i don't think i can comment on this for spoiler reasons, bc regardless of the answer....ack but i will say i love all my kids tons and i have a really hard time killing main/major characters off, BUT never say never, yknow? and in a magical world there's nothing to say death is even permanent......

unfortunately this answer is a boring yes. they've all stayed pretty much the same except for small tweaks here and there. honestly i didn't even change character personalities and such that much, just slowly gave them more depth and better motivations over time. i STICK to my characters concepts, lol.

i think the biggest change to anyone was probably cas. OLT was originally based heavily on six of crows as a brainstorming exercise, since SOC was my favorite book at the time. that's why six characters, on the run from the law, on a boat, etc (it's NOT a heist book tho, to be clear). cas was initially very much like kaz brekker, and i swear their names being so similar was an accident.

on my most recent round of edits i removed the last of the "cas being a schemey mastermind" lines, because he's very not. for most of his life he's alone, and then with ollie, and then with inari, and then with the crew, all within the space of three years. he's also a lot more.....he has more morals than kaz, maybe. still not great ones, but he has them. he's more openly emotional/affectionate, which is still not a lot, but compared to kaz he practically wears his heart on his sleeve.

basically he has a reputation very similar to kaz's, but he doesn't actually live up to it much of the time, and he didn't do it on purpose bc reputation doesn't matter when you're always alone, if that makes sense.
