The Drama Kid Has Feelings
Tumblr media
Request: Yes or No
(Y/N) approached his sisters' locker.
“Who the hell did this?” He asked, arms crossed as Kate furiously wiped at the insult on her locker. Kate glanced at him.
“No one-”
“Kate.” (Y/N) cocked a brow. Kate frowned, sighing softly.
“Just some rumour going around..." She said. (Y/N) eyed her, hands in his pockets.
"Who started the rumor?"
"I think it was Emaline." She looked back at her locker. (Y/N) clenched his jaw and nodded.
"I'm fine, (N/N). I promise." Kate assured. (Y/N) sighed.
"Alright... Let me know if anyone else bugs you, okay?" Kate smiled, nodding. (Y/N) walked away, ignoring anyone who greeted him. He turned a corner, bumping into someone.
"Can anyone in this school watch where the- Oh, hey, Messner." Oliver watched (Y/N), grinning. (Y/N) furrowed his brows a bit. He and Oliver weren't buddies. Hell, they never even had a conversation but Oliver acted as if they were best friends. It was odd for the guy with a god complex.
"Not in the mood for your drama kid antics. Especially after what your friend did." (Y/N) said, walking past him. Oliver stared after him, hurt and confused. He blinked, realizing what he meant.
"Emaline..." He growled quietly, going off to find his friend.
(Y/N) looked up from his book, overhearing some girls.
"Did you see Emaline's and Oliver's fight? I think they're not friends anymore." (Y/N) glanced at Oliver when he entered the classroom. Oliver sent a small wave and (Y/N) gave a small nod in response. It was probably the first time he had actually reacted to Oliver greeting him during class. (Y/N) turned his attention onto the morning announcements, watching the little music video Luke, a friend of his sister, made. (Y/N) looked over at Oliver, making eye contact with him. They held it for a little until..
"Kate Messner... Will you go out with me?" (Y/N) sat up, brows furrowed slightly. Everyone in his class glanced at him. He focused on the screen as the camera went to Kate and Luke. (Y/N) clenched his jaw when Kate said yes, tapping his pencil against the desk.
"Well, (Y/N)-"
"Don't." He glared at the teacher. The teacher cleared their throat and started the lesson. (Y/N) barely paid attention. The look on his sisters face. She was too sweet for her own good. (Y/N) blinked, staring at his broken pencil tip. He rolled his shoulders, trying to relax. (Y/N) stood, packing his things.
"Wanna skip? You certainly look like you need it." Oliver crossed his arms, approaching him.
"My dad would find out in a heartbeat.." (Y/N) shifted his glare onto him. His gaze softened and he sighed.
"Fine... Whatever." (Y/N) slung his bag over his shoulder. Oliver seemed surprised, expecting to be brushed off.
"Well? Come on." (Y/N) walked away, letting Oliver catch up with him. (Y/N) led him away to a secret spot, sitting down. Oliver sat down beside him, offering a cigarette.
"Heard you got into an argument with Emaline.." (Y/N) said, handing the cigarette back to him. Oliver nodded.
"She can be a bitch sometimes."
"What was it about?" (Y/N) looked at him. Oliver licked his lips, avoiding his gaze.
"The whole Kate thing." Oliver replied. (Y/N) hummed.
"So, the drama kid has feelings. For who makes me wonder..." (Y/N) blew the smoke into his face.
"We're having a party.. You should come." Oliver said as he turned his head, looking at him. They slowly inched closer.
"(Y/N) Messner, report to the principal's office." (Y/N) groaned softly, standing up.
"See you at the party, Oliver." (Y/N) smiled before jogging away. Oliver breathed out, ruffling up his hair.
(Y/N) drank some beer, chatting with one of the girls. He glanced at Oliver as he spoke about New York. His attention went onto the stage as the curtains were drawn and there stood Luke and his friends. Kate joined them.
"Kate." (Y/N) stood up, narrowing his eyes. He saw panic flash in her face.
"(Y/N)." Kate squeaked.
"Get the guys, Let (Y/N) deal with his sister." Oliver instructed. (Y/N) placed his beer down, pulling his sister away as the drama kids pounced on Luke and his friends.
"What the hell are you doing here? With beer for fucks sake." (Y/N) hissed.
"I could ask you the same thing! Does dad know you drink and smoke?" Kate asked, glancing over at Luke.
"Answer the question, Kate."
"We came to make peace with them!" Kate explained as Luke squealed. The boys were shoved on stage and Kate joined them when the lights turned on. Luke explained their idea. Oliver forced them to come up wiyh an idea. (Y/N) tried to light a cigarette, huffing when his lighter didn't work. He looked up as Kate spoke. He wasn't very interested in their little rivalry. (Y/N) went off once Luke started drinking. He found a small spot and leaned against the wall. (Y/N) tried his lighter again, only for someone to light the cigarette for him. He glanced at Oliver, smiling.
"Hey, Romeo." (Y/N) greeted. Oliver put his lighter away.
"Prince Charming." Oliver grinned. (Y/N) chuckled.
"About the other day..." Oliver trailed off as (Y/N) stepped closer.
"When we almost..." Oliver was pressed against the wall.
"Kissed.." Oliver felt his lips brush against (Y/N)'s and almost melted.
"What about it?" (Y/N) asked softly, fingers trailing down. Oliver replied by kissing him, wrapping his arms around him when (Y/N) picked him up. It was the start of an adorable relationship.

Other Thing I Write For!
Calum Hood Ashton Irwin Shawn Mendes Stuart Twombley (The Internship)
If there is not a certain character/person on the list, it’s because I can’t find any inspiration to write for them! Sorry!
Guidelines
Please do not request:
SMUT: I am very uncomfortable with writing smut. I do not care if you like it, I will not write it. If you are going to request it, please, request it to another blog that does write smut. If you request it, I will delete the request. I don’t want to sound harsh, but I need to make it clear.
An exception to SMUT: I will write makeout scenes, as long as it doesn’t go too far.
Kids/Pregnancy: This is another thing I am not comfortable with writing. I also find this type of story very boring, and hard to write.
An exception to Kids/Pregnancy: I will write the characters babysitting, or working with kids.
Please request:
Sibling reader: I love writing stories where the reader is an older/younger sibling of a character. I find them very fun to write, especially if it’s a sibling!reader x certain character (ex: Steve Harrington x Mayfield!Reader)
Platonic reader: I love writing stories where the reader and a character grow up together or are good friends, so please, request some platonic stories!
Fluff: It’s probably my favorite thing to write! I have an easier time writing things that are cute and fluffy, and they make me very happy!
Angst: I like to put my emotions into what I write, and angst is a great way for me to do it! So please, request some angst!
Send in prompts: I have a prompt list in my blog description, where you can pick up to three prompts for me to use in a story! I try to add to the prompt list as much as possible, so there’s always new prompts to request!
AUs: AUs are just so fun to write! Send in any! Soulmate, coffee shop, bookstore, etc.
Song Prompts: If I can find a way to make the song work with the fic, I’ll write it!
Headcanons: I’ve never written a headcanon (yet), but I’d be more than willing to try!
Remember
When you request, I will need a character and what they are to the reader/ who the reader is (ex: Steve Harrington x sister!reader/Wheeler!reader/etc) (this rule does not apply if you want a normal fic)
I also need a plot/prompt! I have a hard time writing for “Richie Tozier x reader fluff”, or something like that. It would be so helpful if you could come up with an idea!
A few more things to note
Just because you send a request does not mean I will write it. I may not find inspiration, or I may just not like it. Please, please understand that.
It is not “first come, first serve”. It may take a day for me to write your request, or it may take two weeks. It depends on what I’m in the mood to write, and when I’m in the mood to write. I do not like to be rushed, so I’m sorry if it takes some time for me to write your request.
Side note
I have a very hard time keeping up with my writing schedule, mainly because of school. Sometimes I don’t write things for months. I haven’t forgotten about you or your request, I just haven’t had time to write it.
Thank you for reading this! It would be great if you could follow the guidelines! If you’re confused about anything, please message me!
Reblog to signal boost! It would mean a lot!

Angela McAllister’s Top Ten Favourite Children’s Books
Angela McAllister is the author of A Year Full of Stories and the recently published A World Full of Stories. Two wonderful books which my girls are really enjoying at the moment. Angela’s ability in collecting such wonderfully rich stories and comprising them into these two beautifully illustrated books is a gift and I’m so happy she agreed to share her top ten children’s books with us. You’ll agree it’s a fabulous list and I’m rather inspired to look up a few from her list for my girls. Enjoy and thank you Angela!
1. Next Stop Grand Central by Maira Kalman  – This book is a masterpiece. On my first trip to New York I had to get an extra suitcase to carry all the books I bought and this one is my favourite. It tells of the extraordinary variety of people who work in Grand Central Station and the life that goes on there from dawn to dusk; the maintenance, the services, the restaurants, the greetings and partings, the hints of exotic destinations, all of life is here, full of colour and quirkiness. Even minor characters are so fascinating that you want to follow them out of the book into whatever life they came from. Maira Kalman’s vivacity is expressed not only in her compelling illustrations but also in the way she paints pictures with words. It’s a great book to inspire young writers.
2. Over and Under by Kate Messner –  Illustrated by Christopher Silas Neal. In contrast to the more zany books on this list, here is something as gentle and full of wonder as snow itself. A girl and her father ski through the snowy woods, while we are simultaneously shown the secret world under the snow where the smallest forest animals stay safe and warm. This is a wonderful example of the exciting growth of non-fiction picture books and has become an instant favourite. I particularly like the pages at the end with extra information, further reading and links.
3. A Near Thing For Captain Najork by Russell Hoban – Illustrated by Quentin Blake. This sequel to the equally wonderful How Tom Beat Captain Najork And His Hired Sportsmen is a riot of a story about a boy who invents anti-sticky while fooling around with his chemistry set. When he uses this amazing new technology to create a mechanical jam-powered frog, his adversary, Captain Najork, pursues him in a five-man undulating snake, to settle an old score. The climax is an arm-wrestling match between two of the most extraordinary female characters in children’s literature. I love this for its exuberant nonsense. It’s the perfect pairing of two masterful picture book creators.
4. The Man Whose Mother Was A Pirate by Margaret Mahy – Illustrated by Margaret Chamberlain – I can’t possibly have a top ten without pirates in it, or either of these brilliant Margarets! An ‘ordinary little man’ who works in a drab office is persuaded by his mother, an old retired pirate, to take her to visit the sea. In a liberating journey of discovery, the man comes to understand his true nature and becomes a pirate himself. This is the book to read if you ever need reminding how good it is to be alive, but beware, you may feel an irresistible urge to go the sea afterwards.
5. The Green Ship by Quentin Blake – This is a magical book that tells the story of a summer holiday in which two children, staying with their aunt, discover a topiary ship in the neighbour’s garden. A beautiful relationship grows between the old neighbour, her gardener and the children. Together they make imaginary voyages around the world, cross the equator and brave a storm. Quentin Blake’s sketchy, atmospheric illustrations here have quite a different feel to those in the first book on this list. It’s a lovely evocation of how age and youth can make believe together. Perfect for anyone who would love to play in an old, overgrown garden.
6. The Two Admirals by David McKee – When a famous retired Admiral moves into a quiet village the locals are proud to have him there. They don’t complain about his powerful presence. They tolerate him boasting that he can do everything better than anyone else. However, when a second self-important admiral moves in and the two start to compete with each other in absurd ways, life becomes intolerable for the villagers. If only all larger than life, boastful characters could be dealt with by offering a prize to the one who could keep the peace longest! David McKee also gave us the wonderful Mr Ben and King Rollo books along with many others. Most of all, I love the tremendous wit and warmth with which he observes people. Pure joy!
7. The Witch’s Children by Ursula Jones – Illustrated by Russell Ayto. How I wish I’d written this book! It’s a fairy tale fizzing with energy and invention. I love the great design and characterisation in the illustrations and there is so much content that you find something new with each reading. The story is packed with drama – it’s almost like watching a play.
8. In The Attic by Hiawyn Oram – Illustrated by Satoshi Kitamura. Another fabulous exploration of the imagination, showing how creative the state of boredom can be. With so much constant stimulation around children now it’s more important than ever to allow the quiet time needed to develop imagination. It takes tremendous skill to write such a spare, evocative text as this and Satoshi is a genius with astonishing poetic energy and inventiveness in all his work.
9. Time To Get Out Of The Bath, Shirley by John Burningham – This is a great example of how a picture book can offer a distinct visual narrative alongside the text. While Mum busies about in the bathroom, the reader shares Shirley’s imaginary adventure as she shrinks to be very small and rides her toy duck away through the waste pipe, to a land of witches, knights and an eccentric royal joust. At once familiar and strange, there’s plenty of delicious detail to discover and lots to discuss when sharing this. The world of fantasy plumbing on the endpapers inspired hours of inventive drawing in our house.
10. Bijan and Manije by Ali Seidabadi – Illustrated by Marjan Vafaian. This ancient Persian story, rewritten by Nicolette Jones is one of several books from Tiny Owl who are bringing wonderful Iranian writers and artists to our bookshelves. When I went to the Sharjah Book Fair in the UAE last year I was particularly moved by some of the illustration from Iran and this rich, colourful book is a great example of the exciting work from that region. Folk tales and legends have universal appeal and never age. How wonderful that we can tell our children a story that began in the 10th century!

Imagine:
Emaline calling you to tell you that Oliver, your boyfriend, got stuck in a tree.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Y/N) yawned, standing up and picking up the phone.
"Hello?" He answered. His brows furrowed as Emaline told him the news. (Y/N) sighed deeply, hanging up and grabbing his jacket. Kate, his sister, and his father looked up.
"Where are you going?" His father asked.
"To get an idiot out of a tree." With that, he closed the door. He rode his bike to the location and Kate led him down the forest trail where he spotted Oliver holding onto a branch.
"Oh good god." (Y/N) pinched the bridge of his nose. Oliver perked up.
"Baby?!" He called.
"Yeah, it's me, Oli." (Y/N) replied. McQuaid and Tyler shared a look.
"My knight in charming armor!"
"What the hell did you give him?" (Y/N) asked, looking at the others.
"Nutmeg. If you take enough, you can get high." McQuaid told him. (Y/N) sighed.
"Oli.. Just hold onto the tree as you climb down." (Y/N) said. Emaline giggled. Oliver followed his instructions. Once he was safely on the ground, he spun around and latched onto (Y/N) like a koala. Arms and legs wrapped around (Y/N) as Oliver peppered his face with kisses before giving him two on the mouth.
"Hi, babe." Oliver greeted with a smile. (Y/N)'s eyes softened as Oliver nuzzled into the crook of his neck.
"Hey, Oli.." (Y/N) wrapped his arms around him.
Gifs aren't mine.
