I was going to make a post about how ridiculous it is that Kihrin technically managed to die four times in a five-book series but then I remembered that actually thanks to the fight with Ompher and the resulting death loop he got stuck in for a few minutes afterwards it’s probably not unreasonable to say that his death count is in the triple digits. for a five book series which is even more ridiculous actually get your life together dude

I’m reading The Memory of Souls right now and there is just something about the scene where 

Janel, Teraeth, and Kihrin end up spooning together in the  Korthaen Blight, and they’re all pressed together and horny and in thin ass clothing.

And then picturing Thurvishar off to the side, freezing by himself and probably half delirious from blood loss 

that just makes me want to howl with laughter

A magical thief who finds out he's a lost prince who finds out he's the reincarnation of a god who is also a demon king. A really good musician. Part of a complete love triangle (all three of them are into each other). His family is so so incredibly messed up. He is known to sometimes enter a room, figure out what he could say that would piss the most people off, then say exactly that.

Normalest Man

A guardsman who hates his king until he doesn't. Simultaneously both the pride of the guard - honor-driven to a fault and favored by many - and the laughingstock of the guard - the clown king's favorite guy to pick on. Watch as this miserable man's sense of honor restricts him from (intentionally) disobeying the beloathed king and watch as that loathing slowly changes into genuine loyalty and respect against his will.

Oh, the complexity of this story as it goes on is just absolutely immaculate. In this book, we get more of Kihrin, Janel, and Teraeth as they try to figure out whatever it is Relos Var is up to (the answer is a lot) while questioning whether or not the Eight are the ones they should be believing (spoiler alert, they aren't). My god, the character development in this book is sooo good. Kihrin finally tells Teraeth how he feels, we get more depth from Thurvishar than ever before, Talea and Xivan, Senera questions her loyalty, etc etc. My point is, there is so much that goes on in this book that it's honestly hard to keep track. Even though this is a reread for me, I'm finding out a bunch of details I missed the first time. There were a lot of moments in this book that I wish I could write down but then we'd be here forever. However, I'll focus on the biggest part, the ending. Not only did half of the Eight die, but Relos Var survived AND Kihrin decides this is a good time to try and reunite himself with Vol Karoth. So... yeah, it's a shitshow and I'm both excited and dreadful of where the next book picks back up.

It’s just so heart breaking that Galon died (I only just finished ruin of kings so no spoilers) thinking that Kihrin didnt love him. Like baby no, you were the best little brother to Kihrin and he loved you so much 😭😭
