Today I learned many things
1) while I knew Taylor Swift was regarded by some as a queer icon I don't understand why and can't find anything about her being queer
2) I don't know what slay and serve means but that's alright. People are unwilling to explain which is also alright
3) it is basically impossible to find out because of the ways aave as a language gets made invisible. All explanations that could exist are hidden behind walls of explanation why aave shouldn't be used, is not slang, how it got appropriated by white folk, etc. All things I already knew, just wish you could go beyond that and maybe learn which terms you (I) use are aave and what they originally meant. Because like I can't do anything except wait for someone to point it out when I do
Finding an aave dictionary is also a futile task, for the reasons above and because it probably just doesn't exist. I know "ok" is aave for example but it's really very few words
3.5) a lot of it comes from ballroom culture and is connected to the queer community
4) swifties know on average less about aave than me and say slay and serve a lot, black people hate that they are like this
5) swifties are racist and homophobic at the least
6) swifties don't care about misgendering and transphobia but they're not alone
#notallswifties#but who cares if it's not all#rhetoric like this just reminds me of people who go like ''but many Germans had no choice but to collaborate with the nazis!!!"#''they're basically victims as well'' wtf did you just say. yo you didn't just defends nazis (<- germans will pretend they actually didnt)#this is not about taylor swift. like ts is so unassuming we could just not talk about her. it's her fans and the industry tho#just like with kpop. you can't criticize the structures companies and industry without getting mauled for hating the artists#which like no one does. also the k pop industry stole from black artists#in a similar way to Elvis Presley. black music is good yes but can't have black ppl making and selling it
