Infect Me With Your Lovin, Fill Me With Your Poison | Klaus Mikaelson
masterlist
summary: you have rejected klaus mikaelson a few more than once, even if he charmed you. when you find out that klaus slept with hayley, jealousy overcomes you and makes you snap at the hybrid who in return gets exactly what he wants
pairing: fem! reader x klaus mikaelson
words: 2.7k
a/n: please listen to this song whilst reading if you can!! life changing
tw: sexy vampire x hybrid smut (blood, kinky sexy) 18?+ smut BUT i can’t write smut well so i wrote some stuff and as everyone knows by now, self interpreted ending :)
‘Where have you been?’ Caroline asked as soon as you entered the back garden of the Mikaelson house, her eyes telling you that she was already fed up.
‘Dreading to come actually,’ you rolled your eyes, immediately snatching Caroline’s planner chart to see what had to be done by today.
Apparently Klaus and his siblings wanted to host some kind of ball and asked Caroline to help, and Caroline being Caroline couldn’t say no. Not only that but she also dragged you into today’s schedule because Klaus had a soft spot for you and thought you could protect her from him, and there was the other reason being that you also loved planning and organising.
‘Caroline, those blue flowers are so ugly…are you seriously going to use them?’ You judged her as she gave you the same look back.
‘Yes,’ she beamed sarcastically, ‘Morning glories are pretty.’
You cleared your throat.
‘Well maybe you should’ve been there when we discussed everything today.’
‘Caroline, please.’ You breathed, silently enjoying the banter. ‘I was not hating…just, you know, judging.’
‘Then stop.’ She snapped, taking back her chart and started to walk towards the terrace where Tyler and Matt tried to detangle pairs of fairy lights.
Chuckling at the two, you observed the scenery in front of you. Flowers in full bloom, greenery as wide as the eye could see as well as a pond that served as a home to multiple ducks. But at the bridge that led to a gazebo that stood on a small hill, you saw Hayley and Klaus talking. They were too far away to eavesdrop but you could tell that she kept smiling at him. You have rejected Klaus Mikaelson more than a few times, even if he charmed you. You just weren’t quite ready to date the most evil villain in supernatural history, but seeing Klaus with Hayley made you clench your teeth.
‘Oh my, I’m so sorry.’ A girl bumped into you with a box Caroline most likely sent her to another location of the house.
‘Watch where you’re going.’ You scoffed, defensively squaring up.
‘I apologise.’ She murmured, her eyes quickly glancing left to right.
‘And I said watch where you are going.’ You stepped closer, so close that you could lean forward to compel her. ‘I want you to go home and write down 100 reasons why you’ll never be worth anything.’
The girl left just as Caroline approached you with an angry look on her face.
‘What was that?’ She kept her eyes on her.
‘I compelled her to leave.’
‘We need help here. Hello? I mean we only have a few hours left!’
‘She was useless Caroline.’ You stated, letting your head fall back. ‘I’ll do whatever she has to do.’
‘You better,’ her white teeth smiled at you.
‘By the way,’ you straightened yourself, staring back into the distance where Hayley and Klaus were still talking about god knows what. ‘Why is that wolf girl smiling at Klaus like she owes him just that?’ You shot back one of the champagne glasses that stood on the table, quickly wiping a drop with your sleeve.
‘You haven’t heard,’ Caroline raised her eyebrows, she too now staring at the two of them. ‘Tyler’s bitchy werewolf friend Hayley slept with Klaus. Don’t ask why, I wouldn’t know how that happened.’
‘So why does she keep smiling at him?’
‘Maybe she fell for him.’
Somehow hearing that made you uneasy, like you wanted to rip her heart from her chest.
‘Why?’ Caroline smirked, turning to face you. ‘Jealous?’
‘What?’ You snapped back.
‘Oh come on, Klaus has been practically drooling over you and you kept pushing him away. I’d say you’re jealous because maybe he moved on.’
‘He didn’t move on,’ You grabbed another glass.
‘You say that so confidently.’
‘He sent me a dress to wear tonight,’ you took a sip, ‘a pink one. He knows my favourite colour is pink…he still likes me. Even asked me for a dance.’
‘So are you going to give him a chance?’
You kept your eyes on Hayley who had just put her hand on Klaus’ arm, throwing herself onto him hidden by a violent laugh.
Shooting back the second glass you walked past Caroline.
‘I’m going to get more decorations from inside the house.’
‘They’re in one of the backrooms!’ Caroline shouted from behind as you walked into the house to get away from anything Klaus and Hayley related. The thought of them having sex made your stomach churn. But it also sparked a flame from within; hatred; jealousy? You were pretty sure you were jealous you just didn’t want to admit it just yet.
Walking into a room you were greeted by many cardboard boxes that were filled to the brim with all sorts of decorations. Some where definitely for Christmas, others for Easter. Grabbing a garland you tried pulling it out but it didn’t budge. Repeatedly you tried to get it out, tons of ornaments refusing to move under the massive amounts of other stuff.
‘Why won’t this come out!’ You sneered, ripping part of it off and throwing it at the wall.
‘There there, love,’ Klaus’ voice caught you by surprise, turning around to see him leaning against the door frame. ‘I don’t know what that poor garland did to you but certainly it couldn’t have hurt you that much.’
‘What do you want?’, you scoffed, once again trying to get that bloody garland out but it would just not move.
‘Why do I have the feeling that you have been ignoring me, love?’
‘I don’t know, have I?’
‘Come on,’ Klaus stepped further into the room, arrogance dripping down his shoulders. ‘It’s rude not to let me know why…’
You turned around to face him, your body starting to feel warm. ‘Why don’t you go back to Hayley hm?’
‘So this is about Hayley? I suppose Caroline told you. You two seemed pretty close just moments ago.’
‘So it’s true then? You slept with her?’
‘Shouldn’t I have?’ He cocked his head, his devilish smirk adding to the rising warmth within.
You stayed quiet and instead turned around to face your luck once more.
‘Does it bother you?’
‘No it doesn’t bother me,’ you grabbed ahold of the decoration once more. ‘You can fuck whomever you want to, Klaus. Just leave me alone and go back to fucking her, why-the-fuck-won’t-this-stupid-decoration-come-out!’
‘You’re jealous.’ Klaus chuckled, you could hear it in his voice how amused he was.
‘I’m not. You go back to that little slut of yours and leave me alone.’ You stepped closer.
‘I have fancied you for months so now when I sleep with someone you suddenly seem to care…why?’
‘Okay fine, Klaus,’ your hand fell over your face, bile starting to rise in your throat. ‘I care. I am so angry at you for sleeping with Hayley when you should’ve fucked me!’
Klaus continued to smirk, his eyes glistening. Somewhat happy that you finally had exploded and accepted that you actually had like him for longer.
‘First of all, love,’ he came even closer, his chest so close you could almost feel his heartbeat through your chest. ‘I wouldn’t just fuck you, I would worship you.’
‘Is that what you told Hayley?’ You gazed into his eyes, his lips so close you could almost taste him.
‘Barely did any talking.’ Klaus’ nose brushed against your, ‘I thought of you whilst I was inside of her,’
‘That doesn’t exactly make a girl swoon,’ A suppressed laugh escaped your lips, breaking eye contact before Klaus’ finger pushed your head back up at him.
‘Let’s not pretend that you don’t love it, Y/n,’ he said sturn. ‘Why keep this wall up of yours.’
You raised your eyebrows.
‘Come on, darling. You love that the bad guy has a soft spot for you.’ He chuckled. ‘No one’s going to judge you for wanting to sleep with me…maybe even more.’
His lips came closer and closer, both hands already cupping your face. You really wanted to kiss him. You really did.
Heat arose from your stomach to your chest. His lips were getting closer and your heart skipped a beat. His dark blue eyes sparked with sin as his eyes didn’t leave your gaze. Your heart pounded in your chest as your knees got weaker. The empty void that filled the space between your bodies was filled with his presence as he stepped even closer. Your whole body tingled, the feeling of his frame leaning on yours, as his arms wrapped around you felt nearly forbidden. His lips brushed against yours, softly, delicately, like you were a porcelain figure, one crack away from falling to pieces and being broken forever. Seconds later the gap was closed. His hands cupped your face as his lips crashed into yours, lips plump and smooth against your own. His arms found themselves to your back, pulling you closer than was possible—you also wanted to be closer to him. You could only focus on how soft he felt against your lips, how addictively he invaded all your senses.
You pushed away from him before he could indulge once more as you hastily pulled back from the kiss.
‘We shouldn’t do this. This is a terrible idea.’ Your thoughts scattered across the floor, breathing heavily.
‘You’re right . . . Want to do it again?‘
‘Yes.’
Barely a sound escaped you before he cupped your face again, kissing you more forcefully than before; your arms finding their way to his neck, making sure you wouldn’t fall from the force he was impacting you with. His arms were around your lower back, pulling you towards his torso. Your hands had found his hair that you had secretly been dreaming of tugging since the moment you saw. Not breaking the kiss you went to one of the bedrooms just next door, closing it before resuming the kiss.
You parted your lips, urging him to open his, moaning into his mouth. Dragging his lips against your cheek up to your ear, his hand found your face again, his thumb pulling down your bottom lip, breaking the kiss again, your eyes meeting, now under different circumstances.
You tore off his shirt, gently stroking his chest as he pulled of your trousers and shirt as you kissed him again. His tongue pushing past yours, his hands at the back of your head pushing you further into his kiss.
You played with his belt, trying to unbuckle it as he clipped off your bra leaving you in only your panties. Your fingers continued to brush against the light stubble on his lower abdomen when he suddenly broke the kiss, his eyes darkening as his lip curled almost devilishly.
Klaus walked over to the door, ‘Do you get turned on listening to people have sex, Hayley?’, and swiftly opened the door to reveal Hayley whose eyes were wide with shock, taken aback by having been found.
Klaus pulled Hayley into the room by the collar of her jeans jacket, locking the door to ensure that no other person would interrupt again.
‘I didn’t mean to.’ She said, barely audible as the shame started to settle in, her fingers playing with the hair tie around her wrist. ‘I won’t tell anyone.’
‘We don’t care if anyone knows about us, love.’ Klaus drawled, rolling his eyes.
Hayley’s eyes met yours before they visibly travelled down to your naked chest that already bore red spots from Klaus’ foreplay.
‘You are interrupting.’ You said coldly, almost hissing as you felt the annoyance rise in you, your fingernails digging into your palms as you tried to control yourself.
Klaus gazed at you then back at Hayley.
‘Now what do we do with you,’
‘I want her dead, Klaus.’ Monotone. You could only stare at her, your mind filling with images of every way you could ensure to stop her beating heart.
He chuckled. ‘You hear that little wolf? My darling girl wants you dead…,’ his hands grabbed Hayley’s shoulders and squared them with his. ‘And everything my girl wants she gets.’ Klaus looked directly into her eyes. ‘Stand here and don’t move.’
He moved her hair from her neck, ‘Fancy a drink, love?’
You stepped towards Hayley, your eyes filling with lust as your teeth finally pierced through her delicate skin. The thick sweet taste of werewolf blood coating your tongue as you felt an euphoric rush travel through your veins. You could feel the life drain out of her body as shallow breaths of dying filled your ears. Glimpsing over at Klaus who also had his teeth buried into her neck, you noticed that he already had been staring at you.
Blood started to drip down the corners of your mouth, falling onto your chest, nipples hardening in arousal. The warm blood messily smearing over your naked body. Taking your index finger, you collected some of the blood and placed it on your tongue, closing your mouth around it as you sucked it off, your eyes never leaving his.
Klaus pushed Hayley’s dead body to the ground, clenching his jaw. You stood inches apart, your nose picking up the scent of blood mixed with his cologne.
Seconds later the gap was closed again. His hands cupped your face as his lips crashed into yours. His arms found themselves back at your back, pulling you closer.
‘If only I had known how twisted you really are,’
Your eyes found his; chest rising and falling heavily waiting for him to finish his sentence.
‘I would’ve fucked you sooner.’ Klaus smirked, pulling you in for one more heated kiss before he pulled away. His breath sent shivers down your spine, raising goosebumps on every available patch of skin that was naked to the open.
Your breath hitched when you suddenly felt his mouth on your tits. He started to trace long slow licks; licking of the blood. His right hand found its way to your other breast, massaging it thoroughly and pinching your hardened nipple. You bit your lower lip closing your eyes as you felt your heart beat outside of your chest, your cunt aching from between your thighs, soft moans escaping your blood stained lips.
‘God you are so beautiful.’
‘Fuck,’ you hissed, his tongue starting to flick your nipples as your fingers buried themselves his his hair. Gently tugging it.
Your hands fell to his face bringing him to your face, and forcefully kissed him again, the sight of him being covered in blood sending heat waves down to cunt, feeling that your panties were already soaked. Your arms found their way to his neck, to make sure you wouldn’t fall from the force he was impacting you with. His arms were around your lower back, pulling you towards his body.
‘She tastes good but you would taste better,’
He pushed your body onto the bed, ripping off your panties as a long lick from your hole to your clit made you arch your back. His finger parted your lips and started to explore your already wet cunt, his teeth biting the thin skin of your inner thighs.
‘We barely started and you're soaked? Just for me,’ he chuckled. ‘And here I thought you hated me. Turns out you’ve just been fighting me?’ You closed your eyes and turned your head to the side, difficulty concentrating as he started to push his tongue deeper into you. Slowly he began to pump his fingers out of you, too slow for your liking. Your hands grasped his wrist, nails digging into his skin, asking for more.
‘Not satisfied darling?’ He cocked at you.
You could only concentrate on the pleasure you were receiving, and whimpered out a no. You barely had time to take another breath before he reattached his mouth to your aching cunt.
‘Fuck!’ You yelled out, grabbing a fistful of his dark hair. A deep moan escaped his lips, sending vibrations through your body. He added another finger going even faster than his previous pace, curling his fingers, hitting your spot perfectly.
He continued to pump his fingers in and out of you, making you cry out in euphoria. With every forceful hit you felt your orgasm draw nearer and nearer. It felt like a knot inside of your stomach was going to explode any second which Klaus started to notice. Just before you could release your screams, he pulled out his digits and grinned.
‘Please make me cum,’ You whimpered out desperately.
Klaus’ lips hovered over yours, giving you a taste of yourself as you caught his lips. ‘With time, love.’

E.T
Words: 739
Pairing: Spock x Reader
A/N: This is the first thing I've written since last October so... I'm sorry if this is clunky. I'm note sure which Spock you wanted it for so I went AOS but I think it's pretty 'neutral' Spock if that makes sense?
Request: Spock's reaction to female reader singing the song E.T. by Katy Perry cause the reader lost a bet to Kirk so now she has to sing that song to basically admit she likes Spock. As a added bonus you can add a part where Spock tells Kirk that was unnecessary since he and the reader are already dating. If you don't like the bonus idea just ignore it! Keep up the awesome writing! - @originaltyphoonkryptonite
______________________
“You’re not being serious?”
“I won Y/N. A deals a deal.” Jim said with a smile.
You rolled your eyes “The song is so, incredibly, old. Could you not pick something more current?”
“It just makes it funnier. It’s a classic.” the man put his hand on your back and began to guide you towards Spock's quarters.
Grumbling as you went he quickly shoved you inside. Spock stood from where he was sitting and looked between the two of you. “What is the problem? You look distressed.” his eyes fell to you.
“Nothing, nothing.” you turned around to leave but Jim stopped you and turned you back around.
“Y/L/N.” it was almost a warning from your Captain.
“Spock.” you looked at the man before looking down at the floor and hesitating, this was so embarrassing “You’re so hypnotizing.”
“Y/N” Spock spoke, grounded to his spot as Jim nudged you.
“Could you be the devil? Could you be an angel?”
“Sing” Jim whispered under his breath.
You sighed and the next parts came out with some tune “Your touch, magnetizing, feels like I am floating. Leaves my body glowing.” the following lines came out rushed and you took a break.
“Properly now.” Jim encouraged.
“Y/N please-” came Spocks voice as he took a step towards you.
“Kiss me, ki-ki kiss me. Infect me with your lovin’ fill me with your poison. Take me, ta-ta-take me. Wanna be your victim ready for abduction. Boy, you’re an alien. Your touch, so foreign It’s supernatural. Extraterrestrial.” you quickly turned to Jim “Happy now?”
“The whole song-”
“I’m not singing the whole song Jim that’s ridiculous. I think you’ve made me get my point across alright?”
“And what point would that be Captain?” Spock questioned Jim directly.
“Come on Spock, think about the words. What do you think she’s trying to tell you?”
“Was this your scheme to get Y/N to tell me that she finds me attractive?”
“Well… Yes it was.” he moved his hand to the back of his neck and looked at you.
“Did it ever occur to you that I may already know this?”
“You- Then why would you pass up the opportunity?” you watch Jim sweat under the pressure.
“Did you consider in any way that Y/N and I may be in a relationship at present?”
“You’re what?” the man looked between the two of you “Impossible. Actually impossible. Why would Y/N have been so scared to come here and sing?”
“We were keeping it a secret” you pitched in “We didn’t want everyone to know right away. Plus I was so embarrassed. I don’t like singing in front of people. The whole situation was just awkward.” you made a gesture to the room.
“I take your point but really? You weren’t going to tell me?”
Spock came to stand beside you as you spoke “We were going to tell you at the game night on Saturday.”
“We thought it would be best to tell everyone at the same time. Before we go on shore leave. To give you all time to digest the information.”
Jim nodded “Right.” he hesitated for a second “So I’m not allowed to tell anyone before Saturday?”
You shook your head “we’d prefer it if you didn’t”
“So I won’t get the joy of telling everyone I got the two of you together.”
You beamed with a smile “No Jim, no you won’t. But you can keep that little narrative in your head if that makes you happier.”
“That I will.” he smiled. He gave the two of you one last look and you could see a gleam in his eyes. “I should leave the two of you love birds to it.” turning on his heels he quickly left. You heard him clap his hands together and laugh as he moved through the doorway “perfect just perfect.”
As the door closed behind him you wrapped your arm around Spock and gave him a side hug. “I’m sorry. Jim insisted.”
“It was probably for the best. He may have combust if he found out with the others on Saturday.”
“You’re not wrong there.” breaking away from the hug you straightened out your uniform. “I’ll catch you later, I should probably get back to work.”
“I await your return.” he watched as you walked out of his quarters and he could feel his eyes expression soften in admiration.

dbda fic snippet : 'never been kissed'
“I would very much enjoy watching this film with you.”
Niko smiled. But then… “Or,” she said, “what if we lived it?”
Edwin frowned slightly, his brow knitting. “Lived it? The…” He waved a hand, loosely and vaguely, confusion lining all of his features.
“Yeah!” Niko pressed her hands together in front of her body. “Like, lived the teenage dream.”
Edwin looked disgusted. “Like that horrid song that Crystal did that godawful dance to?”
“It was Katy Perry, and she’s not horrid. She’s kind of iconic, honestly, though she and Taylor Swift did have this beef for a while. But I think they worked it out, so she’s cool again.”
Edwin blinked, clearly not caring about this extremely old celebrity drama.
“But that’s not what I’m saying. You know. Sneaking out, causing trouble. Clubbing, partying. Kissing. Maybe drinking, if we can manage to find some-”
“Niko, you are a ghost. You cannot drink.” Edwin’s voice was matter-of-fact.
Niko rolled her eyes. “Come on. There have to be supernatural nightclubs for ghosts and… and other things.”
Edwin raised both eyebrows, but his expression was otherwise relatively inexpressive.
“It’ll be fun. We can be, like…” she thought back to all the movies they had seen before. “Like Molly Ringwald in Pretty in Pink, or teenagers in more recent releases. Like the kids on the boat in Booksmart, or the friends in Heartstopper.” She paused. “Look, I know you might not like the idea of a nightclub. But maybe we could give it a try! It could be a ton of fun, and if you hate it, we’ll just leave.”
Edwin looked down at his hands. They were tightly fisted against his knees, which he was resting them on as he sat cross-legged. “Well,” he said finally, “I do like Heartstopper.”
Niko beamed and scooted over to Edwin. “I’m pumped,” she said, resting her head on his shoulder.
“Yes, well,” Edwin said, nudging her, “do not do anything silly as you lie in wait for our excursion.”

Happy Halloween!
Trick or treat!
Happy Halloween!!
🍬🍬🍭🍫
I blacked out and wrote this
Scar jolted awake. He groaned, trying to understand why he woke up, a glance outside his window telling him the moon and stars were shining brightly, albeit slightly distortedly, from behind the thick layer of clouds looming over the server. Scar shivered, shifting further under his blankets, trying to get back to sleep, before he heard it. The sound of something scratching against his bedroom door. He sighed, if his cats could get out of his room through the window, they could get in through the window. He wheeled himself over to the door, rubbing sleep from his eyes with one hand as he opened it with the other. As expected, the three cats were waiting for him on the floor. What was unexpected, however, was the speed with which they ran in; the kittens jumping into his lap skittishly, while Jellie darted towards his windowsill, staring outside and hissing. Upon closing the door again, Scar went to the windowsill, reaching out to touch Jellie gently, assuming she’d been spooked by a mob. The fearful, superstitious part of Scar’s mind reminded him of the tales of cats sensing the supernatural, and he opted to shut the window, noting the fact it seemed to creak more than usual, but somehow still moved swiftly. He then hoisted Jellie into his lap with Katy Bee and Mr Finnegan, and went back to bed, dismissing the sound of a racing heartbeat in his ears as his own stress. As Scar drifted off to sleep again, he was blissfully unaware of the bright orange eyes, ever watching through his window.

I haven’t watched Supernatural in a while, but I’ve been home and have had it on the last few days (they’re at season 3 on reruns). *Damn*, even then Jared couldn’t act. His pained expressions look like he’s squeezing out a hard turd.
Jensen though, he was destined for stardom.
Also, Katie is miles above Gen as Ruby.
I adored Katie Cassidy as Ruby. She made the character infinitely more interesting, was a better actress, and I admittedly had a crush on her.
Whether it was the bad acting or the writing, Gen's Ruby never resonated with me. I hated everything about that character.
Jared had his moments in the first few seasons and I think it was about season 6 where the ugh factor really came into play for me...but season 3 is, IMO, not a great season for him either.

When It All Falls Apart - Chapter 13
Pairing- ex!Jensen x Padalecki Reader
Word count- 4,363
Warnings- Some language. Dealing with a breakup. Sad reader. Angst, If I missed something let me know!
A/N-Jensen finally realizes how bad he screwed up, but someone else is coming in for the reader's attention. A little off canon, SPN ended after 10 years. We still got all the characters in during that time though. Thank you to @writercole and @leigh70 for your help with this. You two are amazing!!
Summary-Y/N Padalecki loved acting on Supernatural. Working alongside your older brother and your boyfriend, but after ten seasons the guys have chosen to hang up the guns. Now the three of you are moving on to other projects, but that’s all that needs to change right? While you have moved to Austin to be closer to your family and boyfriend, Jensen is working elsewhere. Distance is only the start of your troubles.
Series Masterlist
A ringing phone wakes you from a deep sleep Saturday morning, you fumble to answer it not bothering to see who it is.
“What?” you finally groan out when you hit the right button.
“Well good morning to you too, little sis,” Jeff greets you on the other end.
“It’s Saturday, I don’t have to work. I was sleeping, Jeffery.”
He just chuckles on the other end.
“What do you want brother dear?”
“Your niece and nephew have been asking about you. I wondered if you had any plans today, or if you would like to come over and hang out? I’ll even make you lunch before I send you home.”
When you don’t respond right away he continues. “Did you fall back to sleep on me?”
“I’m thinking. Yes, I’ll come over, but only because Tyler and Katie want me, and because you’re feeding me.”
“I thought that might get you. Bring your suit, I’ll see you in a little bit.”
“Alright, see ya.”
With a groan you push yourself out of bed to get yourself ready. You’re looking forward to seeing your niece and nephew, but your bed had been so comfortable. Forty minutes later you are stopping for a frappuccino and bagel before arriving at their house.
It’s maybe thirty seconds after you pull in the driveway, that the front door opens and two excited children run out to greet you, with their father watching from the porch.
“What, I don’t get you running out to greet me at my car too?” you tease Jeff, walking up to the house.
“Uh no. I don’t think you ever have, or ever will.”
“Fine, whatever. You don’t love me I get it,” you tease.
“You’re so dramatic.”
The two kids are telling you all about the plans they have for you today. The list is a long one and you aren’t sure one day is going to be enough to get it all done. Tyler wants to show you his newly rearranged room, so that is stop number one. You leave there with a handful of hot wheel cars he wants to play with. Of course Katie isn’t going to be left out and her room is next. She shows off a new doll she wants the two of you to play with also.
When you reach the living room Mary Jo is just coming in the front door from a store run. You go offer to help carry in the bags, but Jeff waves you away to go back to the kids. Sitting in the living room you take turns playing with the toys they each chose.
It doesn’t take too long for the both of them to become bored and want to move on to something else. Jeff suggests swimming, and everyone changes into their suits and head out back to the pool. Your brother gets in the water with the kids first and you follow. MJ sits on the steps watching. As you are playing with Katie in the shallow end, your sister-in-law questions you about working on Walker.
Tyler wants you to come swim with him, so you and Jeff switch places, and you play around with him in the water. When the kids tire out, their parents call them up on the deck to sit and try off while Jeff goes in to throw lunch together. Tyler is already trying to figure out what you can all do next before he is halfway through his lunch. He isn’t very happy when MJ tells him his food needs to settle before he can start running around playing tag like he was hoping.
You end up staying until after dinner and the kids wore both themselves and you out. Back in your apartment you curl up on the couch with a movie when your phone beeps, signaling a text. A smile crosses your face when you see the contact name you gave your new costar.
Toby C- Any plans tomorrow?
Me- Oh yeah, super busy! Sleep in, possibly watch a movie or if I get up the energy go workout. What’s up?
Toby C- I heard tonight there was some Summer night thing, it ends tomorrow. Wasn’t sure if you would be interested?
Me-Maybe…
Toby C- Am I supposed to persuade you somehow? If so I’m going to need some help with how to do that.
Me- Haha. What time? If you tell me before noon it’s an automatic no Mr. Allen.
Toby C- How’s 4?
Me- That could work. Do you want to meet there?”
Toby C- I’ll pick you up, send me your address.
Me- Done, See you tomorrow, have a good night.
Toby C- Night.
Turning the movie back on, you look up Summer Nights on your phone. Hot Summer Nights is something the city has apparently put on for five years now. There are 12 different venues which host different live acts each over four days. Pulling up the list of venues you aren’t familiar with any of them. There are a couple that interest you and some that might be a little much, but you’ll see what Keegan is thinking tomorrow.
The ringing phone wakes you from a sound sleep Sunday morning. With a frustrated groan you reach for the offending device from your night stand and manage to answer it without opening your eyes.
“This better be important,” you growl out to the person on the other line.
“Well good morning to you too,” comes with a chuckle from the other end.
“Seriously, Jared? Why are you calling me this early? It was Jeff yesterday, now you. If you two keep this up, I’m going to be an only child.”
“Okay, nine am isn’t that early. We have earlier call times through the week.”
“We do, that’s why I like sleeping later on the weekends.”
“Yeah, yeah, when you have kids that doesn’t happen. Do you want to come over this afternoon? Hang out and have dinner?”
“Thanks, but I already have plans.”
“Real plans, or eating popcorn on your couch plans?”
“Real plans, after I get more sleep. Thank you, but maybe another time.”
“With who?”
“Ugh, does it matter?”
“Just making sure you’re safe.”
“Keegan, happy? I’m going back to sleep now. Bye Jared.”
You hang up before he can say anything else, rolling over you try and go fall back to sleep but it doesn’t happen. Giving up an hour later you drag yourself from the bed and change into workout clothes to take some of your morning frustrations out on the spin bike in the workout room.
After showering, laundry and going over the script for this week’s scenes take up the rest of your day. Just before four there is a knock on your apartment door, opening it you welcome Keegan in.
“Hey, come on in.”
“Hi, thanks.” He takes a look around slightly shocked, “Um, nice place.”
“It’s small, I know. That’s the first thing everyone notices.” Picking up your purse you turn back to him. “Did you already have a venue in mind you want to check out?”
“I thought it was just music downtown? I thought the flier I saw said something about coming downtown to check out live bands, I guess I didn’t read too far into it.”
“I pulled it up last night after you texted. There are twelve different venues with live acts. Some smaller, some fairly big.”
Grabbing your phone off the table you pull the site back up to show him. He takes a minute to look through it before turning back to you.
“Have you been to any of these places before?”
“I haven’t, but I didn’t think the last one listed sounded bad. It’s supposed to be a smaller venue, they serve food, and are featuring different types of music. The other one.” You have to look over his shoulder at your phone to find the name. “That one, The Green Jay seemed similar to the first. The others all talk about multiple stages and big parties. I think those might be kinda packed.”
“You’re probably right about that. Okay, let’s check out, what’s the name of the first one?” He looks at the screen, “Valhalla.”
Taking out his own phone he types in the address to pull up directions. They two of you exit the apartment and after you lock up he follows you down the steps. Getting in the car, you hear his phone announce the bar is 8 minutes away. He pulls into a parking lot on the corner across the street from the bar. Looking up, you see The Green Jay is across the other street.
Keegan waits at the front of the car for you and the two of you make your way toward the first stop, to find that they don’t open until 6 pm.
“Oops, guess we should have checked that huh?” you say sheepishly, turning to him.
“Probably. Well, let’s try the other one.”
That one opens at 5pm, the two of you have forty minutes to kill. Looking around at your surroundings you see an open business across the street.
“We could go to the Chess Club.”
Keegan looks at you with raised brows, “I think I’ll see what our other choices are first.”
Turning the other way you see a number of people down the street. “Stubb’s Bar-B-Q, is down there. It’s another venue, maybe they’ll be open.”
They were, and also already packed at the outdoor stage.
Inside the bar wasn’t too bad, but the outside area in front of the stage was packed. Going back inside you find an empty table and sit down. A waitress comes over for your drink order and Keegan adds an order of Nachos.
“No sense drinking on an empty stomach.”
“You’re a smart one Mr. Allen.”
The drinks arrive and he looks around the restaurant, a band is playing in the background. “So you live 8 minutes away and haven’t been to any of these places?” he questions with disbelief.
“Well, I haven’t even been living there a month yet. I was staying with Jared before that, it’s probably 25, 30 minutes from there. I was living at Jensen’s place first, when I moved here from LA. He might have ordered from here before and picked it up, but I don’t think we ever came down here.”
“I didn’t mean to bring up that. I um…”
“Heard the gossip about that breakup? It was announced on TV, so it doesn’t really surprise me if you did.”
“Sorry.”
You just shrug, not wanting to get into it too much and bring the mood down. “How are you liking Texas so far?”
“Good. Not quite as crazy as California.”
“True. Which is nice sometimes.”
“It is,” he agrees.
“So where did you find to call home while you’re staying here?”
“I’m leasing an apartment at The District at SoCo. It’s like 2-3 minutes away from your place.”
“I’ve driven by there, looks nice.”
“It is. Clean, roomy. I like it.”
“That’s good.”
The nachos arrive and the conversation slows. A little after five the tab is paid and the two of you make your way over to The Green Jay.
The place is already filling up. You ask Keegan to find a table and you grab some soft drinks from the bar to start. Trying to slow the pace of your night out. While at the bar, you find out they don’t serve food but allow you to bring it in from other local restaurants. The band takes the stage and it’s so loud you aren’t able to hold much of a conversation. After listening to a few songs from their second band of the night, Keegan asks if you want to check out Valhalla, which should be open now.
The bands there are just staring for the night, and the place is still fairly empty. Grabbing drinks first the two of you make your way to a table. Keegan notices some foosball tables off the side and challenges you to a game. He ends up winning two rounds and you go back to the table to put in a dinner order. While you wait, you talk Keegan into an air hockey game. This time you come out the victor.
When dinner arrives you make your way back to the table and enjoy the music while you eat. It’s after 9, when the two of you are finally ready to head out.
Getting to your apartment complex, he walks you up to the door, before saying goodnight.
“Thanks for hanging out with me tonight.”
“It was fun. Thanks for inviting me,” you respond.
“We’ll have to plan something else again. See you tomorrow?”
“Yeah, have a good night, drive safe.”
“Will do. Night.”
You wake up Monday to a number of Instagram notifications on your phone. Opening up the app as you get out of bed you see Keegan tagged you in a post last night. There are some videos and photos from the different bars, you never even noticed him taking any. Scrolling through he has pictures of the various bands, a video of you singing along with a song, you standing at the air hockey table looking away from the camera, and one with the outside of each bar.
Fun night exploring more of Austin. Thanks for the company @Y/NPadalecki
You skim the various comments as you're brushing your teeth. There are more than a few that question if you two are dating now and if that’s why you broke up with Jensen. Shaking your head, you continue to get yourself ready for work.
The morning on set goes by quickly, as you are walking to the catering tent Keegan comes up beside.
“Hey, can we take lunch in your trailer or mine? We should talk.”
“Okay, yeah, sure.”
When you both have your food, he follows you over to your trailer. As he sits across from you at the table you speak first.
“Is something wrong?”
“Not really, maybe, I don’t know. I’m not sure if you were on Instagram today, or…”
“I was.”
You notice the brief frown on his face before he hides it. “I saw some of the comments about the two of us dating, and I realized we never really talked about what we were, and what that was.”
He looks up at you, but you stay silent to see where he is going. Your mind is racing, you aren’t sure if you are ready to get back out in the dating pool yet.
“When I asked you to go with me I was asking as a friend, I didn’t mean to lead you on. We’ve just gotten along so well on set, and I don’t know many people around. I thought we could be friends, hangout and whatever. I have a girlfriend, it dawned on me this morning I don’t think I ever told you about Ali. I’m sorry.”
“Honestly, I wasn’t thinking along those lines either. I’m not sure I’m ready to get back out there yet. I could use another friend though, I don’t know too many more than you do here.”
“Friends?” he questions.
“Friends. I’d like to hear more about Ali sometime. If she's in town sometime maybe we could all hang out.”
“I think she’d be okay with that. I’ve told her about you.”
Going back to your food, it isn’t long before you are being called back to set. While you are packing up at the end of the day, there’s a knock on your trailer door.
“It’s open!”
Your brother walks in a moment later.
“Hi.”
“Hey Jare, what’s up?”
“So how was your night out?”
“It was fine. I’ve never been to that part of downtown before.”
“So you and Keegan, huh?”
“Jared Tristen Padalekci, don’t you dare even start with me, don’t go there. Whatever it was or is or isn’t, is no one’s business but our own. I’m not involving you in my love life one way or the other anymore.”
You know there is nothing between the two of you, but you don’t want your older brother’s opinions or interference either way. He stands there staring at you a moment, slightly taken back.
“I just want to make sure you don’t get hurt again.”
“I do appreciate that, but if there was something to tell, I would do it in my own time.”
He stares at you for a moment, “alright, fine. Leaving it alone. Do you want to come over for dinner Sunday? We were going to tell Tom about the baby.”
“That’s a family moment, I don’t want to intrude.”
“You are family too. Plus Jeff’s family is coming. ”
“Then sure, just let me know what time.”
The rest of the week went by quickly, you were on set everyday this week. Thursday is a lighter day for you. Gen and Jared have a few scenes, so you hang out with Tom in your trailer while they are busy. He helps you pick out what dessert to make for Sunday.
“I want that one!” he exclaims pointing to a cake.
“The orange one?”
“Yeah! Can we have those on top too?” He points to a cupcake with orange chew candies on top.
“Alright, let’s see what that cake entails. I’ll see if I can find the candies.”
The cake he chose is an orange dreamsicle with orange cream cheese frosting.
“I think it’s doable buddy.”
“Can we have it tonight?”
“Um, no. It’s going to be for Sunday. But we can go see if they have any cookies at craft services. How about that?”
“Okay,” he reluctantly agrees.
After returning to your trailer with a cookie or three, Tom settles down on the couch and eventually drifts off for his nap. You go over your scenes for the next day until Gen comes to take him home.
You’re grumbling to yourself as you walk through the crowded grocery store late Saturday morning. You should have come after work yesterday and it wouldn’t have been so bad. You’re trying to grab a few groceries for your apartment and the ingredients for tomorrow’s cake. Somehow you spend almost an hour in the crowded store, before you are finally on your way back home. Stopping at a nearby sub shop, you grab lunch to take with you.
Once the groceries are put away, you pull up the directions for the cake and pull out the ingredients needed. Thankfully the apartment actually came with two round baking pans. When it’s in the oven you set out the frosting ingredients that need to rise to room temp and collapse over on the couch.
When the cakes are out you whip up the crumb coating frosting so it’s ready to go when the two layers cool. The orange layer of filling is next. As you are working you realize just how much you miss having a normal size kitchen, and your own pans and utensils. This little one really isn’t meant to spend much time in.
You hit the apartment gym while waiting for the crumb coating to harden so you can finish the frosting. Returning later, you clean up the kitchen after the cake is finished, hit the shower and spend the evening on the couch watching Hallmark.
Over at Jared’s house one excited Tom is waiting for his Unca Jensen to arrive. Watching out the front window he excitedly yells when the familiar truck pulls up.
“He’s here, he’s here, he’s here!” He waits for the truck to stop before running outside, Jared right behind him.
“Tom, how’s it going buddy?” Jensen asks, picking him up and carrying him toward the house.
Little man wastes no time filling him in on the week he’s had. Jensen greets Jared as he walks up to him, and the three retreat into the house. Tom is showing off a new toy and telling him about a blanket fort he built with his dad one night. When it becomes obvious the young boy has some energy to burn, they change clothes and move down to the pool.
It’s later in the swim when Tom brings up his Aunt Y/N. Jared notices the quick look of sadness that comes across his friend's face, and the way he has to look away. The two of them haven’t talked a lot lately, and none of it’s been anything very deep. Gen told him what was said when she picked up Tom, and he is wondering exactly what Jensen might be thinking about his sister.
When Tom tires of the water and they get out of the pool, he decides to bring it up. Making sure his son is occupied with his toy in the yard he turns to Jensen.
“Gen told me about the conversation the two of you had last week.”
Jensen looks up at his friend, but doesn’t speak.
“I’ve heard Y/N’s side of things, and I know what happened here, but I haven’t really heard much of yours.”
Taking a deep breath Jensen looks over at his friend, “What do you want me to say?”
“The truth, what happened? I really thought she meant something to you, or I would have put up a bigger fight when you first told me you wanted to ask her out years ago.”
He thinks over how he wants to explain everything. “Honestly, I didn’t realize how bad things between us had become until after she left Toronto. I really never meant for things to go as bad as they did. I got so caught up with trying not to screw up and piss anyone off on set, and get along with them all, I…I just lost sight of the people who were most important to me.”
He brings back up the Dark Angel set, Jared understands that, Jensen has told him before just how bad things there had been. He can understand his friend not wanting a repeat, especially working with a much larger cast.
“It took a few weeks after she was gone for me to get over the hurt of her leaving and breaking up. Then I started to notice I was waiting for her to call, I realized then she was right. I expected her to call, I stopped picking up the phone and reaching out to her, I stopped putting time and effort into the one thing I should have been terrified to lose. But I was too stuck in my head to recognize what was going on. Suddenly, I didn’t have the one person I wanted to share everything I was working hard for with. I really had nothing at all then.”
They are both quiet for a minute before Jensen continues.
“I’ve talked to Gen and Mack, I’ve told them both she deserves better than me, and she does. But I’ve come to realize, I want to be selfish. I want her back, I need her. I’m just not sure if she’ll take me.”
Jared studies his friend’s face and can tell he really means that. He knows how bad he screwed up, he does seem to be hurting too. “She is still upset, I have no idea if she will or won’t give you another shot. If you hurt her again, I won’t be able to hold back from punching you.”
“I have no intention of messing up again if she is willing to give this another chance. But I don’t know if I can do that to her right now.”
“What’s that mean?”
“I’m going to be working in New Mexico some over the next few months. I’ll be back and forth between here and there, then there is press for The Boys and the movie coming up later on.”
“Are you trying to talk yourself out of this now? Or just giving excuses for why you won’t try?”
“She deserves someone who’s around.”
“That’s up to her. Both of you understand how this industry works. You need to decide if you really want her back before you just start playing games and leading her on. Until you do, maybe you both need some space.”
Jared leaves Jensen sitting out there with Tom, while he goes to see if Gen needs any help with dinner. The four of them sit out on the patio for dinner and Tom asks when Jensen is going to come back over.
“I’m not sure buddy. I leave tomorrow for work out of town again. We’ll do something when I get back alright?”
“How long are you gone for?” Jared asks, as he walks back over.
“I’m in New Mexico until Saturday, I fly to Dallas for Levi’s birthday, then go back to New Mexico. I think I’m here again the Friday before we leave for the Colorado Convention.”
“So you really will be coming back here some?” He questions, trying to get a feel for his friends' plans.
“Yes. It’s just going to be a recurring role. They’ve already started filming, they’re done with me in early November for the most part. I might be in an episode or two filming in the spring.”
“So this one won’t be months at a time, seems like it’s already different from what you were doing earlier this year.”
After dinner Tom runs off to play leaving the adults sitting at the table. Jared starts clearing off the table when Gen goes to get up.
“I got it, you take a break. You’ve been going long enough today.”
It takes him a minute, but what Jared is referring to finally clicks in Jensen’s head. “That’s right, how are you doing? How is baby number 2 treating you?”
“We’re both fine. Not as active as Tom was yet. I’m sure that will change.”
“Does Tom know, he hasn’t mentioned the baby.”
“No, we're telling him tomorrow.”
Jensen helps Jared clean up before heading back home to finish packing. His head is full with thoughts of you, and what he should do. He knows what he wants to do, but he isn’t sure he can face your rejection, even if he does deserve it.
Thank you for reading!

Edge of Sleep thoughts, spoilers ahead
Written while actively watching
There is a lot to be said about visuals in the show, it takes almost an analog method with a lot of the world building and dream parts
There are also a bunch of changes from this and the original, such as the veteran being cut
The symbology from the original is very much there, stronger because of the ability to make small visual references
I love that they atmospherically use older technologies and music, adding to the atmosphere quite well
The soundtrack is very strong, and uses some recognizable tracks aside from the older songs used for vibes
There are a lot of minor adjustments and pacing changes, but it seems to be telling the same story overall
The Condition is, I mean distinctly supernatural, and I do have some mild problems with how it falls into the "Mental illness is black magic" stuff, obviously not as bad as shit like Split, but still not good™
Mateo is my guy just like the original, realest man alive
The special effects could use a little bit, but are pretty great for as indie of a production as this is
The addition of the old woman with cancer makes an interesting additional survivor, and depending on how they play a later scene is going to make things hit hard
Dave's inability to communicate certain things is fascinating
Doctor Castaneda is a fantastic character I love him deeply he's not changed since 1973 and I hope he never does
The show seems to be avoiding a lot of the tribal fetishism the show fell into
POOR BABY DAVE WHAT THE FUCK NOT THE DOCTOR
this version puts more of the blame on Dave and his decision to try "protecting" Katie from what he saw ending the relationship, which I do like
Modapholist feels like less of a deus ex machina, and more like a natural effect of the slightly different medical technologies of this world
They skipped the easy Inception joke, which is good evidence of how the mechanics of the show don't fall into the trap of MCU-ing away the tone of the story as so many modern horror productions do
It feels more like a total restructuring then just a port of the show to a new medium, to its credit
This is paced more like a long movie then a television show
Fuck amazon for definitely trying to drown this, I hope it reaches number one
Subtle references to the plot of the original show, like the cutting off testes comment in the dream
The performance from Mark is really intricately emotional, heart wrenching at times
The thirst scene from the original is so well translated
The situation feels actually more hopeless without a human antagonist early on to hate, same is true with the Zombies being removed, having so much more of an intangible threat makes things feel more inevitable
I was always a little unsatisfied with how things ended with the original show, curious to see what changes
Mateo's self doubt in flying feels very real and tracks well with himself overall
Losing Katie hit, the emotions on that felt very raw, especially with cutting the theme music the episode after
I don't think I really communicated the epicness of a lot of the shots, not necessarily anything daring, but absolutely great
The tensions don't ease with landing on the island, and that's good, feels like more of a struggle overall
Dave's previous experience not giving him any edge, but giving him experience feels right
There being other survivors feels good, allowing the world to have some grander chance of recovering almost
Dave feels so real in being pissed at the situation still not being over, Dave just generally Feels real
Linda is incredible too, our main cast is all so powerfully human
OH FUCK THE ZOMBIES ARE A THING
With Amazon's treatment of the show I doubt that we're going to get more, and I don't know if I want there to be more, in the modern sequel culture we're really not getting a good old fashioned "The End...?" Like a lot of classic horror had

ash's july 2024 reading round up
find all the books and fics i read this month under the cut with a link to the synopsis and my reviews/ratings attached :)
this is just for fun! i'm not a professional, i just like to read <3
booklist:
Bride by Ali Hazelwood (18+!)
• aside from the fact that the main character's name is misery, i well and truly enjoyed this book!! i'm such a sucker for any type of vampire-related story, and i absolutely loved what ali hazelwood did in terms of worldbuilding! the implications of human-werewolf-vampyre politics were so interesting, yet easy to understand, and unlike that of any other story i've read. it tied in well to the reasons for vampyre misery's marriage of convenience to the alpha were lowe and had major implications for the overall plot of the story as well. i loved the mystery element and the romance felt so natural and unforced. in reading almost all of hazelwood's other books, i did have a small idea of the formula her stories usually follow, so i was able to clue into some of the twists a bit early, but even then, the mystery just kept unraveling and unraveling and it still kept me hooked until the very end! even with my correct guesses, there was even more i didn't clue into until the very end and i looooved it so much! so unexpected! misery and serena were such a cute and accurate description of best friends. each word of the use "bleech" (bitch + leech - vampyre name calling) was just so funny to me for whatever reason. misery's character development over the course of the story was fascinating, watching her come from a cold and uncaring vampyre society into the interconnected pack mentality of the were's was incredible. all of her actions with lowe's little sister anna melted my heart and exemplified the changes misery was going through to be the person she wanted to be! and of course, her and lowe were so electric and steamy, despite coming from two different worlds and their dedication to each other and their goals was staggering. such a wonderful read, could not recommend enough! i was super worried the supernatural and otherworldly elements would fall flat because hazelwood has thus far written contemporary romance, but i really can't emphasize enough the intricacies and care she put into this one; it really shines through :)
• rating: 5/5 jars of peanut butter
fic list:
first, one i forgot on my list from last month - sorry!
Music of the Spheres, or, Reading is FUNdamental by ItsyRoyal
• SUCH A CUTE JAMES/LOGAN (jagan? lomes? talk about rarepair) fic about learning and music and love and ugh i read it like three times over im just obsessed. highly, highly recommend this lovely story
2. A Million Little Things by @btr-rewatch
• god these boys... the most adorable story about the boys pre-canon highlighting the importance of their friendship <3 kendall gets into a fight defending the other boys from a bully and they rally together to take care of him 😭 some of the best characterization of the boys ever and the displays of care are so them but so tender and ugh. i said this in the comment i left but i feel like btrtv loses a lot of importance on their friendship when the shenanigans come out to play; it was sweet to read here <3
3. Assorted works of @selangkir <333
• Continuation of their Jo/Lucy fic!
• katie & gustavo blurb!
the way you write these familiar characters with your own personal flare never ceases to amaze me. i always think you capture them perfectly and the stories you share always emotionally impact me so deeply. the jo/lucy fic has me kicking my feet and giggling and god i love them so much and i can't wait to read more. the katie & gustavo fic was so funny and heartwarming. the way you see them is so unique and we are lucky you want to share <3
4. Assorted works of @ceruleanmusings :)))
• Big Time Girlfriends - Carlos & Sammi
• No Idea; 1: Miscalculation
• .8
• .9
• Blood Diamond Prologue + Year One
• you had me at pie - mickames
• in sickness and in health - mickames
friend... what can i say that i haven't already? Impeccable storytelling every single time you open your preferred writing platform; i always feel like im right there in the scene with the characters. sensory description is like your bread and butter and i'm just in awe every time you share something. bt girlfriends was so cute - i don't know much about your version of carlos or much about sammi, but the scene at the carnival with the two of them was just adorable. they're such good friends and i love how they're able to help each other out :) miscalculation is gutwrenching, but james and mrs. knight sitting down to have that conversation was necessary and so well navigated. your take on brooke had me screaming into my pillow btw... blood diamond was an incredible read - love baby james <3 and the two mickames stories... god they get me every time. the way you combine the romantic elements with points of mickey and james' pasts and emotions just kills me. truly some of the best writing in the world and i'm not just saying that because i love them so much! the thought you put into your work is always evident and i hope one day i can tell my own stories even half as good as you <3
5. Assorted works of @partiallypearl
• wake up, sunshine
• may you always know you have my hand to hold
• btr girls blurb
• life's what you make it (so let's make it rock)
• hey, hot stuff
pearl!!! ahh!!!!!! the way you were able to take random and simple one-word prompts and turn them into literal works of art is just astounding to me!!! the small three blurb collection was so sweet and showed off the characters personalities so well in such few words. coming from someone literally incapable of writing anything short that just amazes me. i also couldn't get enough of the carlos & logan story gah the boys get me every time... it goes back to what i said in point two lol, the display of their friendship is so uplifting to see and you've just mastered it. and the lucy/logan fic... lots to consider here... i just can't get enough of you and your work!! <3
6. Assorted works of @icegirl2772
• Brontide + Sphallolalia blurb
i know you are busy living your life and working and everything so i will sit and wait patiently for more kaelyn and james content until the end of forever. happy to accept the tiniest of blurbs about them and this one was just too cute! ty for indulging me hehe <3
7. Assorted works of @cant-get-enough-btr-forever
• Big Time Amnesia
!!!! i love your stories so much !!!!! top tier characterization, hilarious dialogue, character-driven stories... god you've got it all up in there. while i'm not typically a fan of the amnesia trope, the way you worked it into the story just had me hooked; poor carlos and his new British ways... and the end had me laughing out loud tbh i know how you feel about logan and his southern accent so the personal touch there made it all the better! tysm for sharing yet another incredible story <3
8. A Field of Blooming Tulips by @bunnyfern
admittedly i was a bit worried the first time i read this story, but after the rework i'm enjoying the story you're developing so much! all the bits and pieces you throw in about crowe have me dying to know more about her and her past, her likes and her dislikes, and seeing her grow and change to fit into her new environment is very well done! she and james 👀 though quite different already have a little spark of chemistry and i'm excited to see where the story takes them!!!
9. MY OWN DAMN STORY
unfortunately i've been reading my own story more than i've been writing my story. rames fan #1 isn't producing rames content fast enough to keep up with her own demand... help!!!!!

‘After rehearsal, my face hurts from laughing!’ The Ghosts cast on fun, fame and their festive farewell
One of the UK’s most cherished comedies is bowing out for ever. The stars talk about nicking things from the set – and being called ‘outrageous and shameful’ by Piers Morgan
Thanks, I tell the creators of Ghosts sarcastically, for making my daughter cry. The evening before, my family watched the supernatural sitcom’s final episode, and the only dry eyes in the house were mine.
This reaction, I tell Martha Howe-Douglas, Laurence Rickard, Jim Howick and Mathew Baynton over Zoom call, is going to be replicated across Britain. Did you think about how you were going to ruin everybody’s Christmas when you wrote this tearjerker? “Ah, you can but dream,” says Baynton, who plays the Romantic poet Thomas, wistfully.
The Ghosts team implore me not to reveal plot twists from the last episode, but there are some tantalising details I can share without spoiling the viewing experience. First, this is the episode where the final secret about the ghosts is revealed, namely how the Captain died. Second, there is a flash-forward to Alison and Mike in their dotage. But most of all, this is where we learn the fates of everybody, living and dead. I’d like to reveal more about whether Alison and Mike do sell land from the estate to build a golf course, or if any ghost is going to emulate Katy Wix’s character Mary and be sucked off (their words) into the spirit realm, but if I did it’s quite possible the cast would hunt me down and chop off my head. Or maybe they’d just haunt me for ever which, to be honest, doesn’t sound so bad.
The show’s premise – that the ghosts can never leave the grounds of the house – is a tragicomic trope of Britcoms, ie that the protagonists can’t escape their fate. It was Harold’s psychic wound in Steptoe and Son, and now in Ghosts all the spirits are stuck in each others’ company for good as if Button House is a home counties Hotel California. Or if you prefer, the Horrible Histories team have made a funny Uncle Vanya.
Four talking heads nod on their respective Zoom screens.
“I always think Chekhov is funnier than it’s usually done,” says Rickard – who plays two parts, Humphrey the headless and Robin the caveman. “They’re fixed somewhere and also utterly baffled as to why they’re there. So you have these existential crises going on with people who are already dead.” “I was in a production of Vanya once,” says Howick, who plays Scout leader Pat. “It was nothing like this.”
Baynton says: “On the face of it, it’s about ghosts, but it’s really just a metaphor for what it’s like to be a person. You’re born into the world and everyone’s got different opinions about what everything means. To do that in a family sitcom always felt like an amazing trick to me. It kind of is Beckett, but it’s um ... silly Beckett.”
Cast your mind back to April 2019, when the team behind Horrible Histories unveiled a new comedy. Did your careers ever recover from Horrible Histories being endorsed by Michael Gove as a tool for teaching? “I think that was nicely ballasted by James Cleverly or Piers Morgan a few years later around Brexit saying that it was a waste of licence fee,” says Baynton. It was actually Morgan who, with his unerring grasp of the national mood, in 2020 tweeted that the show was “an outrageous, shameful abuse of public money”.
At the outset, Ghosts seemed like a spin-off from Horrible Histories’ Stupid Deaths segment, in which the team recreated a laughable demise (King Harold shot in the eye at Hastings, self-styled gong farmer Richard the Raker drowning in his own poo, Aeschylus killed by an eagle dropping a tortoise on his head). The eponymous Ghosts often died similarly stupidly: Howick’s Scout leader Pat died in an archery accident and wears an arrow through his neck for all eternity; Lolly Adefope’s Georgian noblewoman Kitty was slain by a spider bite from a transatlantically imported pineapple.
In episode one, thirtysomething herberts Alison and Mike move into an ancestral pile that she’s inherited, only to find that it’s haunted. After she falls through a window and cracks her head open, Alison can see the ghosts but Mike can’t – though if he could he would probably put out the lights of the dead Romantic poet who keeps putting the moves on his wife.
Ghosts has been a lovely antidote to our times. For the cast too, making it has been a joy. “We’re very different people,” says Rickard, “but the thing we’ve got in common is a sense of humour. And if you can have one thing in common, that is the best thing, because it’s a light, fun, nice thing you want to keep returning to.
“At the end of rehearsal day, my face hurts from laughing. It’s a really unusual feeling that you’re giving yourself a headache from having a good time, without being horribly drunk.”
A few days later, I interview Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe, who play Alison and Mike. “I think it has real kindness at the heart of it,” says Ritchie. “The core of the show, I think, is that all these people you might label as different are navigating things together.”
That said, Ghosts also manages to tackle some pretty important social issues. The second world war army veteran Captain, whose love for a junior officer dare not speak its name, is fondly imagined. More significant yet is the representation of people of colour. Smith-Bynoe says he was especially delighted when last year’s Christmas special depicted something he’d never seen on TV before: a Black family having Christmas dinner. “I’ve had couples come up to me and, them being an interracial couple, say that it means a lot to them to see that at the forefront. It’s not talked about, just there.”
Ghosts has made the pair famous. “If I wear Alison’s jumpers when I go out, I get recognised,” says Ritchie. Or misrecognised: “I was out the other day and this woman came up to me and said: ‘Liked you in Fleabag.’ So I went with it.” “Why not?” laughs Smith-Bynoe. “I had a thing where somebody was convinced I did a warm-up for Mo Gilligan.” But you never have done? “Of course not! But it was hard to convince them I knew better.”
Both Ritchie and Smith-Bynoe would like to have a word with the writers. They’re not happy the show has come to an end. “I’ve got nothing in January,” she says. “Me neither.” They have a point. They are unemployed in a cost of living crisis while several of the writer-actors on the show have parlayed their fame into work on other lucrative franchises. Baynton can now be seen as Fickelgruber opposite Timothée Chalamet as the eponymous Wonka, while Simon Farnaby co-wrote Wonka, Paddington 2 and the forthcoming Paddington in Peru.
In theory, Ghosts need never end: spirits are eternal, so shouldn’t a sitcom about them be, too? Perhaps the Ghosts team should consider making a spin-off. What would be the Frasier to Ghosts’ Cheers, I ask. “Mick,” says Baynton. He means the ghost who shares the cellar of Button House with other plague victims, each one played by a member of the main cast. “It’d be called Mick with an exclamation mark. And it’d have a live audience. I’d come on and say: ‘Hello everyone! Hiya! I’m home!’ Like Happy Days. Don’t even bother with the makeup, the lights aren’t on.” It sounds terrible, to be fair.
Perhaps we have to accept that Ghosts is dead. Certainly, the cast have plundered the set for memorabilia. Ritchie has snaffled Alison’s jumpers, Smith-Bynoe took Mike’s monocle, Howe-Douglas has Lady Button’s rings and Ben Willbond has taken the Captain’s stick. Rickard proudly holds up Humphrey’s severed head to camera.
All that remains now are the repeats. “I think, more so than drama, people will go back to comedies they love and want to experience them again and find more in them,” says Baynton. “There are plenty of shows that are comfort. Sometimes you put them on so you can have a nap.” He seems to be suggesting that Ghosts is part of that soporific canon. I look at the four screens, each interviewee giggling happily at the thought of Britain not sobbing over the last episode, but dozing through repeats. It may be ending with a Christmas special, but Ghosts will be haunting us for many years to come.

good evening, have a snippet from the next installment of the demon au
"If by them, you mean the weird black blobs you brought in here with you," Katie said, "-then yes. I can totally see them. What are they?" "Well, they're not blobs for one thing," Keith said, "-they're beings made out of pure energy. Also they're demons." Katie blinked. "They're what?" "Demons?" Keith frowned, like he couldn't understand what wasn't clicking. "Like… low level ones or something?" Katie asked. Keith huffed. "Are you kidding? These two are at least older than ancient Rome." Katie opened her mouth. Closed her mouth. Opened it again. "…you're exaggerating, right?" Keith just hummed, leaning his chin into his hand with a bemused grin. "Nope." Katie squinted, her gaze going back and forth between Keith and what were apparently demons. They had gone very still, and abruptly, she got the sense that they were watching her. A shiver ran down her spine, that upside-down feeling momentarily creeping up the length of her spine- -and then it was gone. So were the demons. She swallowed, slowly turning her gaze back towards Keith. He was watching her intently, the blue violet color of his eyes betraying his supernatural nature. "So," she began, "-if they're older than ancient Rome, then…?" Keith just huffed. "I'm eighteen." "Not to quote Twilight," Katie said, "-but how long have you been eighteen?" "Two months," Keith said bluntly, "-also what's Twilight?" "God I wish that were me." Katie said. "Also, happy belated birthday I guess? Have a scone. I bought two. They're buttermilk maple."
