timeskip!Mallow ref sheet! She runs her family restaurant and she's great friends with Selene - Selene often goes out of her way to eat at the restaurant in Konikoni City for good luck. (And because Mallow's perfected Mallow Special is very nutritious!)

Name: Yao Wang Specialty: N/A Place of Origin: Konikoni, Akala Island Team: Pancham(main), Shiny Gyrados, Ninetails, Mienshao, Infernape, Delphox Not used for battle: Steenee, Comfey, Audino
Yao grew up with his father, Luomen, never straying outside the city of Konikoni. He found purpose in medicine, working under the guidance of his father, the owner of Akala's apothecary, who taught him extensively in the field. Accompanied by his loyal Pancham, whom he has raised from infancy and carries on his shoulder wherever he goes, Yao has honed his skills as a doctor. However, when the apothecary was on the verge of bankruptcy, Yao decided to enter into Astral's Final Test to become a trainer in order to raise money. Having been doing medical work his whole life, to try something new was surprisingly exhilarating. He was given his unique Pokeballs by a cheerful blonde was too loud for Yao's taste, who befriended him and was later revealed to be Alfred. Yao decided to join Alfred's team (the Allies) and travel with them as a trainer, sending money back home to his father every time he won a battle. Eventually, he rose to the position of director of Astral Institute's medical sector, putting him in charge of every Pokemon Center, where Yao dedicates himself to providing care and healing to Pokemon and trainers alike. He liked to pretend as if he was only doing this for the money, but he genuinely enjoyed battling, evident with how despite his healing profession, he was still a rather formidable member of the Elite Four. Fueled with thoughts of his father all alone in Konikoni, Yao ascended the ranks at rapid speed, winning every single battle with his intelligence and quick-thinking. He was the strategic sort of trainer, who only used the most effective moves and whose Pokemon was quick on their feet, always emerging from a battle relatively unscathed.

wait since people are sharing their grownup anipoke cast hcs im gonna share mine too :]
there's a lot of thinking behind every single one of them so please send asks if you're curious about one of them (or more) okay!!!! i love talking about my hcs LMAO
ash: ive got an entire story arc written for that boy. BUT im not gonna explain it here cause it's too long but basically he would become a pokemon teacher (NOT A PROFESSOR, im thinking more like what kukui does in the anime? which is teaching children about pokemon stuff in a school setting)
misty: i like to think she'd become quite the sporty type and maybe become a professional swimmer and participate in competitions and stuff
brock: pkmn doctor!!!! he has a lot of experience and maybe he'd train other younger doctors-to-be :]
tracey: i think art is more of a hobby to him, but @juliamex3 's idea of him taking commissions and becoming gary's assistant is genius so im stealing it HEHE
gary: pkmn professor and rival to goh, they don't specialize in the exact same fields but sometimes they work together. gary still loves to tease goh (they respect eachother but the teasing is eternal)
may: ill be completely honest and say may is the one ive given the least thought to. I'M SORRY BESTIE... id say she's still a coordinator and likes to bring smiles to people with her performances
dawn: im not 100% sure but im thinking something like a professional dancer but like not competitive, maybe she'd make a duo with zoey and they'd both do performances together
iris: she's still unovas champion ! she also beat cynthia's ass and now her goal is to beat ash's ass (in a battle.)
cilan: S class connoisseur, but there's still things to learn! which is why he rarely stays at the striaton cafe.
clemont: definitely not a gym leader anymore. he decided to let his sister take his place. hes an engineer and he's well known around the world for all of his inventions
serena: i don't think she'd keep doing performances all her life. after she becomes kalos queen, she'd start focusing on fashion designing. also i like to think that shauna would model for her :3
mallow : as the owner of ainas kitchen she opened a new restaurant in konikoni city where she lives with lillie!!
lillie: she writes children's literature!!!
lana: okay so i like to think that lana would specialize in water pokemon preservation. she would dive in specific areas to check the pokemons conditions and stuff
sophocles: he said he wanted to be an astronaut, i believe in him!! YOU CAN DO IT SOPHOCLES
kiawe: hes going to become kahuna after olivia but it's not going to be easy. hes going to travel across the world to learn more about pokemon and people first, and only then will he be recognized as kahuna
gladion: he researches pokemon at the aether foundation and someday will take his mother's role as president. he and goh have worked together before and they get along well
goh: pokemon professor, as i said he and gary are still rivals. goh specializes in legendary/mythical pokemon!!
chloe: i like to think that she would do something "normal" LMAO, maybe journalist, i can see her writing articles in newspaper, or photographer. it's hard to find something good for her because the anime didn't give us any clue ghdbfhd. i have more hcs for koharu but not related to her future job
#horizons squad not included for obvious reasons which are we haven't known them for long enough#mew.txt#pokeani#also i tried so hard to avoid doing any propaganda for my fav ships but erm. hashtag jellowshipping forever guys#if you're curious about which ships i hc feel free to ask though!!!#i hope i didn't forget anyone and if i did then. OOPS

[A video is embedded. You can see Ren, Elena, Hibiya, and Selene walk out of a cave, right next to a police station.
Ren looks visibly uncomfortable. "Let's move quick."
Elena and Hibiya nod, while Selene has a confused look on her face. She nods too, though. Ren starts speed walking as fast as he can, before the door to the police station opens.
Then, Looker walks out of the police station. He turns to the group of trainers, and waves. "Oh?! A trial-going Trainer, you are?—"
Then, he freezes. "Wait! Could you be... Ren and his cousins?!"
"LOOKER?!"
"That—that cannot be! You—you all look exactly the same as the day I met you all! Your face! It is normal!"
"Uh. Yeah. Hi. It's. It's us. We... Fell again. 'Bout a year after Sinnoh. My burns went away when I fell. What are you doing here?"
"I have my own private reasons!"
Ren nods. "Gotcha. How do you like Alola?"
"Alola is a nice place and so very peaceful. Most ideal for a vacancy. I was just in Konikoni City, where I got a most unusual stone at Ms. Olivia's shop! No one here is so terrible as to try to create a new world...or liberate all Pokémon from their Trainers. Yes, peaceful indeed..."
"That's good."
"Though concerns I have about those reported sightings of the infamous Pokémon mafia..."
"Wait—the what."
"There have been reported sightings of them, though I haven't seen them for myself. Hopefully, it is nothing. Ah! Forgive me for keeping you. I will give you this Thunder Stone if you forgive my rudeness. I bought many without thinking!"
"Hope so. Thanks. Oh—uh, could you do me a favor? Please don't tell anyone that we're Fallers."
Looker nods. "But of course! Your secrets are safe with me. Do have a good adventure, my young trainer friends!"]

🔥pokemon?
Send me a “ 🔥 “ for an unpopular opinion.
Alola sucks as a region. This is mostly unrelated to the quality of the games themselves (except for me; I really, really care about exploration). But Hawai'i is incredibly rich and diverse with all kinds of wonderful environments to explore, such that every new route could be completely unique. They did that with Kalos, and that's France! But instead, it feels like practically everything is just walking along a dirt path with some grass on the side. I feel like I'm in Kanto again; why, exactly, do I have the impression that I'm in the suburbs of Tokyo rather than in the tropics? Hoenn provides a much better island-type experience than Alola does, and it had the restrictions of the GBA to deal with; the only reason I can think of for Alola being, physically, so boring is simple development time restrictions.
There's also basically no exploration- a much steeper dropoff than the dropoff between BW2 and XY, actually, where XY has plenty of exploration but mostly you have to seek it out, but BW2 has a good deal of mandated exploration. The complete lack of a Victory Road is so obviously not a plot thing, it's a poor game design thing. And in general, there are no "places to go". Surf is useful in like 1 or 2 places, and there's nothing interesting to find there; there's 1 or 2 caves with mid items in them; the Vast Poni Canyon is what would be an earlygame cave in any earlier Pokemon game. Every time I went to a new island I was always hoping that I'd get to see some awesome new environments, but it was always fucking grass and dirt paths again. Barely even in a different color sometimes.
There are a couple interesting set pieces, especially on Ula'ula; Po Town and Ula'ula Meadow are pretty. However, there's still not a lot to do in either of those places, despite their better aesthetic appeal than the rest of the game, and compared to Akala or Melemele, you really don't spend a lot of time on Ula'ula at all.
This isn't even getting into the towns and cities; there's absolutely nothing to do in them. After Lumiose in XY and the faithfully recreated (and somewhat added to) cities in ORAS, you really feel the absence of anything interesting to explore. The shops, of course, sell generally kind of awful clothing; I promise there is tropical stuff you can sell that does not look ungodly, and I should know- one of my colleagues wears intentionally loud Hawaiian shirts every day from April to October, and has a tie-dyed lab coat. But let's get back to the cities. They generally don't have anything differentiating them from each other besides the aesthetic! There's not anything notable that you can do in Heahea that you can't do in Konikoni, and nothing notable that you can do in Konikoni that you can't do in Heahea. This started to be a problem in XY to an extent; there are places like Anistar, for example, that kind of just exist to be set pieces. But there also aren't really any interesting people to interact with in the cities, either. You don't have to have a bunch of sidequests- god knows I certainly don't give much of a damn about sidequests- but let me get an item or two, have interestingly decorated houses, have a place I can go with a nice view, have someone tell me a legend. That's really all I ask for.
Sun and Moon have a lot to like outside of the region- the Pokemon are really cute, and the characters are, well, they're OK for Pokemon I guess. The island trials are also a fun spin on the gym challenges. But overall, when I play Pokemon to be immersed in a world, Alola is really the place where the idea of that world began to fall apart for me. I thought for a while that it was just me getting older and jaded, but I played Legends Arceus, and while I have a lot of gripes with that game's gameplay, I can safely say Nope! The world there immersed me. Different areas had plenty of different things to do, and the one town was excellently developed. Alola and its successors just aren't very immersive regions.

42, 43, and 44
42: the last thing i ate had some hot dogs with cheese and mustard for lunch 😋
43: sexiest person that comes to my mind immediately ajdjajdjaj umm my bf @mattibee bc i just answered his ask and my mutual @gaytanic-panic bc i sent her an ask earlier 🙈🙈🙈🙈
44: a random fact about anything ok so i can't find any actual documentation abt her online so unfortunately you'll just have to trust me on this one BUT in pokémon UltraSun and UltraMoon in Konikoni City there's a girl who's a hairstylist and asks to see an Alolan Dugtrio for some reward i believe. anyways what's notable about her is that she speaks Spanish and she mentions she's from a foreign region. this led lots of fans to speculate that the next games would take place in a region based on Spain. that didn't happen the very next generation, but it did the generation afterwards with Scarlet and Violet! i just think that's a neat little foreshadowing tidbit :>
#vi answers#queereldritchgalaxyprincess#ty for the ask!! sorry for the pokemon infodump ajdjajdj those are pretty much the only facts i can list off spontaneously 😭

Where are the places to go to get great local food?
Like in Alola?? Idk I'm on vacation. There's a restaurant in Konikoni City that's pretty good.
If you're asking about Unova, you're gonna have to be specific. There are good places EVERYWHERE there. Except Undella. Never eat there it's too expensive and tastes like sand.
