So... I apparently have no instincts of self preservation nor any concern for my mental health, because I decided to take a crack at @atlasapphicweek, filling every prompt with Kuviren, a.k.a. Kuvira/Suiren, my Mingzan child OC, thus spreading it further into the masses :) Here’s day 1 - Healing, because there are very few things more intimate than waterbending healing, at least according to my headcanons about how it works, but also featuring that sweet, sweet Suiren angst, where would we be without it?

I decided on writing instead of drawing for this event far too late so there’s no backlog/preparation, just writing as I go and hoping for the best. Pray for me lmao

After the Kids (a.k.a Suiren, Midori, Opal, Kuvira and Bolin) (none of them are kids but that's probably what the RL call them) successfully break Zaheer out and get him to the hideout, there will obviously be a big emotions fest between the RL. Like, he thought they were dead, they had no idea what happened to him, P'Li's his lover, Mingzan may be mad at him for the whole earthly tethers thing but he's still their friend and they still missed him... Yeah. While all that is happening they forget about the kids for a second but after the initial tears cease, they turn around and find the five of them just... passed out together in a heap on the floor

Day 6: Sweaty Skin

The Kuvira vs Korra rematch is so fun to rewatch and every time I do I wonder how come some people consider that fight a draw. Watch the fight again lmao.

Korra was still not fully back to top shape (she had had poison stuck in her system until like two weeks, and had been out of the fight for like three years, and was even physically thinner and smaller than she used to be), Korra wasn't as good of a metalbender yet since she learnt how to do so like four days before she got poisoned, and she didn't have access to water, which is her strongest element. Meanwhile, Kuvira is a very skilled fighter in top shape and a very talented bender herself, and she was surrounded by her element, as they were both stuck in a room full of metal. Korra was supposed to be the one at disadvantage there.

And yet, Kuvira only managed to get like one or two proper hits at Korra in the whole fight while spending the rest of it basically getting her ass kicked, even though Korra was clearly holding back because her goal was not hurting or killing Kuvira, she just wanted to capture her. Had Korra wanted to kill her, Kuvira would have been dead. That fight was NOT a draw, Korra was winning lmao.

I was watching the movie on Saturday while writing chapter 6 of Seeds of the Red Lotus when an idea struck my brain and refused to leave

The Suiren/Kuvira crack-ship that @felicity-kitten and I came up with once in the middle of the night

Again, this started out as a crack-ship (it’s literally Suiren’s job to take Kuvira down come on-) but ngl, I’m lowkey interested in what their dynamic would be like. They are similar in a lot of ways, when you think about it.

im well aware there is a problem of racism within the zutara shipp community, i won't pretend to be dumb and say i don't notice how a lot of fanworks have katara abandon her culture in order to become fire lady or how zuko protects her from "the evil misogynist men from the water tribes" and how the fire nation is sm cooler than the southern water tribe, the whitewashing, etc. those are real things, it's disgusting and as a POC, it makes me feel insecure in the fandom. there is a problem w nsfw fanarts and fanfics of zutara as minors too

but all of this isn't limited to the zutara shippers and this isn't a defense but a plea for all of you to look closely with what and who u interact w. literally this week we saw a kataang shipper be exposed as a racist and a harasser. I'm on twitter again and her interactions w other kataang shippers are many but the warnings coming from other people come a long way too and i barely saw any ka addressing the situation. there was a exposed of a zk group chat some months ago who were actually proshippers and the exposed was created by a zutara shipper who was even harasseed by zk shippers (the ones in the gc and others too)

avatarfandompolice is another racist user who receives a lot of attention too. zvtara-was-never-canon is managed by a zucest shipper. hell there is a literal zionist lurking around both the zk and ka fandoms (starlight-bread-blog)

a lot of the anti zutara discourse i see the majority of time doesnt actually focus on the racism the fans have towards katara but go on to call it a toxic shipp and a colonizer/colonized shipp. funny thing is, these people praise zuko's arc and his friendship w the gaang. if u actually think zuko is a colonizer and he shouldnt be w katara romantically, he shouldnt have a friendship w any of the gaang either. they all suffered under the FN's imperialism but this discourse only appears when romance is brought up and specifically w zutara. as i said before, there is a problem of racism within the zk shippers but it isn't inherent to the shipp. a lot of times this anti discourse comes from a need to have moral high ground. but honestly, do u think u have moral high ground while stanning kuvira, a grown ass woman who put waterbenders and firebenders in concentration camps? do u think u have moral high ground when u insist zutara is ass but ship zukaang, a boy who is 12 and the other who is 16? do u think u have moral high ground when u ship azula and zuko, the siblings? do u think u have moral high ground while u shipp zukka and doesnt think it is colonized/colonizer bc "sokka doesnt care ab his culture"?

and it goes both ways btw. zk shippers, do u think u have moral high ground when u interact w racists fanworks and refuses to aknowledge their existence but at the same time say kataang is inherently misogynist and their shippers too? do u think u have moral high ground when u attack zukka by being homophobic? do u think u have moral high ground ignoring that by having a redemption's arc, zuko needs to have smth to redeem about and that something is his horrible fucking choices a lot of yall try to woobify? do u think u have moral high ground when u try to justify zuko being a bad and possessive boyfriend just bc u don't like mai?

there is a problem of racism, misogyny and homophobia in the fandom and im tired of everyone pretending their little bubble is perfect and never a part of the problem. i love avatar but anyone w half a brain knows the show is racist and stereotyping at times, just like the creators. yk, the two white men who appropriated a lot of things.

Linumi Hc

An incomplete and not in order list Because my brain is running a hundred different directionssssss

He is 10 years older than her but nothing starts with them until after the Linzin breakup so Lin’s like 33 ish he’s 43, long after she’s established in the RCPD and Toph and Su are gone.

Bumi wasn’t a violent man towards family and friends but the next time Bumi was in port after he heard what Tenzin did to Lin. Dropping her for Pema. (And expecting a kid within a year of breaking up with Lin) he decked Tenzin in front of Pema and the other air acolytes on ATI. Dropping Tenzin like a sack of bricks to the stone. “That’s for Linny.” He all but spat at the dazed Tenzin.

They write a lot. A LOT a lot. Lin receives several letters at the same time because Bumi has to mail them all at the same port after a while at sea. She saves every one of them but she would never admit it and Bumi assumes she tosses them but they’re hidden under a stone in her house. Lin doesn’t write as often to him as it usually ends up at the wrong port for him to be able to collect it.

They’re actually married but NO ONE KNOWS because Lin won’t wear a ring when she’s at work and no one can catch her when she’s not at work and Bumi doesn’t feel the need to tell anyone if they haven’t figured it out yet (*cough* Tenzin being oblivious)

One time Korra catches Bumi kissing Lin while they think no one was around at ATI and she was shoook

Bumi didn’t get any updates on what happened after Amon until it was weeks after everyone was at Katara’s house and as soon as he heard about it he couldn’t get there fast enough and no one dared tell Commander Bumi II that he couldn’t leave his assignment to get to his wife after what they heard happened.

Lin was in such bad state omg all the other hc injuries and nightmares but she was so pale and sickly thin when he got to her. He pulled her close to him and Lin just breaks down crying and apologizing over and over. (The night terror / comfort ficsssss please I beg)

When Bumi gets his airbending Lin grows distant a bit not really a huge fan of the new development but not discouraging him from his excitement. They do eventually talk it out but that’s kinda post series.

Bumi frantically digging through the wreckage of Kuvira’s mech to find Lin. (A Fog Au where Lin and Su are thrown into the spirit world by the explosion and Lin gets lost in the fog of lost souls- I think I have a few of those posts somewhere still)

Bumi joking that Mako/Rina(oc) or Bolin/Opal need to give him and Lin grankids soon because he’s retired and his niblings are growing up and finding other things to spend their time on than joking around with uncle Bumi.

Bumi loves making Lin smile and always manages to get a smirk at least as he’s goofing off in company. Sometimes he gets a chuckle and his week is made. Nothing can beat his Linny smiling and laughing.

consider: emran x suiren?? what r ur thoughts?

Well… first of all, Emran is 25 years older than Suiren, so do with that information what you will

Second, he’s her uncle’s sibling, and while they aren’t related by blood I feel like there’s still some line there that’s being crossed

Third, yes, Emran is genderfluid, but he is a man sometimes and Suiren is a lesbian (though this one is the least of my concerns, tbh, lesbians can do whatever the fuck they want, I'm not into that exclusionist bullshit)

But if we put all that aside for the sake of argument.. I honestly don’t think Emran is Suiren’s type? Character-wise I think they’d match well, his happy and freedom loving personality would speak to her anarchist spirit (though I do think she’d get annoyed with that overly positive attitude really, really quickly) but looks-wise he’s just too androgynous for her liking. We all know she’s weak for a certain someone else with green eyes and pale skin and black hair (does Kuvira look like she’d belong in this family or am I losing it?), but the butch vibes have to be off the charts for her to be really interested. Also he’s happy with life as an acolyte at one of the Air Temples while she’d rather die than live there and meditate all the time and wear orange 😂 So the most I could hypothetically see them as is a one night stand, or perhaps a short term relationship, but nothing else
