First Look At 'Jurassic World: Chaos Theory
The first trailer for ‘Jurassic World: Chaos Theory’ has arrived - and if this is anything to go by, then the sequel to Camp Cretaceous looks set to be the post-Fallen Kingdom adventure many of us have been craving since the release of Jurassic World Dominion. Check out the first trailer below:
We are so excited to see that the queen of Nublar makes her return in the series - in a sequence which appears incredibly similar to the scene we see at the drive-thru theatre in Jurassic World Dominion. Camp Cretaceous didn’t shy away from recreating moments from Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom in it’s third season - so perhaps we will see that again in this series! We have to admit that the Rex looks great here - with the same render we’ve come to know and love from Dreamwork’s last outing in the Jurassic universe.
Even more exciting is the inclusion of a grown-up Darius Bowman - who now appears to be out in the wild hunting down the dinosaurs following the conclusion of Camp Cretaceous. The return of the main character from the prior series implies that we may once again see the ‘Nublar Six’ reunited - something which will be a treat for fans of the original show. We’re curious to see where Darius’s story factors into the wider universe in this series. Will he be working with the US Fish and Wildlife service? Or perhaps he is likely to cross paths with Claire Dearing? Only time will tell.
For now, what we can say is that it feels fantastic to have new Jurassic on the horizon - and we can’t wait to see what the animated series entails. If this can get back to the more mature world-building which we saw in the third series of Camp Cretaceous, then we think that fans will be in for a treat when the show debuts in 2024.
Are you excited for Jurassic World Chaos Theory? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, and stay tuned to The Jurassic Park Podcast for all the latest news on the upcoming animated series.
Huge thanks to Swrve for sharing this trailer.

Thanks for the tag, @supremechancellorrex!
Let's do this!
Favorite Colour: It depends on the day. Honestly, it varies. But for the most part, it's dark blue or black.
Currently Reading: "The Adventure Zone" graphic novel series based on the "Adventure Zone" podcast by the McElroys. It's three brothers and their father all playing D&D together and it is some of the funniest shit. I highly recommend it for anyone who likes D&D, this is the first episode of the first campaign, it's amazing.
Last Song: "Can't Fight This Feeling" by REO Speedwagon. It makes me happy.
Currently Watching (series): Jurassic Park: Camp Cretaceous. I know it's a "kid's show", but I'm a total dino nerd and I love the show so much. I've watched it so many times, I love it.
Currently Watching (movies): Jurassic Park/Jurassic World franchise. I love them all so much. I still have the original three Jurassic Park films on VHS (yes, I still have VHS tapes and a player for them).
Current Obsession: Doing photoshoots and editing the pics through AI generators to create fun and whacky results. My phone is overflowing with edits.
Currently Working On: Multiple fics at once. I keep getting distracted from working on my main clone wars fic, The Deviance, and instead I have started multiple other fics, including a Clone Wars Western AU and several shorts and other clone ships. I need serious help focusing.

9 People to Know Better (except I'm not tagging 9 people)
I don't normally do tag games, but I got tagged in this twice (by @jealous-kippen and @remmixx, my beloveds <3) so here I am! (also as I'm writing this out I am realizing that while both posts were titled the same way, it looks like they had different question prompts??? So I'm just gonna combine the two)
Favorite Color: Purple! Any shade will have my heart but I am partial to more red-toned purples. (PV, if that means anything to anyone who sees this other than me, you know who you are)
Currently Reading: Three things! In terms of actual books, I've been slowly making my way through the Riordanverse since my university did The Lightning Thief in my second year (first school in my state to do it once the rights were released!) since I somehow never got into Percy Jackson as a kid, and I'm currently on Son of Neptune. I'm also one like my third or fourth re-read of Eurydice by Sara Ruhl, since that's the play I'm designing the costumes for for my senior project. And in terms of fanfic, I woke up to a notification about this yesterday and Actually Screeched.
Last Song: Dial Drunk by Noah Kahan (ft. Post Malone), which was a bit of an accident. I use siri to request music while I'm driving and I asked for Dial Drunk and was singing along until I got jumpscared by the slight difference before Post Malone's verse. Although if you look at my spotify, the ROTPL album has been on repeat for weeks.
Currently Watching (Series): I've been hyperfixated on ROTPL and have watched it over a dozen times at this point, which is probably not healthy, so I put on NCIS last night for background noise while I ate dinner and accidentally watched like six episodes.
Currently Watching (Movie): Saw the Barbie movie the night before the actual opening with my coworkers (We don't cross picket lines people! I was not asked nor invited by any company, and I paid full price for my ticket. There's a one-screen theatre in the town where I'm doing summer stock, this relic from the 50's, and they were able to get access to the film a day early and did a special first come first serve premiere.) and we all sobbed the entire way through.
Current Obsession: Rise of the Pink Ladies. Full stop. I'd seen clips of it when it first aired in April but I was iffy on it in spite of how good it looked. Like most, I'm a little tired of reboots and remakes, and while I did clock Cynthia as being queer within two seconds, (I believe my exact words were "That's either a very butch lesbian or the eggiest egg to ever egg.") I was Convinced it was a queerbait situation. Plus I was nearing finals and didn't have time to get into a new show. But then Crushing Me was trending on tiktok and I realized this was not queerbait, so I put it on to have something playing while I packed for summer stock and it's been the only thing I can think about since mid May. It got me writing fanfic again for the first time in years, if that tells you anything. Speaking of,
Currently Working On: A follow-up to my previous fic, Steady, Steady! I wanted to have it up this week, but it is a behemoth. I'm a little over halfway through my plot outline and I'm at 10,441 words. Fun fact, this will be my longest single-chapter fic so far. Not just in the fandom, not just on AO3, but ever (so far!)
No-Pressure Tagging: @merely-a-player, @penguin-writes-books, @el-fandom-birb, @marley-barnes112, @isweartheyregayyourhonor, and @look-at-those-niceass-rocks (since I've already dragged you back to tumblr kicking and screaming)

Camp Cretaceous Season 5 Spoiler Review | The Jurassic Park Podcast
Hey everyone – and welcome to my in-depth Season 5 review of Camp Cretaceous here on The Jurassic Park Podcast! In this video we are holding back on none of the details from the newest season of the show – so make sure to avoid this article if you haven’t had the chance to catchup on Season 5 yet. With all of that said – let’s dive in!
The first thing I wanted to touch on in this article is the character growth – as this is something which I feel got the right treatment in the fifth season of the show. I love the fact that we finally get a relationship between Sammy and Yaz – exploring some of the intricacies that we can go through when we are discovering ourselves and our own identity. This was handled in an incredibly sensitive and respectful manner and is something which felt like a genuine and grounded portrayal of representation within the show. Hats off to the creators for finding a way to be inclusive in such a meaningful way. The rest of the characters in the show get some fantastic development too. I love how we explore some conflict between Brooklynn and Kenji in this season – and also love how Kenji attempts to find his way as he balances the expectations of his friends with the expectations of his father. The characters were handled really well this season and I am happy we got some good growth for them in their final adventure.
A negative which comes from good character growth, however, is that it feels like the overall plot and story of the fifth season isn’t as strong as it could have been. The real core of the story is the tension between Kenji and his father – and this is something which plays out throughout the duration of the story as we learn more about Mantah Corp and what they have been up to. Whilst this does provide some interesting insight into how other genetics companies have been behaving within the Jurassic universe, it doesn’t quite go to the depths I would have hoped for in the fifth season – and it ultimately feels like another story about chaos ensuing on an island which is plunged into chaos. Don’t get me wrong – I don’t have any problem with this concept in isolation – but I find it hard to enjoy the more confined nature of this story after Jurassic World Dominion opened up the wider world and showed us what was unfolding across the globe. Granted, Camp Cretaceous does still take place between Jurassic World and Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, but I feel like there was perhaps a missed opportunity to setup a more interesting story arc for the final season here.
With this said, I absolutely adore the inclusion of Daniel (Kenji’s Father) in this season as I think he was incredibly well written in this series. I really love how throughout the season we can see hints at Daniel’s true nature – ignoring Kenji in certain moments, but also manipulating his son and taking advantage of situations like the date with Brooklynn to try and emotionally exploit him. We get a sense of the kind of man which Daniel is – and this makes me very curious for the wider canon. Was he attempting to manipulate Simon Masrani whilst he was working with him? Perhaps some of the technology stolen on Mantah Corp island was obtained before the park even closed? These are certainly things which are hinted at throughout the fifth season, and I would not be surprised to learn that Daniel was playing a longer game through his relationship with Masrani. I really enjoyed how this character was portrayed – and am very interested to think about where he may be by the time we get to the events of Dominion. Men like Daniel don’t tend to stay locked up in Prison for very long, after all.
We go from an aspect I really enjoyed to an aspect I was severely disappointed by – the return of the Barbasol Can. When we talk about ‘bad fan service’, this is sadly exactly what this sequence felt like – with the characters literally just randomly finding the Barbasol Can itself in a muddy mound whilst they are crouched down on the floor. Yes, the characters did discover the Barbasol Can near to an area where several Dilophosaurus are encountered, but this didn’t make this feel like any more than an on-the-nose nod to the original Jurassic Park. I have to admit – I was really disappointed with the way this was handled in the show and wish that they had omitted its inclusion entirely. There have been several proposed ideas for stories about how the Barbasol Can could have been recovered and I wish that the door had been left open to explore those in the future, rather than closing it in a shoe-horned and sadly far too brief moment. With that said – I did appreciate the choice of character who stumbles upon the cryo-can, something I will touch on next!
I’m not going to make the full joke – but it is true that we have Dodgson here. I really enjoyed Dodgson’s inclusion in the fifth season of Camp Cretaceous – showing that even before the events of Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, this character was working behind the scenes to prepare BioSyn to take advantage of InGen’s failure. I really loved how the character’s portrayal in the show felt in-line with the way he is presented in the Jurassic World Evolution 2 DLC – creating a man which feels impatient, but also excited when it comes to discovering new things on Isla Nublar. Whilst the legacy of the character and his relationship with Dennis Nedry could have been expanded upon a little in the show, I have to admit that overall, his inclusion was one of the real high points of the fifth season for me. Dodgson and the growth of BioSyn more broadly is something which I find incredibly compelling – so I would love to see more of this in future Jurassic media.
One thing which I found myself wanting more of in the fifth season was dinosaur and location variety. The fifth season of the show acts as a little bit of a trip down memory lane – with season favorites like Bumpy, Toro and the Spinosaurus returning for the final act. Whilst it is nice to see these animals back on the screen it is at the sacrifice of new animals – with the only new animal appearing in this season being the Nothosaurus. The animal has a couple of interesting moments in the show but there is nothing groundbreaking here – and I certainly wanted more. Introducing Lewis Dodgson and BioSyn also made me hungry to see more of the Dolomites Facility and the Pyroraptor, the Giganotosaurus and the Quetzalcoatlus. We never see any of these animals in the show – and whilst they didn’t necessarily appear here, I think it would’ve been interesting if we had learnt that one of the animals which appears in the valley in the Dominion had been a Mantah Corp creation. It’s like I said in my non-spoiler review – this is fundamentally more Camp Cretaceous, and I’m not entirely sure that making it more of the same was an adequate way to close out the series.
We get another welcome inclusion in the fifth season with the return of Dave and Roxie from Season 1 – accompanying Darius’s brother, Brandon, as the trio embark on a quest to revisit Isla Nublar and attempt to rescue the kids. I enjoyed how our time with them felt like a callback to the event of the series as a whole – uncovering Mitch and Tiff’s camp, and also finding the campsite which they built in the ruins of Camp Cretaceous. I would have loved to see more of these characters on the island, however – as it felt as though their quest to rescue the kids was cut a little short. I think seeing more of Dave and Roxie and their emotional reaction to revisiting a Nublar which has fallen into ruin and disrepair since they were last on the island could have made for a really compelling narrative – helping to provide insight into the emotional toll the collapse of Jurassic World had on the employees who worked at the park. Don’t get me wrong – it’s nice seeing them back, but I wish we had spent a little bit more time with them and perhaps had more of a set-up for them returning to the island alongside Brand.
Lastly, we have the ending for the show – and this is something which we have been building to since the end of Season 3. The kids make it home and become known as ‘The Nublar Six’ – making the news as kids who survived on Isla Nublar after the Jurassic World incident. We then get a sneak peek at where they end up – with Bumpy and Ben still on Mantah Corp island with Mae Turner, Brooklynn investigating Lockwood Manor, Kenji helping to continue to fund Mantah Corp Island and Sammy’s Family’s Farm, and lastly Darius – who is out giving talks on dinosaurs as he follows in the steps of Alan Grant. We then have a moment where Darius encounters a Brachiosaurus outside his window – indicating that dinosaurs are now out in the wild. I enjoyed how this ending tied up to Jurassic World Dominion – but I can’t help but feel like this ending would have been more impactful for me had it come after Season 3. Season 4 and 5 do some interesting things but ultimately feel as if they are a detour from the same ending that we were on route to reach at the end of the third season.
So that brings a close to our coverage of Camp Cretaceous – and what a journey it has been! It’s been fascinating seeing how far the characters have come over five seasons – and I enjoyed how many different plot threads and narrative elements we got to explore over the course of five seasons. I really enjoyed this show – and think it was a successful first outing for Jurassic in a televised format. I hope that in the future we also get a more mature live-action television series for fans of the franchise – and have my fingers crossed that this is opening the door for more expanded Jurassic in the future.
That’s my thoughts on Season 5 – but what are yours? Let me know your comments below and stay tuned to The Jurassic Park Podcast for more content in the near future!

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Season 3 Provides A Welcome Treat For More Mature Jurassic Fans (Non-Spoiler Review)
The third season of Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous is just around the corner – with a debut date of the 21st of May 2021. The DreamWorks Animations and Universal Pictures teams were kind enough to give The Jurassic Park Podcast a look at the series ahead of its debut, so we wanted to share a non-spoiler review of the series. We will share one spoiler, however – this season was AWESOME!
If you caught my review of the second season of the show, then you will know that I was a little apprehensive about the direction which the series appeared to be taking – but, I was open to the team working on the project to prove me wrong and put my doubts to rest. I am happy to report that the third season of the show did exactly that. It took the time to explore new areas of Isla Nublar, brought in some additional lore which will have wider influences on the Jurassic universe as a whole, and also explored some darker and much grittier story threads throughout the season which I think adult fans are likely to enjoy. The story of the third season is one of desperation – as the Campers plan to escape the island whilst attempting to avoid a new threat which is making its presence felt across Isla Nublar.
The third season’s story really takes the opportunity to explore some fundamental elements of the Jurassic franchise – allowing us to explore certain events and things which may have been happening off-screen during or before the events of the films. I really enjoyed how these sequences added extra context and meaning to moments which we are already familiar with as Jurassic fans, allowing us to revisit these moments and appreciate the extra depth which Camp Cretaceous adds to them. One of my biggest concerns with the third season was how the plot would be handled in terms of its wider implications for the larger story which is taking place as we approach Jurassic World Dominion. I’m happy to report that serious thought has been put into the writing here – finding a way for the story to fit happily within its confines whilst making sense in terms of the wider canon. I was really delighted to see just how hard the team worked to make this fit, and apart from a couple of small moments which contradict smaller elements of the canon, the story itself works really well and feels like a return to the great storytelling present throughout the first season.
The Campers also get the opportunity to see some fantastic growth throughout the third season – with some moments which put them in genuinely challenging and deadly situations that allow for some meaningful growth. The story manages to factor in some of the key elements which many of us face when we are growing up – including things like discovering our own identity – but it does this in a way which complements the story which is unfolding on screen. It’s also worth noting that the growth in the characters isn’t only psychological and emotional in this season. As you can see in the trailers, the assets have been updated to reflect the amount of time which the campers have spent on the island – meaning unkempt hair and dirty clothes are present throughout. The added detail, combined with the emotional development many of these characters undergo in the third season, means that the show helps to provide a snapshot of the real impact that being trapped on Isla Nublar has had.
There is also a lot of variety in Dinosaurs here – with several different animals seen throughout the season, which we really appreciated. As we saw in the trailer, the Dimorphodon from Jurassic World appears in the season for the first time and has some fun sequences which help to remind us of why aerial animals are so terrifying. An assortment of familiar carnivores and herbivores also return throughout the third season – helping to remind us of just how diverse the ecosystem present on the island really is. Alongside all of these expected animals, we also have a couple of surprises which I wasn’t expecting, one of which made me shout out loud with excitement. The show does a really good job of balancing our expectations with new and diverse elements – even if they always don’t make the most sense in the wider context of the confines of the park.
Alongside good variety in Dinosaurs, we also get a good assortment of different locations throughout the season – as well as familiar locations, too. One thing I appreciated was the different weathers and times of day which we got to use to explore some locations, as this meant that some locations got to feel a lot more authentic and therefore complimented them feeling a lot more new, too. It’s safe to say that Isla Nublar is a huge island with lots of unique areas dotted across it, so I really appreciated the opportunity to explore more of that, and to get some insight into the ways in which Simon Masrani opted to run the park. Whilst there are a couple of locations which perhaps feel a little exaggerated due to their location on Nublar, they do provide a welcome change of pace and tone to the story, something which only benefits it as we continue to get deeper into the depth of the real plot points here.
Overall, I am absolutely delighted with Camp Cretaceous Season 3. This season felt like it reigned in some of the more grandiose aspects of the second season – something which felt a lot more grounded, and therefore a lot more appropriate tonally when compared to the other projects within the Jurassic universe. There were plenty of moments when I laughed out loud and had a huge grin on my face watching the show – and I think this is a testament to the amount of passion and love which clearly went into getting this right. There is something for everyone here – from classic call-backs, to action-packed moments and even some subtle nods to the novel – all of which helps to create a season which I am confident will be just as pleasing for adult fans as it will for the younger fans who are growing up with this era of Jurassic content.
Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous Season 3 is exciting, energetic, scary and nostalgia-driven in many of the best ways – and I can’t wait to see how the creative team behind this season continue to build on it in the future.

Camp Cretaceous Season 5 FINALLY Brings Barbasol Can Back
Today, courteousy of Entertainment Weekly, we got our first look at Season 5 of Camp Cretaceous – which is confirmed to be the final season of the Jurassic World animated show on Netflix, releasing on July the 21st.
The biggest reveal is the return of the Barbasol Canister from Jurassic Park – the cryo-can which Dennis Nedry had used to attempt to extract embryos from Isla Nublar in the original Jurassic Park. In the 1993 film, Nedry is working for Lewis Dodgson and the shady company BioSyn – who both return in Jurassic World Dominion. The return of the can here cannot be a coincidence – so we would bet that this is the much-teased direct connection to Jurassic World Dominion which the producers of the show have been teasing for some time.
The trailer doubles down on some of the elements we became familiar with at the end of Season 4 – featuring the Dilophosaurus in a full return, alongside the virtually augmented biomes we have come to know in past seasons. Interestingly, Mantah Corp also appear to be moving the dinosaurs (including a Carnotaurus and a Spinosaurus) off of the island and to a new facility – somewhere which we would bet is owned by BioSyn or another company. Recent teasers from Dominion itself have shown a Carnotaurus which is very similar to Toro from earlier seasons of the show, so we are willing to be the threads of the story are finally connecting in interesting new ways.
It is also worth noting that one sequence shows us the return of Hawkes – a character who was last seen with Doctor Henry Wu. We are assuming that Henry has departed for BioSyn after the events of Lockwood Manor – so it could be possible Hawkes now works for them too, unless both he and Mills were employed by Dodgson to begin with. There is definitely a lot of overlap in characters here – so this opens us up to really get some interesting new storytelling either pre or post Fallen Kingdom.
The series looks set to bring an exciting mix of dinosaur action for the finale, with the Tyrannosaurus Rex and Pteranodons also teased to feature in action sequences in the season. If this is the finale, then we would expect Chaos to take root throughout this season – and we cannot wait to see what other action set pieces we may get. Bear in mind we are still before the timeline of Jurassic World Dominion here – so we are excited to see how the events which unfold in this season lay the road for the climatic events which we will see in the upcoming sequel.
It’s safe to say this trailer leaves a lot of questions. Where did the Barbasol Can come from? Where are these dinosaurs being moved to? How will BioSyn factor into the finale? We can’t wait to see how these questions, and more, are answered on July the 21st.
Stay tuned to The Jurassic Park Podcast for more news on Camp Cretaceous Season 5 as soon as we have it.

Dinosaurs, Robots & More | Camp Cretaceous Season 4 SPOILER Review!
Hey everyone – and welcome to another article on The Jurassic Park Podcast. Today is our SPOILER deep-dive into Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous Season 4. In this article we will explore some of the most interesting moments which I feel were present throughout this season.
We have a lot to delve into and talk about here – and we will reference things referenced throughout the entirety of Season 4, so click off now if you do not wish to be spoiled. Still here? Good – let’s dive in!
I wanted to start this article by getting the biggest sticking point for me out of the way – and that is the science and the technology which Mantah Corp are capable of utilizing in the fourth season of the show. The quadrupedal robot drones referred to as the ‘BRADs’ were pushing the boat out a little bit too far for me in terms of believable technology in the Jurassic universe, so the introduction of the BRAD-X units really pushed this over the edge for me. I understand that the intention here was to introduce Mantah as this genuine, technologically advanced threat, but the amount of futuristic technology here felt at odds with the more grounded nature we’ve come to expect from the Jurassic franchise. I appreciate that the writers were attempting to do new things here, but this feels tonally a lot more like Westworld than Jurassic Park.
With this initial surface level of extreme technology and goofy set pieces chipped away at, the rest of the story here is really strong in my opinion. The idea that rival biogenetics companies are scavenging animals from places like Isla Sorna and Isla Nublar makes a lot of sense, as I can imagine there would be a huge scramble when news broke that Jurassic World had fallen. This alone makes for a strong story – even if I wish we had seen more of Isla Sorna in this portion of the story. The other themes which are explored here are very eye-opening when we think about the current Jurassic universe. The idea of dinosaurs fighting each other for entertainment, and rich investors overseeing investment and acquisition of these animals is something which mimics the ending of Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom very well. This gets me excited for the universe during Jurassic World Dominion, as this helps to paint a picture of some of the nefarious things which could be going on in this universe. We’ll go into more detail on another plot point later in this review, but it’s safe to say the story feels pretty strong here when you dig underneath the surface level moments.
I also think the Animals in this season were handled incredibly well – with some interesting new additions to the roster. The Kentrosaurus was a welcome new addition, with Pierce having some fun behaviors which showcased how differently Herbivores behave in different situations. The return of the Spinosaurus was very triumphant – with the animal behaving in the same aggressive way which we saw in Jurassic Park III. I really appreciated this as it made it feel consistent to the animal which we all know and love. The Saber-Toothed Tiger has an interesting introduction into the series, but it is killed off quite quickly and feels inconsequential when it comes to the overall storytelling here, although it does open the door to more animals being introduced in the future. The introduction of the Spinoceratops was a really cool idea in my opinion, as I think it makes sense that Mantah would want to create their own hybrid after seeing the Scorpios Rex during their reconnaissance on Isla Nublar. These animals were fun additions and make sense given that hybridization is unlikely to suddenly stop happening. Lastly, but by no means least, is the reveal of the Dilophosaurus – a dinosaur which we have wanted to see return for a long time. This was an awesome reveal and I love how aggressive and nimble these animals are depicted as within this show. It was a really cool reveal which made the final debut feel like it had some fantastic payoff.
There is a lot of character development in this season too – and I think a lot of this was handled incredibly well throughout the duration of Season 4. We get Kenji and Brooklynn entering a relationship and we can see this blossoming throughout the season – initially causing some tension with Darius before this is resolved. This development is overshadowed, in my opinion, by something which is far more pertinent – and that is characters like Yaz experiencing PTSD from the events which they experienced on Isla Nublar. I was really impressed that the writers of the show took the opportunity to explore mental health within this season given that this is not something which we often see touched on in the films. These events are incredibly traumatic, so seeing some time given to exploring the impact that events like these can have was a welcome change of pace and something which I really appreciated the writers including here. Doctor Mae Turner and Kash are also introduced with some decent development – helping to flesh out how Mantah Corp have a mixture of scientists and technicians hired to develop the groundbreaking technology we see them using in the show, although I would perhaps like to learn more about these characters in the future – something which I am hoping we get to explore in a fifth season of the show.
On the subject of characters, we have to talk about one character who is revealed during the fourth season of the show – and that is Kenji’s Dad. The final episode reveals that Kenji’s Dad is actually in charge of Mantah Corp – perhaps explaining why his dad spent so much time on Isla Nublar. It would seem as though all of his trips to the island alongside Simon Masrani were perhaps a secret intelligence gathering exercise, allowing him to learn more about the assets which InGen had created and steal research. This would explain why Kenji had seen the tunnels on Isla Nublar – as it is likely that his Dad was using them for a less than above-board reason. I thought this development was interesting, and I am excited to see what it means in. the future. We need to keep in mind that Kenji’s Dad likely thought he had died on Nublar but was still willing to exploit the island afterwards for his own gain – showing that this character is unlikely to be a positive influence in the show. Just how evil he may be remains to be seen, but we are excited to get to see more of his character when we get a fifth season of the show. We are also interested to see whether he is truly the man in charge of Mantah Corp – or if there is someone above him pulling the strings behind the scenes, too.
I think after touching on Kenji’s Dad, it is worth us touching on Mantah Corp as a whole – as this organization get some really interesting development throughout this season. It is stated that some of the assets which Mantah have on this island are stolen directly from Isla Sorna – which poses an interesting question given the fact that we know Sorna will be referenced within Jurassic World Dominion. Is it possible that Mantah Corp are working with Biosyn in the upcoming film? Or is it possible that Mantah are going to be an entirely separate part of the new film all together? Whichever it may be, it is interesting to see another large organization with multiple assets and advanced technology working to create and contain these dinosaurs. As InGen continues to crumble in the wake of the Jurassic World incident, it is interesting to think about where these additional organizations may factor in as they fight to fill the power vacum which is left by InGen. We’re hopeful that Mantah isn’t a purely Camp Cretaceous creation, as it would be awesome to see them pop up in other extended media in the future to see where they fit into the overarching universe which seems to be being built currently.
One of the more interesting things we see Mantah Corp participating in during this season is research into the Behaviour and Emotions of the Dinosaurs – something which feels right at home when compared to the IBRIS programme in the Jurassic World film, and also the work which is being undertaken in Jurassic World: The Live Tour. This is a really interesting connection to be able to make in my opinion, as it suggests that some of the work and research which InGen were doing may have been stolen by Mantah Corp as a basis for their own work, too. This poses a really interesting question in my opinion as it could suggest that Doctor Turner had worked with InGen at some point in the past – something which would add some cool depth to her character. It wouldn’t be beyond the realms of possibility that scientists and staff involved in the Jurassic World park would go and work for other organizations and companies in the wake of the Jurassic World incident, so I think that there is the potential for some kind of connection to be explored here in the future. Who knows what the future may hold for this new character!
The last thing I wanted to touch on is the fact that at one point during this Season, Darius is able to get a telephone call out to his brother – letting him know that he is still alive. He doesn’t get enough time to tell him where he is, but we can see that his brother now knows that he is alive, and he uses this as an opportunity to prepare to head out and rescue Darius from wherever he may be. This reinforces the idea that we will be returning to Isla Nublar in the fifth season as this is the last place where Darius’s family knew he was – so they will, presumably, assume that the call came from the island. This sets up for a potentially fun split-narrative in the fifth season, with Darius’s Brother piecing together the clues about what happened to the kids on Nublar whilst the story on the Mantah Corp Island continues simultaneously. This possibility has me excited as I am curious as to whether we could see Dave and Roxy return in the fifth season to help with a rescue mission on Isla Nublar. Only time will tell for certain, but this season opens some interesting doors for future potential storytelling which we can’t wait to explore.
To conclude – Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Season 4 explores some interesting themes and ideas which I think will be all the more relevant as we approach the release of Jurassic World Dominion. There are some interesting potential connections to other pieces of lore which we know and love, but the show never really solidifies these connections – with even the two Tyrannosaurus Rexes present from Isla Sorna never being fully explained. This series feels like it wants to connect a lot to the things we loved beforehand, but it struggles to stick the landing.
What saves it, in my opinion, is a fantastic focus on story which could have real ramifications for the modern-day Jurassic universe. Watch this series in the context of what could be going on now dinosaurs are in the wild and I think you’ll get some enjoyment out of it. I know I am very excited to see how this cliffhanger is resolved in a fifth season of the show. Let us know your thoughts on the fourth season in the comments below, and stay tuned for more news, reviews and much more on all things Jurassic in the near future!

BRAND NEW Look At Camp Cretaceous Season 3 – Including E750, Classic Jurassic Park and More
Courtesy of the team at Universal Pictures and Dreamworks Animation, we have a brand-new look at the third season of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous – which is set to debut on Netflix in just under a month, on May the 21st, 2021.
Join me as I pick out some of my favourite moments from the trailer and share a healthy dose of speculation for the upcoming season!
Right from the start of the trailer, we can get the sense that the children have now been on Isla Nublar for an extended period of time – with Darius’s hair feeling subtly slightly longer than when we left him at the end of the second season. The trailer opens with the gang, now reunited with Ben, attempting to escape from the island on a makeshift raft before a wave and increasing winds ultimately causes them to find themselves stranded in the remnants of Jurassic World once again.
The third season also looks set to explore more of the island than the previous instalment – a criticism I had with the second season. At 00:29 in the season, we can see the kids heading into a building which appears to use some of the old Jurassic Park style of architecture – although I’m not fully convinced that this is the old visitor centre given the flat nature of the building’s exterior. With that said, the design language is incredibly similar here – so this is definitely something from the original 1993 park which gets me very excited.
00:31 also shows us a building with interesting light features – implying that perhaps we are seeing inside the Hotels at long last, or, possibly, maybe John Hammond’s long forgotten Mansion on Isla Nublar. We would not be surprised if elements from other non-canon sources, like Trespasser, are retroactively added to the island in this series. The interesting note here is the dinosaur silhouette – which appears to be an Monolophosaurus judging by the unique crest present. It also looks to be a dino featured in an upcoming toy pack with Kenji.
00:43 addresses another issue I had with Season 2 – showing Doctor Wu talking about the E750 project. This gets me excited as it is clear that this animal is not just another unique addition to the franchise, but rather is a measured addition to the Jurassic canon with a clearly mapped-out explanation as to how it came into existence. I was worried this may not be explained at length in the third season, so seeing the writers committing to fully fleshing out this animal is very exciting.
01:04 highlights the fact that Blue is going to be more of a present threat in this season than the previous seasons – suggesting that she may finally get some more screen time when the Campers get their third outing later in May. It will be interesting to see how Blue continues to adapt to life on her own – and if we get any nods to where she eventually finds herself nesting in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
01:13 provides an interesting look at two attractions – the Gondola, and also some kind of Sky-Gliding activity which visitors to Jurassic World can take part in. I wanted to see more of the park fleshed out in the second season, so I am excited to see the team behind the show taking the opportunity to go back and give us even more of the former Jurassic World in this upcoming season. It is also fantastic to see the Dimorphodon back in action here, too.
The trailer ends with what is presumably E750 – with a horrifying look at the animal in brief glimpses. I love the rain and thunder used to amplify the sense of horror and terror in this sequence – not too dis-similar to the ways in which the Indoraptor was introduced in sequences at Lockwood Manor. The roar towards the end also almost had more monster-esque tones to me, reminding me of Godzilla, which gets me even more excited to see how this new animal interacts with the Campers on screen, and the Indoraptor-esque eye tease at the end is more than enough to make me hungry for more.
I have to admit – this trailer has me genuinely pumped for the upcoming season of the show. I was left a little deflated after the end of Season 2, but Season 3 looks set to go in an exciting and refreshing direction – mixing more of what worked for Season 1 with the darker and more horror-driven tones of Fallen Kingdom. The lore elements built into the very fabric of this third season are also intriguing to me – and they make me really excited that we are getting another opportunity to revisit the island and uncover even more of its secrets.

New Camp Cretaceous Trailer Confirms Season 2 Release Date and Hints at New Threat!
A new trailer for the second season of Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous has debuted today courtesy of our friends at Entertainment Weekly – and it provides an exciting look at the next set of adventures which the kids will find themselves thrust into now Isla Nublar is abandoned.
The trailer starts of relatively normally – with the kids attempting to find some way to communicate with people off of the island after realising that they were left behind in the wake of the Jurassic World incident. The kids eventually find their way to Main Street, where they encounter Rexy inside the Tyrannosaurus Kingdom. We also see a makeshift camp which the kids have constructed in the ruins of the old Camp here – providing an interesting base-of-operations for the second season of the show. The camp, in particular, almost has a Robinson Crusoe vibe to it, which is pretty cool to see mimicked in a Jurassic project. This is much more a handmade structure than an existing one like Eric found on Isla Sorna in JPIII.
We are treated to a few more fun shots here – including a gorgeous call-back to the lake seen in the original Jurassic Park, before we get an interesting reveal; the kids managed to get a signal off of Nublar, and presumably to a rescue party. We cut through a few more shots – revealing the group of Baryonyx who we believe will be antagonists in the second season, as well as a much clearer look at the Ceratosaurus from the first trailer, which appears to be presented in a much darker colour palette than the one seen in JPIII. We see a few more sequences – including one with the kids notably using what appears to be Owen’s motorbike, before we end with the biggest revelation of the entire trailer – the kids are not alone on Isla Nublar.
As a Ceratosaurus approaches the group they are saved, at the last minute, by a flare which is shot from off the screen – and we hear them state that they are not alone. Whilst this could be the return of Ben, who we know is alive and separated from the group, the sense of revelation in this moment makes it feel as though it may be someone knew – like a group from the menacing Mantah Corp who were first referenced in the first season of the show. It could, however, be other survivors from the incident also abandoned on the Island – so it is safe to say there are lots of questions and little answers right now!
With that said, this trailer has us incredibly excited for Season 2 of Camp Cretaceous. Rather than a simple ‘survive and escape’ story, it looks as if the journey the kids are on may be about to take a much darker twist – and we are excited to see where that may take us. We are also excited to see more of the ruined park in the second instalment of the season, and are really excited to see a ‘new’ swarm of returning Dinosaurs wreak havoc across Isla Nublar.
Camp Cretaceous Season 2 is now confirmed to debut on January the 22nd, 2021 on Netflix. Be sure to check out our video breakdown below.
