I think Willo is genuine, I think most things about Ben are really surprising to him including the wealth. He knew Ben had money based on the way he dressed at work and his causal mentions of properties he owns and his fancy car and he originally assumed that Ben just had a really rich partner before learning he was single. Willo is surprised to learn, after some digging, that Ben is rich-rich and feels kind of stupid for being surprised. All the signs were there.

I think Wilo definitely grew up better off than KT did but with nowhere near as well off as Dec, Leo, Ben or Kai. I'm curious how Willo fits in with the group when he and Ben get together (Also curious as to Kai fits in when he met KT, Leo and Ben for the first time and how those relationships progressed)
