#kaeya vc: no you can't die either kaveh

The response from the blond was something Kaeya didn’t expect to be so raw. He was thinking that he maybe would have rebound easily, if not just outright start blubbering and leave it at that. However, he certainly forgets that people’s reactions differ dramatically from one another when they’re drunk. Plus, hearing Kaveh’s thoughts—they resonated within him. Way too much, and way too familiarly. Kaeya nearly yanked his hand back from the architect as though he’d been burned, but he kept it on him. Although, the other man may begin to feel Kaeya’s already cool hand grow a bit colder. Maybe it’d be a comfort.

Staring at Kaveh silently for a while, the Captain sat still as turmoil within him swirled around and battered his heart like a blizzard. It was as though he was staring at himself in the mirror while he listened to the man he accompanied for the evening.

From one moment to the next, Kaeya went from deathly silent to his usual suave demeanor as he cleared his throat and merely smiled once more, offering the blond soothing rubs to his back.

“Hey… You say that, and yet you haven’t been abandoned. Clearly, if you haven’t been, then that means that he nor any other person has given up on you,” he answered calmly, taking in a deep breath before letting it out slowly as he attempted to center himself as well. “I can’t really judge anyone on whether they deserve something or not. It’s not my place, especially when we do not know one another like that. With that being said, though, it sounds like despite everything, he still wants you in his life.

It’s a hard concept to try and wrap your head around when all you can think of are mistakes you’ve made, where things may have gone wrong, and hypotheticals on how things could have been prevented. However, you must remind yourself that you’re only human. Everyone can, and will, make mistakes, and I believe Alhaitham is fully aware of that. Had he gotten sick of you, or found you absolutely intolerable, he would have left you in the streets ages ago.”

The hand does help bring him back from the incoming spiral. Though it does take a moment for him to realize that the other wanted him to breathe with him. A quizzical look is given but eventually Kaveh gets it. Slow timed breaths are taken. Even after the other stops, Kaveh continues, if only to keep his body preoccupied.

“I…” Everything he says makes sense. Alhaitham doesn't have to put up with him. Especially not after their disastrous falling out. But that's exactly why he held onto that belief so dearly. It gave Alhaitham a right to be as evil as Kaveh believed him to be. It would be retribution for his awful actions. “He should. He should want this.”

The napkin is held tightly. Tight enough that the wine it had picked up spilled onto his palm. He couldn't even look him in the eye. The shame in his chest wouldn't allow it  “I deserve this. All I've done is cause problems for people.” Just as he has done for Kaeya. It was supposed to be a lighthearted night of drinks. And here he was, spilling his heart out to an acquaintance at best.

A stranger at worst.

“I shouldn't be intruding in his home. Or his life for that matter.”

⇢ gets “laziest employee” every single time because they never find any scrap to bring back to the ship ⇢ has an awful sense of direction in the game and somehow loses sight of you even when you're exploring the moon together ⇢ gets grounded by your group and is tasked to guide people in the facility through the cams with their walkie talkie ⇢ their inventory is always full but only with useful items like a pro flashlight, a walkie talkie and a ladder ⇢ speaking of ladders, they've accidentally fallen in a hole multiple times and that's why they always need a ladder on them. to get themselves out.
