An interview with Kordian Kądziela (the director) and Kirył Pietruczyk (Maciej).

I summed up the main points of the interview in English for the international fans (under the cut) ⬇️

There were over 300 candidates to be casted as Maciej.

As a kid, Kirył wanted to be a football player, he even trained football for 11 years.

An idea to become an actor appeared when he was at high school.

He read a Wiki page about Marlon Brando and found out about acting methods and one book about acting that he read and really liked it.

He has a master degree in acting.

He graduated from Film School in Łódź.

During filming 1670, Kirył kept a journal written from Maciej's perspective to dive into his character more. (He basically wrote a whole backstory for him, what a dedication!)

Because of the bad weather, some scenes had to be moved to film them inside of a tavern or a barn (for example Jan Paweł training before the duel).
