At the question, the dark blue-haired boy raises his hands to wave them in front of his face followed with the shaking of his head back and forth. He hadn't meant to give Kaname the wrong idea! Simply put: he's not entirely great at these sorts of situations. "No... no no, it's not that you're that difficult to come up with a gift for. It's honestly a matter of gifting you something worth it." A matter of appreciation and usefulness. Typically, quick to produce a sharp remark, he wished to come off as calmer than before.
He's readily failing on that mark, thanks to his nervousness over the matter. Calm? Damn for not at least attempting to talk himself down.
As eyes stay glued to the other boy, he feels his heartrate quickening within his chest. Was it okay? Kaname doesn't mind a simple bracelet with a specific flower on it, right? Nothing extravagant in comparison to some of the outfits designed for idols specifically to wear ( not that he WANTS to bring up any sore spots at present -- ). Knees may as well have buckled to cause him to crumble to the ground when gaze notices the very smile etched across their facial features.
Wash of relief cascading through his body from his head to his toes. One of these days overthinking situations might at last be his ultimate downfall if no one kicks him out of it, yet for today -- relief bursts forth. Though, the hug comes so suddenly Jun almost forgets to react to it entirely. A touch of intimacy through the arms encasing his form. Unexpected yet accepted all the same. He returns the hug, even if only short lived.
Though, the request to help put the bracelet on takes him by surprise. "Oh... sure! I can help you to put it on. Here, I'll take it out of the box, and give me your wrist." Reaching in, he pulls the bracelet out of its confines within the box. Jun waits for Kaname to hold out the wrist they wish to place the bracelet upon. Fingers fidget with the small clasp connecting both ends of the piece of jewelry, and upon disconnecting them, he places the bracelet upon their wrist.
With the engraved lotus facing up toward them, he drapes the ends over to meet together upon the underside of their arm. A little of fidgeting with the clasp again, he soon gets it connected. Removal of his hands, Jun peers back up at them. "Again, happy birthday!"
Call it a build-up of nerves within himself as he holds the small gift behind his back. It's not flowers or anything extravagant, over-the-top. Jun rests his forehead against the side of Kaname with a small smile. After all, thinking back on it, he never imagined celebrating a birthday together. Grip tightens on the small box. "Happy birthday, Tojo-kun." Vocals low yet with no hesitation while slipping from his vocals.
After a moment, Jun leans back to look the other boy right in the eyes, unwavering from the stare. "I did get a gift for you, and I hope you accept it. It... took a lot for me to decide on something, so I hope you like it." After the hesitation, Jun moves his hands from behind his back to gently thrust the red velvet box toward Kaname. Within is a metal bracelet to wrap around the wrist with an engravement of a lotus flower on the metal central piece. Nothing over-the-top, very simplistic little gift from him.
Kaname can't remember the last time he'd had anything like a birthday celebration, but he thinks it must have been with his mother. Maybe someone had said something while he'd been attending Reimei, but he'd been much too preoccupied with other things to really pay attention.
And so, it surprises him, just a little, to have any such experiences to call his own now. He isn't sure how to feel at first about Jun, all hesitant and everything, coming to see him just to pass on his well wishes. It baffles him, as someone who has taken this much to be always meant for someone else, never for him. Parties have ever been stories for someone else to tell, and while this is certainly no party, it feels like it all the same.
Yeah-- it feels like a celebration.
Having long since given up on correcting Jun for calling him the wrong name (after all, what's the worst that can happen anymore?) Kaname simply accepts the box, letting it rest safely in his hands while maintaining pointed eye contact for a few seconds too long. He bites back the urge to call Jun an idiot; as if he wouldn't love anything and everything gifted to him. The other boy could present him with a hole-ridden old boot for all he'd care-- he'd be touched by it all the same.
❝Am I that hard to come up with something for? But... thanks,❞ is what he settles on, a little bit softer than he'd intended, a little closer to a joking tone. He moves to open the box, curious, and a little bit nervous. Maybe it's Jun's vibe rubbing off on him.
The bracelet contained within catches his eye immediately, and he runs his fingertip over the lotus to feel the slight dip of the engraving. There's a smile on his face before he realizes it; maybe it had been there all along. He's thrilled, after all. He throws his arms around Jun in another wordless show of gratitude, releasing him after a moment, clearing his throat awkwardly.
❝Help me put it on. I don't want to mess it up on accident...❞
