We have returned to The Vampire Diaries after taking a break between seasons 2 and 3 to watch Dead Boy Detectives and you can really tell that the production considers Damon a more legitimate love interest this season, rather than just a secondary love interest/loser of the love triangle, because they've put extra effort into making him particularly attractive.
