Daily Kirby Copy Ability 02/13/2024

Today's Copy Ability is another special one! It's Nylon, a Ravel Ability from Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn

Wikirby Description: "Nylon is one of the few ravel abilities that replaces Kirby's standard Yarn Whip. Instead, Kirby creates a vortex of wind that can defeat enemies in a decent range all around him and draw in nearby beads. This vortex also allows Kirby to ascend a little giving him a sort of second jump, though it cannot be repeatedly used quickly enough to gain continuous height without landing."

We've already done Mouthful Modes and Super Abilities, so next on mod's list of Transformations* is Metamortex Transformations (Link to information on Metamortex Transformations here)!

Reasons why Metamortex Transformations don't count as Copy Abilities: Restricted to certain areas in a level/Usually can't be used throughout an entire level, can't be brought to a different level, usually used to progress further into a level (as in, you can't progress without using it), restricts when Kirby can discard the Transformation (either when Kirby passes through a Reel Gate or exits the level can Kirby discard the Transformation), can only happen when using an item/food/object found only in certain levels, etc.

*For these polls, Transformations will be considered anything that acts as a Copy Ability, but functions differently enough that calling it a Copy Ability is debatable, or is something labeled as a Special Ability on the official Kirby Portal website or WiKirby's Copy Ability article/page (As the official Kirby Portal website is only in Japanese, mod placed the link to WiKirby's article/page for it instead of the actual website)

In the American versions of Kirby's Epic Yarn and its 3DS port Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn, the remixed Kirby songs are all said to be from "Kirby's Dream Land", no matter their origin game (first image). The original Japanese referred to the main series in general, not the game. The European English version doesn't have this mistranslation (second image), and correctly claims it's from the series in general. This mistake likely happened because, in Japanese, the name of Kirby's Dream Land is the same as the name of the main Kirby series, 星ほしのカービィ (ほしのカービィ, Hoshi no Kābyi, Kirby of the Stars).
