Just started the Legend of Vox Machina and the thing about Grog is...okay. He’s not very bright, and like usually the standard trope is “big dumb barbarian from tribe of dumb muscle barbarians” and that’s very problematic, but I absolutely love that everyone else in the Herd just isn’t stupid. They’re conniving, they’re “trust me with my evil plans” villains, but they aren’t dumb

Because it turns the trope of Grog being different from “Aha! I am a cultural rebel because only I have the intelligence and morality clarity to see the truth!”(but is still dumber than everyone else) to: “Listen, I may be an idiot but I have the power of basic moral decency on my side. So what the fuck is wrong with y’all!?” which is infinitely funnier The simple-minded cousin who every else pitied just shows up again like “Actually I have a better understanding of the philosophy of care than you. Suck it.”
