woe, Gladion redesign be upon ye

Ryuki always speaks as if he’s referencing Kiawe.

And yet they’re two ships passing in the night.

I’d lock these two in a box together to see what happens.

Ryuki’s character concept isn’t as spoilery as I imagined, so I can share my personal thoughts.

First, everything in his bio is unofficial and subject to changes and contradictions, so I do not consider anything as complete canon.

Ryuki growing up in Blackthorn was predictable. It's the only place between Johto-Kanto where a dragon clan exists.

I still hc Ryuki is mixed and one of his parents is SEA.

His parents sound adorable, being trendy and supportive but strict about dragons and training. Interesting complexity.

If Ryuki was actually 26 at debut, he'd be about 11 during all the Johto games according to the (un)official timeline.

(Also Lisia might be older than Ryuki. Fictional ages and timelines are so mutable though, especially in beta.)

In Pokemas Ryuki mentions venturing through Johto, Unova, and Alola, but it helps to get a clearer picture of events.

There's a chance Ryuki was in Unova during the major BW or BW2 storylines. (Or he might've missed it to go travel elsewhere, who knows?)

All of the information is tentative, as it was a character pitch.

Certain things are flat out wrong, like Ryuki being a gym leader, and 179 cm (he's 172 cm).

Dragonite as his ace definitely changed. Seems his ace Turtonator (Matamata 3) was intended for Kiawe but switched to Ryuki.

(And speaking of "Matamata 3" - does "3" mean there were two pre-evolutions for Turtonator??)

If Ryuki was raised in Blackthorn, it makes sense if Dratini was his starter though.

One of Skyla's revised profiles had her as an optimistic dragon musician, so Ryuki and Skyla are cut from the same cloth.

I think Ryuki's failure as a musician in Unova might be resolved in current canon, so it reads as what he did in the past.

(The machine translation was so bad. Is the original somewhere so I can properly translate it? Should be "gig" not "giggling".)

Speaking of crushes which companions do you think had crushes on Ash?

Personally I think every girl expect Bonnie, Mallow, and Chloe were attracted to him on some level. I also think Clemont and Goh had feelings for Ash though they might not have fully realized it

Misty, Gary, Serena, Clemont and Goh for sure.

May I like to joke that she thought about it when he was sleeping and being cute with Pikachu in the first ep but the moment he opened his mouth it was all over aoidjaod

Lillie I don't think liked him but more that he was a sweet boy that came in when she was missing her brother a lot and she needed that familiarity. Like, I bet he is just extended family to her.

Dawn is funny cause she totally did NOT have a crush on him. I ship them and all but girl didn't crush on ash :v she likes him A LOT, that much is undeniable, but I don't think it reached crush level (or did she understand it was a crush) until mayhaps BW or even JN.

Iris? Idk. I like AshIris but I wouldn't say that she had a crush on him. She was proven to be even denser than Dawn with romantic matters and that's saying something!

OH, I think Kiawe and Gladion totally crush on Ash too! The way they act with Goh in JN (specially Kiwae) settled that in stone for me aoisdoaida

Paul is gay and Ash is the one that made him realize that and he hates it.

Hi Wren!! ^_^ What do you and Kiawe usually talk about when you two hang out?

A variety of things actually. I've never actually planned out a scenario with the exact dialogue we have, it's sort of just vibes...I can honestly talk to him about anything.

We talk about each other, our family and how much we care for our siblings (Wren's family is in their home region). We talk about our pokemon and how we found them and their personalities.

What I love so much about kiawren is we talk about our ambitions. Wren wants to be a conservationist and Kiawe wants to be a traditional dancer professionally. They talk about how their interest got sparked, why they keep chasing this dream becuz it means a lot to them.

Wren wants to nurture the bridge between social cultures and nature in order to conserve it. Kiawe wants to deepen his understanding about culture and the natural world through the art of traditional dance. Their interests are a Venn diagram. We can feel each other's passion when we talk about them. Especially Kiawe, it's very personal to him becuz it's *his* native culture and it's just a lot for me to learn about.

Although in my s/i world I've already started tangibly fulfilling that dream (conservation programme in alola)... In real life I haven't....it's only been lots of talk and hoping I get into the uni course I like, but no time and motivation to go out there and do something amidst my school routine.

For Kiawe, it's also the hoping and the wondering if it's out of reach to make it big. He does practice dance in his own time, but he isn't doing it professionally yet (although, lots of alolan recognise and praise his dancing so! He shouldn't worry so much). Becuz he wants to study dance abroad, and I hc it's to study traditional dance not just from alola, and polynesian, but also austronesia and the wider world. He wants to go to some cultural school he wants to learn it all!!! And our passion is the same!!!

And if he was talking to irl me who's at the point where I'm unsure about my future too, we'd have a lot to talk about and reassure the other. Although irl me's problem is more like finding the gratification in studying, and Kiawe's is more worrisome becuz it's financial. Though I hc Mallow's restaurant hired him after he got laid off from the supermarket. But applying to a uni abroad is difficult and he'd worry if he'd get accepted (but dude you're literally a trial captain of course you will) so yeah, maybe he doesn't need to worry so much and he's sure to reach his dreams, it's just a matter of time. And he would inspire me to work for mine too.

But ultimately I'm a random person and with him I feel like I can speak my mind.

Oh yeah I almost forgot! We also talk about being trans guys. Wren is not on the full end of the transmasc spectrum but Kiawe is, and they can relate to each other. Kiawe has more to talk about in regards to his journey and of course I want to hear it. I'll care for him and help him with anything at all...

‘How Gen 7 tackles issues such as the League coming to Alola (Hardly anyone native complains about what Kukui’s doing) and Lusamine being horrible to her children (Which has near-ceased being shown beyond the Sun/Moon games in favor of Ultra) doesn’t make sense with how the franchise overall portrays its world as being a perfect utopia! So if they wanted to continue on about those themes, they should have made them stronger!’

So I read comments on a video about Gen 6 falling short of expectations this morning. Somebody mentioned what they perceived to be Gen 7’s flaws. Seems they missed a lot of stuff that breaks Alola’s illusion of a utopia- Other families with woes (e.g. Hala’s), trial captains struggling to make ends meet because being a captain doesn’t pay and has an age limit (e.g. Kiawe), Aether’s corruption beyond Lusamine (e.g. Faba), etcetera. Nevertheless, I was inspired to jot down a few notes for PrisLumi.

They made a good point about one thing in particular. Which brings me to a new character hint!

Everyone’s favorite Masked Royal may have reasons to remain anonymous beyond it being fun. He has no known opinions on Alola and its happenings. He’ll, in fact, insist on not speaking about his homeland.

The goings-on of other regions are fair game.

Host:  [gets slipped a cue card] oh! [stands up] And now we’d like to pose a few questions to some random members of our audience. 

[As she walks down the aisle, people raising their hands all “pick me!” She at last stops next to the group. Holds out the mic to Kiawe sitting on the end of the aisle.]

Host:  Ah, you. [pulls up card to read what was prepared] Hypothetically speaking, IF the Phantom Thieves were to exist, do you think what they're doing is right?

Team:  ?! [all of them turn to him in dismay]

Hiro:  [bitterly under his breath.] Random member my ass.

Keala: [elbows him]

Kiawe:  [No, no. He has to agree. It feels a little too on the nose to pick him out with a question regarding the most recent turn of events. Leans into the mic as he tries to keep his gaze on Ilima, not the host] I think they're able to do more than the police.

Keala:  [soft sighs] Kiawe….

Ilima:  [leans back slightly into his seat with a bit of a smile] Growing up in Alola myself, I'm aware that our forces are under equipped for the task. But to their credit, we believe these so-called Phantom Thieves are a threat too great for any local task force to take on alone. That's why I'm here to announce that, as of last night, the case of the Phantom Thieves was transferred over to the International Police.

Kiawe:  [clears throat and motions to take the mic back] Is the confession of a single corrupt instructor really enough of a “great threat” to need that kind of man power?

Team:  …. [Honestly holding their breath at this point. If the rest of the audience wasn’t already kinda looking in their direction, would probably try to get his attention.]

Host:  [Honestly not sure if she should head back down or not, but seems to be beaming at the hot debate that seems to be brewing. Looks back to Ilima for a reply]

Ilima:  Under normal circumstances, I would think not. However, I’m sure you’ve at least heard of the case with Ein, a formerly wanted man from Orre, who also had a sudden need to turn himself in last month. The chain of events were too similar to be a coincidence. And being connected to people from two different regions does make this an international affair, but it’s potentially more serious than that.

Audience:  ??? [cautious glances and whispers all around]

Host:  Oh my! Would you be able to explain to us exactly what makes it so ~dangerous~ then? Some people have started to say that these confessions have proven to be a good thing.

Ilima:  “Good” is a highly debatable term when it comes to dealing with criminals. They are still human after all. Whether or not people think they deserved it, I find the Phantom Thieves’ actions to be highly unethical. To force this change of heart is almost no better than brainwashing. [shakes head] Don’t misunderstand. Ein was a long time threat that has been trouble even for the Interpol to deal with. A high profile criminal. But this time it was a much smaller affair that was on someone’s personal request; which we found had been posted in a recently made Festival Plaza dedicated to the heroics of the Phantom Thieves. How do they do this? Why? What is their range? These are all questions we need answers to because even if what Mr. Elator did was truly horrendous, it bears a bit like the start of a slippery slope. Where is the line before the witch hunting begins and people get hurt over petty complaints?

Audience Member:  [shouts out] I heard they ONLY go after criminals.

Team:  ??? [well, it’s good to know some people are on their side]

Ilima:  As I said, it is all purely speculation right now, and as we only just opened the case. There’s still a lot of evidence to sort through in these two trials. However, I am here to assure the people of Alola that we are not going to tolerate the fear and uncertainty instilled by having an anonymous group of vigilantes deciding they can change the masses to their suit their idea of justice. As an example, allow me to pose you another question.

Host:  … [goes to lower the mic again to Kiawe]

Ilima:  If a friend of yours, say, the girl next to you-

Keala:  o.O [had started to cover her face, but sits up to realize they’re talking about her]

Hau:  o.o; [looks to her as well]

Ilima:  If she were to suddenly start acting strange, a change of heart even, would you believe it's because she was guilty of something? Or that she merely ticked off someone with certain connections? Would she “deserve it” just because the Phantom Thieves were told she was bad? Or would you want your own form of justice for what happened to her since you should know her better than them? While no one has come to the defense of these criminals, it’s only a matter of time before they target the wrong person.

Kiawe:  I would think if there’s only been two cases that were over a month apart, these “attacks” aren’t dealt out so easily. I…. [Hesitates so he can choose his words carefully] I can’t say I understand how or why they do this, but I should hope they would choose their targets as delicately as you choose your cases. With evidence and research before taking it on.

Ilima:  [A little smug as though he’s winning this debate] Well unless you or I were to have some way of asking them, I guess we'll never know.

[More whispers start to run through the crowd]

Host:  An excellent point on both sides~! Though, Detective, if that were true, then that would make the Phantom Thieves similar to the police then, wouldn’t it?

Ilima:  [smiles] Indeed. It’s a bit intriguing to hear such a strong defense for them. Except, they still operate outside of the law and by their own judgment to what is “right.” And I will fully reiterate that while it may be good for now, such power is looking to be easily abused. There may only be two large scale operations that the public is aware of, but with a more intensive investigation, it may reveal there are far more cases still to be discovered. But thank you for giving us all some food for thought.

Host:  [Oh, you done then? Seems they’re being moved to commercial, so she heads back down to the stage] Well! I know I said we had time for a few questions, but that one really threw us all for a doozy! Why don’t we take a poll? How many in our audience think the Phantom Thieves are in the right? And how many agree with our Detective? We’ll have the results when we come back!

[Without seeing the results, the scene fades to after the show as the audience is leaving] 

Hau:  [Saddened and sounds full of uncertainty] Well that sure was… enlightening. Hiro:  Yeah, but there's no way those bastards didn't target Kiawe on purpose.

Keala:  [Nods and looks up at him on that note] You okay? I got nervous when she stopped by us, but you were kind of amazing back there.

Kiawe:  [Flushes a bit with embarrassment] Oh… um… Thank you. I admit, I didn’t mean to get so heated with him. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time I've had to speak with police who seem like they’re trying to get me to admit to any involvement. [Looks down with a bit of shame to admit that.] 

Rotom:  [Softly, with a mix of concern and defensiveness for their friend’s sake] Either way, Hau izz right. I think you got him to zzay more than he intended to. We need to talk to ZZoffy about the Fezztival Plazza being watched.

Hiro:  Eh, it was on the T.V., he’ll probably hear on his own. I’m sure the media is gonna be swarming all over the interview later. 

Keala:  Yeah… [crosses her arms across her stomach like she’s feeling sick just thinking of all that attention] And it sure gave him a platform to paint us as the bad guys here. He does… have a point. >.>

Boys:  ???

Keala:  Using all this to force people into changing does make it sound like an abuse of power. Even if they’re criminals, is it really right for us to get involved like this?

Rotom:  That’zz not for Ilima to decide. You all received your Perzzona as a call to injustice. Legal or not, it izz for you to follow what you feel izz right. 

Hau:  In that case, we should take some time to think about it before we make our next move. Wanna split up for now and we’ll meet at the mall around eight?

Keala:  Fine by me, I need to run by the house anyway. 

[Hau and Hiro just wave her off as she leaves, and with a little nod of agreement, Rotom slips away into Hiro’s backpack as usual]

Hiro:  [Lightly slaps Hau on the back] While she does that, I think WE need to make a stop by the lab. 

Hau:  Yeah, and I think he should come with. [Looks to Kiawe] Would that be okay?

Kiawe:  [seems to have been lost in thought during all this] Hm?

Hau:  The Dimensional Research Lab run by Professor Burnet. It’ll be on the way home. 

Kiawe:  Ah. I don’t see why not. 

Hiro:  Cool. I’m gonna grab something out of the vending machine then.

Hau:  ‘Kay, I’m gonna grab a drink real quick, too.

Kiawe:  I’ll meet you both at the door.

[As the other two dart away around the corner, Kiawe doesn’t seem to get very far before a familiar voice calls over to him. He steps back against the wall to let a few people continue to pass by as he watches Ilima trot up the steps to meet him.]

Kiawe:  Yes?

Ilima:  I’m glad I managed to catch you. [warm smile] I thought I saw you in the audience, but I wasn’t sure until they made you speak up. 

Kiawe:  [MADE being the key word there, given he didn’t normally like speaking out like that. Still, it was nice to actually see Ilima more like his usual self instead of the arrogant tone he gave onstage. Slides his hands behind his back as he leans against the wall more casually] I apologize for putting you on the spot like that. I’m sure you only wanted a “yes” or “no” answer. 

Ilima:  [waves it off] Actually I wanted to thank you for that. There are so few people these days who are willing to challenge me. [Heh] Being a certified genius, I suppose that makes them feel I must be infallible. Untrue, of course, but who wants to be the one to tell me I’m wrong?   Kiawe:  [Nods in understanding, but his expression is clear. Is there a… point to all this?]

Ilima:  … [Can take a hint. Ahem] I thought today’s discussion was quite fruitful. Now that the G-Men have taken over the Phantom Thieves case, I’ll be appearing in public much more frequently as their spokesperson. You gave me a delightful taste of how to handle the tough questions I’ll likely be facing when dealing with the actual press. 

Kiawe:  I’ll look forward to hearing from you. We haven’t seen you in years. >.>;

Ilima:  [soft hum as he glances away] Yes, well… Life just gets in the way sometimes, doesn’t it? You’ve been through quite a lot since we last met. I had a few more questions I wanted to ask you privately.

Kiawe:  [Rolls his eyes. Why would it be anything else? Restrained] Is here really the place for an interrogation?

Ilima: [Holds up his hands to show he’s unarmed and meant no harm by it] Nothing of the sort! But something you said earlier had me wondering, and I thought… Well, just between you and me, you seemed quite passionate in your defense of these Thieves.

Kiawe:  My passions tend to get the best of me. That's not exactly news. [soft smile though it's only short lived] I’ll admit, I was pretty angry with their interference at first. And what happened with Elator… Well, it’s thrown everything in my life upside-down. 

Hau:  [Had returned when heard the familiar voice, as he wanted to catch Ilima as well if he could, before meeting the other two outside. Freezes when he realizes who he’s talking to. Tries to press himself into the alcove of the theater exits and listen in.]

Kiawe:  [Understatement of the year as he pauses to think how to word this] But I’ve had a few weeks to think it over, and I feel like they've actually given me control of my life back. Not just me, but the rest of my troupe as well. [casually shrugs] Consider me a fan.

Ilima:  [shakes head] All very noble, I'm sure. But I would like to remind you that idolizing such people can be dangerous too. When even they call themselves “thieves,” I'm sure they're aware that what they're doing is wrong. I would hate to think that someone who just escaped the hands of a great manipulator would fall prey so easily to another terrible influence.

Kiawe:  [Coldly, crossing a line there, buddy.] I'm not that weak. Or are you also implying I might be working for them? 

Ilima:  [Wide shrug, and feigns innocence] I only know what I have read in the reports, but the police seem to have their suspicions. As your friend, I was merely hoping for the truth. To have gotten so close to your teacher, your house, I think you would have seen them around at least. When it appears we’re dealing with a team of vigilantes, surely you would have noticed some strange activity leading up to the attack.

Kiawe:  If this were a normal attack, it would make sense that there would have been strangers lurking in our neighborhood, but even you said that their methods are a mystery. Almost supernatural. I may be the first suspect, but you should really ask yourself: why would I want to help them, when I had the most to lose?

Hau:  [sinks down a bit to be reminded of that]

Kiawe:  [What, no comeback? He can see the former Captain is at least thinking on it.] I know you only just started the case, but the police told me they found out Elator’s son was the one to make the request to the Phantom Thieves. I hadn't even heard of them before all this.

Ilima:  [Just smiles sweetly as he thought of one] Part of the great mystery, I suppose. Though it does seem logical that after years of abuse and threats. Seeing how your benefactor only wanted you for your talents, and became quite the monster in the lengths he would go to with you and other students; it’s possible that as you learned about his obsession, you wouldn't be the least bit tempted to get revenge?

Kiawe: [Has to admit, that’s pretty much what happened. Still, he’s not lying as his voice softens] Except I never saw myself as a victim. It felt wrong. I hated him sometimes, but I was convinced the only way to chase my own ambitions was to endure it long enough to eventually leave. If I had been smarter, or hadn't known him as long as I have, I would have realized sooner. But if I had seen him that way, and hypothetically, I somehow had that same power as the Phantom Thieves have to cause these changes, do you think I would have put up with it for so long?

Ilima:  [Shifts uncomfortably as the question seems to strike a nerve. His tone softens with an air of bitterness rather than sadness] I think it's very possible considering the consequences. As you said, you had everything to lose if you tried. 

Hau:  [Yeeeeaaaah, he’s got them pegged. Oh gosh. While it seems like Ilima’s tone also wants to reveal something, it’s time to bail. Slides through the door rather excitedly] Kiawe~! What happened to meeting us outside?

Kiawe:  [motions to Ilima] Obviously, I got a bit delayed. 

Ilima:  Alola, Champion Hau! I hadn't expected to meet you in a place like this.

Hau:  Are you kidding? You're like one of the biggest names in Melemele and helped me get my start. There's no way I wouldn't come see ya for your first visit back in over a year~! [looks between them] But uh… you guys just catching up or something? I didn't mean to butt in or anything.

Kiawe:  More like continuing our debate from earlier. |D;;

Hau:  Ah… Well no need to be so formal with me. The Champion thing is basically bragging rights right now while we’ve been settling into this whole world-league-ambassador… thing. I just got back from Kanto about a month ago it feels like. 

Ilima:  [Soft smile] It's still nice to hear such praise from someone as prestigious as you've grown to be. [Curious as he points between them] Though when did you two become such friends? 

Kiawe:  Just recently. After hearing about my situation, Hau offered me his place to stay. It’s a house so it’s spacious enough to go about our own activities, but it has been nice getting to know each other better since I moved in. 

Ilima: 

[Mildly impressed] It seems our first Champion is quite the charitable one. Must be nice. I'm sorry for keeping you though. I didn’t realize you two had plans.

Hau:  Just going to grab some malasadas. The show was fun, but I'm pretty starved. You wanna come with?

Kiawe:  [Quirks an eyebrow at him, wondering what he’s thinking]

Ilima:  I think I'll have to pass. I really should be going, but I simply had to stave my curiosity for the day. [Looks to Kiawe] I should be the one to apologize though. I’m only just starting in my new position and I may have come on a bit strong. I'll see you both around, won't I?

Hau:  Sure! See ya later then~ [waves him off]

Kiawe:  Hmph. “A bit strong”? [Crosses his arms in annoyance as he watches him disappear down the hall] He certainly changed his tune real quick once you showed up. 

Hau:  Yeah… I guess because I've got “prestige” now, he thinks he has to be nice to me. 

Kiawe:  [softly] Or to cover up what we'd been discussing when you came in. It's not like he has any reason to suspect you of thievery.

Hau:  [Still feels guilty about that] Sorry, I should have stepped in a lot sooner. 

Kiawe:   [Not mad, but pleasantly surprised by the little sneak. Almost amused to find out what he knew] You heard all that then? Then why did you invite him?

Hau:  [cheeky grin] To make you cringe. [more serious] Honestly, I wanted to be friendly while calling his bluff. If he came with us, we might have gotten to have a nice normal conversation to learn what he's been up to all this time. And if not, it at least gives the impression we're just goofing off somewhere. Being nice tends to make people less on edge around you. Besides, we're going to talk to Burnet about thieves stuff, he doesn’t need to be anywhere near there.

Kiawe:  ….That's surprisingly clever of you.

Hau: 

Hey, between your skills in dodging questions and Rotom’s palace lessons, I should hope I'm learning to cover my tracks. Come on. I'm sure Hiro is starting to wonder where we went.

A friend got me all happy to ramble on about this P5 / Alola region crossover I was obsessed with years ago, and it gave me the urge to pull up my old document for it. There's not a full story here, just a ton of scattered clips that reference a lot of scenes and events from P5 but obviously things are much different and more expanded on in how the crossover verse functions. Ahem.... This scene was too long for me to share with the Discord so I just needed to post it somewhere I could link. But uh, if there's any interest, I may post more from this universe because I'm forever surprised just how much we wrote for it.

This whole extensive mess came up from this silly exchange:

Haji: With Kiawe... well there's a few things. 1) He's still working on how to social cue. Yes, he understands some of the pressure Ilima went through better than others because he was in the same position and they were, albeit vaguely and only through said position, friends? 2) With the TV station thing, which I'll probably get into tomorrow given the time and the length of the scene, I kinda like the idea of the whole gang there (up to that point) going to check it out only instead of Hau being chosen (because I always joke "And of course we get chosen XD" because protag) it was actually with Kiawe. Since I'm sure being so shortly after the Teacher's Palace, Ilima being the little ass that he is here, probably spotted him in the audience and was like "Huh, and mind if I ask you a question then?" which naturally has the other four silently going "Oh fuck" but then of course it turns out to just be "So, hypothetically, if these thieves are real, do you think what they did was right?" Kiawe's a fairly confident individual, and especially since he's got no reason to view Ilima as any sort of authority figure (they're still on the same level in his mind, and Ilima's still like... the intern anyway, he's not even a real cop / detective yet) and it's like "Tch, yeah?" .... The group goes back, to internally screaming XD Kitty: PFFFFF XD Haji: I'm sure Keala is fighting back a face palm with the whole "They do more than the cops" option you can do in the game XD Kitty: "Oh fuck" is the only appropriate response XD Haji: Although let's be honest, no one else would have done well with that question

while i wouldn't write another real language in fic, if it's a fan language (like project elvhen) then i sometimes include short pieces if they're different from what would normally be spoken. so like... arlathan era fic, no, i'm not going to include stuff from project elvhen bc everyone's speaking elvhen all the time. but if it's during dai era or smth and they're speaking common with the occasional elvhen word/phrase thrown in, then i'd add the word/phrase and define it at the bottom

So I think I've followed your blog since around 2017 from pokemon content (I still would die for kiawe) and ur constantly in my feed postin stuff usually about venom and I hadn't seen the venom movies in a while and I rewatched them (still just as good as the first times) and anyways my 2 year old is obsessed with spiderman but as soon as he saw venom that was it, I've since shown him the 3rd Toby movie and he loved it and now we're watching pretty much every venom content Disney + has and he's requested venom for Christmas so I've just bought him a costume, figures, whatever else. He cant speak that well yet but hes speaking half scentences and halfway between mumbles you hear 'wenom' so yeah sorry for rambling just wanna thank you for relighting my love in venom and my kid thanks you too😂

Ok, with the Alola Dexholders winning the poll,

let’s start with them. I was in between them and the Kanto Dexholders mainly because Gen 7 was when we get to see the most alien-ish pokemon ever.

Now, before I select the first 10 aliens for his playlist, there are some rules I’m gonna have to state for all of the dexholders:

No OP aliens at the start for their first playlist (Way Big, Clockwork, Alien X, etc) unless some circumstances are there or they have some kind of niche.

Only aliens that Ben has canonically transformed in the original and reboot on-screen in the shows (just so I can have more options and be more accurate)

No 5 Years Later transformations (Also, I’m not counting Eon from Race Against Time)

When it comes to the Andromeda V, I will count them but substitutes will be made if possible.

Also, how I’m going to select the aliens based on their attributes, Pokémon teams and dexholder titles (or just a mishmash of all 3)

With that out of the way, let’s begin!

Starting with the boy from Kanto: Sun!

Now, Sun is clearly shown to be working mainly as a delivery boy. So that he could earn enough money to get his great grandfather’s island back. But that has switched to building the Poké Pelago instead. However, since his main job is working as a delivery boy, his first playlist should consist of aliens that could help in his delivery job. Therefore, the first alien I decide to give him is: XLR8 Fasttrack

The reason why I decided on Fasttrack is because he’s fast so he would be able to deliver packages more on time, and he would probably be able to run on water to deliver said packages

I know, I know. You’re all probably thinking: Why not XLR8? He’s faster than Fasttrack and more popular! Now let me explain why:

Fasttrack appears to be one of the more feline-based aliens, and since Sun has 2 cat Pokémon, I feel that it’s fitting.

Fasttrack is confirmed to be stronger than XLR8 so he could probably lift heavier parcels with ease.

XLR8 has claws which I feel that he would have some difficulty holding on to the packages. Fasttrack on the other hand does not have said drawback due to having more humanoid hands.

Now, with Fasttrack taking care of the land and sea (maybe), I think it’s best if I were to have an alien that can soar through the sky, I choose Jetray.

The main reason is because Sun would probably need to fly to get some packages across the globe (or just to save time). Plus, Jetray is confirmed to be able to, and I quote:

“Jetray is Ben’s fastest flier; he can fly at speeds several times the speed of sound.”

and

“Jetray is also fast enough to create sonic booms and enter hyperspace.”

Of course, Sun probably wouldn’t go this fast or else he’ll damage the packages, but he’ll probably work things out.

Next, another alien which would help Sun out in his deliveries is no doubt: Four Arms

Four Arms is only added purely because he has extra arms which would help out in carrying more packages. That’s it really. However, you could argue that Four Arms also loosely represents Sun’s dexholder title as the ‘Saver’, because of that one episode where Kevin bought a car made of pure taydenite, which is basically made out of money.

Speaking of money, considering that Sun now has Kiawe and two other employees at the end of the Sun and Moon arc,

He would probably have an alien which allows him to carry multiple packages, and what better alien than the splitting Splixson: Ditto

Now, considering that Ditto is able to split up into multiple copies, he’s able to deliver multiple packages at once which is very convenient for Sun.

Now, with all that said, we’ve got 4 aliens that helps with Sun’s job being a delivery boy. But what else is there? Well…Sun does get injured, like a lot. So, what better way to represent that with an alien that has extreme durability? Well, for Sun’s fourth alien, it’s The Worst.

Yup. The wobbuffet of Ben 10.

Now, why is he here? Well, atrocians (The Worst’s species) have confirmed to be nearly impervious to physical harm; he is able to withstand heavy physical attacks, and energy attacks. Which, definitely could’ve came in useful from the various times Sun was injured. Although, he would still feel pain.

Speaking of Sun being injured, what’s better than taking hits and not getting injured? Well, how about regeneration to top it off? Well, there’s only some aliens that has regeneration, but I feel one would suit Sun the most, that being: Lodestar

When going through the aliens that have regeneration, I feel that Lodestar suits Sun the best. With his magnetic abilities, he would be able to probably oppose the Aether Foundation by attracting anything that’s magnetic and throw it at them. He probably hates the Aether Foundation (specifically Faba) for taking his great grandfather’s island (at least, I think he hates it). So, he would probably use Lodestar to go on a revenge attack against the foundation. If not for Moon stopping him (hopefully).

Also, with Solgaleo being said as the embodiment of the Sun, but for some reason being steel type (I actually know why but I feel that it’s a bit long to explain). And since Lodestar is magnetic, it can attract steel.

Now, Lodestar is probably the one stretched the most when it comes to the aliens I chose, but this one makes more sense. Now, we know that Sun hates Faba with a burning passion. And some of us do. So what better alien to convey Sun’s rage against Faba and to represent his starter: Rath

LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHIN’ TUMBLR USERS DAY AND NIGHT, RATH IS A SUITABLE TRANSFORMATION FOR SUN BECAUSE SUN’S STARTER ‘DOLLAR’ IS AN INCINEROAR WHICH IS A WRESTLER AND SINCE RATH IS PARTIALLY INSPIRED BY HULK HOGAN, IT FITS!! NEED RATH EXPLAIN MORE? WELL FINE!!!!! SUN HAS A LOTTA ANGER AND RAGE AGAINST FABA, AND MIGHT RATH ADD, DESERVES A SIRIUS BUTT KICKING!!!! RATH GETS TO DO THE WORK FOR SUN IN THIS CASE!!!!!!!

So, that’s the reason. Also, I really want to see how I would write as Rath, and it was a lot of fun. I actually don’t know if Sun does hate Faba but it seems like he does, you can correct me later on, however, Rath still works because like I said, I am going to be influenced by their teams and Sun has an Incinerorar so it works. Plus, I could imagine the scene where when Faba reveals that all of Sun’s efforts were useless, Sun would just transform into Rath and yell out something like: “LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING FABA FROM THE AETHER FOUNDATION, RATH DOES NOT LIKE YOU WENT BACK IN YOUR DEAL, AND THAT MAKES RATH MAD!!!!!!”

Now, for Sun’s next alien, I was having a bit of a dilemma as of who to choose, but like I said, I’m going to be counting one of the mons on Sun’s team. In this case, Drachma. His Stakataka if you’re confused. Since Stakataka appears to be made out of sentient bricks, what better alien to represent that than: Bloxx. Who’s just sentient Lego.

Plus, Bloxx can shapeshift, so he could help in the delivery area.

Next, for his second-to last alien, again, I was stuck on who to choose. After a while, I decided on the Amperi: Amphibian

Now, why Amphibian? Well, according to the wiki, Amphibian is described as ‘a blue jellyfish-like alien’. And at one point, both Sun and Moon were stranded for 6 months in Ultra Deep Sea. And do you which Ultra Beast is found in there? Well, you guessed it, it’s the Nihilego.

Which are basically jellyfish-like pokemon. So, I suppose it works. Also, it loosely represents that both species can damage the nervous system, with Nihilego’s neurotoxins and Ultimate Aggregor shocking Grandpa Max so much that it damaged his nervous system. Loose, but it’s there.

Finally, for his last alien, I had the hardest time thinking of who to choose. At first I thought of Portaler since he has portal generation which does reference Ultra Wormholes, but he’s non-canon and even if he is, he would probably be too OP for the first playlist. Evidenced by 5YL putting him in the Powerhouse Playlist (the link for that version of Portaler is here).

I thought of it for a while, before eventually settling on the Galilean: Gravattack

With Gravattack being able to control gravity and that he’s a living planet, it makes sense that considering how otherworldly Ultra Beasts are, it’s as if they’re from another planet. Plus, in a hypothetical scenario, in the final fight against Ultra Necrozma, he would reveal that he has a 10th alien to his allies (they probably knew that Sun has the Omnitrix by this time) as most of them only thought he had 9. That would be a pretty badass fight I would like to see.

While you can use both mega evolution and z-moves in one battle ( I believe) of all of the Alolan cast, the ones I think that would actually use mega evolution is Ilima and Kiawe.

Ilima - went study abroad in kalos, so of all the characters, he already knew about it existence, at least on a basic level. His family is seemingly rich enough to buy him one or two, or he won some in a competition. I don't think he's a collector of mega stones or anything, and z-moves are always closer to his heart, but as someone who is interested in battling analysis, he is interested in the gimmick.

Kiawe - By pure chance imo. As in Ilima knew the guy had a kangaskhan, and gave him one of his prized mega stones as a gift. Given how Kiawe has the chance to use mega evolution in the battle tree, I think he ends up using it. This idea came to be when I realized that Ilima in the anime actually had a mega kangaskhan! I was torn between giving him that or mega lopunnys as a signature mega, but when I looked at Kiawe's battle tree roster and saw the kangaskhan I went " oh I can work with this". Overall I think it's cute.

Honorable mentions: Canonically speaking, Mallow can also use mega evolution, but I honestly wasn't sure if mega sceptile fully fits her. I was considering Mina for it too, with her having traveled to Kanto at one point and probably maybe stumbled across a mega stone. But again, I wasn't exactly sure how....Mina, that was. Let alone if she'd use it ( I keep forgetting my own lore for mega evolution, and let's just say the process of it is rough lol. So not everyone would want to wield it. )

I always find that whenever I get back into Pokémon, for the most part I always have an unreasonable attachment to one of the male characters.

In Pokémon sw/sh it was Hop and Leon, in the anime for Alola it was Kiawe, in Pokémon scarlet and violet it was Arven and in Pokémon horizons it’s Friede 😭😭

Speaking of Pokémon horizons, I REALLY love the designs of all the women in the show?? And generally I love them all too!! Orla the beloved… ALSO AGATE I THINK IS HER NAME??? GOD DAMN SHES GORGEOUS??? I’m probably gonna draw Orla soon bc I just love her so much??
