the smell of books in the library. hearing the coffee bubbling in the carafe. same thing said in multiple languages – "beautiful," I say.

it's been busy. so busy. but that's nothing new. & I'm certainly not complaining. my 3 month review is in sight & it makes me so nervous. things have been going very well but I still fear anything I may be missing that may have not been brought to my attention.

I've taken to visiting the university library twice a week in order to give myself a place to study. there isn't anything wrong with home, necessarily, but it's always been easier for me to focus in that kind of setting.

For flavor reasons, none of Haruhi's SOS Brigade specials can involve the characters' powers. At least, not overtly. Haruhi's Brigade moves need to restrict the members she's summoning to only making the kind of attacks that character would be willing to make with Haruhi watching.

So, as an example, her Yuki attack is a long-range grapple. Yuki light-speed warps into the opponent's space and tackles them to the ground, then wrestles with them a bit before getting up and running off. It uses her powers but in a way that she's been demonstrated to be willing to do in front of Haruhi, as it references Yuki's thwarting of the Mikuru Beam.

(Mikuru Beam itself being the younger Mikuru's projectile in the Mikuru/Future Mikuru tag-team fighter.)

Yuki Tackle wouldn't do a lot of damage but it would briefly stun the recipient at range, setting them up for Haruhi to get into melee range or combo off as they're getting up. Can be escaped by ducking or jumping, but it's a grapple so it's unblockable with a standing defense.

So she's got Yuki Tackle and Kyon Toss. But Haruhi also needs a Mikuru special and an Itsuki special. Hmm....

Three Ships/First Ever Ship: Geez, first ship as in child looks at the screen and says "they're in love", or first ship as in "actively involved with fandom for this ship"?

Because if it's the latter then... it's probably either Inuyasha/Kagome (went looking for fanart), or Sasuke/Naruto (the first ever fanfic that I read).

-rival of protag and former best friend who was persuaded to the dark side. they’re on a similar power level and they have more of a history. they’re absolutely infuriated that protag cares more about mc than their rivalry and at some point their plan begins to shift to trying to kill mc… yet when mc is captured or smthn maybe they also catch feelings idk. this is basically almost a harem lmao.

-token love interest (kiss him not me energy) gorgeous and powerful but always forced as a damsel by the plot and other evil forces. grew up with rival and protag and theoretically they’re supposed to fight over her but her ass is like yeah nah that’s dead. likes mc because he is also just as done with this shit as she is.

3 Ships/ First ever ship

The first ship that comes to mind would be AsuShin of course. I haven’t rewatched Eva and I really need to because I think diving into the Eva fanfiction community and reading (genuinely great) fanfic of this ship has like really changed my perception of the show. And I feel like I need to rewatch Eva (and eventually get to the rebuilds too) to get an idea of how all of this connects (and what should be separated too). But yeah, I think I really love this pairing because they just have a lot of fascinating parallels and ways they match and awesome chemistry which is just lovely to see and think about.

I won’t blab as much on the other two…

KyouAnna from The Dangers of my Heart - if you wanna read some stellar rom-com writing, do not miss this manga. It’s amazing how natural these two fit with each other despite how disparate they were in the beginning.

It’s I’m Best Friends with my Own Front Door by Bill Wurtz

I love this song, it reminds me that leaving out and doing things is good. And moving is good, and it’s a good pick me up when I’m leaning towards more depressive feelings.

Last Movie

The last film I watched was Wild Strawberries (1957), I watched it in my school’s world cinema club. It was a nice, surprisingly wholesome yet mostly introspective look at this old guy’s life and his existential thoughts about it. I don’t know many very old people in my life (aside from my old sociology teacher, who’s such an awesome person) and I like this film for making me think about those people more.

I found this on a desk in my school library and I read it one sitting, which is pretty easy because a lot of it was photographs, but yeah. So the author decides to go to Venice to stalk someone who they briefly met in a party in Paris, just on a whim. It’s pretty cool.
