if you’re looking for something affordable, you can choose lab grown diamonds in Las Vegas, NV. These diamonds have the same physical, chemical, and aesthetic qualities as a natural diamond with the exception of being made in a lab.
Lab-made diamonds are also highly affordable at larger carat sizes and being durable they are great for daily wear. You can also choose white sapphires or rubies for something unique and vibrant.
Understand your setting
Your local jewelry repair in Las Vegas, NV will tell you that the type of setting you choose can often be pricey. Instead of looking for three-stone or cluster settings, focus on a prong or solitaire setting that features a single gemstone instead of multiple stones which can be expensive.
Keep in mind the more detailed the setting, the more gemstones you need to fill in and which can cause the price to increase.
Work on the cut of your stone
The cut of your gemstone can often play a part when it comes to the shine and brilliance of your stone. Look for gemstones with a brilliant cut and next to no small flaws and imperfections so that they can shine bright.
If you want a big gemstone then consider working within your budget and choose a more affordable stone with a higher grade.  Certain stones like morganite, aquamarines, or even moonstones are beautiful and affordable even at large carat sizes.
The Bottom Line
At the end of the day a lot of jewelers will tell you to invest in heirloom and vintage-inspired pieces since you are using a piece that’s already in existence and not creating something new from scratch it can be quite affordable. Heirloom pieces also work great to pass on to future generations for years to come.

I have still been lookin for a damn ring bcuz I like a very specific type of bridal set (I dont like big diamonds, I dont like clusters of diamonds, I like the bottom ring to be twist/braid or curve style) and I sent my bf some and he was like "what the fuck is this?? These are all $200 I can fill up my gas tank twice with that money, I spent more on tables, I'm not getting you a ring i could win at Dave & Busters that's tacky and makes me look bad" I just busted out laughing like bruh it's from zales who tf gonna know it's only $200 "me I'll know". And then hes like "look at Helzberg they're pricy". Bitch these rings look like something I'd find in a sunken pirate ship, clunky and tacky as all hell lookin like family heirlooms from the 18th century.
The thing is, we're not on the brink of having to live in the Las Vegas flood tunnels, but we're also not by any means raking in a lot of money. But hes firm on spending preferably $1,000-$1,500 and apparently I'm the odd one bcuz his mom is in town so he even asked her "$200 is too cheap for a wedding ring right" and she damn well agreed. So now back to Brilliant Earth, the only ones I like in that price range, that he originally was skeptical of "lab grown diamonds.. so they fake?" and I had to explain that they look the same if not higher quality.

( The New York Times ) - Lisa Bissell (Lisa Bissell) examined six pink diamonds lined with candy on a white tray in her office in Middle Manhattan. "All of them were born in the last couple of months," she said. She pointed to a diamond of a fantasy pink color with a round cut of 1.2 carats. "This one may be six months older, but they are still babies," she said. "I treat them so much."
Ms. Bissell, as president and CEO of Pure Grown Diamonds, a company engaged in the production of synthetic diamonds and their marketing, has a certain interest in becoming a business in the production of diamonds grown in the laboratory.
Pure Grown sells synthetic diamonds of white, pink, yellow and champagne color coming from several global manufacturers, including IIa Technologies, based in Singapore. These stones from the optical, chemical and physical points of view are identical to those extracted from the bowels of the earth by natural diamonds, but they suffer from the long-standing problem of image.
"Many people do not understand synthetic diamonds, what it is and how they differ from diamonds obtained from diamonds mined from the ground," said Rob Bates, the new director of JCK, a publisher of trade in the jewelry industry, where this writer Is the editor-in-chief. "They think it's cubic zirconia or fake."
According to the recommendations of the Federal Trade Commission, an independent agency under the United States government, the terms "synthetic", "lab-grown", "man-made" and "created ( Company) ((company) -created) are legal and interchangeable definitions for diamonds created in the laboratory. But marketers prefer to avoid the word "synthetic", because they are afraid that this will cause negative associations among consumers.
In addition to its place of origin - the laboratory, unlike the depths in the bowels of the earth, the pink diamonds on Mrs. Bissell's tray that emerged as colorless diamonds grown in the laboratory before they were recycled are different from their counterparts extracted from the ground by yet another An important indicator: the cost.
Artificial precious stones are sold in retail at $ 9,189 for a 1.2 carat diamond of a fantasy pink color - this is for the smallest and faintest of them - and up to $ 21,898 for the most saturated 1.3-carat gemstone described by Mrs. Bissel as a stone " Fantasy deep pink color. "
Natural diamonds of saturated pink shades usually cost more than $ 100,000 per carat, and sometimes even higher. At the auction of jewelry at the auction Christie in New York, held on June 10, for example, a brilliant brilliant pink oval shape weighing 5.5 carats was sold for $ 9.6 million, or $ 1.7 million per carat.
Not for all synthetic diamonds are such serious trades. Most synthetic colorless diamonds are sold at a price of 20 to 30 percent lower compared to the price of natural diamonds of the same size, color and quality. Nevertheless, even with such smaller premiums, the business of synthetic diamonds has attracted increased interest from designers, manufacturers of diamonds and jewelry in recent years. See https://weddingpearlneecklace.tumblr.com/
"The most important thing in diamond growing business is to be honest and tell everyone - more than once, and hundreds of times:" These are cultivated diamonds: they are diamonds, only they are grown above the ground, not underground, "said Ms Bissell . "The only negative moment that we are facing is inside our industry itself, because they are so afraid of what is actually even unlikely."
They are afraid - it's still gently said. Scientists have managed to synthesize diamonds more than 60 years ago, but this category has been poorly developed, because jewelry trade tends to ostracize the suppliers of synthetic diamonds.
"One of the reasons that jewelers do not want to engage in the business of synthetic diamonds is their confidence that they sharply reduce the sales of natural diamonds," said Ms. Bates. "It's difficult to reach a compromise."
The talk about synthetic diamonds reached a heat of passion in June, when industry participants gathered at the annual trade fair at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.
The exhibition Reena Ahluwalia (Reena Ahluwalia), a Canadian designer introduced Nurture by Reena ( «by Rina"), stylish designer range including colorless, pink and yellow synthetic diamonds. At the neighboring booth company Kama Schachter, an Indian manufacturer of diamond jewelry, promoted a new line of inexpensive wedding rings, called Kama's Rox ( «Stones of God's love Kama") by using the center of the synthetic diamond cut "emerald".
Even though their presence indicated a growing recognition of this product in the industry, concerned trade participants gathered in the halls downstairs to discuss the threat posed by synthetic diamonds for the traditional polished market. Earlier this week, a laboratory in Israel announced that it had uncovered unopened artificial stones mixed with a batch of natural diamonds. This news has sown panic.
"What will happen when the quality of man-made diamonds becomes so good that the laboratory will have difficulty in determining the difference?" "Said Ben Janowski, founder of Janos Consultants in New York.
This is a legitimate question, and trade has been asking it since 1954, when scientists from General Electric received a synthetic diamond in a high-temperature high-pressure chamber, simulating what is happening in the bowels of the earth. This method, known as HPHT (the method of high pressure and high temperature), was declared a trade in jewelry as the beginning of the end of natural diamonds.
"They were scared to death," said Tom Chatham, CEO of Chatham Created Gems & Diamonds in San Marcos, California, who has long been a supporter of synthetic diamonds. "It took a long time for everyone to understand that at that time it was the result of the curiosity of researchers from the laboratory, and there was no intention to harm the jewelry industry."
There are many reasons why it took so long for diamonds produced using the HPHT method to become more common in the industry. On the one hand, "no one shares any information," said Mr. Chatham. On the other hand, the method is expensive and subject to the same shortcomings that damage natural diamonds.
James Shigley, a researcher at the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, California, said: "The problem for the manufacturer of synthetic diamonds is to create conditions and maintain them at a sustainable level.
If there are any fluctuations in temperature or pressure, "he added," it will affect the diamond in the form of some defects. "
In the 1990s, pioneers in the production of diamonds grown in the laboratory, especially a Boston company called Apollo Diamonds, now known as Scio Diamond Technology and based in Greenville, South Carolina, drew attention to chemical vapor deposition (chemical Vapor deposition, or CVD - a method that allowed them to grow diamonds in cheaper vacuum chambers that are easier to manage.
"A gas, for example methane, is placed at the end of the growth chamber, and an energy source, such as a microwave, is used," Mr. Shigley said. "And this causes the carbon atoms to fall out onto the substrate in the form of rain."
First, during the CVD process, the diamond plates were too thin to produce jewelery quality diamonds. But since then this method has been worked out and at present dozens of companies - many in China, India and the former Soviet republics - have rushed to this arena of activity, using various methods based on CVD. Most manufacturers of synthetic diamonds are attracting potential opportunities for their industrial application in sectors On the production of semiconductors, in nanotechnology and the manufacture of tools; But some are eyeing the luxury market, albeit reluctantly.
The sector of technical diamonds is flooded with competing firms, "which makes people look narrowly to find out what else they can do in order to make their factories profitable," Mr. Chatham said.
Among the leaders are such powerful manufacturers as Element Six, the London branch of synthetic diamonds of the diamond-mining company De Beers, and Sumitomo Electric, a Japanese company that has been producing synthetic diamonds since 1982.
"At present, this business is an industrial production that gives five billion carats a year, so there are many participants in the production of diamonds, only they have no real interest in trading in precious stones," Mr. Chatham said. - Diamonds for technical purposes are not very large, and they are yellow. But it is not difficult to go from the point of view of technology, from the production of yellow diamonds to the production of white and the size of carats. "

Is UNLV a Sleeping Giant in College Football?
Tumblr media
The UNLV football program began 48 years ago in 1968 when Las Vegas was a much smaller city. That same year Vegas touted the opening of the Circus Circus property on its young developing Las Vegas Strip.
Since that time the Las Vegas Strip has grown into the biggest and brightest entertainment attraction in the world and Las Vegas has sprung up to become one of the nation’s most vibrant cities. The UNLV football program, however, had experienced a similar outcome more closely resembling that of the Circus Circus, which over time has become an overshadowed decaying property.
In circus-like custom, UNLV football accumulated an all-time losing record of 221-262-4 (.458) and suffered more than its share of embarrassing defeats against opposing college competition. The Rebels made regular appearances in ESPN’s Bottom 10 and became a perennial doormat team in multiple athletic conferences.
But that was the past, and UNLV's circumstances appear to be changing quickly in dramatic fashion. To put it simply, Rebel football is emerging.
The UNLV football program has undergone a 180 degree shift in philosophy, which began in 2015 when UNLV’s athletic department hired the man responsible for leading Vegas’ own Bishop Gorman High School into national prominence, Coach Tony Sanchez. This new philosophy, labeled “The New Era” of UNLV football, consists of one major purpose, which is that UNLV football is now a major priority on campus.
In addition to UNLV’s head coach, assistant coaches and school administrators have hit the ground running, taking impressive action to improve their current student-athletes' training and diet, as well as to elevate program recruiting, branding and marketing, and building.
In May, UNLV football received what at the time was the single largest donation gift in program history, a $2 million check from a donor remaining anonymous. This money came in amid various other escalating cash donations, to contribute toward building a stunning state-of-the-art football complex on campus.
This week another record-breaking gift was delivered to UNLV football to the tune of $10 million, courtesy of the Fertitta family who are strong supporters of Coach Sanchez.
Increasing buzz around the program suggests that more large financial donations are in the pipeline as UNLV is scheduled to break ground on its new football complex come springtime.
Coach Tony Sanchez explains, “I knew when I took this opportunity that this was a diamond in the rough and could be an incredible job and amazing community, and could help change the face of the university”.
Last February UNLV football hauled in its best recruiting class in school history, and recruiting will only skyrocket upward upon the completion of this beautiful campus football facility located within the bright Las Vegas lights.
Regarding the boosted amenities, Coach Sanchez says, “The thing I get excited about is my players and watching them walk in every day, and seeing them be able to walk up to a first class dining facility, and being able to feed them, having them leave that facility and walk into a first class academic center where they can have computer labs and individual tutoring rooms, have places for them to spend time together and lounge. This is their home away from home”.
With the addition of this luxurious football facility UNLV's program will be propelled to compete among the very best in the conference.
In the meantime, UNLV football players are already feeling better, looking better, and playing better. But wait...there's more.
Tumblr media
Las Vegas is in neck-deep in negotiating the construction of a new NFL quality 65,000 seat domed stadium located on or near the world-renowned Las Vegas Strip which, if approved by the legislature, would become home for the Rebels on game days.
This stadium would suddenly make UNLV football the coolest program in the Mountain West Conference and possibly the hottest trending program around the country.
Said by Coach Sanchez, “UNLV football will be a heartbeat at a whole other level”. Sanchez understands the process and work needed to get the program where he envisions it to be and talks often about positioning UNLV to join a Power 5 conference, and ultimately competing at the highest level of college football, among ESPN’s Top 10.
"I think we have a real opportunity here in the city of Las Vegas, with the growth of it and all of these things that are going on around here".
Onlookers cannot help but notice that already in a short amount of time UNLV football has made impressive growth under Coach Sanchez and his staff, with the future of Rebel football looking brighter than ever.
No longer is UNLV football resembling the Circus Circus of the Las Vegas Strip, but rather has initiated a plan of action to resemble the Bellagio in the foreseeable future.
UNLV football could very well be college football's biggest sleeping giant, and this giant is no longer in a state of coma, but is stirring around, rustling, stretching its arms, and is on the verge of awaking. Once it does, watch out because UNLV football will climb up to new altitudes among the elite programs around the country.
