Kurōo cheating on his s/o for his new manager but quickly falling out of love with her and she realizes so she quits as manager. But when he comes back to you he realizes you’re with someone else so he begs you to lie to him and say “I love you”.
Won’t You Lie to Me?
- the one in which Kuroo Tetsurou would do anything to hear the lies that stain your tongue
xFem! reader
Warning(s): cheating! angst, lots of tears, reader doesn't want Kuroo's touch in the last part, read with caution this was a painful write but I love angst soooo
---------------------------------------------
If you could go back in time, you wonder if you would take the detour to stop by your boyfriend’s volleyball practice again. It’s a bitter afterthought really, an afterthought to the scene before you.
She yelped, manager tracksuit zipping up quickly in the process as one of her hands flies to her hair, attempting to smooth down the mess of it as if it would magically fall back into place.
But you're not staring at her. How could you? Why stare at her when the raven-haired boy standing behind her with a slackened jaw and crumpled t-shirt was just such an interesting sight to see?
"Someone's hard at work." your tone is sarcastic, but the slight crack in the tinge of your words is enough for Kuroo to take a step towards you, watching the light fade from your eyes as the cowering manager of their team stares like you're a bomb about to explode.
"Y/N-"
"Don't."
Your reaction is mild and tame, simply tilting your head to the side as you don't break eye contact with him. It was a silly high school love story to begin with, perhaps one of those where happy endings don't exist and things are too good to be true.
If you knew that, then why does it feel like every inch of you won't stop trembling?
"Go to hell, Tetsurou." But he knows. He sees it in your eyes, the finality in your tone that sealed things in place. He knows you mean it. He knows you never say things you don't mean, the same way he knows things will never ever be what they once were.
So why can't he will his legs to move towards you?
Instead, dark eyes watch you hang your head with a heavy sigh, as if you were suddenly exhausted before shoving something in the manager's hands, ignoring the yelp that left her swollen lips.
"It's for the headache he claimed he had." Your voice was monotone as you refused to lift your gaze. "He's your problem now."
"Y/N."
It almost broke you. Almost. The gentleness in his tone, the way in which a shaky hand lifted towards you, but you simply took a step back. Staring down at the manager you once called a friend, you giggle humorlessly before simply turning on your heel and walking away.
"She's so calm about it, Tetsu-kun." The manager sniffed at your absence, trying to put a hand on one of his broad shoulders. "She must have never loved you, I told you so."
But Kuroo knew better. He wasn't sure why he gave in. He wasn't sure why for a second he believed what Yue was saying before she came onto him, not denying her when she advanced. Something about your plans to break up with him? Something about how you had giggled to Yue about how you were planning on leaving him for someone better?
He can't recall why or what was said. All he knows is as he's watching you, he strangely feels quite empty inside. This must mean he doesn't have any outright feelings for you anymore, right?
If he isn't hurting when he watches you go, isn't this for the best?
He's lost in his thoughts when the gym doors come to a tight shut, your knees hitting the soft grass outside as your legs give out from underneath you, a silent wail wracking your whole body as your heart splits into pieces, taking the form of salty tears that slide down your cheeks.
--
Kuroo Tetsurou still isn't really feeling much of anything.
He didn't feel much when he told Yue he still didn't want to be with her despite the deceptive steps taken. Not when she slapped him across the face. Not when Kenma had eyed him with a look of pure disgust with a sharp warning not to speak to him for the next couple days.
The only twinge he felt was when you handed in your resignation as manager, the gym an eerie quiet before the first years hug you tightly, teary-eyed as they exclaim that they didn't want you to go but they understand. Yaku glared at him the whole time, but Kuroo kept setting up the net as the first years tackle you in their last couple of embraces, glancing your way as you stroke their hair lovingly and explain you'll still find the time to hang out.
Kuroo was waiting for you to be on your way, out the door to catch you and say one last thing-
"Y/N, you have to know I'm so-"
"Sorry." Your voice is a little breathless, like you just had the wind knocked out of you. "But let's not, okay Tets-" You catch yourself, inhaling a shaky breath before managing a small smile.
"Okay, Kuroo? I'm happy being strangers. I don't hate you, okay?"
Your shoulder taps his as you stride past, a finality in your footsteps.
"I just wish we never met."
Kuroo stands there, a single emotion stirring in his chest as his gaze stares straight ahead, his shoulder on fire from where you had gently grazed it.
Confusion. Confusion swirls in his chest as his eyes brim with unshed tears he can't exactly match an emotion to.
--
A couple weeks pass...maybe a month or two? But the raven-haired third year doesn't even notice it. He goes through the motions of school and club activities, his team eventually having to slowly begin speaking to him again as preliminaries near the corner.
Kenma taps his head against the doorway of his room, staring at him blankly.
"Hey cheater."
"Funny." But Kuroo isn't laughing, sitting up in bed to eye him with an even stare. Kenma doesn't like the look in his eyes, the usual sarcastic and confident glint in his irises and smile nowhere to be seen. "What's up."
Kenma shrugs, taking a comfortable seat on the floor before pulling out his handheld device, Kuroo blinking once in surprise before laying back down in bed, listening to the click of the buttons and the movements of the joystick.
The cat-eyed boy glances at him, looking back down at his device before taking something out of his pocket and placing it on the end of his bed.
"Y/N wanted me to return this to you."
Kuroo eyes the red scarf at the end of the bed, Kenma focusing on the next level of his game before he sits up again to examine the fluffy fabric, the characters for Nekoma High School on the corner of one end.
His chest seems to twist.
"Don't be a brat, Y/N, it's cold out here."
"What if you get sick, idiot?"
""Stop calling your best friend an idiot! You're the worst, you know."
"Don't kid yourself. Kenma's my best friend."
A lump forms in his throat.
"Fine, whatever." Kuroo had smirked down at you from his towering height, wrapping the scarf around your neck despite your wishes as you eyed him weirdly. He leans down to your height, his eyes twinkling with something you can't pinpoint.
"I don't wanna be just your best friend anyway."
You glare at him a little, tip of your nose colored from the cold before standing on your toes to lean up and kiss him, smiling as your bag hits the snow beneath you, your arms wrapped tightly around his neck as the first snow falls around you.
"Promise me." Your sweet voice is hushed, eyes staring at him brimmed with straight adoration as you cup his cold cheeks, Kuroo's onyx eyes holding yours carefully.
"Let's go see next year's first snowfall together."
"Cheesy." Kuroo's grin is cocky as you swat his chest in slight embarrassment, but he grabs your hand anyways, stopping your attacks before leaning a little closer to your face, so close your breaths are mingling. His fingers are touching the scarf wrapped so carefully around your pretty neck, stroking your cheek with a gentleness you didn't know he possessed.
"We'll get a front row seat, kitten, don't worry your pretty little head about it."
"Tetsu?"
"Hm?"
You smiled, snow in your hair as you kissed him again.
Kuroo Tetsurou could now feel again.
"I love you."
And it was his heart absolutely breaking as regret fills the beginning of the onslaught of tears.
Kenma looks up, eyes widening a fraction as his childhood friend hunches over the now clenched red scarf, his body trembling as sob after sob pours out of him, the fabric smelling of you as he holds it close to his seemingly irreparable heart.
No, it wasn't that he couldn't feel.
His body was numb and in shock with the loss of you.
--
Kuroo Tetsurou wasn't a complete idiot.
He knew the damage done was nearly permanent. There would be no fixing things, the "nearly" part of that statement lingering on the sense of false hope he had that you would at least begin talking to him.
Strangely enough, it wasn't that difficult. You began nodding to at least acknowledge his existence when dropping off a packaged treats at practice. You even began saying hello when he was with Kenma, Kuroo only being able to manage an awkward greeting back before watching you walk off with a longing in his eyes.
"Doesn't Y/N-senpai seem so much brighter these days?" Inuoka slurps his yogurt pouch, brightening up as he mentions your name. He finishes tying his shoes, stretching out his arms overhead with a careless yawn.
"Maybe she's seeing someone new."
Kuroo misses a spike, chest heavy as the first year looks up at his captain, startled.
"Relax." Kenma scolds him, not missing a beat. "It's probably not true."
Yeah.
Kuroo jogs back to center court, watching Kenma's fingers set the ball up perfectly.
It's probably not true.
He misses the spike again.
--
"After we win this, I'm going to ask Y/N for another chance."
Kenma doesn't look surprised, eyeing Kuroo seriously before releasing a heavy sigh.
"Kuroo, you should really know that-"
"Oi. Get a move on, you two, this is the last preliminary match before the qualifying match to Nationals." Yaku cuts off the team's setter, Kenma groaning a little as Kuroo jogs ahead of him onto the court, Fukurodani waiting for them on the other side.
Kenma waves to you in the stands, and you smile, waving both hands in the air at the entire team as Kuroo's heart skips a beat.
That smile was still his, it has to be.
Bokuto greets his friend with a wide grin, slapping Kuroo on the back with a little less energy than usual as the two teams begin their warm ups, the two captains meeting once in awhile since the training camp.
"Hey hey Kuroo!" The owlish boy crosses his arms, smirking a little as the crate of balls gets rolled out onto the court. "You look great, better than I was expecting!"
"So you heard?" Kuroo sighs, a hand coming up to rest on the back of his neck. "about me and Y/N breaking up?"
"Hm? Oh, that too. I just thought it would've been a little weird seeing as she's dating Akaashi now and all."
What?
His hand freezes midair, voice caught in his throat by the huge lump that forms. Slowly, even though his body was screaming at him not to, he looks back up at the stands.
Akaashi had draped his jacket around your shoulders, slight smile on his lips as he seems to be immersed in conversation with you, Bokuto allowing him to run up real quick to see you before the match began. The setter's blue eyes were brimmed with so much adoration, the beginning sparks of new love evident between the two of you as you shyly nodded along to what he was saying.
Akaashi looks down at the court once before looking back at you, bringing your hand up to kiss once affectionately with a content smile on his face before placing a quick one on your cheek, jogging back down the stairs afterwards.
You don't know what to expect when you look back down at the court, warmth in your cheeks and chest with a foreign form of love you're not accustomed to yet. You want to meet Akaashi's eyes, cheer on Kenma and the Nekoma team, wave a greeting to Bokuto-
but the look of Kuroo's absolutely broken stare was not within the scope of your expectations.
Among the feelings Kuroo Tetsurou was learning how to feel again,
Panic was not one of them.
Panic is all he knows as the whistle blows in his ears, the game calling for someone to serve the first ball.
--
"Y/N."
"Kuroo." You say his name so easily, as if you're not the same person you were that day in the volleyball practice that never existed.
The one where he took your heart and completely discarded it.
"Where are the others-?"
"Washing up after the game." Kuroo can't meet your eyes, his head swimming with the things he rehearsed for hours on end, yet unable to communicate them.
"Oh." You say softly, and Kuroo hates it. He hates how you grow awkward and uncomfortable, like he wasn't the one kissing down your neck as you giggled for him to quit teasing. Like he wasn't your first love.
Like he didn't mean anything to you anymore.
"Y/N." Panic. Panic is what paints his voice as he steps closer to you, reaching an arm out to tug you into his chest, pretending like he doesn't feel you grow rigid at his touch. "Please."
"Let go, Kuroo." Your voice lost it's soft edge, void of emotion-
just like he used to be. You love him right?
"Say it."
"What-?"
"Won't you lie to me? Say that you love me, please say it."
False hope. He recognizes the next feeling when you shakily put your arms around him as well, your tears beginning to soak through his shirt.
Please say it.
"T-Tetsu." Your trembling in his hold. "I..I love you."
Confusion is next. He feels it when you break out of his hold, pushing him back abruptly with an ocean of emotions across your face, the feeling of holding him simply wrong.
Kuroo doesn't even know he's crying, not until your placing a careful hand on his cheek to swipe at his tears messily before laughing a little at the situation.
"Tetsu, let's put us in the past." Your voice is quiet, the air freezing as your warmth creates a slight puff from the contrast. "It's over for us now, don't you see? There's too much hurt-"
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Don't go to him. Please, I love-"
"I won't lie to you again." The tone in your voice is gentle, Kuroo's breath stuck in his throat again as his eyes well up with fresh tears. "I don't feel the same anymore, you broke my heart first...why do I have to take responsibility for yours?"
Kuroo says nothing, another familiar feeling inching towards his chest.
"But look-" You point up at the sky, snow falling down almost mockingly for the first time this season, a sad smile on your lips and wet tears down your cheeks. "It's the first snowfall."
You've never looked more beautiful, with snow in your hair and warmth in your lips.
"You kept your promise."
You turn around after that, continuing to cry as you walk off to go find Akaashi to apologize for the lie you let stain your tongue as Kuroo falls to his knees, his skin numb from the cold-
but his chest isn't numb.
No, he knows this feeling. He knows this feeling a bit too well, the snow seeming to shower at his expense in a rueful manner as he stares at the dark swirl of the sky above.
Heartbreak.

The Heartbeat of Nekoma
Word Count: 809
Warnings: None
Headcanons: Nekoma x Fem! Manager ︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
The gymnasium of Nekoma High was alive with the sound of volleyballs thumping against the floor, the sharp whistle of the coach, and the occasional cheer or groan from the team. In the midst of this controlled chaos was Y/N, the team’s manager and the only girl among these lions. She moved with a purpose, her clipboard clutched in one hand and a first aid kit swinging from the other.
Kenma Kozume, usually lost in his own world, often found himself watching Y/N. Her ability to anticipate the team’s needs before they even voiced them was something he admired silently. He didn’t say much, but when he did, she always listened, her nods and thoughtful hums encouraging him to share more than he usually would. She knew exactly when to offer a silent nod of encouragement or a gentle nudge to join the team’s activities. Her notes on his gameplay were always precise, helping him refine his strategies without a word wasted.
Tetsurou Kuroo, with his wild hair and wilder schemes, relied on Y/N to keep him grounded. She had a knack for cutting through his antics with a sharp word or a pointed look, bringing him back to the task at hand. Yet, she was always there to share a laugh or a moment of triumph, her presence a steady beat in the rhythm of the team.
Lev Haiba, his enthusiasm often got the better of him, leading to more than his fair share of scrapes and bruises. Y/N was always there, her first aid kit at the ready, her gentle chiding mingling with Lev’s sheepish apologies. “You’re like a guardian angel,” he’d say, and she’d roll her eyes but smile all the same while she patched up another scrape. Her gentle scolding about being careful was something he secretly looked forward to.
Morisuke Yaku, the team’s rock, appreciated Y/N’s quiet strength. Her meticulous records helped him track his progress, and her motivational words before matches always seemed to strike the right chord, pushing him to dive deeper and reach further.
Taketora Yamamoto, would often find himself pouring out his heart to Y/N, her easy manner inviting confidences. She listened with an open heart, her advice always practical yet kind. She reminded him that fire needed air to burn bright, a lesson he took to heart both on and off the court.
Nobuyuki Kai, the vice-captain, saw Y/N as the glue that held the team together. Her organizational skills ensured that every practice ran smoothly, and her ability to juggle responsibilities was nothing short of miraculous.
Shouhei Fukunaga, ever the quiet observer, found a kindred spirit in Y/N. Their conversations were often just shared glances and knowing smiles, but the understanding between them ran deep. He enjoyed the quiet moments he shared with her, often helping her collect the volleyballs after practice. Her soft-spoken advice resonated with him, teaching him that strength didn’t always have to be loud.
Sō Inuoka, loved Y/N’s encouraging pep talks. Her pep talks were the fuel to his fire, her words igniting a passion for the game that he channeled into every leap and dive.
Coach Yasufumi Nekomata, saw Y/N as a rare gem, her dedication to the team’s well-being reminding him of the true spirit of the sport. Their discussions on strategy and player development were highlights of his day, her insights often illuminating paths he hadn’t considered.
Despite her involvement in other clubs and her tendency to stretch herself thin, Y/N never let it show. The team knew, though. They saw the exhaustion hidden behind her smile and the way her eyes would sometimes flutter shut during long strategy meetings.
It was during one such after school practice that Y/N’s head began to nod, her pen slipping from her fingers. Kenma was the first to notice, gently propping her up with a cushion. Kuroo signaling for a break, Lev draping a jacket over her like a blanket. Yaku adjusted the air conditioning to ensure she was comfortable, and Yamamoto stood guard, ensuring no one disturbed her rest. As Y/N slept, the team exchanged looks of silent agreement. They would finish practice early today. It was their turn to take care of the person who always took care of them.
When Y/N awoke, she found herself surrounded by her team, their practice finished, each face wearing a soft smile. “We’ve got it from here,” Kuroo said, handing her a bottle of water. “You’ve done enough for today.” Her heart swelled with affection for these boys, her team.  Kai  “You take care of us; now let us take care of you.” They were more than just players she managed; they were her family. And as they walked out of the gym together, she knew that together, they were unstoppable.

kuroo tetsurou x reader
ོ༘₊⁺☀︎₊⁺⋆.˚
Nekoma’s gym was alive with the sound of sneakers squeaking against the court, volleyballs slamming into the floor, and the usual banter flying between the team members. You, the team’s lively and ever-playful manager, were standing on the sidelines, clipboard in hand, watching the boys run through their drills. Occasionally, you’d call out playful critiques, just to rile them up.
“Lev! That spike had all the power of a kitten batting at a ball of yarn!” you hollered, grinning when Lev glared at you but couldn’t help the smirk creeping onto his face.
But your attention kept drifting toward Kuroo, the captain, as it often did. Every time he flashed that cocky smirk or flipped his hair out of his eyes, your heart did a little flip. Not that you’d ever admit it, but you had a pretty big crush on him. Your playful jabs and teasing were just a way to hide it. And it didn’t help that the way Kuroo joked back made it hard to tell if he was just being friendly—or if maybe, just maybe, he liked you back.
You were still lost in thought when Lev and Yamamoto strolled over, grinning like they were about to stir up trouble. “Yo, Kuroo! We gotta ask—what’s going on with you and Ayame from 3-B?”
Kuroo, who was setting the ball at the net, looked up with a confused frown. “Ayame? What about her?”
Lev smirked. “You’ve been spending a lot of time with her, huh? Walking her to class? Talking during lunch? Spill it, man. You like her, don’t you?”
You felt your heart sink, though you kept your usual grin firmly in place. Kuroo… and Ayame? Your gut twisted at the thought, but outwardly, you were as nonchalant as ever.
“Oooh, Kuroo’s got a crush?” you teased, though it took a little more effort than usual. “That’s big news. What’s this, Captain? Are you off the market?”
Kuroo sighed, rolling his eyes in exasperation. “Guys, seriously? I don’t like Ayame. She needed help with her chemistry work, that’s all.”
Yamamoto grinned, still unconvinced. “Riiight. Helping with homework, sure. But are you helping with feelings too?”
Kuroo shot him a glare, clearly annoyed now. But you? You couldn’t help but feel a bit of relief. Okay, so maybe there’s no Ayame situation. But still… You couldn’t shake the lingering weirdness that came with the thought of him liking someone else.
The team continued to tease Kuroo, but he eventually brushed them off and shot you a look that had you raising an eyebrow. Something in his expression was different—serious, almost. “Hey, can we talk for a second? In private?” he asked, his voice quieter than usual.
You blinked, caught off guard. “Sure,” you replied, pushing off the bench and following him toward a quieter corner of the gym. Your heart raced as you walked behind him, trying to figure out what this could be about. Could it be that he…?
Once you were alone, Kuroo turned to face you, looking oddly nervous. You couldn’t help but grin. Seeing the usually smooth and confident Kuroo looking a little flustered was new, and you had to admit, it was kind of cute.
“What’s up, Captain? Are you finally ready to admit you have a secret love for Ayame?” you teased, but your grin faltered when Kuroo gave you a serious look.
“No,” he said firmly. “I’m not into Ayame. I’m into someone else.”
Your heart stopped. Wait. What?
Kuroo took a deep breath, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. “Look, I’ve been trying to figure out how to say this for a while, and I just… I like you, okay? I’ve liked you for a while now.”
For a second, you just stared at him, your brain short-circuiting. You had not been expecting that.
“You… like me?” you echoed, still trying to process what he was saying. This had to be some kind of prank, right? The guys were going to jump out from behind the bleachers any second now.
Kuroo nodded, looking a little more relieved now that he’d finally said it. “Yeah. You. I thought you would’ve picked up on it by now, but I guess I’m not as smooth as I thought.”
You blinked, still processing. But instead of answering, your brain did something entirely different: it malfunctioned.
“Oh,” you said dumbly, staring at him with wide eyes. And then, because your body was apparently a traitor, you blurted out, “So… wait. Did you just confess? To me?”
Kuroo blinked, a little confused by your reaction. “Uh, yeah. That’s what I just did.”
“Oh,” you repeated, feeling your face heat up as you realized you weren’t handling this very well. But then, before you could stop yourself, your brain took over in the worst way possible.
You laughed.
Not a cute, flustered giggle, but a full-on laugh. The kind that had you doubling over, hands on your knees. “Oh my god, this is not how I imagined this going!” you wheezed, unable to stop yourself.
Kuroo looked like he’d just been hit with a volleyball. “Wait—what?”
You tried to rein in your laughter, wiping a tear from the corner of your eye. “No, no, I don’t mean it like that!” you gasped, still giggling. “It’s just—oh god, I didn’t expect you to confess like this. I’ve been trying to figure out how to tell you that I like you, but I never thought you liked me!”
Kuroo blinked, processing your words. “Wait… you like me?”
You nodded, still laughing at the ridiculousness of the whole situation. “Yes! I’ve had a crush on you forever! And now look at us, confessing in the middle of the gym like two awkward idiots.”
Kuroo’s stunned expression melted into a grin, a laugh escaping him. “We really are idiots, aren’t we?”
“Biggest idiots ever,” you agreed, still catching your breath. “I can’t believe I just laughed in your face after you confessed. I’m such a mess.”
Kuroo shook his head, stepping closer. “Nah, it’s fine. I like that you’re a mess. Makes this whole thing more… us.”
You smiled up at him, the awkwardness fading away. “Well, in that case, Captain, what do you say we try again? Properly this time?”
Kuroo chuckled, his usual smirk returning as he leaned in a little closer. “Alright. So, want to go out with me?”
You grinned, your heart fluttering at how natural this all felt now. “Yeah, I do.”
“Good,” Kuroo said, reaching out to ruffle your hair in typical Kuroo fashion. “But just so you know, you laughing at my confession is never going to be forgotten.”
You groaned, swatting his hand away with a laugh. “I’ll make it up to you, don’t worry.”
As the two of you walked back to the gym, the team was still none the wiser. You and Kuroo exchanged a quick, knowing glance, both smiling like idiots as the rest of the guys ran drills, still thinking Kuroo had a crush on Ayame.
And honestly? You wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Hi i rlly liked ur recent haikyuu manager post!! Could u make a karasuno and nekoma version to that?
Take ur time :D (ignore if don't want to do)
Thank you for liking the post! I'll write up any type request as long as I know who the characters are :)
Here is the link to the previous post.
"Oh no, you've got it all wrong. She does bite."
Karasuno and nekoma version
When you first signed up to be the manager for the boy's volleyball team, you really didn't think much of it. You only signed up because your parents wanted you to go to some sort of after school club.
You didn't like any of the clubs so you decided to be a manager for a sports team. Besides, you didn't think a manager would have to do much since most of the organisation for matches would be done by the teachers and coaches.
So here you are on your first day being introduced to the boys in the team.
Karasuno
(You can decide whether its Yachi or Kiyoko's place your taking)
You honestly didn't know much about volleyball but this was the only club left without a manager so here you are standing before the boys as you are introducing yourself to them.
"Hey, I'm Y/n L/n and I'll be your manager from now on."
Things went well and your parents laid off your back for a good while. Though for the first few practices you really didn't have a single clue with what was going on. You would sit, leaning your back against the wall, on the side and watch the ball go from one side to another while they yelled at each other.
To be honest, you didn't get the hype about the sport but you did your duty as manager as best you could.
The boys were wary of their new manager. Often glancing at her every now and then and she would always be looking at them with the same scary expression.
They knew the girl's scary reputation, everyone did. Why she ever chose to be their manager baffles them even to this day.
When Asahi said 'hello' to you for the first time he was pretty nervous and he ended up sounding a little odd. You thought he was trying to intimidate you or something so you glared at him.
Square up Asahi, Y/n about to swing some arms.
Daichi came in between you both, explaining to you that Asahi doesn't mean any harm. He is a friendly giant, promise.
"Yeah he better be."
But over the next few practices, you realised that Asahi really was the BFG so you apologised to him later.
Nishinoya gets on your nerves everyday. Like everyday. He'll be walking back to class and he'll bump into you on purpose. He'll shout "YO MISS MANAGER!" if he sees you across the hallway or streets. Unlike Asahi, this boy was looking to get beat up. He is the cause for 90% of your headaches. The other 10% goes to Kageyama and Hinata's bickering.
Not even a whole month goes by with you as their manager and you have nearly given each team member a smack or punch.
Over time though, you do get pretty close to the boys and you care about them though you might show it, you wouldn't actually ever say it.
When they have practice matches with other teams from other schools and that other team decides to talk shit about your team, you having a field day swinging your fists like helicopter blades.
Though you don't actually ever get very far with your punches to have a field day before the coach or a teacher stops you.
Oikawa once tried to flirt with you. He failed miserably.
By now you understood the game much better and 100% agreed with the hype about it. Would you ever play the game yourself? With these boys? No.
Why? Well have you seen the force at which they smack those balls? (lmao great wording) Like you smack other balls with that force but as a beginner who hasn't ever physically payed volleyball herself, they'd hand your ass back to you even if they were going easy on you. Help, Nishinoya would be a PAIN to deal with after.
Maybe you'll stick to being a delinquent manager and not a player.
Nekoma
Believe me when I say that Taketora was over to moon when he found out his team now has a manager. He was gushing and blushing about it for days.
He came back down to earth when he saw it was you though.
The infamous Y/n.
Just his luck.
But little did he and the rest of the team know, you actually really liked the sport and knew a lot about it. You would give them lots of pointers and took down notes of their strengths and weaknesses.
You threatened to beat them up if they didn't improve in your given time frame.
Did you ever beat them up? No you didn't, apart from Lev.
Lev has a very cheerful and playful personality and he doesn't even realise when he teases you for your height or whatever else. So he gets beat up with your clipboard one to many times.
Okay now I think about it, I think Kuroo would also be on your 'to hit' list. He is very good at provoking people and you. So he is also hit by your clipboard a few times too.
the poor clipboard is worn out.
You took this sport very seriously. The members often wondered why you didn't decide to play as a member on the girls team instead. When they asked you, you replied with
"It pains me to think that you lot would miss out on an awesome manager like me if i were to be a player instead, also because I know I would just be too good at the sport as a player so I decided to be nice and give you amatures a chance."
"Y/n you sound like Kuroo now..."
It wasn't long before Taketora began bragging about his team's manager to Hinata. Hinata thought you looked too scary and competitive for anyone to even see your feminine looks but the nekoma boys can see it clear as day.
Yaku was the only boy who never got told off by you. In fact, you actually get along with him pretty well, you both have very engaging conversations and he's the only one who receives pointers from you in your calm voice.
You have confiscated Kenma's phone a few times because he would get distracted by playing games on it and the poor boy wouldn't even glare or fight you about it like he would with Kuroo because he knew better.
The first time the boys saw you genuinely smile at practice, a smile that didn't have malicious intent or sarcastic, they were fawning all over you. That was also the first and last time they saw you flustered before being chased around the practice hall by you and your fists.
They'd see that smile again whenever they win a practice match or a real match in a competition and to them it makes victory taste that much sweeter.
Think even Hinata would agree with Taketora that you looked cute with that smile.
The boys sometimes forget that you do get into actual fights outside of school and practice so it often comes as a shock when they see you with some injuries when you go back to practice.
But they wouldn't want any other girl as their manager. They are more than happy to have you!
not proofread :/
But I had fun writing this like I did with the other post so thank you for the request!!

coworker!yamaguchi who's a barista at the local coffee shop with you. he's shy and soft-spoken but does his job extremely well, so none of the managers care that he's really weak on registers. talking to people isn't exactly his forté. he'd rather make drinks anyway.
alternatively, coworker!yamaguchi who easily steps in at the register when a rude customer begins to yell at you about her order. he places himself in front of you, hiding you from the absolute karen in front of him. the usual sparkle in his eyes falls flat despite the cheery (albeit empty) tone he takes with her.
"we're sorry to hear you weren't satisfied with your order. i'm happy to remake the drink to your taste free of charge."
"see, this is how you should be treating a paying customer! snootiness and rudeness will get you no—"
"as long as you apologize to my coworker first."
coworker!yamaguchi who watches the light drain from the customer's eyes. she splutters, speechless, and it's only as he pointedly stares at her that she begrudgingly turns back to you. she mumbles an apology with a scoff but an apology nonetheless.
coworker!yamaguchi who remakes her drink quickly and sends her away before immediately reverting to his shy self. he's a blushing stuttering mess under your gaze even as he asks you if you're okay.
and in the mean time, all you can think about is how much more of a mess he's going to be when you slip him your phone number.

Kinktober Day 21 <3
Kita x masturbation
Warnings: NSFW, fem reader
Words: ~900
Kinktober Masterlist II -> Next day
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kita groans and his head falls back while his hand steadily pumps his hard cock. There is only one thought on his mind, and that is you.
How your hands always feel so soft and warm around him. How you use just enough pressure to make his eyes roll back, your pace so teasingly slow and yet you both know that he won't last long when you touch him like this. He imagines that it's your hand wrapped around him, that your fingers graze along his tip and catch the sheer drop of precum between them. He clings to the mental image of you, but his hand feels so different compared to yours, it's hard for him to stick to his daydreams of you.
His gaze drops to the pair of red panties next to him, the ones he had sneaked from you at your last encounter. You sent him a text message with a winking emoji after noticing that he kept them, calling him a 'pervert' and telling him to enjoy himself. You demanded that he either returns them cleaned or gets you a new pair though. He quickly made up his mind to buy you a new pair- hell, he would buy the whole store for you if you wanted him to.
He squeezes his cock firmly, a wave of longing coming over him at the thought of you. Kita reaches for the flimsy red fabric, pausing for a second to look at it. His brown eyes are filled with desire when he thinks back about how good you looked wearing them, and memories of how he pulled them down with his teeth fill his mind.
"Y/n," he sighs and closes his eyes for a second before he brings the material down to his cock, almost releasing a whine when the soft fabric meets his sensitive tip. He wraps it around his cock and starts to slowly pump again, the feeling now even more pleasurable when he's imagining that it's you rubbing your panties against him, how warm you would feel, and how good you always smell. The thought about your smell has him hesitating for a second. He pauses his movements and slowly brings your panties to his face, a faint blush coating his cheeks at the thought of how you would tease him for masturbating and using your panties like this.
Kita inhales deeply, your sweet scent filling his nose along with his own, a mixture he's so familiar with. The smell reminds him of all the days he's spent entangled in his bed sheets with you, days full of whispered sweet words and the sound of skin clapping on skin as he thoroughly fucks you and makes sure you're satisfied at all times- something he considers his husband duties that he diligently fulfills every night with great pleasure.
He takes another deep breath and brings the fabric down to his cock, once again setting a slow pace that makes him clench his muscles and his cock twitch in his hand. Kita Shinsuke is a very rational and controlled man, but when it comes to anything that involves you, he finds himself filled with passion and desire that he can't explain with words, and he can feel the effect of it just now.
A soft moan leaves his lips, a deep breath coming from his nose as he increases the pace slowly, savoring every second of the pleasurable feeling. His eyes trail down to his hand, and he sees the way even more precum leaks from his tip, getting soaked up by the panties quickly.
He's close.
He grips his cock harder, slightly bucking his hips into the sensation while he keeps the pace fast and hard, just like he knows you love to be fucked. The thought of your pussy makes him groan and he finds himself so close, so damn close while his hand keeps on pumping himself, the clapping noise echoing through the room loudly. His eyes are closed, his brows furrowed when he thinks about how good you would take him, how you would ride him and make him feel good, and it's the thoughts of your pussy that make him reach his high abruptly. Thick spurts of cum stain the panties when he grabs his cock tightly, his muscles tensed as he groans your name and forgets about everything else but you. Pleasure rushes through his body, a few low grunts leaving his lips and he stops pumping his cock finally when his muscles start to relax again.
He stays in his position for a few more moments, his chest heaving heavily while he slowly calms down and shakes his head. He misses you so badly. Two weeks without you feel like an eternity to him, and he knows for sure that the twins would tease him for how lovesick he acts without you. But the need for you almost consumes him, and he can't wait to finally have you in his arms again, not the slightest bit embarrassed by his feelings.
Kita makes sure to catch all of his cum with your panties, deciding that they look even prettier like this. He ponders on sending you a picture of them, to show you how much he missed you, but he gets interrupted by these thoughts when his phone suddenly starts to ring.
His eyes dart to the small device and he reaches for it to read the name, his lips curling into a fond smile when he accepts the call.
"Hey, angel. I just thought about you."

Karasuno, Shiratorizawa, Inarizaki and Nekoma:
Manager has an Art Exibit
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Karasuno x GN! Manager; Shiratorizawa x GN!Manager; Inarizaki x GN! Manager; Nekoma x GN! Manager
Warnings: PURE FLUFF, light swearing
A/N: This is an Anon request
Karasuno
The most feral of the 4 teams
I think we all know this but just to reiterate
Literally, I don’t care if they know absolutely nothing about art
The fact is they all suddenly become FASCINATED by it just because their manager is into it
Asahi has the most appreciate, followed by Kiyoko and Yachi
When they first find out you are into Art, they demand to see what you do daily
Idk if you only added one line to a drawing or maybe planned a new piece of pottery
These boys will be so into it!
They will ask the same question daily which is “can you teach me YN?”
When you tell them you have an exhibit coming up, they don’t even ask if they are invited
They just assume 😌
If it’s at a fancy place, they were their school uniforms because it’s the nicest thing they own 🤣
Daichi reminds them to keep the volume to a minimum
Hinata tells Kageyama not to look at anything breakable because his face is ugly/scary enough to break it on site
The “iTs My FaCe AsShOlE” speech follows
Tsukki is actually semi interested and wanders around looking at the exhibits
Noya and Tanaka glare at everyone until they say how amazing your pieces are 🙄
Ennoshita tells you that he will forcefully remove them if needed
Suga actually asks detailed questions about your work and super interested
Hinata is forced to stay next to Yamaguchi so he doesn’t accidentally break anything
All in all, solid 20/10 support and 6/10 safety around breakable pieces 🥰
Shiratorizawa
The most regal of the teams
Literally they showed up, literally in suits YN
SUITS 🫡
Someone quick, take a picture for your memory wall 📱
Honestly they don’t talk about your art much because volleyball practice is for volleyball
But after practice, Semi, Reon and Tendou show the most interest
Semi is super into your style and is always looking at your sketches/ finished products
Reon and Tendou are just super supportive, giving feedback and wanting to learn more
Ushijima doesn’t say anything BUT he is totally listening and storing away everything you say
Goshiki, well Goshiki tries 😅
He wants to know more but the boy doesn’t have a creative bone in his body
He is the definition of a “super volleyball idiot”
Shirabu and Kawanishi don’t really understand art but they still encourage you none the less
At your exhibit, they all walk the floor together
Like a flock of birds 😂
One of them moves and they others follow
They only mingle with you and keep a close eye on your work
Literally they don’t want anyone messing with all the hard work you’ve put in
You’ll talk with them about what you’ve done and that’s when Ushijima surprises you
“I see you used the light purple over the dark purple Yn, that was an excellent move.”
The team 👉🏻👁️👄👁️
Tendou 👉🏻🖐🏻👁️⭕️👁️🖐🏻
You 👉🏻🥹
These boys adore you so much YN, solid 10/10!
Inarizaki
Kita puts it on the board in the teams locker room
“YN’s art exhibit at 7pm TUESDAY NIGHT! Show up or I’ll make sure you get benched!” -Kita ❤️
That message was meant for one person and one person only
And I think we all know who 👀
*cough* ATSUMU *cough*
It’s not that Atsumu doesn’t support you, it’s just that his brain really only functions on volleyball
Kita and Aran will use every change they get to hype up your art work
Omimi suggests they use it in volleyball somehow
Even if it’s pottery or creative writing, they find a way
Akagi is super interested in what you do, always asking questions
Suna sits by you while you work, you have an unspoken relationship of just silent co-existence
He’s super peaceful 😌
Ginjima is a hype man, literally show him your new work and he will scream your praises
Osamu and you both encourage each other in your chosen talents
You taste his creations and give feedback and he critics your art
He’s an honest boy and we support it!
Riseki, our sweet baby, just loves supporting you because it makes you smile
At the exhibit, they honestly act semi normal
Atsumu and Osamu promised not to fight
Suna and Ginjima stood in between Samu and Sumu so they DIDNT fight
Kita, Aran, Omimi and Akagi are all like ridiculously interested in art
Like they talk to you about all the exhibits and point out their favs
Riseki kind of stands there, awkward but he tries
Sumu compares art to volleyball and how he’s basically the artist of the team
Samu tells Sumu that volleyball is a sport, not an art which leads to fighting
Which then leads to Suna and Gibjima having to take the children home early
Solid 10/10 moral support but they might cause you a lot of stress 😅
Nekoma
I’m calling it, best team for Art Exibit support goes to Nekoma 🏆
Literally they are the most calm of all of the teams here and definitely beyond supportive
Literally YN, they worship the ground you walk on
So when they find out you are into Art, oh lord
They bug you non-stop to show them what you’re doing
Kuroo doesn’t even need to remind them you have an exibit, they just show up
Kai and Yaku are your support system, giving feedback and helping you carry things and organize everything
Yamamoto is security, hype man and literally #1 Yn simp
Kenma thinks your art is awesome and you’re one of the only people he talks to regularly
Lev, Shibayama, and Inuoka literally adore you so much and want to know everything about your art
Fukunaga, a fellow artist but with words, literally always knows just the thing to say to cheer you up
And Kuroo talks about how you are the carbohydrates that fuel the team 😂
Because he would and we all know it
At your exhibit, they are the first to show up and the last to leave
Kenma might sneak off and play a game or two
But the rest are super interested
Kai takes photos, if allowed, and posts them in the teams group chat
Yaku will discuss every single exibit with you
Kuroo stands around like a proud dad 😂
Lev critics things because he’s an honest boy even thought he knows nothing about art
Inuoka and Shibayama literally just gawk at you because you are so cute when you are happy
Yamamoto is alot like Tanaka and Noya but a tiny bit tamer
Fukunaga takes notes on what he wants to talk to you about later when he finally gets to discuss your art with you
100/10 support

Gin shifts in bed, groaning at the nonstop noise of her phones notifications going off. Turning on her side, she tugs the pillow over her head and curls into herself, legs tight to her frame. The continuous noise of her phone going off was starting to irritate her.
"Who's messaging you on a Saturday this early?"
The voice next to her makes her let out a sleepy moan, feeling him turn in bed and wrap his arms around her waist, pulling her leg over his hip. Gin couldn't help but lazily place her hand on the top of his head and gently pet his hair. The feeling of his lips grazing her chest sent a small chill up her spine, causing a small grin to form on her lips.
"Someone's blowing up the group chat for no reason," she mutters softly, trying to relax again and fall back asleep. "Just ignore it, Yuuji."
"If you say so," he responds, nestling himself between her supple breasts and licking a stripe between them.
Gin was never the type of girl to hold long-term relationships, let alone trust anyone with her true self. But when it came to Yuuji Terushima, she'd only allow him to see a deeper side of her that other's weren't allowed to see. Helping her out through heartbreaks, saving her from sticky situations, and even being emotional support for her.
Despite being childish and energetic, Gin never had a disliking to Terushima like she did with other people. Over the years of knowing him, she developed a fondness for him, despite knowing he was a bit of a flirt. She knew it wasn't love; it was lust over everything. She trusted him more than most of the guy friends she has, and he never left her side.
Their torturous game of Cat and Mouse was fun for them. It kept Terushima on his toes and kept Gin from feeling some kind of relief in never desiring an official relationship without the problems. Luckily their little charade was never picked up by any of their friends.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
"Son of a bitch...," Gin muttered before turning slightly, feeling his arms let go of her to let her pull away.
Feeling his fingers dabble on her stomach, she slaps his hand away from her with a light laugh. She unlocked her phone and opened up her group chat ready to start typing to shut them up. But when she skimmed through the messages, her heart dropped in her chest with her eyes went wide. Looking at the time gave her a sudden jolt, tearing herself away from Terushima and jumping out of his bed.
Tumblr media
Eyes going wide, Terushima sits up on his elbows, watching Gin run around his room gathering her things while trying to text on her phone. Panic written in her eyes and movements, making him slightly concerned over the matter. He didn’t think she’d have a shift at the bathhouse today, but she could have been called in.
Before he could open his mouth to ask her what was wrong, Gin looked over at him, tugging up her jeans from the previous night. “Drop me off at the Family Mart by my house!” She nearly screamed at him with urgency in her voice, then dove back to trying to find her shirt. “I-I forgot I have to be at this game for the volleyball team! Ugh! I hate everything!”
Terushima couldn’t help but laugh at her distress, seeing her frantically trying to get dressed. He was slightly surprised seeing her going through her overnight bag and quickly brushing her hair up in a high ponytail. She came prepared, but just for the dick appointment?
“Where’s the game at?” Terushima asked, getting out of his bed and walking towards his bathroom to quickly clean himself up. “I can just-”
“Don’t finish that sentence!” She snapped at him before he could finish it. She walked over to him with furrowed brows, lips formed into a slight frown. “No one can know that we’re sleeping together. Just drop me off at the Family Mart, they’ll pick me up there.”
At her domineering tone, he couldn’t help but laugh in amusement despite the small sharp pain in his heart. “And she starts demanding favors from me; I’m flattered.” He retorts in a smug voice as he sees her face contouring from panic to anger.
“Yuuji, I fucking swear you won’t be fucking anything for the rest of your life.” She threatens snappily, his hand going to pat the top of her head.
“Fine, fine, I’ll take you. You owe me though.” He responds coolly with a smile. When the look of relief washes over her, he grinned the moment she turned her back. “Use that tone with me again, I’ll make sure you won’t be getting off at all.”
When he shut the bathroom door, Gin felt her cheeks grow warm. Growling in irritation, she glared back at the door before texting her group chat again to let them know she’ll be there. Silently hoping Terushima wouldn’t take his sweet ass time to clean himself up to just drop her off.
Her relationship with Yuuji Terushima is something she wanted to keep just between them. No strings, no drama, just time to get their sexual desires out of their system until the next time.
Tumblr media
As if Lady Luck was on their side, Zanpakuto made it to the gym that their game was organized at just the right time. Quickly everyone got off the bus and was sent to the locker rooms to go change into their jerseys and uniforms. The guys obeyed what Gin ordered them to do from changing quickly to warming up and finishing up with a smidge of practice without question.
Gin sat back on the bench with her notebook in hand, letting out a sigh as she relaxed a bit. At least with the Psychology club, she was able to catch a break over the weekends and have her time to herself, switching to the volleyball club became a hard transition. She didn’t want to wake up early in the morning, she didn’t want to stay late at school later than needed before needing to go to work.
But a small price to pay to help out her friends with their club and beloved sport.
Once the game was set in play, Gin set her gaze on her team and analyzed each of their movements. Subtly taking down the needed notes of where improvements were needed and what was working for them. At some point, she caught herself getting immersed in their game, her gaze turning to their opposing team.
Grand Line’s team didn’t seem to take their game seriously, seeming to play the game just for fun rather than trying to win despite their ace and setter shouting at their captain to take the game seriously. But by the looks of their libero, he kept making heavy eye contact with Katakuri with every chance ball made or every save.
As much as Gin knew little about Katakuri through Jezebel, their rivalry was interesting. It couldn’t be their height difference, this had to run deeper than just that.
With the first set, Zanpakuto had the game in the bag by 25:23 and broke them into a small break before switching sides. Gin couldn’t help but look over at the other team handing out water bottles and towels to the guys. They talked amongst themselves as well taking their quick break of drinking water and patting off their sweat with their towels, she couldn’t help but watch them.
They all looked so lively and in sync with each other, despite seeing the green-haired male snapping at the blond male every so often before the redhead female on their team barked at them to knock it off. Their captain seemed so childish, seeing him hop around as if he still had the energy to still be hyper.
She had to admit, he was slightly reminding her of a certain male in her life. Volleyball was just a game with no real goal as long as there is fun in the game.
“What are you staring at, Gin?” Tomoe’s voice fell next to her, having her glance up at him quickly before looking back at the other team. His yellowish-green eyes followed to where she was looking before grinning, “Grand Line is quite the team, aren’t they?”
“They have no definitive motives or set pattern, they’re erratic like Johzenji,” Gin noted, watching the other team interact and even laugh amongst themselves. “Despite their ace and number 3 are rivals, they work well together. Their libero is flexible with fast reflexes, which alone makes him a dangerous opponent. Their numbers 5 and 8 sure don’t get along either but they know how to work as a team when it calls to it. Strange team.”
Tomoe nodded his head, “I’m intrigued by their thought process. Being able to jump from nine points to twenty-three so effortlessly.” His voice drops a couple of octaves with an almost sinister gleam in his yellow-green eyes and his lips curling into a grin. “The fear of losing could be their downfall as well as their adrenaline inducer. I can’t wait to see how everything goes.”
At the sound of the whistle being blown by one of the refs, each team set down their towels and water bottles before heading back onto the court. Gin collected their towels and water bottles as they ran off to the court, setting down the sweat-filled towels on the bench and taking the water bottles to get refilled. Quickly running off to the sidelines to go do just that, hauling the heavy bag with her to make it a quicker trip.
Knowing that Junzo can take the notes that were needed for their gameplay whilst she was briefly gone, Gin had a little ease on her time limit. Filling each water bottle with ice water with haste, she couldn’t help but look back at their game. Her eyes follow the ball and watch each player doing whatever they could to keep the ball from touching the ground. The squeaking of the shoes against the waxed gym floors started to grow on her.
Hearing the guys’ shouting echo across the gymnasium with the lingo of the sport steadily made sense to her. Although, it did sound the same to her followed by defeated groans and excited cheers from the players. Glancing back at the game again, it amazed her how serious the guys were about the sport, the solid passion or drive to just win. That’s all it ever came down to was for them to win.
Returning to Zanpakuto’s bench with the filled bottles, Gin set back down the case before hopping back on the bench to watch the game.
After watching several rounds go by, Gin had the sudden urge to use the restroom. Quietly excusing herself to run to the restroom, she ran off the sides to find the nearest bathroom and to get back as soon as possible. She wasn’t even sure if this was allowed, but neither their coach nor teacher advisor seemed to care.
The ball came fast towards Zanpakuto’s side of the net, Katakuri waiting to give Dagger and Seifer the signal to jump to block the ball. Watching Grand Line’s number 5 spike the ball with a cross-shot, Katakuri was fast to block the ball straight down. The ball slammed against the court floor with Grand Line’s number 11 diving to save it but was a second too late.
Giving Zanpakuto another point led them to serve the next round. Tomoe silently pinpointed where he wanted the ball to go as he spun the ball between his hands, mentally configuring what type of serve to give that would grant them their next point. At the sound of the referee’s whistle, he tossed the ball in the air before giving himself a running start to run and then jump.
Number 3 of the Grand Line quickly took notice of the other players of Zanpakuto covering the back of their heads as their Ace served the ball. But before he could warn his other teammates, his feet moved faster trying to save the ball. The ball slammed hard against number 3’s face, hard enough to throw him out of bounds.
The sudden silence of the game had Gin running back to the court in fear that she missed something important. But when coming back, she saw one of Grand Line’s players get slammed off the court by one of Tomoe’s sinister serves. Feeling her gasp get caught in her throat, her body raced towards the player as a minor timeout struck the moment he slammed into the floor and didn’t immediately jump back.
Number 3 groaned in pain after a few moments of the initial shock washed over him, his eyes slowly opened to see an unfamiliar beautiful face looking down at him with a worried expression. She held a towel in her hand, blood staining the baby blue towelette that didn’t belong to her. She wasn’t Nami or Robin who came to check on him, she was Zanpakuto’s manager- That thought alone made his breath get caught in his throat and his cheeks redden.
“Are you okay? Tomoe’s serves aren’t entirely safe to be blocking with your face.” Gin’s voice was rather emotionless with faint hints of concern written in, her eyebrows knitted together with her lips slightly turned into a frown.
Number 3’s nose starts to gush out more blood, his eyes staring up at her, speechless, and just nods his head in silence. She helped him sit up before pressing her towelette over his nose and having him hold his head down. Her touch was gentle when he reached his hand up to take over holding the towel to his nose, their fingers brushed as she retracted her hand from him. Her skin was soft as if her hand never tarnished from handy work.
At the sound of footsteps running towards them, Gin stands up with him looking up at her with an awestruck gaze. Her squinted eyes stared down at him with a subtle gentle look with her lips forming into a line.
“Keep your head down so the blood can flow out and you won’t choke on it.” She says in an almost sweet tone but still stony from emotion. He watched her turn on her heel to trot back over to her team’s side of the court.
Holding her towel to his face made his heartbeat skip a beat with an indescribable feeling forming in his stomach. He couldn’t stop staring at her, watching her walk up to their Ace and snap at him before going back to the bench. With the sound of his name being called, he looked over to see his managers, teacher advisor, and coach run up to him. They asked him the same question that Zanpakuto’s manager asked him.
As much as he didn’t care about his current state and needed to go back to their game, he begrudgingly went with his manager to the first aid to check on his nose. Walking off with Robin leading him out of the gym with his head down, he couldn’t help but look back at the manager of Zanpakuto. He wanted to know who she was and why she helped him despite being on the other team.
After the match with Zanpakuto winning in the end, both teams went out of the gym to a meal prepared for both teams to celebrate their good work in the courtyard. Both the teachers and coaches congratulated each other with Grand Line's teacher announcing the meal was for all of them, giving credit to their number three. When they were dismissed, everyone raced over to the tables that were neatly laid out for them.
The managers of both teams helped out the guys get their plates and utensils before getting their food. Everything worked out fantastic with the teams starting to mingle amongst themselves and the managers coming together.
Sanji stood with Luffy and Law near one of the barbecue grills, a cherry red lollipop hung out of his mouth with his ocean blue eyes trailing off to the other side of the courtyard. A small smile curled at his lips, only partially listening to Luffy’s story he was telling to mainly just Law.
Ever since the manager of Zanpukto helped him out, he couldn’t help but want to talk to her. Although she looked aloof and wanted nothing to do with people from afar, she seemed pretty passionate about her team. He didn’t know why he felt so drawn to her, she didn’t do anything but she just seemed intriguing as if she was a mystery.
“Sanji-ya, who are you staring at?”
Sanji turned his head letting out a soft ‘hm’ as if she wasn’t staring off. His ocean blue eyes shone in semi-interest towards his male friend, expressing his attention was on him now. Law stared at the blond with an expressionless gaze and his eyebrow rose.
“What?” The feigning innocence in Sanji’s voice caused Law to roll his eyes.
“Why don’t you go talk to her?” Luffy asked with cheeks stuffed with meat, holding a fork of meat already close to his mouth. His onyx eyes shifted from Sanji to the manager of Zanpakuto who sat on a chair with the other manager of their team and Katakuri. “She seems fun! She let me take the last piece of meat!”
“You still need to give back her hand towel,” Law mentioned, watching Sanji visibly shudder in his spot as if he was nervous.
Sanji turned to look at the pair, “I can’t give her back the bloodied towel!” Sanji exclaimed with his curled eyebrows knitting upwards. “It’s filthy! A lady shouldn’t take back a dirtied token!”
“She’s not a princess, Sanji-ya.” Law clicked his tongue in slight annoyance, his eyes then shifting to Luffy. “Isn’t your brother dating her sister?”
Luffy shrugged his shoulders, “I stay out of my brothers’ relationships when I can.” He almost sounded uncharacteristic, causing the other two to look back at him in shock. He looked back at his friends, smiling and then laughing, "I'm kidding! Ace is dating the head lady of the Baba Yaga Bath House. I dunno if they're related."
"They look alike," Law deadpanned, blinking his golden eyes at Luffy with his lips turned to a slight frown. He looked back at Sanji, “Just go talk to her. You never had a problem talking to girls before.”
Sanji shook his head, “What do I even say to her without her finding me as the guy that bled on her towel?”
“Just pretend she’s Nami or Robin,” Law answered simply with a slight shrug of his shoulders before biting into his onigiri.
Before Sanji could back out again, Luffy laughed as he shoved him in the direction of Zanpakuto’s manager. Sanji stumbled forward with his arms flailing and trying to skip to a stop but ended up hopping to the middle of the courtyard. He stood up straight, looking around quickly before straightening himself up and approaching the manager.
Law had a point; How hard is it for him to talk to females?
Walking up to Gin, Sanji was ready to properly introduce himself but momentarily froze at the sight of Katakuri standing next to Gin’s seat and Junzo on her other side. Junzo was the first to take notice of Sanji’s presence, stepping aside taking notice he wanted to talk to Gin. In mid-conversation, Katakuri’s eyes shifted to the side before narrowing down on the blond male approaching them. This caused Gin to look away from the middle blocker to the front of her to see Sanji.
Gin turned her head with her cheeks filled with her food, her sights focusing on Sanji. Swallowing her food, she wiped her mouth with her napkin and setting her legs back to the ground. Her cheeks warmed when her eyes met his, seeing his faint blush forming on his cheeks.
“Oh hey,” Gin was the first to break the silent stare, her eyes averting away from his. “How's your nose?”
Sanji nervously laughed with a hand rubbing the back of his neck. “It’s better! Thank you for helping me out before our managers could get to me.” He smiled, his other hand going into the pocket of his gym shorts. He looked down at her, his eyes moving down to her empty plate. “How did you like the food?”
Gin waved off her friends with a grin forming on her lips. “It was delicious! Everything was seasoned so heavenly, the meat juicy, everything was so flavorful!” She beamed happily as she leaned slightly forward in her chair. “My compliments to the chef~”
“You’re too kind, Mademoiselle,” He sheepishly laughed with his smile growing, his heart beating faster in his chest. “I’m Sanji by the way.”
“Gin,” She responded before standing up to get more food. “You’re a fantastic chef, Sanji! I can’t wait to eat more of your food!”
Before she could walk away, Sanji’s shy and bashful demeanor immediately flipped. “I can get more for you! It won’t be any problem, and you’re probably parched too.” He offered in a gentlemanly manner, holding his hand out to take her plate from her.
Looking down at his offering hand and then back up at his eyes, Gin felt her heart grow warm. As she was used to Tomoe being chivalrous towards her but from Sanji, it felt different and gentle. She couldn’t tell whether she liked it or loved it in a sadistic manner. Sanji seemed nice anyways, and if he was willing to get her more food, she wouldn’t mind it.
“Will you?” He nodded, “Thank you. More meat please and light ice on the drink.” She sheepishly handed him her plate with her gaze averting away from him.
Sanji motioned her to sit back down before walking off with her plate humming. There was almost a bounce in his walk as he went towards the grills to fetch her more meat, a smile curling at his lips with his heart racing in his chest. Excited to be serving a pretty girl food and getting the chance to talk to her.
From his other teammates, they watched Sanji yet again be bossed around by another girl. But of course, Sanji doesn’t mind it at all. Women always came first for him and he’ll do anything to get an appraisal from them, or even a chance to maybe get noticed by them. Nami couldn’t help but sigh upon seeing Sanji’s puppy-like state, swearing that if he had a tail, he’d be wagging it.
Throughout the rest of the cookout, Sanji sat with Gin and talked to her. As she was listening to one of Sanji’s stories about one of their games with Johzenji, her phone started to buzz in her jacket pocket. While letting him know she was still listening and that she needed to check her phone for work, he happily continued.
Upon unlocking her phone, she saw she had several messages from Terushima and a few followed by the Miya twins. There was a singular message from her sister letting her know the game plan for when she comes into work that night. Gin let out a sigh before typing back a quick response to the twins and then looking back at Sanji with her full attention on him.

But soon their time together had to come to an end when both teacher advisors and coaches told both teams it was time to leave. While helping to clean up, Gin had given Sanji her number before going off to stay with her team. But before Sanji could attempt to ask her out on something to date, Tomoe and Anzai appeared on either side of her and tossed a threatening glare back toward the spiker.
Later on that night, Gin was now at the token counter at Baba Yaga’s with a bored look in her eyes. It was one of the slower nights at the bathhouse, giving her time to finish up homework and study for a bit. It was enough to keep her busy in between guests and distract her from wandering over to the front to talk to Jezebel who worked at the reception desk.
But that was only if she had something to keep her busy.
Before their late-night activities, Gin finished up her homework with Terushima and even did a quick pop quiz. The perks of having an intelligent best friend that acted like a horny frat boy, lucky her. So she didn’t have any school work to do; let alone, she left her stuff over at his place due to being late.
Behind the counter, Gin wasn’t allowed to be on her phone. Rarely ever had the chance to check her phone due to guests always coming up asking for bath tokens or help to find their rooms. But tonight, it was painfully slow with the exception of the Miya Twins being in the bathhouse. But shockingly, they even left her alone.
That night Jezebel wasn’t scheduled to work, so she was really bored and alone.
Leaning on the desk, Gin let out a sigh before dropping her head and letting her ponytail fall over her shoulder. She could go bother the twins if she wanted to but she wasn’t sure if they were in the baths, hot springs, or in their room. But at the same time, she didn’t want Atsumu to start jumping to conclusions and to start thinking she was into them.
Just before she could entirely leave her post to take a “bathroom” break, Gin’s phone vibrated a few times on her side of the desk. Leaning back and sitting down in the swivel chair, she looked down at her phone to the lock screen of Grimmjow lighting up with text notifications popped up. Leaning up slightly to look around, she pulled herself into the desk in the chair before picking up her phone.
She knew she shouldn’t look at her phone, but she was dying of boredom.

Manager Birthday Surprise
Word Count: 4143
Warnings: None
Headcanons: Nekoma x Fem! Manager ︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
As the sun began its descent behind the school buildings, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, Y/N finished tidying up the gymnasium of Nekoma High. The air was filled with the lingering sounds of volleyballs thumping against the hardwood floor and the echoes of laughter from her friends. Today had been just another busy day, one filled with her usual responsibilities as the team manager. Yet tomorrow was special—it was her birthday.
The thought had flitted through her mind throughout the day, but now, as she watched her teammates packing up their gear, a sense of unease settled in. With all the upcoming exams and tournaments, it was easy for people to forget. Y/N tried to shake off the feeling; after all, she didn’t want to be the one to burden her friends with her expectations.
“Y/N! Come help me with this!” Lev Haiba shouted from across the gym, his voice slicing through her thoughts like a knife. She smiled, grateful for the distraction, and walked over to him. Lev was his usual energetic self, his hair flopping in every direction as he fidgeted with a net.
“Sure thing, Lev. What do you need?” she asked, taking the net from him. She admired how he always seemed to radiate enthusiasm, even when he stumbled over his own feet.
“Just trying to get this thing down! It’s like a puzzle, and I think I’m missing a piece!” He grinned sheepishly, and Y/N couldn’t help but laugh.
As they worked together, the gym echoed with the sounds of her teammates—Kuroo was barking orders, Kenma was zoned out on his phone, and Yaku was barking at Lev to focus. Y/N felt a warm glow of belonging. These were her friends, her family, and they made every day at Nekoma worthwhile.
But as the clock ticked closer to closing time, Y/N felt that familiar twinge of disappointment again. Would they remember? She had no reason to doubt them, but her heart had been let down before, and that fear lingered like a shadow.
“Hey, Y/N!” Kuroo called out, breaking her from her reverie. “Can you grab the water bottles from the back room? We need to make sure everyone stays hydrated.”
“Of course! Be right back!” she replied, grateful for the task to keep her mind busy. As she headed toward the storage area, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off. The boys had been acting a little more secretive than usual, huddling together in corners and whispering, but she brushed it off as normal team banter.
Meanwhile, in the back of the gym, Kuroo was rallying the troops for the surprise party. “Alright, guys! We’ve got to make this birthday special for Y/N. She does so much for us!” he declared, his eyes glinting with excitement.
“Who’s bringing the cake?” asked Nobuyuki Kai, glancing down at his phone where a list of supplies was displayed.
“I got it covered! I know the perfect bakery,” Yaku said, pumping his fist in the air. “Just remember to keep Y/N busy while we set everything up!”
“I’ll help with the decorations! I want to make it look epic!” Lev chimed in, his enthusiasm contagious.
“Lev, no more talking! Just grab the balloons!” Kuroo replied with a playful grin. “And for the love of all that is good, don’t let Y/N see you!”
Lev nodded vigorously, ready for the mission. As the boys split up into pairs, Yaku and Lev headed to the bakery while the others stayed behind to decorate.
...
The bakery was just a few blocks away, and as Yaku and Lev approached, the air was filled with the sweet scent of fresh pastries wafting through the open door. Lev practically bounced on his toes, his eyes wide with excitement. “I can already smell the cake!” he exclaimed, sniffing the air dramatically, his stomach rumbling in anticipation.
“Try not to drool all over the sidewalk,” Yaku teased, but he couldn’t help the grin that spread across his face. Lev’s excitement was infectious.
Inside, the bakery was a feast for the senses. Display cases gleamed with an array of treats—fluffy croissants, glossy eclairs, and, at the center of it all, the showstopper: an intricately designed chocolate cake, topped with vibrant sprinkles and delicate fondant decorations.
“Whoa…” Lev’s voice dropped to a whisper, his eyes sparkling like a child in a candy store. “That cake looks incredible!”
Yaku nodded, his heart swelling with pride. “It’s perfect. Y/N is going to love this,” he said, stepping up to the counter to place their order. The bakery’s owner, a cheerful woman with flour-dusted hands and a warm smile, greeted them.
“Looking for something special?” she asked, her eyes twinkling.
“Yes! We need that beautiful chocolate cake, please!” Yaku pointed, excitement bubbling within him.
“Great choice! I’ll get it for you right now,” she replied, bustling off to the back.
As they waited, Lev leaned closer to Yaku, his voice low and conspiratorial. “I hope she’s really surprised. She always does so much for us.”
Yaku nodded in agreement. “She deserves this. Let’s make it memorable.”
Just then, the woman returned, carefully balancing the cake on a large plate. “Here you go! Just be careful with it—it’s a bit fragile.”
“I got this!” Lev declared, reaching out eagerly to grab the cake box. “Let me carry it! I promise I won’t drop it this time!”
“No way, I’ll handle it. I’m not letting you ruin this birthday surprise,” Yaku countered, gripping the box tightly and pulling it closer to him.
Lev’s competitive spirit flared up. “Come on, Yaku! It’s my turn! I can do it!” He lunged forward, trying to snag the box away.
“No! I’ve got it! You’ll just mess it up!” Yaku insisted, yanking it back toward himself.
In the ensuing tug-of-war, both boys stumbled slightly, their grips slipping. Suddenly, in a dramatic twist of fate, they both lost hold of the cake. The box flew into the air like a poorly thrown basketball, spinning in slow motion.
“NO!” Yaku shouted, eyes wide in horror as he watched it descend.
The cake hit the pavement with a resounding splat, rich chocolate frosting exploding outward like a delicious disaster. Sprinkles flew everywhere, raining down like confetti.
“OH. MY. GOD!” Lev gasped, staring at the mess before them. The once-beautiful cake was now a sad, chocolatey puddle, oozing on the ground.
“HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM!” Yaku shouted, his voice thick with disbelief as he stared down at the ruined cake, shock written all over his face.
Lev’s expression turned frantic as he knelt beside the wreckage, his heart sinking. “What do we do? What do we do?!” His voice was a mixture of panic and desperation, glancing around as if expecting help to appear from thin air.
“I don’t know! We can’t go back empty-handed! Y/N is going to be so disappointed!” Yaku exclaimed, running a hand through his hair in frustration.
“We have to fix this! Maybe we can scoop it back up? Nobody will notice!” Lev suggested, his eyes darting to the remains, desperately trying to find a solution.
“Lev, that’s disgusting! We can’t serve her that!” Yaku replied, shaking his head vigorously, his brow furrowed in concern.
“Then what? There’s got to be another bakery nearby!” Lev suggested, already scrambling back to his feet. His enthusiasm to find a solution was palpable, though Yaku could see the worry in his eyes.
Yaku took a deep breath, trying to think clearly. “Okay, okay. Let’s find another cake. We can’t let this ruin her birthday.”
Lev nodded, determination flashing in his eyes. “Right! We’ll make this work. Y/N deserves to be celebrated!”
...
Back in the gym, the sound of sneakers squeaking against polished wood echoed softly as Y/N moved methodically to tidy up the area. She hummed a cheerful tune, blissfully unaware of the chaos unfolding just blocks away. Her focus was entirely on making the space welcoming for tomorrow’s celebration; folding chairs, arranging volleyballs, and ensuring everything was in place for their practice.
In the corner, Kenma leaned against the wall, his usual quiet demeanor giving way to a soft smile as he watched her. He admired her dedication and the way she poured herself into everything she did—always the first to arrive, the last to leave. A pang of guilt washed over him as he thought about the surprise party. What if she didn’t love it? What if they had messed it all up?
“Hey, Y/N!” Kenma called softly, pushing himself to join the conversation, his heart racing slightly. “What do you think about the strategy for the upcoming tournament?”
She turned to him, her eyes lighting up at the chance to talk about volleyball. “Oh, definitely! I think we should focus on our defense,” she replied, her enthusiasm infectious. “We have to keep an eye on their spikes; they’re pretty fast!”
As they delved into the intricacies of their game plan, Y/N’s passion shone through. She animatedly described the opposing team’s strategies, her hands gesturing as she spoke. Kenma listened intently, nodding along, genuinely impressed. He felt a warmth in his chest as she outlined her ideas, her voice ringing with confidence. She always seemed to elevate those around her, making him want to step up his own game.
...
Meanwhile, Kuroo stood a few feet away, motioning for the others to gather in a huddle, urgency etched on his face. “Listen up, team! We need to distract Y/N while we figure out what to do about the cake!” he instructed, lowering his voice as if Y/N could somehow hear their plans from across the gym.
“Let’s keep her talking about volleyball!” Inuoka suggested eagerly, his eyes sparkling with excitement. “Or we can do that thing where we pretend to take her out for ice cream!”
“Great idea! We can split up, and I’ll take her to the snack bar for some treats while the rest of you finish up here,” Kuroo said, feeling the pressure mount. His brows furrowed slightly as he strategized on the fly. “We’ve got to keep her engaged, so she doesn’t suspect anything.”
Yamamoto chimed in, trying to help ease the tension. “I can help! We can make it sound like a special treat for all her hard work! Everyone loves ice cream!”
“Perfect! But we need to make sure she’s focused on us and not wondering why the rest of you are so quiet,” Kuroo warned, glancing back at Y/N. “We have to act natural, okay?”
As the plan solidified, the group split up, with Kuroo walking over to Y/N with a casual demeanor. “Hey, Y/N! We were thinking of hitting the snack bar for a little celebration,” he said, trying to sound nonchalant. “You’ve been working so hard lately, and we thought you deserved a treat!”
“Oh, that sounds great!” Y/N replied, her face lighting up with a smile, completely unaware of the panic brewing behind the scenes. “I could use a little pick-me-up!”
As Kuroo led her toward the snack bar, Kenma watched, feeling a mix of relief and nervousness. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something was about to go wrong, but he pushed it aside, focusing instead on Y/N’s laughter as she followed Kuroo, her spirit so contagious.
The rest of the team continued to hustle, gathering decorations and supplies for the party. Kuroo glanced back at them, a silent communication passing among them. Time was running short, and they needed to execute the surprise flawlessly. The clock was ticking, and as he stole a glance at Y/N, he couldn’t help but hope that everything would come together perfectly.
As they walked, the chatter of volleyball strategies continued, but in the back of Kuroo’s mind, he silently prayed that the cake catastrophe wouldn’t derail their carefully laid plans.
Meanwhile, Yaku and Lev were still reeling from their disastrous cake mishap, the rich, sticky frosting dripping down their clothes. As they rushed back toward the gym, they could feel their panic rising like the remnants of the fallen cake. “What are we going to do? She’s going to hate us!” Lev lamented, his eyes wide with horror, and he wiped a hand across his face, only to smear more chocolate on his cheek.
Yaku felt his own heart racing, a knot tightening in his stomach. “Just grab another cake! Quickly!” he urged, glancing around desperately as they sprinted down the street, the embarrassment of the moment still fresh in their minds. He scanned the nearby shops, each storefront seeming to mock their misfortune with cheerful window displays of perfect confections.
“Over there!” Lev shouted, pointing at a quaint little bakery tucked between a coffee shop and a boutique. Its sign read "Sweet Delights," and the warm light spilling out from the windows promised a treasure trove of baked goods. They bolted inside, the bell above the door jingling as they rushed in, the sugary scent enveloping them like a warm hug.
Inside, the bakery was a charming scene of pastel colors and delectable treats displayed behind a glass counter. Lev’s eyes darted from one cake to another, but he quickly felt overwhelmed. “What if they don’t have anything? What if this one is too plain?” he fretted, biting his lip anxiously, his usual bravado replaced by nervousness.
“Calm down!” Yaku snapped, shaking off the frosting residue from his hands. “Let’s just find something we can work with. We need to be fast!” His tone was sharp, but he felt just as panicked. They were on a mission to salvage the day, and he wouldn’t let their earlier mistake ruin Y/N’s birthday.
After a frantic scan of the counter, they finally spotted a simple vanilla cake, perfectly frosted with creamy white icing and topped with a solitary candle. It was plain, but it was also their only hope. “That one! Grab it!” Yaku shouted, pointing, relief flooding through him.
Lev rushed forward, nearly tripping over his own feet as he called out to the baker, “We’ll take that one, please!” He couldn’t help but feel the weight of the moment; this was a pivotal moment for them. He wanted Y/N’s birthday to be special, and a simple cake felt like a weak replacement for the beautifully designed one they had just ruined.
As the baker wrapped the cake in a box, Yaku leaned closer to Lev, trying to reassure him. “What if she doesn’t like this one?” Lev fretted again, his anxiety creeping back in. He ran a hand through his messy hair, frosting still sticking stubbornly to the tips.
Yaku gave him a firm look, forcing himself to sound more confident than he felt. “She’ll love it because it’s from us. We’re the ones who are supposed to make her birthday special, right? It doesn’t matter if it’s fancy or plain,” he said, his voice steadier than his thoughts. “What matters is that we’re celebrating her.”
Lev took a deep breath, nodding slowly. “You’re right. It’s the thought that counts, I guess,” he muttered, trying to convince himself as much as Yaku. They paid for the cake, and as they exited the bakery, the weight of urgency bore down on them once more.
With the cake secured in Lev’s hands, they sprinted back to the gym, their hearts racing, not just from the physical exertion but from the fear of what awaited them. They could already envision Y/N’s disappointed face, and they both silently vowed to do whatever it took to make this right.
As they approached the gym, Yaku shot a quick glance at Lev, a hint of a smile breaking through the remnants of frosting on his face. “Hey, no matter what happens, we’re in this together. If she doesn’t love the cake, we’ll just have to make her love us more!” he joked, trying to lighten the mood.
Lev chuckled, the tension easing just a little. “Yeah, and maybe we’ll add a bit of frosting to ourselves for extra charm,” he quipped, gesturing to the mess still splattered on their clothes.
...
Once back at the gym, the atmosphere crackled with excitement as the rest of the team had put the finishing touches on their surprise. The space had been transformed into a festive wonderland, bursting with color. Balloons floated lazily from the ceiling, their bright reds, blues, and yellows contrasting against the gym's muted tones. Streamers spiraled down the walls, creating a cheerful canopy overhead, while colorful banners adorned with “Happy Birthday, Y/N!” hung proudly from the bleachers. The sweet scent of vanilla and chocolate wafted through the air, mingling with the sounds of laughter and soft whispers, filling the gym with a sense of joy.
Kuroo, the unofficial ringleader of the group, positioned himself at the gym entrance, his heart racing with anticipation. He could hardly contain his excitement as he glanced at the decorated space, his thoughts racing. “Remember, everyone! When she walks in, we all yell ‘Surprise!’ Got it?” he instructed, his voice ringing with authority yet laced with the bubbling excitement of a child on Christmas morning. The boys nodded enthusiastically, their expressions animated as they exchanged nervous glances, each of them imagining the moment Y/N would step through the door and see what they had prepared for her.
“Got it!” they chorused back, the energy in the room palpable, building like the tension before a big game.
Meanwhile, Y/N was in the hallway, her mind focused on the tasks at hand. She was wrapping up the last of her duties, ensuring everything was in place after the team's rigorous practice. As she took a moment to appreciate the hard work everyone had put in, she heard Kenma’s voice break through her thoughts, a hint of nervousness underlying his usual calm demeanor. “Hey, how about we get some ice cream or something? I could really use a treat after practice,” he suggested, trying to sound casual but failing to mask the anxious glances he cast towards the gym entrance.
“Oh, sure! That sounds great!” Y/N replied, her spirits lifting at the thought of ice cream. It was a well-deserved treat after a long day. “Let me just finish putting these away,” she added, her voice brightening as she focused on her final tasks.
“Perfect! We should go now!” Kenma urged, his tone quickening with urgency as he gently nudged her towards the door. His eyes sparkled with the thrill of the upcoming surprise, and he could hardly contain his excitement. Kuroo, stationed just out of sight, was signaling frantically to the others, his heart pounding with anticipation.
This was it; this was the moment they had all been waiting for.
The door creaked open, and as Y/N stepped inside, her expression shifted from confusion to shock. The vibrant colors exploded around her like fireworks, and the cheerful faces of her teammates brought a smile to her lips, but it quickly faded into disbelief.
“Surprise!”
The collective shout echoed around her, a burst of joy that reverberated off the gym walls, and Y/N’s eyes widened in shock. The decorations, the balloons bobbing playfully overhead, and the warm smiles of her friends enveloped her like a cozy blanket. “Oh my gosh! You guys… You remembered!” she gasped, her voice trembling with emotion, her heart soaring as the realization washed over her.
Kuroo stepped forward, beaming with pride. “Of course we did! We wouldn’t forget the birthday of our amazing manager!” he declared, his voice laced with sincerity. His enthusiasm was infectious, and the rest of the team gathered around, their eyes sparkling with excitement as they watched her reaction.
Lev, still coated in remnants of frosting from their earlier mishap, held up the plain vanilla cake as if it were a trophy, a goofy grin plastered across his face. “And I promise I didn’t drop it this time!” he exclaimed proudly, his earlier embarrassment fading in the face of Y/N’s joy. The cake was simple but adorned with a single candle, glowing brightly against the stark white icing.
Laughter erupted as Y/N took in the scene, her emotions swelling. “You guys… this is incredible!” she exclaimed, tears welling in her eyes as she felt a rush of gratitude flooding her chest. “I can’t believe you did all this for me!”
But the joy was overwhelming, and as the realization of their effort washed over her, her voice caught in her throat, a mixture of disbelief and gratitude swirling within her. Tears spilled over, tracing paths down her cheeks as she blinked in surprise. The room fell silent for a brief moment, the laughter dying down as her friends registered the change in her expression. Concern flickered across their faces as they exchanged worried glances.
“Y/N, are you okay?” Kuroo asked, his smile faltering as he stepped closer, his brows furrowing in genuine concern. He couldn’t bear the thought of having upset her; the last thing he wanted was to ruin this special moment.
“I—” she started, but the words caught in her throat. “I’m just really happy,” she finally managed to say, tears spilling over and tracing paths down her cheeks. “No one has ever gone to such extreme lengths for me before, other than my parents.” Her heart felt so full, the love from her friends wrapping around her like a warm embrace. This was a moment she had never expected, and it touched her deeply.
The boys paused, their expressions shifting from worry to relief as they slowly began to understand. “Oh, thank goodness! We thought you were upset!” Lev exclaimed, his voice laced with concern, his playful demeanor fading into seriousness.
“Yeah, we wouldn’t want to ruin your birthday,” Yaku added, his brow furrowing with concern. The idea of upsetting her was the last thing they wanted.
Y/N laughed through her tears, shaking her head as she took a moment to compose herself. “No, no! I’m just… so overwhelmed. This means so much to me.” She looked around at the decorations, the smiling faces, and felt a sense of belonging she hadn’t realized she was missing. “Thank you all for this,” she said, her voice steadying with each word.
As the atmosphere shifted back to one of celebration, Kuroo motioned for everyone to gather around her, determination lighting up his eyes. “Okay, let’s do this properly. Happy birthday, Y/N!” he began to sing, his voice lifting in the air, and soon the others joined in, their voices harmonizing in a way that felt both joyful and supportive. The sound enveloped her, each note wrapping around her heart like a gentle hug.
Y/N felt a mixture of joy and disbelief wash over her as they sang, her heart swelling with emotion. She made a wish, closing her eyes tightly as the candles flickered softly in the dim light, and then blew them out to the cheers of her friends, her heart brimming with happiness.
“Now, let’s eat this cake before it melts all over Lev!” Kuroo joked, breaking the moment with his usual charm, and laughter erupted again, the earlier tension forgotten as they surrounded Y/N with love and celebration.
As they sliced into the cake, the chatter resumed, filled with playful banter and shared stories from their time together. Y/N felt like she was glowing, the warmth of their affection wrapping around her like a cozy blanket. She watched her teammates joking and laughing, each of them adding to the joy that filled the gym.
“Hey, Y/N,” Kenma said quietly, his gaze softening as he offered her a piece of cake. “I’m glad we could do this for you.”
“Me too, Kenma,” she replied, her voice full of sincerity as she accepted the slice. “It means the world to me.”
As the laughter continued and the atmosphere pulsed with joy, Y/N felt an overwhelming surge of love and gratitude for her friends. Without thinking, she opened her arms wide, and the boys responded immediately, rushing in for a group hug that enveloped her completely.
“Group hug!” Kuroo cheered, and soon all of them were gathered around her, their laughter filling the air as they squeezed tightly, a tangible warmth of camaraderie and affection surrounding her.
“You guys are the best!” Y/N exclaimed, her heart swelling as she nestled into the embrace, feeling their support envelop her like a safe haven. It was a moment she would cherish forever, a celebration not just of her birthday, but of the incredible bonds they had forged together.
As they finally pulled back, each wearing smiles that mirrored the joy in her heart, Y/N knew this birthday would be one she’d remember for years to come.

okay that kuroo piece is still coming but have this small sakusa x MSBY!manager blurb that I just thought up and got so excited about!! I’m marking this down as fem!reader just for this specific little ramble. it can be read separately from the series !!
warnings: none, but probably a bit of a disconnect from what really happens at charity galas lmao
Tumblr media
sakusa kiyoomi has a certain reputation for being very stoic and stand-offish in public- always polite but rather blunt in interviews. he’s tall, intimidating and not very personable around those who don’t know him, so it’s not a surprise people perceive him this way. his preference for wearing his mask most of the time only adds to this reputation, and he couldn’t care less. in fact, you would argue that he finds comfort in being perceived as unapproachable by strangers.
but when MSBY fans realize how horrifically down bad their favourite wing spiker is for the team manager, they have a field day with this absolutely drastic personality shift.
it starts with little jokes made by fan accounts about how much nicer he is to you in comparison to his teammates. they latch onto passing comments made by bokuto or atsumu about how when you’re at practice they feel at ease because they’re less likely to get obliterated by his sarcastic remarks.
no one has clued into the fact that you’re together yet, just that there’s some serious chemistry between you two.
it doesn’t go much further than that until the night of some charity event a lot of different teams are attending. of course managers are there, as well as coaches and trainers and JVA employees.
you’re doing the press/carpet walk before entering the event and in between photos and walking between journalists, one of the straps of your heels has come undone.
you frown a little and inspect it before realizing your dress restricts your ability to fix it yourself, so you nudge your boyfriend and stick your foot out to draw his attention to your predicament.
you don’t think twice about how there are no words are spoken. just a simple action and understanding between two lovers.
so people watch on as sakusa kiyoomi drops to his knees right then and there without protest and fixes your shoe. you take the opportunity to adjust the neckline of your dress (a deep, silky forest green to match his tie) and look around while you wait for him to finish.
you don’t realize the uproar this is bound to create, and you definitely don’t think twice about the fact that your boyfriend isn’t wearing a mask to this event.
…which means everyone is able to see the blush on his face and the tiny yet extremely lovesick smile on his lips as he gets up. you grin and pat sakusa on the cheek in thanks before walking to the next reporter, him trailing behind you dutifully.
you check twitter the next morning and your timeline is flooded with videos of that moment, captions gushing about how sweet and happy he looks. some fans go as far as to say he looks like a lost puppy following you around.
he doesn’t regret it one bit, but you have to comfort him when he loses his stand-offish reputation after that because he dreads the idea of more people possibly coming up to him in public.

I literally sprinted here to write this lmao

Tumblr media
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷  kuroo tetsuro has a thing for girls with long hair. so what if you're a girl with long hair? that doesn’t mean anything!
➼ pairing! kuroo tetsuro x fem!manager!reader
➼ warnings! none, just fluff and humor. maybe ooc because i haven't written in years??? unfortunately, because this is based on the scene of kuroo and yaku arguing about their preference, this is really for my long haired girlies 😣 i apologize to the short haired readers
➼ word count! about 1.4k
➼ author’s note! "haikyuu renassiance!" we all cheer in unison. anywho, this is my first time posting in two years. please be nice to me 🫡

"So, you prefer girls with short hair then, Yaku?" Kai asks, shedding off the white button-up of his school uniform and revealing his black practice t-shirt. The three third-year Nekoma players had found themselves in an empty classroom, deciding to use it as a makeshift changing room. Luckily for them, they had all worn their clean practice clothes under their school uniforms. Doing so allowed them to save time and cut back the number of minutes they were already going to be late to practice, thanks to Yaku getting distracted by a group of girls, which Kai noted all had short hair. Hence, his question.
Yaku paused his work of ridding himself of his tie to send Kai a proud grin, pointing towards him with both hands, “Yesss!
"And you, Kuroo?" Kai turns to him, now curious to know his captain's answer as well.
"Long." Kuroo's answer is firm, leaving no room for debate. Still, he glances at Yaku, as if daring him to try.
Yaku only snorts, shaking his head in amusement as he too turns to look at his captain, "Like that wasn't obvious."
"Ehh," Kuroo's eyes narrow, head craning down to peer at the libero, "What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means," Yaku starts, taking a step closer as he peers right back up at Kuroo, "Everyone knows you have a crush on our manager, who just so happens to have the longest hair I've ever seen!"
"Ehh?" Kuroo repeats, louder this time as he cranes his head down even more, "Who says I have a crush—"
"Hey!" The door to the classroom slides open with a shocking force, startling the boys and drawing the attention of all three of them to it. Kuroo and Yaku both grow rigid as they find you standing in its opening. Quiet pants slip past your lips, and you take a moment to catch your breath as you stare at the three of them before you begin speaking, "There you guys are! I've been looking for the three of you everywhere."
"Hello," Kai greets kindly, the only one not left in a stupor at your sudden appearance, smiling as you make your way into the classroom. "We apologize, we're running a bit late."
"Yeah," You huff, coming to a stop a few steps away from them as you cross your arms, "It was your guys' turn to set up the nets. So when you guys didn't show up in time to do so and none of you answered your phones, Coach sent me to find you guys. Didn't know I'd be going on a wild goose chase."
Your words leave you in a huff before your eyes land on Kuroo, raising an eyebrow at the captain. His shoulders tense even more at the sudden eye contact and he's quick to snap his head in the other direction. Kuroo suddenly feels warm, realizing how you could have easily heard the conversation transpiring between the three of them. Stupid Yaku, Kuroo curses the libero in his head, doesn't even know what he's talking about.
"Sorry, Y/N." And of course it’s Yaku who disrupts his thoughts, pulling Kuroo's eyes to him just as he sends you an innocent smile, "We got carried away, talking."
There's a teasing tone to Yaku's voice, and Kuroo knows it's directed at him. Why is he friends with him again?
"I don't even want to know," You speak, and Kuroo can envision you shaking your head at the three of them, "Just get dressed and get to the gym as quick as possible, please."
All three boys give some noise of recognition in response to your words, and Kuroo takes the chance to glance at you then. He's quick to regret it. Your hand rises just as he locks eyes with you, reaching up to tuck some of the more unruly pieces of your hair (which most likely came undone due to your seemingly frantic search of the three third years) behind your ear and out of your face. Kuroo's eyes follow the movement of your hand, trailing downwards and taking in the long strands of hair that fall well past your shoulders. Once again all too aware of the conversation he was just having with his teammates, the tips of his ears burn as he pulls his gaze away from you once more. He shakes his head, trying to get Yaku's words out of his mind. Just because he liked girls with long hair, and just because you so happened to be a girl with long hair, did not mean he liked you.
Right?
A snort of laughter suddenly leaves Yaku, having caught the interaction, and Kuroo turns to him with a heated glare. You don't miss the exchange between them either.
"Are you two having one of your petty arguments again?" You accuse, eyes glancing between Kuroo and Yaku who are suddenly staring back at you like two deers caught in headlights. "Seriously, you've been fighting like this since first year. What topic could you guys possibly still be discussing?"
Yaku's smirk returns as he glances at his captain with an all too knowing look before he turns back to you, "Well, if you really want to kn—"
"Nope!" Kuroo is quick to interject, speaking for the first time since you entered and drawing your attention away from Yaku and back to the captain himself. Your eyes widen as he begins to take long strides in your direction. "No arguing here!"
Your lips part, confusion taking over your features at the odd behavior your captain is displaying. You don't get the chance to say anything, however, as Kuroo makes a show of glancing at the clock on the wall before turning back to you with a dramatic gasp, "Oh, would you look at the time! We should really be heading to practice."
"You still have your school shirt on, Kuroo.” You point out when he stops in front of you, pointedly glancing down at Kuroo's attire, which consisted of his practice shorts and white button-up, with his red school tie hung loosely around his neck.
"I'll just change it once we're in the gym," Kuroo responds, waving away your interjections before he drops his hands onto your shoulders and forces you to turn around and back toward the door. You attempt to dig your heels down when he begins to push you in the direction of the door, but you're truly no match for his strength. Stupid volleyball training.
"Kuroo," You voice your protests, attempting to swat at his hands in order to get him to release you. Once again, your attempts remain futile, "Let go of me!"
"No can do! As captain and manager, it's our job to be on time to every practice. What would our team do without us?" Kuroo shakes his head, clicking his tongue as if he's scolding you. He turns back to Kai and Yaku, flashing them a warning smile, daring them to say another word. Yaku merely watches on with an unamused look, while Kai holds a placid smile. There's extra sweetness in his voice as he practically chirps out, "Bring my stuff to the club room, will you?"
"I was on time!" You retort, not giving Kai nor Yaku a chance to respond to their exasperating captain as you send them a pointed look, all the while succumbing to your fate and allowing Kuroo to push you out of the classroom. After all, he did have a point. It probably wouldn't be long before Lev managed to push somebody's buttons (most likely Yamamoto’s) one too many times and ended up in hot water. "The only reason I'm not there right now is because I came looking for you guys!"
"Ah, now is not the time to deal blame, Y/N. Our juniors are waiting on us." Kuroo argues back, shaking his head as he removes one hand from your shoulder to slide the door shut behind the two of you. Still, Yaku and Kai face the door as the sound of your guys' bickering persists. It grows quieter and quieter with each passing moment, and it isn’t until they can no longer hear your guys' voices does Yaku glance away with a shake of his head.
"He's clueless." Yaku deadpans, glancing back down at his tie as he continues to work on untying it.
Kai nods, neatly folding his button-up before placing it in his bag. "Completely."
