सुबह जल्दी उठकर स्नान करें और साफ-सुथरे वस्त्र धारण करें।

पूजा स्थल को गंगाजल से शुद्ध करें और रंगोली बनाएं।

भगवान शिव और देवी पार्वती की प्रतिमा या चित्र स्थापित करें।

पूजा की थाली में रोली, चावल, फल, मिठाई, दीपक आदि रखें।

शिव मंत्रों का जाप करते हुए पूजा करें।

व्रत रखने वाली महिलाएं दिन भर निर्जला व्रत रखती हैं और शाम को पूजा के बाद व्रत खोलती हैं।
