season 1-3 upin & ipin are called "upin & ipin zaman majapahit" .I think it's cute
#it's a reference to how east asian as a whole used to be called the majapahit empire#that includes malaysia i.e. the country upin & ipin originate from#that show during its airing of season 1 to 3 and the first movie was malaysia's national pride#it's so funny#the jokes would probably fall flat for those who aren't verse in malay culture#I feel like learning malay itself won't cut it#you need to be familiar with how malay people talk with it#accent#expression#those kind of stuff#it's muslim leaning#but when has that ever stop people from enjoying cartoons?#we all watch Christmas specials#I feel like people can handle a little bit of malay muslim culture here and there#I promise you it's has none of the political stuff#just kampung (village) people living their life and just so happened to be muslim#upin & ipin#upin and ipin#upin ipin#qishylia types
