Okay so I recently, finally, watched Wish and I have some thoughts. Overall, not as bad as everyone makes it out to be, but still has a lot of fundamental story problems and I've got to get them off of my chest. I'll mostly be focused on Magnifico because I think his motivations and arc largely represent the problem with the overall theme.
Okay so my biggest problem with Magnifico is his motivation. His tragic backstory. How on earth does he go from losing his whole family to thinking, the only way he can prevent that from happening again is to grant wishes? The logic doesn't track. It almost makes sense in his creating a kingdom where he protects everyone and "doesn't even charge rent," but it does not make sense with his wish granting. Having a great need to be control to make sure he doesn't lose anyone ever again can be a compelling motivation for a villain, where we see lines crossed that don't justify the intent, but in the movie, he's too self-absorbed to seem to have any actual care for the people of Rosas.
I think if the motivation was changed to something like Magnifico had once been a bright-eyed, enthusiastic wish granter who blindly believed all wishes were good but learned the hard way that that wasn't true could have been a better fit for the overall goal of the movie. Imagine that he granted a wish for a wicked person who used that wish to hurt others, or if Magnifico granted a wish but that wish ended up ruining the person's life because what they wanted wasn't what they needed (i.e. Remember The Princess and the Frog? Dig a little deeper) and that person could have went after Magnifico and blamed him for their troubles (harkening back to We Don't Talk about Bruno). This would be an understandable tragic backstory for Magnifico, and better explain why he's so careful about the wishes he grants. And, perhaps the reason he keeps the wishes he doesn't want to grant is to keep the people in his kingdom docile. No one will be angry with him for not granting their wishes if he makes them forget them and lose that drive and motivation, which makes more sense than the unexplained hording them like he does in the movie? Why does he keep them in the movie other than admiring the wishes? It doesn't make sense to me.
This would give Asha more of a reason to oppose him, if it's shown how his desire to not get hurt or to inadvertently cause hurt turned into a paranoia where he drains people of wishes to fly or play music that inspires others. And, as a side note, we need to see more of how Rosas is a kingdom of people who lack drive and motivation, where only those younger than 18 have that special part of them that inspires them to chase after a dream (something that Astor Rhymemaster touched on). Because that's the point of wishes, right? That's the point of the entire Disney canon. A dream is a wish your heart makes. That star can only get you so far, it takes hard work and determination. It's wanting something better in life, it's dreaming of leaving behind all you know to chase after a tangible light. It's finding a new dream, it's finding a new wish as you grow and learn about yourself and the world.
I don't think the movie Wish understood what makes wishes so important in Disney stories. You know what wishes do? They ignite change. It's not about getting what you want, it's about finding the courage to chase after something better. Ariel wants to be where the people are, but really she wants to be somewhere where others are willing to understand her and in the end, she finds that and makes amends with her father, who finally is willing to see her for who she is. Rapunzel wants to see the lights, and that desire pushes her to leave a tower she's been trapped in her whole life, learning that the world is not as cruel and cold as her abusive mother told her. Cinderella wants to go to the ball, to dance with people who treat her as a person and not a servant of cinders and ash. That wish is granted by a fairy godmother and gives her a hope that is worth fighting for, a hope that helps her reclaim what is rightfully hers; a glass slipper that fits only her and the love that comes with it.
Wishes inspire change. The movie should have been about that. Magnifico could have been right, that some wishes inspire negative change that can drag down multiple people. The kingdom of Rosas could have been so placid because change is scary. Maybe Magnifico could have convinced people, after taking their wish, that it wasn't worth it. Maybe the wish ceremonies could have changed so it wasn't portrayed as some sort of lottery everyone looks forward to, but Magnifico would grant wishes on the spot if he decided they were good and worthwhile, and he would lock away the wishes that would cause trouble and tribulations. 18 year olds could be enthusiastic to give him their wishes, thinking they were surely good and worth granting, only to forget their wish and be told that their wish would have only brought about their unhappiness, this would have justified a more solemn tone in the kingdom, setting up a world where people are mostly downtrodden, thinking their wishes are bad and pointless and they're better off without them. Imagine Cinderella or Rapunzel being told their wishes weren't good, reinforcing all the things their abusive families tell them, taking away that hope and courage to find something better for themselves.
Here's where the true conflict could come in. Asha could be onto this from the beginning, and her opening song could have been about this concern that the people who didn't get their wishes granted aren't willing to try at all. (Because, after all, why doesn't Sabino play music at all? Having that taken from him would take so much joy and creative expression from his life!) But why does Asha know something is amiss?
Simon.
Imagine that Magnifico has a strict rule not to ever share your wish with another person because then it wouldn't come true. It makes sense with our own superstitions, and then makes it so that no one knows anyone else's wishes. Maybe your best friend changes so drastically after giving up their wish, but you believe, like everyone else, that their wish would have only caused suffering. What can you do about it? Well what if Simon told Asha about his wish? What if Asha knew his wish wasn't dangerous and couldn't imagine a way that it could go wrong? That would give her a reason to doubt Magnifico and put more emphasis on how Simon has lost his drive like all the other adults in the kingdom. And it can also emphasize in the end that sharing your wishes and dreams with others can be a powerful thing. Just the act of sharing your dreams can inspire others to go after their own, and they can give you the encouragement to chase your wish too. Wishes inspire change, love gives you the courage to make it happen.
Imagine if the star boy used to be a human, who wished to help others and lost his humanity to do it. Imagine his wish confirms Magnifico's belief, that wishes cause suffering because star boy lost his tether to earth and is separated from the people he loves. Imagine how he foils Asha who also wants to grant everyone's wishes. Imagine him ensuring she doesn't make the same mistake he did while she gives him a reason to change again, to anchor himself to humanity again because he loves her enough not to leave for forever.
Imagine the movie confirming that, yes, change is scary. Chasing your dreams won't always make things better. You might fail more than you succeed and some wishes cannot coincide with each other, leading to grief and strife. But some wishes are worth it. Sometimes, chasing after something better and failing is worth leaving a worse situation. Sometimes taking that chance is worth it, and, like in all fairy tales, if you are kind and generous and act with love, that will make all the difference in the end.
Also, I know everyone wished for a Magnifico and Amaya evil power couple, but imagine if Magnifico was truly in love with Amaya, as he is in the movie, but that love is eventually his undoing. Like Amaya leaps in front of Asha, and Magnifico stops or redirects his attack because she's the one thing he loves more than himself and that is the weakness that Asha and co can take advantage of. Imagine Amaya keeping Magnifico in the mirror and he gets to dote on her from his imprisonment for forever. I'm just saying. At least 30 sickos like me would be into that. Imagine the depth it would give to the themes of love and change and wishing and how acts of love make all the difference.
Alright, I'll get off my soap box. I just really wish Wish could have been stronger because these fairy tales Disney is famous for matter. They really do. But the movie feels too stale and shallow and too much of a cash grab that knows the outline of a disney musical, but is unable to understand the heart of why they work.

Characters Rankings | Out of five stars
Cersei Lannister : ⭐️
I can’t stand this crazy bitch. I hate her. I want to reach in the book and just choke her. Please let her be killed. I’m still in disgust and shock that she killed Robert’s bastards. She vile and disgusting. I'm not even going to get in to the twincest( GRRM needs to be arrested for that)
Jaime Lannister : ⭐️
He’s a weirdo, not the good kinds. I hope he suffers the same fate Bran did but don’t wake up.
Tyrion Lannister : ⭐️⭐️
I just don’t have any real feelings towards him. I don’t hate him, but I don’t like him. I did find somethings he said entertaining so. I like his interaction with Jon too.
Joffrey Baratheon : -⭐️
Inbred bitch.
Eddard Stark : ⭐️⭐️⭐️
He was an okay character. I don’t love him but I like him enough. He did annoy me for most of the book. His honor is just stupidity at this point.
Catelyn Stark : ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I thought Catelyn would be so horrible because of all the things that I heard but she’s just a flawed character. I like her enough. So a three star. That line that she send to Jon that it should have been him was so out of pocket.
Varys : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
He was entertaining and he kept making jabs at Ned that I found funny. Also him being described as an egg was funny to me. Who doesn’t live a good dramatic and messy queen.
Petyr Baelish : ⭐️⭐️ | 2.5
He’s so creepy and I really want him to die. He only got the 2.5 star cause he was funny and he’s actually an intriguing character. He’s needs to back tf off Sansa. He physically makes me sick and I don’t want him on my page but I want to see what he scheming.
Samwell Tarly : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My sweet baby. In my mind he’s chunky and sad, I love it.
Jon Snow : ⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 3.5
I actually like him better than the show. He atleast have more personality in this. His inner thoughts are funny too(Calling Tyrion a gargoyle, Myrcella insipid and even how he’s better than the other Black Brothers.)
Bran Stark : ⭐️⭐️
His chapters are the reason I didn’t finish the book faster. It gets more interesting in the next book I heard, so.
Sansa Stark : ⭐️⭐️⭐️
She over-hated. I liked her. She can be naive but she only eleven so it can be excused. People seem to hate her because she fits into the society that she was born into and thinks she some bully but who did she really bully. She was mean to Arya and Arya was mean to her, so. I love the vibes she gave off, I love girly girls in fantasy. They're usually treated horrible by the authors and hated by fans but I always eat them up. Anyways, I didn’t get to spend too much time with her to give her any higher ranking.
Arya Stark : ⭐️⭐️⭐️
She’s a rebellious nine-year old and I support it. I don’t normally like the tomboy characters and that’s because I always read it in YA and it’s always so sloppy, but I liked Arya. I think I need to spend more time with her though for any higher ranking. Loved her relationship with Jon. I wanted more of than. It was just an wholesome brother-sister dynamic. Jon feels outcasted cause he’s a bastard and Arya because she can’t fit into the societal norm. I really like their interactions. Arya is a character that has the potential to become a character I can like.
Daenerys Targaryen : ⭐️⭐️ | 2.5
It could been higher but I just didn’t vibe with the slavery aspect of her chapters. I just don’t like it. And like Arya and Sansa, I didn’t spend enough time with her.
I’m happy she freed from Viserys and Khal Drogo. Apparently she gets better and so does the whole slavery aspect, but I hope she doesn’t become a white savior. I really hope not, I really want to like her.
Another reason she not higher is because of Mirri maz duur.
Her killing Mirri maz duur will never sit right with me. It felt like she killed Mirri( who was a slave) for harming Khal (who was her master) and I didn't like it. Also the whole idea that Mirri did it to teach Dany a lesson is ridiculous. What would she have to gain by teaching Dany this lesson. Also we have no prove she went out of her way to harm Dany.
Khal Drogo killed himself. She told him what not to do while the herb is on him and he went against. She told them no one is to enter the tent while she was performing the rituals and Jorah brought Dany in still. That's not her fault. There’s no actual proof but just Dany bias and warp idea of things ( Just because it’s from Dany’s point of view doesn’t meant it’s factual. She’s grieving and her mind if looking for someone to place blame on) I just don’t like how she died and it’s really making it difficult to enjoy Daenerys.
Jorah Mormont : ⭐️
I don’t like him at all. He was selling slaves and he’s not even trust worthy. Am I hoping some misfortune fall on him? Yes, very much so.
Lysa Tully : ⭐️
She’s mental. I wanna see her ‘fly’. Her attachment to her son is weird. It’s very weird. Why is she still breastfeeding him. She weird.
Robert Baratheon : ⭐️
He’s a rapist, let’s be real. He’s an abuser and a neglectful father( I know it’s not his kids, but he didn’t know that) He’s an horrible king and he just shut his eyes to everything going on around him. Not to mention he’s obsessive. How are you obsessing over someone you didnt know. Also the 15 year old he got pregnant and then told Ned he doesn’t care about. Disgusting. The way he just fathers bastards and leave them to suffer. He probably knew Cersei killed his bastards and didn’t care. Yuck!
Sandor Clegane : ⭐️
I don’t care how traumatized he is, trauma is not an excuse to be an abuser or harm others. He needs to stay away from Sansa ( all these creepy and nasty men need to leave her alone) and I don’t want him near Arya either( In the show she was depicted has having a mentorship with him and I don’t want it). There’s nothing he can teach her, nothing I want him to teach her. He needs to go and find help and stay away from them. He’s a grown man that takes out his trauma on little girls and that’s disgusting. He’s disgusting.

At first, Talia was wary this new Entity might think to take her right to the leadership of the League from her, or even little Damian. Her father had risen to power in such a way, and their Assassins were trained and advanced in the ranks through such ideals, so her wariness was understandable. So, Danny accepted her proposal to fight for the position of leadership.
Pandora had certainly taught him all she knew about fighting, both with weapons, and hand-to-hand. His friends, Skulker, Ember, Johnny and Kitty taught him the need to fight dirty in cases where one's life is at stake. Jazz, his Queen Mother, taught him to read people, and use a good scrap as a way to judge people and their intentions.
All this to say, when they first crossed swords, Talia drawing him into a parry that almost took his hand off, Danny came to understand what Talia was looking for with this fight. She was good. Perfect, even. His only advantage was the fact he couldn't actually be killed, and his ghostly strength and stamina. He still found himself at the mercy of her sword at his neck, blade pushing at his skin just so, drawing a line of ectoplasm that closed almost immediately. It would be useless to try to kill him, but he would certainly let her try. It was enough for a sort of understanding to be reached.
"My lady, if I didn't know any better, I might've been convinced you were trying to kill me." He sheathed his sword in one smooth movement, like Pandora had drilled into him time and again. But the grin he gave her was all Ember's influence. All sharp teeth and glowing eyes, as he kneels for her. "But I have no intention of taking anything from you. This was your dad's organisation, and now it's yours, now that he's...indisposed. The throne is yours. I have my own, and I would be a poor king if I were to deprive you of your birthright." Her sword is still at his neck, but he's looking up into her eyes as he speaks. Charming. Might even be cute, if he proves to be honest.
"My throne, and my League. Under my command. And you would see me on the Throne? Are you not afraid I might take your Throne too?" Talia is giving him a challenging glare, daring him to threaten her, or become violent at her threat. He doesn't rise to the challenge. Just gets back up, shakes dust off of his knees, and practically painters to her throne, sliding his hand along it's side, carving lines of glimmering ice that curl into ringlets and sharpen into points. "You could certainly try to take my throne from me, but none of my subjects would obey you, and you'd receive no power from it. The Realms chose me to rule. They will not see another ruler while I'm still very capable of filling the position. I'd rather be on good terms with you, if you'd let me."
He's floating now, appreciating his work. Talia might call it almost...alluring in a way. The lines draw the eye to the centre of the throne. To the ruler sitting on it. To her. The idiot had a sword at his neck, let her cut him because she wanted to show him she would have no mercy, and now ensured she would always be the focus of everyone's gaze in the room. "There. Your throne awaits, milady."
Sitting on it, Talia is surprised to find it is, in fact, very comfortable. The ghost's ice doesn't melt, not is it truly cold. It cushions like powdered snow, and it feels right. Made especially for her. "Is it normal for you to fall for women that would so easily kill you? To give the world, even as you might lose your head for your love?"
He's giving her a strange look now, all softness and adoration, where he had been sharp and fierce as they fought earlier. "We fought, and I got to know a part of you through it. In my culture, we spar as a way of greeting, and to show our feelings for each other. And right now? With what I know of you? I would like nothing else than to be at your side, and give you all I am." With a deliciously cold kiss to her knuckles, he takes a step back, away from her personal space, and bows. "And besides, you are right that I have a thing for deadly women. You're...remarkable. Unforgettable. I'd leave and never bother you again, if you ordered me to. Or I'd stay at your side, follow you into battle, if you asked me to. You're worth everything and more, my Queen."
Good thing he's learned to bow deep and ceremonial. Makes it very easy to grab him by his collar and drag him down, stumbling into her, his hands at her sides to avoid falling into her. "Then you had better be a good and loving king, for I will have no less than your utter devotion." Her nails are sharp against his neck, her fingers squeezing just so. He grins at her.
"I love nothing more than to be yours, milady"
@fisticuffsatapplebees @skulld3mort-1fan more tags, dears.
I had a sudden fixation for these two being idiots, and so I had to put out another chapter, this one dedicated to the classic "I love you, and would love you for eternity" moment.
Except, they're both rulers, in their own rights. And the relationship feels like the next logical step. Damian adores him. He's good with a sword, for someone not trained in the League, and very dedicated to giving Talia all she could want.
So, logically, if she's going to rule the League, and take him as her Beloved, she would want him under her thumb where the League grunts and generals might see them, and he's EAGER to have her do so.
I had a very cursed thought and I'm choosing violence and making it Tumblr's problem:
Bruce had his thing with Talia. It led to the Stabby Child that is Damian.
Except, Damian has 2 dads.
Bruce, biologically his Father, and Daniel James Phantom, brought to their world by the Lazarus Pit, who "convinced Ras to retire" (aka turned his mind to mush through Eldritch Madness of Revelation). Talia took over, and, thinking herself The Chosen One, allowed the guy to court her.
In fact she isn't some Chosen One. She's a badass woman who could kill Danny easily, and he's very into that. And it's not helping that she's very attractive, and her kid is very feral and like to fight, like baby ghosts also like to do.
Eventually the Bats get wind that there's been a Change in Management in the League, and they come to investigate. Bruce expects the worst, Tim is just praying Ras is dead and he can get his spleen back, Jason is mildly disturbed that it might mean Talia is leading the Assassins, and Dick is keeping Gotham safe while the others are out.
They expect a cruel dictatorship, or a mound of corpses piles in a corner.
They did NOT expect to see a tiny Damian fight a guy dressed in League armor, a Cape and a crown of black iron, who could've been Wayne Adoption Bait if he was younger, while the guy laughs and corrects his form. Every blow the child is allowed to land simply passes through him.
Talia got herself a very comfy throne (Danny gifted it to her, saying some cheesy line like "no other would be fit for a Queen like you") made of Starlight and Ice, from which she can watch her on and her Beloved bond and train, while her new and improved League watch on as their Prince takes joy in his training and the pride his parents have in him. Soon he shall move to Gotham to meet his other dad, and learn from him as well, so he may know his family and make his destiny as he wishes.
TLDR: Danny is a simp for strong deadly lady and a good dad to her kid. She's indulging in his attention and caring. The bats are confused. Jason can feel the Ghost Adoption that will be coming his way when Danny "Ghost King" Phantom learns of his existence. The League of Assassins, even while they kill people to maintain Wolrd Order, treat Talia, Danny and Damian like the spies in SpyxFamily act towards Loid and Anya :)
Bruce: *opens his mouth*
Talia: You can't adopt my love
Bruce: *closes mouth*
I go a little feral for Jason viewing Talia as his mom so I am 100% behind Danny adopting Jason. Maybe Tim follows him after learning what Danny did to Ras and let's him have his spleen back, tho only on the condition that his own doctors put it back in. Who knows what Ras has done to it and with ecto involved its better to be safe than sorry. Tim is amazed that they can put the spleen back in at all due to how long its been outside his body.
Is this going to turn Poly with Bruce/Talia/Danny? Cause I'd read that!
Lmao imagine everyone going on vacation in the Ghost Zone. I'd read that too!

WNA HALLOWEEN - THE GREAT HIDE & SEEK HUNT!
HALLOWEEN INTERVIEW - CASSANDRA DELPHINNE
SCENE I
[footsteps]
ALKIN: This sleeping chamber... According to Professor Stryx it is an exact replica of the bride's own room. Hm, only a student of Oraluna could be able to divine something like this. Well then-
[door opens]
ALKIN: It's an elegant decor. The furnishing itself seems quite well made, and the accents chosen, but-
Just where is the bride?
CASS: Uwahhhh...
ALKIN: ? Under the bed... Delphinne?
CASS: HE-HE-HEAD PREFECT?!
ALKIN: !! Not so loud!
CASS: I-I-I-I'M SORRY! I-I-I-I didn't mean to shout like that, um... Miss Dion ha-ha-has told me how sensitive beastmen a-are to sound and yet... Um...
ALKIN: It's fine. I was the one who startled you, after all. My apologies.
But, Delphinne-
CASS: Um?
ALKIN: Why are you hiding under the bed?
CASS: Um... I... um...
ALKIN: Did something happen? Did somebody try to harass you? Should I-
CASS: UM, NO!
ALKIN: !!
CASS: I-I'm sorry... Um, no, there has been no-no-nothing like that. It's ju-just... um... [mumble]...
ALKIN: Pardon? I did not catch that.
CASS: ............................. Pe-pe-people from Night Ra-Raven came to visit...
ALKIN: Those children again. Somehow they always seem to make an appearance.
Well, then, did they say anything?
CASS: Um... it was... um... it was a-a-a-actually more li-li-like...
It was Lo-Lo-Lord Draconia's party... um...
ALKIN: Ah.
CASS: I-I-I was trying to play my-my-my role as instructed and, um, sa-sa-saying my lines was ve-very embarrassing, but, um, I-I thought it would be a-alright since they weren't pe-pe-people I would meet a-again...
I was ha-having my eyes closed, a-a-as I should have... but when I-I-I opened them... Um!!
ALKIN: Yes?
CASS: I-I-I-I-It was Mister Si-Si-Si-Silver who stood be-be-before me!!
ALKIN: That child...
CASS: Yes, um... He had this o-odd look in hi-hi-his eyes... I think it wa-was because he he-heard my speech... A-A-And I was confused at first u-u-until I realized that i-i-it could be taken as a lo-lo-love confession!! Uwahhhhhh...
ALKIN: There's no need to cry.
CASS: Um, but they all must think I-I-I'm very odd no-no-now!!
ALKIN: They?
CASS: There wa-was Mister Zi-Zigvolt, and Mister Vanrouge and... um... Lo-Lo-Lord Draconia too! Mister Vanrouge was la-la-laughing too and he-he-he said, um, [It looks like she woke up without a kiss! How mysterious!]
ALKIN: ...
CASS: Then Mi-Mi-Mister Zigvolt started ye-ye-yelling at Mister Silver saying that, um, they should have let Lord Draconia ta-ta-take care of it instead si-since he's a proper prince...
And Mi-Mi-Mister Silver was red too... I think he-he-he was upset a-a-about it... um...
ALKIN: ... That one still likes to amuse himself on behalf of others...
CASS: Um?
ALKIN: Never mind. Then, am I right to assume you hid yourself under this bed out of embarrassment?
CASS: Um, ye-yes... I was so mo-mo-mortified by this si-since I practically looked li-li-like I was confessing to Mi-Mi-Mister Silver...
And it seemed to u-u-upset him too... So, um... I was re-re-really heartbroken, um...
ALKIN: ... [sighs]
CASS: I-I-I'm sorry! I really mu-mu-must have sounded so si-si-silly right now...
ALKIN: It is fine. You're still young, even for a fairy. You'll soon learn not to trust your elders so readily.
CASS: Um...
ALKIN: He really hasn't changed after all...
SCENE II
ALKIN: Your interpretation of the bride's story... It's very poetic.
CASS: Um! I-I-I wouldn't go so far, but, um... It's actually based on an old story I-I-I-I once read...
There wa-was a princess o-o-once who fell in lo-lo-love with a prince from another ki-ki-kingdom... It wa-wa-was love at first sight and they wa-wa-wanted to get wed... but, um, the older sister forbade their ma-ma-marriage... So the prince we-we-went to prove hi-himself up on the mo-mountain and defeat the evil queen who re-re-reigned over a land of snow... But he-he-he never made it back a-a-a-alive so she died o-o-of a broken he-heart...
ALKIN: Hm, that is a romantic opera they tell in the Glacier Mountains, isn't it?
CASS: Um, I-I-I'm not sure... I remember that my granny wo-would have this old book of ro-romantic legends... and there were many ta-tales like this...
Li-Like the story of a princess who fe-fell deep into slumber u-u-until her prince ca-came to wake her up with a kiss...
ALKIN: Hm, the tale from the Valley of Thorns. It was rather popular during our time... But your bride is not dead, is she?
CASS: Um, no! I-I-I was told that the ending where she di-dies of a broken he-heart would be more re-realistic... but... I fo-found it too sad...
ALKIN: Is that so?
CASS: Yes, um... to have wa-waited for so lo-long for her lo-lover to return... and to die from this before they were pro-pro-properly reunited... That is ju-just too sad. Isn't it, Head Prefect?
ALKIN: Perhaps... Then what do you think must have happened in the story?
CASS: Um... I li-like to think they fo-found a way to re-reunite with each other... Maybe they ra-ran away together and started a new li-life... Wo-Wouldn't that be nice?
Love is a-a-a thing that should bring joy, after all, ri-ri-right?
ALKIN: ... I understand now why he seems so fond of the two of you.
A knight from a fairytale coming to rescue a damsel in distress...
CASS: Um?
ALKIN: Ah, I am lost in my daydreams. Forgive me.
SCENE III
ALKIN: But I do have a question?
CASS: Ye-Yes?!
ALKIN: That watch that you're holding... It holds rather old. Is it an antique?
CASS: U-Um... I-I-I'm not sure... It's something that my granny has se-se-send over when she heard about our play... She wa-wa-was so excited to hear about it. I think she wo-would have loved to come over as we-well... but her legs, um...
ALKIN: I see. In those situations, it can be quite difficult... I presume the two of you are quite close, then?
CASS: Yes! She's my granny who ra-raised me since I was a child so I-I-I love her dearly! Until I came to Wa-Walpurga Nacht we ha-have never been se-se-separated at all... So it was quite ha-ha-hard to adjust to life here... But granny e-encouraged me and said that I-I should do my best...
ALKIN: That is good. She seems like a kind-hearted woman.
CASS: Yes! She a-always made sure I-I-I would be looked after... That's why I a-always make sure to send her good wi-wishes during this ti-time...
Um, you see, we used to spend Ha-Ha-Halloween together! Granny was a-a-a bit too old to go to town du-during that time... So we mostly sa-sat at home carving pu-pu-pumpkins and ma-ma-making candy together!
ALKIN: Hm, so you didn't go trick or treating with the other children?
CASS: Um, there weren't ma-ma-many children ba-back in our village... And the ones who we-went trick or treating didn't li-li-like me that much... So I-I-I mostly stayed ho-home with granny instead! Which I-I-I always liked to do!
ALKIN: ... I see. Then you must have enjoyed those moments greatly, despite everything.
CASS: Ye-Yes! Hanging out with granny is a-always so much fun... She knows a lo-lo-lot of stories! And e-even scary ones! She is really good at ma-making up voices, so I grew up li-listening to her ta-tales!
ALKIN: Hm, a scary story on the night of Halloween... How wonderfully appropriate. I don't think I've ever had the fortune of such an experience.
CASS: Yes! Um...
ALKIN: Hm? Is something the matter?
CASS: Um, we-well... Head Prefect... if you'd like I co-could try and tell you a-a-a few of granny's stories... um...
ALKIN: That would be very kind of you... But are you sure that's a wise idea? Your stutter...
CASS: UM! I'M SORRY! YO-YOU'RE RIGHT! I-I-IT WOULD BE VERY TROUBLING IF YO-YOU HAD TO LI-LISTEN TO MY A-ATTEMPTS!
ALKIN: ... No, I meant that it might hurt your throat...
Ah, I hear footsteps. Looks like your next guests are here. Good luck, Delphinne.
CASS: Th-Thank you, Head Prefect!
[door closes]
ALKIN: ... It seems that I might have to run into you eventually, General. To think that we'd look after these children in our old age like that...
They say that fostering new ages starts with a child's education. A human raised by fairies... A child born from both sides... I wonder just what you truly think about your aides...

Hi, so I was wondering about the toons getting an education. You said that they didn't know how to read or write at the begining. First of all, when did they learn to read and write? And second of all, when they started learning those things, how did they do it? Did all of the toons go to school, you know, like kids do? Did they have classes and classmates, different subjects, different teachers? Or did they have private tutours?
So, first things first, thank you Ana for giving me one of my most complicated asks yet! That's why it's taken me so long to answer, I need to first of all sort through the strands of my brain in order to find the answer, and then translate it so it can be understood by normal people.
This headcanon is LONG, I hope you lot enjoy.
the majority of the toons [about 90 percent] are NOT created with the ability to read and write. In the olden days it was generally assumed that they didn't have the ability to learn either.
The other ten percent DID. They tended to be toons that were created to be doctors, lawyers or other professions that need the ability to read and write. Or members of royalty because the creators made the decision that royals would have been taught to read and write and so incorporated that into there designs. This is why Porky Pig is unusual, because he has the ability read and write, but he's not royalty and he doesn't have an official profession. Technically Porky is an anomality, it just happens that his anomality has helped him more than hindered him.
Moving onto the villains, it tends to follow the same rules as above. Grimhilde [wicked stepmother] has the ability to read and write because the creators assumed that as the now queen she had to be a princess before, therefore fit the rules.
Maleficent however, couldn't read or write [much to her frustration] because she was a villainous fairy and although she was [I think?] royalty of some sort within the fairy world the creators decided she didn't need the ability.
You might be getting an idea of the timeline from the movies I mentioned. I headcanon that the toon began campaigning to get an education during the 60's. They did this largely via peaceful means [mainly because one thing that has always been acknowledged by humans is that Toons are quite powerful and they aren't to keen to annoy them massively. The toons for their part don't want to cause massive distress to humans - they want to make them laugh! - so it actually works to a degree. During the 60's though the Toons decided something needed to be done.
The directors and other higher-ups had been promising to change the rights for the last decade and it hadn't happened. In 1965 the Toons decided enough was enough, they would start peacefully protesting. They adhered to the riles of there contracts to the letter. The LT's contract for instance says they have to arrive at least five minutes before filming starts, so they arrived five minutes before filming started when previously they'd been arriving half an hour so the director could run through everything with them.
They also left straight after seeing as there contract said they were free to go after the filming ended.
The LT's were also contracted to be available should WB ask them to do anything like help in the kitchens, but they only gave to do that for a set amount of hours each week. They worked those hours to the letter and went straight after. A few of the more devious toons even reasoned the contract just says they have to show up, not do any work, so they didn't. At first the studio got round that by asking toons who they knew would do the work properly, but it didn't take the toons long to figure out that was happening and then the 'good' toons wondered why they should bother when the 'bad' toons were being allowed to get off scot-free?
Eventually no toons was doing any work to help the general running of WB at all.
The above, I should mention, did not happen overnight. It took around 18 months, and it wasn't just happen at WB. Although Disney didn't have the exact same contract, they ran on the general principle of arriving at a set time and leaving straight after, so the toons just adhered to there contracted times.
18 months later and the companies decided enough was enough. They were having to go overtime to film the cartoons/movies now the toons weren't doing extra [previously unpaid] hours. [Which they did because the majority of them are perfectionist when it comes to the cartoons and wanted them to be the best they could be.] They were also having to pay the Human employees extra to cover the hours, often at extremely short notice. And unlike the toons they weren't contracted to come in just because the company wanted them to.
So anyway, the point of me detailing this is to explain the circumstances that meant that the companies were at there wits end and ended up petitioning the president to give the toons rights. Mickey Mouse also helped out enormously here as well. Walt Disney had died a few months earlier and Mickey was now running Disney. Which also meant control of the theme parks. Mickey decided that seeing as Toons clearly weren't valued enough to bother educating [despite being proven as intelligent] they shouldn't bother providing entertainment at the parks either.
The Disney toons also had it worked into there contracts that they had to make periodic appearances at Disney's parks [kinds like the people dressing up as the characters do now, except it's the actual toons] and are on a rota basis. Unless they're doing an events [like Halloween for the villains or valentines day for the princes and princesses] then each toon does at least one 12-hour day at Disney per year. It was this bit that Mickey was putting a stop to.
It had a real knock-on effect as, as well as the rides, most people went there hoping for a glimpse of there favourite toon. Without that...
As much of an absolute business-killer as this idea was, Mickey was more than happy to explain to anyone who would listen [read: most of the world news] exactly WHY he was doing it. With all this pressure it was really just a matter of time until the laws changed and the toons were able to gain an education. This was in 1968.
Now as fast as things work in Toontown, this was such a complicated area that it took a full 2 years for the various schools to be built, staffed and a curriculum drawn up (which followed the same basic guide as human education, but with some added stuff and some stuff taken out. It basically followed a 'would a toon actually need this in future life?' and went from there.
Here's were it gets slightly complicated. Because I mentioned before that toons age in a weird way. But the main thing is they go up and down in there age on a day to day basis until they are about 20. This makes educating them quite difficult, to say the least.
The studios solution to this was to bring in Human teachers to teach them at the grades human children would go through. So Kindergarten, Grade 1 ext. The thing was that a lot of the toons had learn some of th education already, like identifying shapes and coulors and things. And of course the ones who were professionals [Like Ludwig Von Drake and Gus Goose] already had a college-level of education, they just needed to prove it to the teachers.
The end result of this was that it wasn't unusual for a toon to be in a class for only a few months at a time while they did the work [don't forget, they only need 4 hours of sleep as well, so they could study for longer if they wanted]
It did eventually even up though and the toons ended up spending 9 months if the right class. For example, Porky Pig aced Kindergarten all the way up till 4th grade and then found he was struggling with 5th grade. This was a shock to him after spending 21 months in education [excluding holidays], to suddenly need help. Porky was forced to realise that he had centred a lot of his identity around being 'the one who can help his friends/family read.' and hadn't expanded his personality much beyond that.
So yeah, as an average most toons took about ten years to complete Kindergarten - end of high school.
Then a few of them took college courses, which lead to them getting degrees, which led to a couple of them getting teaching degrees. The majority of the LT's you see in Tiny Toons [excluding Foghorn, who decided he didn't want to be a teacher, and Elmer who took a undergraduate degree in law until 1992] did their teaching degrees from 1988 - 1992.
There's a couple of you who might had realised that they were filing Tiny Toons at the times and learning how to be parents at the same time. That was partly why they wanted to do it then, they realised that after Tiny Toons had finished the kid would need educating. Although the human teachers had been alright, they'd found it slightly difficult to cope and the LT's didn't want their kids to go through that particularly. Also, what's the point of building a school just to got rid of it after?
So here's the main schools: (After the toons gained teaching degrees)
Disney Elementary - Kindergarten- Grade 5.
Hanna-Barbara Middle School - Grade 6_8.
The Looniversity (the name stuck after the TV show) Grades 9-12.
So the Tiny Toons finished filming in 1992 and had it promptly explained to them that they would be attending school the next August [Tiny Toons were created in 1987, so were 6 by the end of filming.]
Toons don't do pre-school because there doesn't seem to be any point. Loads of Toons have coped without preschool for decades now, why would they start now?
So the TT's started Kindergarten at Disney Kindergarten, run by Snow White and helped out by Cinderella and Fairy Godmother. Kindergarten is the only school year where the toons have to do an entire year in it, the logic being they'll have longer to get adjusted to school if they're there for a year as opposed to three months.
Then it was decided which was the toon would go. Would they move upwards into Disney Elementary school, run by the Three Good Fairies? Or would they be taught by human professors? Or - the final option - they could be privately educated. [It's mainly royalty or the children of famous toons like Micky and Minnie that go down this option. The TT's were unusual in that all the LT's opted to send there kids to Disney Elementary with the hope it would help them make friends with other toons outside the LT bubble. Whether it did or not remains up for debate.
Anyway, they then go to Hanna-Barbera Middle School, which is then followed by the Looniversity. Now, despite what was shown in Tiny Toons, The Looniversity does not focus solely on Toon Physics and the like, the kids have to study the curriculum. They have options to take Toon Physics class if they wanted to, but they don't have to.
The Toons technically don't HAVE to finish High School, but they're strongly encouraged to. College is another matter, it's quite hard so only Toons who the adults know will stand a chance of passing are encouraged to do it.
Toontown University focuses primarily on The Performing Arts and Toon Physics. As well as those subjects, it offers Art, Physical Education, separate courses of Dance, Drama and Music and LAMDA.
If a Toon wants to study the likes of Maths, English and Science they can either be privately educated [A lot of the adult toons have ridiculous amounts of money due to there cartoons and the fact that until the 50's Toontown didn't exist and all there expenses were being covered by there respective directors/studios] or they could join one of the smaller colleges that specialised in what they want to do.
Push comes to shove, they find a Adult toon [over the actual age of 25] with a degree and try to mentor under them. This happens a lot.

Sorry it took a while, I've been dealing with several things, but here I am. I won't write too much notes, as I've prepared another post just for that. Thanks for reading and supporting this AU. Enjoy!
Prompt 7: Free
Chapter Ten
"I don't know if I can do this."
Hans sighed as he put down the small box on the wooden table, pushing it closer to the queen's direction.
From her seat behind the desk, Anna gave him a look. She raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"Would you care to elaborate?"
The former prince pinched the bridge of his nose, before turning to face the queen.
"I don't think she'll say yes." He replied, his hands clasped behind his back as he stood up straight. "We haven't been courting for that long, and the past we shared—"
"Yes, yes, I'm aware." Anna calmly interjected. Her hands were in her lap, eyes darting from the box towards him. "But you seemed so eager and determined a week ago, what changes?"
His jaw clenched, for the vivid memory of his dream last night came crashing at him, flooding his senses. It had been two months since the last time the nightmare occurred, about him, standing in the pool of blood on the slowly melting fjord, gazing at a pair of dull blue eyes that stared back at him. Elsa was dead, and he would become king like he wanted. The ice beneath him thawed, and he fell into the cold water. That was when he woke up, gasping for air, only to see Elsa, alive and murmuring sweet nothings to his ear. Realising that it was all just a dream, he pulled Elsa into his embrace, muttering how sorry he was.
It was a vision of what could've been, had he succeeded in ending the Eternal Winter by going for the source of magic. Even after years of punishment and redemption, the guilt was still there, eating him alive. Had it not been for Elsa's comfort, Hans wouldn't have known how to keep going.
"Hans?"
"I was a monster." He gulped. "Maybe I still am, knowing that some people still don't trust me. And for that, I know I'm not worthy of your sister's love, or anyone else's."
"You were." Anna grabbed the small box and a roll of parchment, then getting up from her chair. "Hans, you'd wronged me. I won't sugarcoat it. You left me to die in that room, you deceived me, and you were out to kill my sister. I admit, I took great pleasure when I punched you in the face."
The whole time, Hans didn't even flinch. He knew what he had done wrong, he was aware of that, and he would forever regret it.
"So I've noticed, even after all those dark months, some people still refused to look you in the eye, not wanting to acknowledge you as a person." She walked over and stopped before the tall redhead. "I did that too when you first came here after years. Elsa was the one insisting to lock you up, but I didn't see the point. There was something different about you."
When a roll of parchment was offered to him, Hans frowned. "Why are you doing this, Anna?"
"As much as I'm doing this for Elsa, I also believe you're not the same person who came to Arendelle with an ambition to become king." Anna spoke, her gaze showed kindness. "I can see that now, and it's not only because you won us war.
"That Prince Hans of The Southern Isles, who had a miserable childhood, dying to prove himself to his father and twelve older brothers, who attempted to marry into the throne to become king and was willing to commit a murder to fulfil such an ambition, was a failure. He wasn't born evil, yet he had failed to stop himself from being blinded by ambitions, and his tragic past doesn't excuse what he did." She paused, thrusting the roll onto his grasp. "But the man standing before me right now is not him. I trust you understand what I mean, Vice Admiral." Anna smiled as she mentioned his new title.
There was a beat, before Hans asked in disbelief, "They approved?" He unrolled it and began to read its content, green eyes were scanning the words over and over again.
"It was a long discussion with Captain Larsson, but apparently, some people already accept you as one of us, even Admiral Goran." She was relieved and worried at the same time. She knew Hans doubted himself, at least she had heard Elsa mentioned it to her a couple of times, but she also knew that the two of them—Elsa and Hans were madly in love with each other. All they needed was a little push.
"Hans," Anna called, and immediately, his attention was on her.
"Thank you so much! I don't know what to say, this is," Hans beamed, "does Elsa know?"
"Not yet." The strawberry blonde smiled. "I figured you'll be the one telling her, as planned."
Realisation began to sink in and he pressed his lips in a tight line. "Right."
"You're doubting yourself, aren't you?" The queen studied him closely. "I see how you look at my sister, and how she looks back at you. I know Elsa, and I've never seen her being this happy—different kind of happy. You might not notice it, but she is glowing whenever she is with you. She cares about you, and I know you care about her, a lot, I may add."
"Do you really think so?"
Anna rolled her eyes in a playful manner. "I know so!" She pressed the small box gently on his hand, and gave him a little push. "Now go and propose to my sister. You already have my blessing, and that means you have one less thing to worry about."
The gesture from his, hopefully, future sister in law brought a smile on his face. Hans glanced at her, feeling grateful for her kindness. He firmly held the box in his right hand. The queen was no longer that naive little princess, who would marry a man she just met because she was desperate for love. She had grown into a compassionate and caring Queen of Arendelle, whose prosperous reign was equal to her predecessor, her sister. Whether it was motherhood or her kind nature, he didn't know.
"Thank you, Anna." Hans didn't know if hugging the queen was the best move, so he went to shake her hand. But Anna, sensing his hesitation, pulled him in a quick hug.
"No, thank Elsa." She said, holding him by his shoulders. "I might be the one who opened the door, but she was the one who let you in."
The former prince nodded. The sisters' kindness was obviously contagious, and it was a part of several reasons why he wanted to change for the better.
"But," Anna said, her tone turned dramatically, "if you hurt my sister, I won't hesitate to punch you in the face, again, and I'll make sure that your nose wouldn't be the only thing that's broken."
Hans gulped. Of course he knew better than causing the Snow Queen any pain. He nodded.
"Now, go!" Anna smiled, pushing him towards the door. "You have a date to attend. Also, it's a perfect place for a date in this castle, so might as well, not spoil it."
"Okay, okay."
"Oh, and Hans?" Just when he was about to close the door, she added, "welcome to the family."
Hans couldn't stop smiling. A sudden surge of confidence boosted through him, as he made his way towards Elsa's room. With a ring in his pocket, a bouquet of her favourite flowers and a new dress for her in his grasp, he began to think of how their day would proceed. If Anna was right, and Elsa said yes, Hans would be the luckiest man alive, he knew that for sure. Standing before the wooden door, he composed himself. As he turned the bronze handle, he heard voices talking.
"Oh, I don't know what he is planning, but I heard him talking to Anna about dresses and flowers." It was Olaf. "I hope he is not planning something bad."
Hans was frozen on the spot. Did the snowman think that he had a bad intention towards Elsa? He knew Olaf was probably not making any sense, but it was enough to make him think of the worst.
Elsa chuckled. "Olaf, why would he plan something bad with dresses and flowers? It sounds like something romantic, but I can be wrong."
It was a relief, but gone was the confidence he brought along as the next question came up.
"You said he had a nightmare, Elsa, what was that about?"
There was a silence, thick and hostile, from where he was standing. Doubts began to cloud his mind, as he wondered what she might be thinking. Not wanting to wait any longer, he pushed the door open.
Her beautiful smile was the first thing that greeted him. Still dressed in her nightgown, Elsa looked radiant, as she sat on the bed with a breakfast tray in her lap. Olaf beamed and waved at him.
"I wish they would allow me to join you for breakfast, since I'm feeling much better now." Elsa sighed when she saw him walk over. "What do you have there?"
Hans flashed her a smile, settling the neatly folded dress over the chair nearby and put the flowers in her grasp, before leaning in to kiss her lips.
"Presents." He let out, sitting on the bed next to her.
Olaf nudged her, "See? I told you!" The snowman then collected her tray, before getting back on his feet. "I think I'll leave you both to it. See you later!"
Once the bedroom door was closed, Hans put his hand on her thigh and squeezed it lightly. At the gesture, she let out a giggle, before shoving his hand off. "Hans, no!" She smiled gently, cradling the bouquet close to her chest. "Thank you." Fondly, Elsa admired the bouquet, inhaling the familiar scent. "It's lovely."
"I'm actually planning something for the both of us." He stated, tucking her loose blonde strands behind her ear.
Eagerly, her blue eyes widened with interest. "Really, what is it? Are we going to go sailing?"
Sailing was his previous plan, indeed, but since Elsa was only recovering from her fever, Hans decided that they should stay in. He didn't wish to cause her any more harm than he already did, although the rising temperature wasn't exactly his doing. Besides, if Elsa said yes to a lifetime with him, it means that they would sail forever in holy matrimony.
"You'll see," was all his reply.
Moments later, Elsa and Hans were standing on the balcony at the back of the castle, facing the perfect view of the open sea. Anna was right, Hans thought, it was a perfect place for a date. A table for two was set up, with cakes, a teapot, two cups, and some boxes of chocolate were served on the table. A bouquet of heathers was placed in the middle.
Elsa could recall how many times she would go there in between meetings when she was queen, just to allow herself to think. She loved the view, the blueness of the ocean, and the gentle caress of the wind, they offered her comfort. It was rather quiet, even during the day, but at least she wasn't alone this time.
Hans held her close from behind, one hand was holding the railing, and the other was around her torso. His mind wandered back to the conversation he had with Anna. He would never forget her generosity in giving him the chance to prove himself that he was capable of growth—the chance not everyone would grant him. She allowed him to stay in Arendelle, to serve in the navy, so he could be close to the love of his life, despite the dark past they shared. Then he began to think of Elsa's silence when the topic about his nightmare was brought up.
"You're quiet." Elsa stirred in his embrace and turned to face him. "What are you thinking about?"
"Things." He said, before letting out a sigh. "I'm sorry, Elsa, I shouldn't have ruined it for you. We can have some tea and chocolates."
Hans was about to move to the table, when Elsa stopped him. "You didn't ruin anything at all. I was only wondering why you were quiet." She paused, eyes were never leaving his. "Would you like to talk about what's troubling you?"
"What makes you think it's troubling me?" It was a little defensive on his part.
Elsa frowned. "Your reaction right now is what." She blinked. "Is it your nightmare?"
She wondered what made him act so defensive. The past few days, Elsa noticed how he had been acting strange, and she was under the impression that he was hiding something, but what? That couldn't have had anything to do with the recurring nightmare, could it?
"Hans?"
Ignoring her, the redhead let go of her hand, before turning around. He pulled out a box from his pocket, admiring the diamond ring inside. Oh, how he wished everything was easier for him.
"You've been hiding something." It was loud and clear in his ear. "What is it?"
"Nothing." He muttered, still with his back facing her. Putting the box back into his pocket, Hans looked back.
Thoughts were running through her head, and some of them weren't pretty. "Are you doubting us?"
"It's not that." Hans shook his head. The frown on his face deepened.
Elsa, growing frustrated as the second passed, looked away. Her cheeks were flushing as anger began to build up. "I can't believe you don't even trust me, especially with whatever it is you're hiding."
"It's not that simple, Elsa." He took a deep breath, rubbing his face in an equal frustration. "You don't understand."
"Then make me!" Elsa pressed, taking a step closer.
Her fingertips were cold, as she tried to contain her powers from exploding. She breathed heavily, the storm in her chest was raging, but there was something in his emerald eyes—remorseful and sincere—as she held his gaze. Closing her eyes, Elsa tried to calm her mind. Anger was never a solution, and one of them should hold their ground if they wanted to carry on with the conversation. Perhaps what he needed was comfort.
"Hans," The former queen called, after another minute passed with silence. She looked up, staring at him with her blue eyes, while holding one hand out. "Come here."
When Hans took her hand, Elsa immediately pulled him into an embrace. She wounded her arms around his torso, resting her cheek against his shoulder. Gently, he returned the gesture and pressed a kiss on her temple. Nothing could top the feeling of holding each other close, getting lost in the comfort.
Closing his eyes, Hans breathed in her scent. Maybe asking her wouldn't hurt, he thought, and he shouldn't be selfish if he wanted to take their relationship one step ahead. And with a determination, he let out, "Kaere."
A beat.
"Yes?"
He took a deep breath, still holding her hand. "I need to tell you something."
Taking one step back, his knee bended slightly, and Elsa tried to stifle a gasp. Is he going to propose? She thought, is this what he has been hiding from me? Her pulse quickened, anticipating what was about to come. Elsa didn't see that coming, but for some reason, she was glad.
The former queen was no fool, and she frowned when she saw him stand up straight. She put two and two together, and realised that he had been doubting his own self. She knew about his nightmare, and how remorseful he had been. To see him looking unsure brought a pang on her chest. She couldn't wait any longer.
"Marry me." Elsa blurted out.
Stunned. Her words got him frozen on the spot. Hans stood there, dumbfounded. Marry me. Those words echoed in his mind, and he had to blink to make sure that he wasn't dreaming. Did she just—
"Hans?" She whispered, taking a step closer to cradle his head. "Are you—
But before she could continue, Hans captured her lips with his. Gone was the hesitation, the doubts that had been haunting him, as he got lost in the passion. Her lips were firmly pressed against his, as if she tried to give him a proper reassurance. He held her close by the waist, as he deepened the kiss, savouring the taste of her tongue, before they pulled away.
"Is that a yes?" She asked breathlessly, smiling ear to ear, pressing her forehead against his.
"Kaere," Hans couldn't contain the joy. He let go of her waist, and held her hand. With a surge of confidence, he got down on one knee. "Allow me to do it properly."
He pulled out the small diamond ring and held it up.
"Elsa," he began, "I know I'm not worthy of your love," seeing the look of disapproval on her face, Hans gave her hand a gentle tug, "hear me out, please?"
"Okay." Her heart swelled inside her ribcage, and warmth overflowing in her body. She nodded.
"I know I'm not worthy of your love," he repeated, "forgiveness, even a second chance. What I've done in the past is unforgivable, and I'm accepting that.
"But you, Elsa, you have given me the chance to get to know you, and I'm grateful for that. Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and you are the kindest people I know. You have shown me kindness, and for that, I'm forever grateful. I love you, min Kaere, and nothing will ever change that. I've never felt this way before, and you don't know how hard it was to deny it. Because loving you feels so right, but also wrong at the same time. Our union is frowned upon because of our past, but we've proved them wrong."
"Hans," she gasped. Her eyes were glassy with tears at his confession.
"I have nothing grand to offer, and I may be pushing my luck, but," he paused, looking at her with sincerity, "Elisabeth," he gently said, taking her by surprise at her given name. "Will you marry me?"
Her vision got blurry with tears as she stood there. It was too much for her, the love and joy that she felt was overwhelming, but in a good way.
"Yes." She nodded furiously. "God, yes!"
He slid the ring on her finger, and got up to pull her into his arms. He spun her around, burying his face in the crook of her neck. There were sparks in his chest when he heard her giggles, and realisation began to sink in. They're engaged.
"I love you." He put her down, so they were standing face to face. One hand cradled her head, with his thumb rubbing her cheek gently. "I love you so much."
Elsa smiled, giving into his touch. "And I love you too, so very much." She covered his hand with hers, as she pressed a gentle kiss on the heel of his palm. "Don't ever doubt yourself, okay? You are worthy."
Hans nodded slowly. "Forgive me."
"It's okay." Elsa nuzzled his nose. "There's nothing to forgive."
"There's also another thing." He began.
Elsa tilted her head with interest. "Yes?"
"I'm staying." Hans smiled. "This time for good."
"Hans, what?" With her mouth agape, she gazed into his emerald eyes, searching for any hint of mischief, and when she couldn't find any, she blinked. "I don't understand."
He led her to a chair nearby, and helped her sit, before seating himself next to her. Taking her hand in his, Hans pressed his lips over the knuckles.
"So, I might have asked Anna a favour just about last week. I was applying for a vacant spot in the Arendellian Navy."
It did not take her long to guess. "The Vice Admiral?"
The redhead nodded. "Yes."
"And you got it?" This time, she was smiling.
"I did."
Elsa didn't know what to say. The news was another thing she didn't expect to hear, and it seemed as if her day couldn't get any better.
"It's," the former queen paused, "wonderful! I'm so happy for you, truly."
She cupped his face and showered him with kisses, from his forehead to his temple, then his nose, and down to his lips. Wrapping her arms around his neck, Elsa settled on his lap. She nuzzled the crook of his neck as he held her close.
"I'm so glad to have you home, Hans." She murmured.
"Home?"
Elsa nodded, looking up to him, fondly. "You're here now with me. We are home."
Home. He liked the ring of it. Elsa had been his safe haven, and then she was his home. In the end, things were working out just fine, and they were both alright.
"Thank you, Elsa."
"Hmm?" She eyed the new accessory on her ring finger with a smile, before darting her attention back to him. "For what?"
Hans felt his heart swell. He pressed another kiss on her temple. "For letting me in, and giving me a second chance." And he would be forever grateful for that.
Quietly, Elsa settled back in his embrace. Her blue eyes were gazing far ahead at the open sea. Once in a while, she stole glances at the symbol of their union, and she realised that the past few days they spent under the sun were leading up to that very moment. How their story went as the time passed, she would treasure that, and despite the rocky path they had to take to get there, Elsa regretted nothing.
Suddenly the future didn't seem to be uncertain. Hans is staying, and we're getting married, Elsa told herself. That steadiness, something to hold onto, was all she needed. And forever with him, she couldn't wait to spend.
END.

S08E01
Ok so here's where D&D suck. They try to create an "open to interpretation" kind of scenario with most female characters, arya is definitely there but nobody is given a hard time over it more than Daenerys. They never explain or make her explain the why's & how's, because they want daenerys to be the "bad ass dragon queen whose impulse has given the show it's many epic cinematic moments"
GRRM does something quite similar too. He writes characters as faulted as human beings are supposed to be, he likes to conflict a reader's mind in the most tiring way possible. He said afterall he believes Faulkner's words "The only thing worth writing about is the human heart in conflict with itself".
He makes his character do an action/say some words that more or likely they HAD to. But then he introduces the consequences of the said action/words while at the same time he gives a reason & understanding of why such a hard decision was made/tough words were used. GRRM creates conflict in such a way that it is upto YOU. The Reader, to decide for themselves what they make of the situation. Which ultimately means it's only one's assumption to choose to believe the character was wrong because you choose to ignore the reason behind their action/words. While the one's who support the character chooses to accept the character not only with the reason behind the action/words but also with the consequences of it.
Your "hate" towards daenerys is just YOUR assumption, your villainization of daenerys is just YOUR assumption, your degradation of daenerys's efforts & experiences is just YOUR assumption. Not the actual story definitely not the author's intent.
The scene where daenerys takes the unsullied is the most bad-ass, jaw dropping & inspiring scene centered on a female character ever. When it dropped I remember GA being taken by how "bad-ass" she is. But now I see haters using Astaphor as a "brutality" condoned by daenerys. All because the show never cared to reflect upon a deeper more sympathetic thought process behind doing what she did. While tge book reading haters like I said above choose to ignore her reason & only care about the consequences.
Tv Show: "we never really get this sense .. of her capacity for cruelty. They are surrounded by people who are terrible people but haven't done anything to her personally. It's interesting to me how the sphere of her empathy widens the sphere of her cruelty widens as well."
-Dan Weiss ( X )
Books:
"I was alone for a long time, Jorah. All alone but for my brother. I was such a small scared thing. Viserys should have protected me, but instead he hurt me and scared me worse. He shouldn't have done that. He wasn't just my brother, he was my king. Why do the gods make kings and queens, if not to protect the ones who can't protect themselves?"
"Some kings make themselves. Robert did."
"He was no true king," Dany said scornfully. "He did no justice. Justice . . . that's what kings are for."
– Daenerys III ASOS
The show never showed this side of daenerys's story GRRM is literally giving a reason behind what she is doing at Astaphor while in the future books you get the consequences of those actions, THAT'S HOW YOU CREATE AN INTERNAL CONFLICT IN A READER (&/or) VIEWER.
What D&D do with dany all the time is leave her reasons behind & only show her actions & the consequences. Which over time lead everyone to believe she is descending into some form of madness, that she is an entitled power hungry monarch & that she is actually being a villain! Ignoring the fact that D&D draw inspiration for the show from a book series whose author treats all of his characters in a conflicting manner.
Something like that happened in s08e01. Am not talking about the s@nsa vs daenerys situation. I think it's a call back to Alaric Stark & Queen Alysanne Targaryen's relations. Alaric Stark was known to be cold & hard towards Queen Alysanne at first but eventually softened towards her in time being as he got to know her more. S@nsa stans don't need a reason to hate on daenerys so this storyline was like a gift to them to continue that petty hate.
No matter what their relationship prospers into I have to say s@nsa was being unnecessarily rude towards daenerys. Alaric Stark actually had a reason to be cold towards the Targaryens, his brother died defending the wall against a mutiny caused by some prisoners King Jaehaerys had sent to the wall. But there is nothing that daenerys did to harm the Starks?! S@nsa herself has no reason to hold a grudge towards daenerys or the Targaryens. The northern lords are being a bunch of ignorant fucks still dwelling on the politics of the past that which a "smart" person would overlook given the state of emergency they are in. Instead s@nsa is using that ignorance to incite more segregation in Winterfell. Knowing well that the wall was breached she is treating the dragons as a burden when girl! they are your best defence against the undead one that Night King controls. S@nsa might be smart but right now she is not acting smart!
Regarding the matter of food, I don't think s@nsa understands the level of danger that the oncoming army of the dead possesses against the living. Alaric Stark was judgemental of Queen Alysanne & the party that travelled with her because she wasn't necessarily there to defend Winterfell against anything, she was there on one of the many royal progression's that the king & queen did all over the kingdoms. But daenerys isn't here on some progress she is here to stand her armies beside the North men & Knights of the Vale in the fight. It is S@nsa's duty as the Lady of Winterfell to arrange for the food & other commodities for perhaps the greatest alliance northerners have.
I don't much tread into the doylism aspect of things but the way s@nsa said that she didn't account for the dothraki & the unsullied did she mean she was expecting Jon to die in the south? Because there was only two ways Jon's southern trip would go he might return with allies hence more mouths to feed or he might die. That sure don't sound all that smart of a deduction though!
When daenerys said "whatever they want" she defended her children reminds me of how everyone used to tell the direwolves don't belong inside the castle walls but out in the wild but the stark kids defended them anyways. Daenerys did the same thing too she defended her magical wild beasts who, just like the direwolves are dangerous & different.
Daenerys expecting respect from sansa isn't entitlement, Jon is S@nsa's king & daenerys is Jon's Queen. By that it is a certain decency to give daenerys that respect. In inside the episode video David nutter & Sophie say that s@nsa wants daenerys to know that this is HER home??! I mean daenerys doesn't want her home she wants your respect, she has a home it's called Dragonstone!
“No man has ever died from bending his knee,” her father had once told her.
“He who kneels may rise again, blade in hand. He who will not kneel stays dead, stiff legs and all.”
-the Kings Prize ADWD
I just can't wait until s@nsa softens upto daenerys like Alaric did towards Alysanne. So people can actually focus on other more important things in the storyline.
Then about the reaction Sam had when he learnt about his father & brother's death.. THAT WAS ABSURD. He clearly wasn't that sad when he learned of randyll's death but his brother's death affected him most. Which reminds me of a quote..
He wondered whether Dickon would shed a tear for his brother who died in the snow, somewhere off beyond the edge of the world. Why should he? A coward’s not worth weeping over.
-Samwell I, ASOS.
Do it now. Stop crying and fight, you baby. Fight, craven. It was his father he heard, it was Alliser Thorne, it was his brother Dickon and the boy Rast.
Craven, craven, craven. He giggled hysterically, wondering if they would make a wight of him, a huge fat white wight always tripping over its own dead feet.
Do it, Sam. Was that Jon, now? Jon was dead. You can do it, you can, just do it.
-Samwell I, ASOS.
Sam remembers his brother in the books with the likes of Ser Alliser Thorne & Rast. It is understandable that his heart might be broken to listen of his brothers death but to do what he did especially to the last remaining family of his mentor, Maester Aemon  Who treated him 1000x times better than both his father & brother.. Maester Aemon felt so passionately about Daenerys & he only trusted that information to Sam.
"No one ever looked for a girl," he said. "It was a prince that was promised, not a princess. Rhaegar, I thought... What fools we were, who thought ourselves so wise! The error crept in from the translation. Dragons are neither male nor female, Barth saw the truth of that, but now one and now the other, as changeable as flame. The language misled us all for a thousand years. Daenerys is the one, born amidst salt and smoke. The dragons prove it." Just talking of her seemed to make him stronger. "I must go to her. I must."
-Maester Aemon, Samwell IV, AFFC.
Daenerys is our hope. Tell them that, at the citadel. Make them listen. They must send her a Maester. Daenerys must be counseled, taught, protected."
-Maester Aemon, Samwell IV, AFFC.
Alleras stepped up next to sam. "Aemon would've gone to her if he had the strength. He wanted us to send a Maester to her, to counsel her & protect her & fetch her safely home." "Did he?" Archmaester marwyn shrugged. "Perhaps it's good that he died before he got to oldtown. Elsewise the grey sheep might have had to kill him, and that would have made the poor old dears wring with wrinkled hands." "Kill him?" Sam said, shocked. "Why?" "If I tell you they may kill you too" marwyn smiled a ghastly smile the juice of the sourleaf running red between his teeth.
-Samwell V, AFFC.
It is so awful that Sam has infact put the last two family members of Maester Aemon's blood against each other. He is treating Daenerys the way he treated Alliser Thorne when Sam realised if Ser Alliser becomes the Lord Commander his life would be hell so he literally uses Jon & raises him to be a Lord Commander in the hind sight to protect himself. When Jon actually (in the books) decides to fight for Winterfell & take stannis's offer.
Instead, he blamed Jon Snow and wondered when Jon’s heart had turned to stone. Once he asked Maester Aemon that very question, when Gilly was down at the canal fetching water for them. “When you raised him up to be the lord commander,” the old man answered.
-Maester Aemon, Samwell III, AFFC
“Dragons,” Aemon whispered. “The grief and glory of my House, they were.”
- Maester Aemon, Samwell III, AFFC
Not only was Sam's reaction a little over the top but it was wrong how he channeled it upon Jon as well. He ruined the most important revelation of Jon's life because of, again, himself. Jon also didn't seem to care about the fact that daenerys is related to her (lmao) but was more taken aback by Sam suggesting him treason against daenerys.
I do not want to play the oathbreaker, even for good reason.
- Jon VIII, ACOK.
Jon Snow flexed the fingers of his sword hand, remembering all he’d lost. Sam, you sweet fat fool, you played me a cruel jape when you made me lord commander. A lord commander has no friends.
-Jon X, ADWD.
"I had a frightening dream last night, m'lord," Dolorous Edd confessed. "You were my steward, fetching my food & cleaning up my leaving. I was Lord Commander, with never a moment's peace." Jon did not smile. "Your nightmare, my life."
-Jon VI, ADWD.
Daenerys: "We all enjoy what we're good at" Jon: "I don't!"
-GOT, s07e03.
Jon doesn't want to have power for the sake of power. Over & over again in the books & in the show he made it clear he did what he did to fight the Army of the Dead not for a crown.
Jon: "Do you think we can beat the Army of the Dead without her? I fought them sansa twice, you want to worry about who holds what title I am telling you it doesn't matter. Without her we don't stand a chance.. Do you have any Faith in me at all?
Sansa: you know I do.
Jon: she'll be a good queen, for all of us. She's not her father.
Sansa: no, she's much prettier .... Did you bend the knee to save the North or because you love her?
-GOT s08e01
There are two reasons why anyone would bend the knee.
•Out of fear, fear of cruelty, collapse or death.
•Out of love & respect & trust.
Jon bent the knee to daenerys for the latter, that scene with sansa & Jon was cut off annoyingly leaving the argument hanging but there was more than just love, yes Love is there My god if this isn't what every jonerys stan had been screaming since s07 ended. But there was more than love, there was respect for letting him mine the dragonglass regardless of no existing alliance, there is also trust when daenerys actually not only let him go beyond the wall but also flew all the way there, solidifying the trust he placed in her to come to his aid without an alliance in place.
Jon glanced over his shoulder. The shadow was there, just as she had said, etched in moonlight against the wall. A girl in grey on a dying horse, he thought. Coming here, to you. Arya. He turned back to the Red priestess. Jon could feel her warmth. She has power. The thought came unbidden, seizing him with iron teeth, but this was not a woman he cared to be indebted to, not even for his little sister.
-Jon IV, ADWD.
But instead he chose to be indebted to daenerys by asking for her help without giving her anything in return. Because he trusts her to be a good, reliable Queen & she won his trust.
Sam: "Don't you know?
Jon: know what?
Sam: Daenerys, she executed my father & brother. They were her prisoners.
Jon: ......
Sam: she didn't tell you
Jon: I'm so sorry. We need to end this war.
Sam: would you have done it?
Jon: I have executed men who disobeyed me.
Sam: you've also spared men thousands of Wildlings when they refused to kneel.
Jon: I wasn't a king.
Sam: but you were you've always been. Jon: I gave her my crown Sam. I've bent the knee am not King in the North anymore.
Sam: Am not talking about the king in the north am talking about the king of the bloody seven kingdoms.
.......
your mother was Lyanna Stark your father, your real father was Rhaegar Targaryen. You've never been a Bastard you are Aegon Targaryen true heir to the iron throne.
.............
You're the true king, Aegon Targaryen, sixth of his name, protector of the realm, all of it.
Jon: Daenerys is our Queen.
Sam: she shouldn't be.
Jon: it's treason.
Sam: it's the truth. You gave up your crown to save your people would she do the same?
She literally did the very thing in s07e06 when she left dragonstone with Drogon, Rhaegal & Viserion to rescue Jon.
Tyrion: "You cant win the throne if you're dead. You cant break the wheel if you're dead."
Daenerys: "So what would you have me do?"
Tyrion: Nothing. Sometimes nothing is the hardest thing to do. If you die we're all lost everyone, everything!"
Daenerys: "You told me to do nothing once before & i lostened to you ... am not doing nothing again."
There are moments in the story both in books & show where we do undeniably see daenerys put the people or her children ahead of her crown.
That morning she summoned her captains and commanders to the garden, rather than descending to the audience chamber. "Aegon the Conqueror brought fire and blood to Westeros, but afterward he gave them peace, prosperity, and justice. But all I have brought to Slaver's Bay is death and ruin. I have been more khal than queen, smashing and plundering, then moving on."
"You have brought freedom as well," Missandei pointed out.
"Freedom to starve?" asked Dany sharply. "Freedom to die? Am I a dragon, or a harpy?" Am I mad? Do I have the taint?
"A dragon," Ser Barristan said with certainty. "Meereen is not Westeros, Your Grace."
"But how can I rule seven kingdoms if I cannot rule a single city?" He had no answer to that. Dany turned away from them, to gaze out over the city once again. "My children need time to heal and learn. My dragons need time to grow and test their wings. And I need the same. I will not let this city go the way of Astapor. I will not let the harpy of Yunkai chain up those I've freed all over again." She turned back to look at their faces. "I will not march."
"What will you do then, Khaleesi?" asked Rakharo.
"Stay," she said. "Rule. And be a queen."
– Daenerys VI, ASOS.
Not that she must or she needs to give up her crown for Jon or anyone so Sam can be convinced with her being a good queen. Fuck that! Sam is being impulsive here (something that daenerys is blamed of, turns out everyone does it) she has on multiple occasions put her people first. Sam hopefully learns it in time because his knows I don't want him to be the A-hole he acted like..
If she had been some ordinary woman, she would gladly have spent her whole life touching Daario, tracing his scars and making him tell her how he’d come by every one. I would give up my crown if he asked it of me, Dany thought … but he had not asked it, and never would. Daario might whisper words of love when the two of them were as one, but she knew it was the dragon queen he loved. If I gave up my crown, he would not want me. Besides, kings who lost their crowns oft lost their heads as well, and she could see no reason why it would be any different for a queen.
-Daenerys VII, ADWD.
A queen belongs not to herself but to her people.
– Daenerys V, ADWD.
The red priests believed in two gods, she had heard, but two who were eternally at war. Dany liked that even less. She would not want to be eternally at war.
- Daenerys V, ASOS.
"We will have it all back someday, sweet sister," he would promise her. Sometimes his hands shook when he talked about it. "The jewels and the silks, Dragonstone and King's Landing, the Iron Throne and the Seven Kingdoms, all they have taken from us, we will have it back." Viserys lived for that day. All that Daenerys wanted back was the big house with the red door, the lemon tree outside her window, the childhood she had never known.
- Daenerys I, AGOT.
She did take a dozen flasks of scented oils, the perfumes of her childhood; she had only to close her eyes and sniff them and she could see the big house with the red door once more.
- Daenerys VI, AGOT.
"He died for me." Dany clutched her lion pelt to her chest. Underneath, a sheer white linen tunic covered her to midthigh. She had been dreaming of a house with a red door when Missandei woke her. There had been no time to dress.
- Daenerys I, ADWD.
"Is it Daario? What's happened?" In her dream they had been man and wife, simple folk who lived a simple life in a tall stone house with a red door. In her dream he had been kissing her all over—her mouth, her neck, her breasts.
-Daenerys II, ADWD.
Dany had never known a home. In Braavos, there had been a house with a red door, but that was all.
-Daenerys III, ADWD.
Soon Dany was as clean as she was ever going to be. She pushed herself to her feet, splashing softly. Water ran down her legs and beaded on her breasts. The sun was climbing up the sky, and her people would soon be gathering. She would rather have drifted in the fragrant pool all day, eating iced fruit off silver trays and dreaming of a house with a red door, but a queen belongs to her people, not to herself.
- Daenerys IX, ADWD.
Isn't it amazing how the very episode in which Sam raises the question "will she give up her crown?" is the very episode where daenerys said this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She obviously didn't feel at home neither at Dragonstone nor at Winterfell. This romantic moment is the closest to a house with the red door this show has ever done.
Also notice how throughout the episode whenever Jon is speaking to others he refers to daenerys as Queen. But when he is alone with her by that waterfall he refers to her as "a southern girl". Jon loves the girl daenerys not "the floppy ears" of the dragon queen that she wears..
"So we pray. I want to plant my olive trees and see them fruit." Does it matter that Hizdahr's kisses do not please me? Peace will please me. Am I a queen or just a woman?
- Daenerys VII, ADWD.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So the point is neither does it make sense for Jon to turn against daenerys all of a sudden for something like a title that he himself just said doesn't matter to him. Given that the third episode is where the battle for dawn is supposed to take place. Iron throne is not on Jon's mind. Plus I don't think Daenerys will be anything but shocked, confused yet happy to find a family member, none other than the son of her elder brother whom she idolizes, she is in love with Jon as he is with her!
A crown should not sit easy on the head. One of her royal forebears had said that, once. Some Aegon, but which one? Five Aegons had ruled the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. There would have been a sixth, but the Usurper’s dogs had murdered her brother’s son when he was still a babe at the breast. If he had lived, I might have married him.
-Daenerys I, ADWD.
Ser Davos is already planning a better solution to all this. A just woman & an honorable man to probably get married!
Now I need Sam to somehow learn more & more about who daenerys actually is.

Kat the bullied- hi kaaaat!Sorry if I tend not to laugh at your jokes just admit it, it's not anywhere near funny. Just kidding, thank you for being a good friend to me though. You're a great person.
Joanna Mae!-our vice president, grow up-like literally, if there's anyway to help let me know hahaha joke lang just stay like this, you're fine this way.
Now I've described each of them. You might or might not be that lucky to actually stay under their unfading light but these stars beside me are the reasons my sky isn't as dark as it used to be.
