yoo joonghyuk you asshole
here's my summary and thoughts on the first half of episode 9, 'Words that Can't Be Written'!
595. Words that Can't Be Written (1)
so. lee hakhyun's in a terrible state, and he was pulled away by a thread of light
o..ouch....
right, so this is definitely yoo sangah so, kimcom is aware that's something is up, but it seems they can't help out? oh hakhyun,,
lee hakhyun wakes up to jhw and ksi calling his name, and when he looks down, his body is fine. his head is not fine, probably. when jhw leaves to get water for lhh, ksi and lds come over to ask lhh what happened.
it seems he doesn't remember what had just happened he confirms with everyone that
they weren't able to find jiyoon, but she's read orv a lot. i'm sure she's still alive somewhere. but there's another question
are they really dead? did any of them end up in the underworld? are they just.. gone?
ye hyunwoo comes up and greets hakhyun then, and lhh belatedly notices people are moving around and preparing for something
emergency defense? this was happening earlier than in orv, and it wasn't planned. how did all the green zones get destroyed so quickly? ...there's only one answer to that. lhh had too much faith in yjh
god damn it, joonghyuk lee jihye goes to the stairs to watch. it's too late to persuade her to help now, but it seems ye hyunwoo has prepared everyone beforehand
to make it clear, the '7 apostles' is an orv fan club but it's led by 7 'apostles', one of which is killer king lhh again noticing the differences between this turn and kdj's turn
jung heewon. i love you. in every turn, she wants to protect,,,
orv isn't over yet. there are still stories to be told 'he couldn't even do that properly' holy shit hakhyun give kdj a break LMAO
with ye hyunwoo and gong pildu leading chungmuro station, the emergency game starts
this is concerning. she's not here to help the readers and it seems han sooyoung is planning on killing yjh. yoohan♡
596. Words that Can't Be Written (2)
gong pildu uses [armed zone], and his turrets take out waves of ground rats, but more continue to rush in. people fight, and people die.
lhh and ksi talk while they fight. i can see how sein didn't see the scenarios as fully real,, this is like both the most unbelievable yet believable thing ever. it's orv, who hasn't thought about what would happen if the scenarios started? but it's a whole different thing if it actually happened. there would be some separation from reality
yeah.. this could mean something going to write your own story, hakhyun?
the stuggle continues, and grolls start to emerge along with the ground rats. grolls are 8th grade monsters, and take a lot more to kill than a ground rat eventually, gong pildu needs to reload, and hakhyun's party steps up to cover the gap they manage to survive that long, but gong pildu was getting tired. kim dokja had given him a ton of potions, but hakhyun.. well, he's about to, but gong pildu calls hyunwoo
HE WENT ALL IN ON MAGIC POWER. THIS INSANE KID i commend him for being so attached to a character he'd base his whole strategy around them. the 'tech tree' that hyunwoo had been talking about all this time was for this. he's putting everything into surviving with gong pildu
good for him! the constellations took notice too (i don't know if i've mentioned this before, but pay attention to the constellation who hasn't revealed a modifier. he keeps showing up with,, interesting messages.)
but, someone says the words.
don't know if i talked about this before, but the last time someone said things were going 'smoothly', things did NOT go well. a screenshot from chapter 558
if you find yourself in the scenarios, do not say smoothly ^^
so, there are phases now, and a giant 7th grade monster appeared. the pildu and hyunwoo combo can not deal with this. but there's someone who can.
hakhyun has his own tech tree! well, not really, but it's close enough
another mention of hakhyun writing side stories speaking of the side stories;
597. Words that Can't Be Written (3)
lhh got that notification, but he's kind of in the middle of a battle. can't really check his phone right now. let's put that aside for now
jung heewon! with her new attribute, 'judge of demons', she's able to deal with a monster at this point only yoo joonghyuk would be able to kill.
oh!! she learnt a skill on her own!! jung heewon!!! catching the interest of the constellations too jhw against an imaginary yjh.. getting thrown off a bridge would do that to you jhw was really strong in the main story also,, lhh wonders if she'll be able to match yoo joonghyuk this time
there's the chapters, and the one we're reading right now i previously posted screenshots on this, but he uses the comment passes and gets very short comments. this pisses him off. with 2 passes left, a new option appears
pay coins to read top rated comments! coins really are everything the comment may be referring to hsy's plan for yjh? of course, lhh has no idea about that, and thinks that obviously nobody can deal with yjh he uses his final pass, and,
uh oh. but everything's going smoothly?
oh.
the comments are still increasing. lee hakhyun thinks, are the stories of the 'extras' written?
i'll come back to this in a later chapter.
lee jihye is a main character, not an extra. she wouldn't die. neither would jung heewon. but what about cheon inho? lhh hands jhw to ljh, who takes it in confusion. and then lhh starts walking forward.
i don't know how i feel about him relying on his skill to tell if he'll live or die. i believe in him, but this also doesn't feel good but go hakhyun!! write something good! you wouldn't go too far, would you?
#orv side story#orv#orv spoilers#side story rambles#jung heewon you are AMAZING#<- SO STRONG. LOVELY. BEAUTIFUL#my summaries do not capture the full emotions from actually reading the side story#please read the side story. i will share my edited mtl with you if you purchase the side stories <3#feel free to ask me any questions about the side story too!! i can't fit everything into here and i do cut out some stuff

WN Women Bonus Polls #3: Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint
[Propaganda below] - Major Spoilers Warning!
Han Sooyoung / Han Suyeong from ORV / Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint
Submission 1: I can't even begin to explain the real reason so I'll just. She's everything. Consumes my every waking thought. Someone else please take the lead and add propaganda for me
Submission 2:
Han Suyeong is a writer. She is cunning, self-serving and confident. Her avatar skill allows her to divide herself into as many copies as she pleases, and each copy can look like anyone. Her only weakness is that if she loses the copies, she loses memories. She initially starts as an antagonist who is not afraid to murder some people on her way to the top. She gradually bonds with the main character due to their shared knowledge and shared love of stories. *MAJOR spoilers for manhwa readers* She gradually becomes one of the three main characters. She is one of the two people from the main cast to become a constellation (god-like beings living off stories). She spearheads the attempts to rescue the one person who matters most to her, even when it is impossible. Even when everyone else has given up years ago. She dooms whole universes and all their people for her one person. She sacrifices everything.

Jang Hayoung from Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint / ORV
[No Propaganda prepared]
Wiki Link
Additional Propaganda:
Propaganda for Jang Hayoung: Transwoman, universe-hopper, canonically the prettiest character. Personifies one of the themes of the book. You can't know anyone just by looking from the outside; or more spesifically - you can't ever know anyone fully. The inside of their heads will always be a mystery for you. You can't ever know if they receive the words you say and the actions you do as you intended them. You can't ever know how the things you do affect another person. You can't ever know them. But it's worthwhile to try anyway.
Jung Heewon from Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint / ORV
“Just because I am a murderer doesn’t mean I want to keep killing. I don’t want to be a monster.” - Jung Heewon, Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, Chapter 31
Jung Heewon rights forever and ever. She’s so funny and cool and witty and funny and good and kind. I’m not far enough or eloquent enough to explain why she’s the best, so here’s another quote:
“They lived their whole lives inside the cages of their worldview, only to be used by the invaders from the outside. Demanding such people to be brave was the very act of violence itself. Jung Heewon wanted to tell them; tell them that they didn’t have to fight, that she’d do something to resolve this by herself, somehow.” - Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, Chapter 395 (Tumblr)
Wiki Link
Lee Jihye from Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint / ORV
Submission:
Lee Jihye is boisterous, a little childish and even abrasive. She brags, jokes around, gets into teenage hijinks. But under the surface there is a great deal of survivor's guilt, self-loathing and insecurity. She is a traumatized teenager who killed her best friend to live, and has to live with that for the rest of her life. She is an incredibly talented swordsman and a general capable of turning a battle around all on her own. And a girl just trying to learn how to survive.

Lee Sookyung from Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint / ORV
[No propaganda prepared]
Wiki Link
Uriel from Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint / ORV
[No propaganda prepared]
Wiki Link
Additional Propaganda 1: Cheerful and kind personality, amazing powers for smiting evil, huge rpf shipper. Think fujoshi but for people you actually know in real life 😂
Additional Propaganda 2: Member of the Absolute Good constellations, ships the main character with the protagonist. About to bankrupt her constellation paying for new content for her ship 😉
Yu Sangah / Yoo Sangah from Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint
Submission:
Yu Sangah is a intelligent and hardworking woman with a vast array of skills, which are sadly not optimized for surviving the apocalypse. But there is nothing she can't learn if she puts her mind into it, and soon enough she is a powerful force to be reckoned with. She has the best interpersonal skills of the main cast and a vast array of knowledge. Her fighting style is graceful, athletic and utterly brutal. She wields dual daggers and threads. All the while she remains the moral heart of the group, a steadfast support to her friends, and a capable leader in her own right.

– You think a measly couple of years is enough to break me down? I belatedly recalled what an amazing dude Yoo Joonghyuk was. The trustworthy Lee Hyunsung, the driven Jung Heewon, and even Han Sooyoung all broke down and lost themselves. [Giant Story, 'Kaizenix Archipelago', is shooting a dissatisfied glare at Incarnation 'Yoo Joonghyuk'.] However, Yoo Joonghyuk was completely unscathed. But then again, that was pretty obvious when I thought about it. The method employed by this worldview's 'Giant Story' to break us down was 'time' itself. However, Yoo Joonghyuk possessed far stronger resistance towards the passage of time than anyone. Well, he had already spent hundreds of years in the Dark Stratum going through harsh training, after all.
Okay, I think I finally fully processed the fact that Joonghyuk is mentally hundreds of years old.
Which is something Dokja has known since before they even met.
...Dokja had some real cheek telling Joonghyuk that as the younger person, he needed to use honorfics when speaking to him.
#I know that dokja was just responding to yjh at the time#but it's so funny in retrospect that that's what he settled on when dokja knows that the guy in front of him is like 500 and he's 28 lmfao#also yjh being freaking OLD explains so much lol#orv#orv novel chapter 376#omniscient reader's viewpoint#orv liveblog#orv spoilers#kdj#yjh

Feb 15, 2023 I FINALLY FINISHED ORV AFTER FOUR MONTHS 💖💖
My favorite scenes (⚠️novel spoilers!!⚠️) and thoughts:
Yoo Junghyuk and Uriel sprinting to the demon world because they got a vague hint about Kim Dokja's possible whereabouts
KDJ's modifier becoming the Demon King of Salvation. KDJ telling everyone that he had explained how to kill a demon king before, so... *cries*
KDJ making 1863rd YJH eat dirt literally (it was sad but really funny too)
Yoo Sangah making the first fake revelation from the hole in the Library
YSA shoving YJH onto the chest of unconscious KDJ, making him read part of the Library during the Isle of Reincarnaters arc
YSA and KDJ's conversation in the dark right before she reincarnates
Persephone stroking KDJ's head and telling him, [You're our son. That is all that matters.] (Chp 389)
KDJ, for the first time, desperately wanting to live. And sent Jung Heewon and YJH (and Han Sooyoung if I remember correctly) the message that he wanted help, that he wanted to be saved. (During the War of Demons and Angels, and KDJ was inside the Indescribable Distance)
YSA taking the monkey king's headband off his head and PLACING IT ON KDJ'S HEAD HAHAHA
Secretive Plotter sincerely smiling <3
Literally every time Sun Wukong/ monkey king referred to KDJ as maknae /maknae-ah in a brotherly affectionate tone of voice
The Librarians seeing KDJ+co. off at the subway train. Their voices being cut off from the door closing.
KDJ+co.+Outer God Kings meeting the Most Ancient Dream. the line, [Please end the 'Most Ancient Dream'.] BROKE MY HEARTTT
YJH becoming an astronaut!!!
KDJ waking up in the hospital at the end <3 At least I like to believe he did wake up. HSY and YJH did an amazing job <333
I just can't believe it's over now. I can't wait to see all the scenes drawn in the webtoon!! (But I'm scared about the health of the webtoon artists. It's gonna take ages)
The scenes that are most vivid in my mind are YSA's fake revelation, Secretive Plotter (and later, KDJ's companions) being chased by the Hounds Chasing After the Abyss, the [Please end the 'Most Ancient Dream'] scene, the Outer God Kings holding the Most Ancient Dream, Persephone stroking KDJ's hair, and KDJ being a demon king with his wings and horns.
Someday I want to reread now that I know what happens.
I guessed that tls123 was Han Sooyoung (I couldn't figure out how, though, until it was revealed). I definitely didn't guess correctly who Secretive Plotter or the Most Ancient Dream were. I thought SP was Dokja of the future, and I can't remember what I guessed for MAD. Pretty sure I was thinking of YJH, but very tentatively lol
I have so many other thoughts, but I'll just say, what an insane story overall. Honestly with all the time looping and regressing and stuff, things got confusing for me, so as I got nearer to the end, I was repeatedly shocked at how well everything was being connected together. How HSY and KDJ and YJH were all interconnected and there wasn't a beginning nor an end. But it all made sense!! And there were so many funny and extremely heartbreaking moments. I'm so happy and excited that I get to delete the orv spoilers content tag now and see all the fanart I want without spoiling myself.
I think the thing that will stick in my mind for a long time, is 'Write something on the wall, because maybe someday, someone will read your message. Even when you're long gone, even when communication is impossible'.
Thank you author (authors??) for writing this story. It's definitely one of my favorites now💖💖💖
I hope the ongoing stories I'm reading and love, will end as amazingly as ORV. Like Tower of God, Witch Hat Atelier, Inso's Law (webcomic), Survival Story of a Sword King in a Fantasy World (webcomic), Blue Period, Houseki no Kuni, Seraph of the End, and lots more 💖💖💖

omg that's SO cool you started ORV for han sooyoung; she's so cool (and I'm glad you're enjoying it for its full cast as well!! :3)
Hehe yeah it's interesting so far! I do think it wouldn't have been something that would've caught my eye without so many people talking about how much they like it, but I'm also a sucker for a well-written woman who likes to cause problems on purpose. She's so funny to me. Can't wait to find out what her deal is. I suspect a few things about her relation to the original Ways of Survival and not just the plagiarized version she wrote but I'm not entirely sure. There's a lot going on.
And yeah! The whole cast is fun! Yoo Sangah is such a sweetheart but she really shows the strain of that while doing her best to hold strong... she's an icon honestly. Same with Lee Hyunsung... he's so quick to try and help. :') I also have such strong feelings about all the kids... they're all very sweet and helpful, Lee Jihye is hilarious, and Lee Gilyoung is a bit scary sometimes but I love him for it. Also got attached to Shin Yoosung almost instantly lol. I hope she will be ok... unlike 41st SYS. :(
I've already mentioned how cool I think Jung Heewon is... she's amazing. And I do empathize with Yoo Joonghyuk's situation, and I'm eager to know where his character is going.
And Kim Dokja is my favorite little shit of a scammer. He's wonderful. I am curious as to what his objective is here. I figure it has something to do with YJH but... idk. Loved his and Bihyung's trolling of the other dokkaebi that was fantastic.
#thanks for the ask!#wow there's a lot of people here who like orv#that's really cool!#oh one last addition: paul sucks. get fucked paul.#orv#orv spoilers#storyrambles#oh oh! also! i called the identity of the king of wanderers in advance!#not that it wasn't obvious but still. she's also fascinating.

orv ask game!! 🚘👀💧
oooh okay
so 🚘: Do you think anybody in Kimcom knows how to drive?
i think a few of them probably do! Han Sooyoung definitely. Maybe Lee Hyunsung learned while he was in the military? Jung Heewon.....maybe? idk i feel like she'd drive a motorcycle not a car
👀: What's your opinion about the webcomic?
i love the art the art is amazing and beautiful and it's SO WELL DONE
i actually started reading the webcomic before i read the novel so i may be biased towards it skskskk
i love how they bring out a lot of the humor and being able to *see* everyone's expressions as things are going down really adds a nice emphasis on the emotional side of things
💧: Which parts of ORV made you cry?
..... have i cried yet? i don't think i cried physical tears yet but there were definitely sections that made me sad and i've done a lot of screeching (i haven't finished the novel btw)
188 probably is closest i got to tears but as i said i can't remember if i actually cried
from this ask game!

hello tumblr user usersasaki 🫵 you will never know who i am! (or who knows lol hi karma <3) this anon has been looking into getting into orv but keeps procrastinating like they do on many other things and so asks you, one of their resident orv likers they know, to uh. idk. but feel free to ramble on about why you like orv so much & why someone should get into it (like me!) so maybe i can finally be convinced to read it Now instead of putting it off for later again and again !! ... or something like that 🥺✨
OK GUYS THIS IS NOT A DRILL. THIS IS NOT A DRILLLLL AAAAA HELLO U BEAUTIFUL PERSON I THINK IK WHO U ARE BUT RN I'M SO READY TO CRUSH U IN A BIG HUG REGARDLESS OF THAT
ahem. yes. anyways. i'm totally normal abt this, i totally didn't go feral for a few moments before i started typing this. OK BUT I'M SO READY TO TRY TO CONVINCE U TO READ THIS CUZ WHEN I SAY THIS WEBTOON + WEBNOVEL HAS CHANGED ME ENTIRELY. pls bear with me, giving me a chance to word vomit was not a good idea /hj. i'll put everything under the cut :] and i'll try to keep everything as spoilerless as possible so that u can safely enjoy the story when u get to it
i will apologise in advance for the person i've become, this might end up becoming a HUGE post (edit: i think it did, this is apparently at a lil more than 2k words rn cuz i typed this in google docs for fear of tumblr nuking my entire draft and me having to start all over again)
tldr for those who don't want to go through a 2k essay; orv is for you if you enjoy clean art, stories that will break down your initial expectations and surpass them, and things like found family, love (all kinds), and just an emotional rollercoaster in general. prepare snacks and tissues.
i'll start with the webtoon because that's where it started for me! honestly one of the things i look for most when i start a webtoon is the art. and there are times when even if i like the story, if the art ain't it for me, i'll drop the story 😭💀 but orv has such beautiful and crisp art, very edible art HAHAHA (both webtoon and novel by the way but i'll get to the novel in a bit) it makes me go so O.O sometimes. here's an example of the art, you might've seen it somewhere but i'm still adding it here for the pure beauty of these men named kim dokja and yoo joonghyuk AND ALSO han sooyoung and jung heewon (yes i'm gay, no it's not obvious /j). every character in this webtoon is so well drawn and just. chef's kiss okay, so if you like pretty art, you've got that right here folks.
moving on, the story seems, at first, like a very generic action fantasy webtoon where the world of a novel becomes reality and our mc aka kim dokja is the one who knows how to get to the end and he gets to meet his favourite novel’s protagonist yoo joonghyuk and decides to save the world. but as the story progresses on and on, it becomes so much more than that. the storytelling skills have to be applauded because webtoons can't use lots of words and have to convey things more concisely than their novel counterparts but they've done an amazing job of using the right dialogues in the right places with the right amount of impact. AND as of right now, the story is starting to head towards what i'd like to say is the actual beginning of this webtoon >:) that’s all i can say without spoiling some major things from the novel so,, yeah!
another beautiful part is the portrayal of each of the characters, especially kdj, and their different dynamics with kdj. now kim dokja is our mc and the main narrator of this entire thing so we’re quite limited in that sense because all we see and know is what kim dokja tells us through his narration. a lot of posts have accurately pinned him down as an unreliable narrator because he really only ever shows his companions (and us readers) one part of things and we’re all left to speculate about things. each companion holds a different opinion of kdj but all of them are united in the fact that they trust him to help them get through everything. while the webtoon hasn’t had a chance to explore that yet, i’m looking forward to how they will show it to us :] i’d say that this webtoon is worth a read also because kim dokja is the most mind boggling, intriguing and frustrating character you will ever meet. that’s a fact that’ll get clearer as you get closer to the recent chapters of the webtoon, but i love how he’s relatable in the sense that he both makes me screech in awe but also makes me want to wring his neck with how he is sometimes. i love him *holds him by the neck* (affectionately). oh and when i say every character is just a beautiful piece of art, i mean both their literal art and also the way they’ve been written, though it is more clear in the novel as of right now.
NOW i’m gonna move onto the webnovel because i honestly fell deeper into the rabbit hole purely because of the novel. and sing shong (the author of the webnovel) is an absolute genius for the way they have both intricately and simply pushed a single message throughout the length of the novel. i constantly joke about how reading the orv novel has changed my brain chemistry but i’m not joking most of the time because it really did. in many ways, i’m sure this is a novel i will remember for a very long time to come.
the same points i spoke about for the webtoon stand for the novel as well BUT of course the novel is just immaculately written and it deserves a chance of its own. it’s not that the writing of the novel is extraordinarily fancy or anything, it’s actually quite simple reading without too many complicated words but i think that has a beauty of its own. it’s able to convey what it needs to without having 10 pages of description and that’s awesome to me. there are issues with some things written in the novel but as it isn’t a focus or the point of orv (i got this point from this tumblr post, feel free to read through it if you want to because they have written some great points that can’t be said better by me!), it’s still a novel that entertains you to the fullest.
the characters are admittedly more fleshed out in the novel than the webtoon but that’s because the webtoon is still catching up while the novel is complete (it ended with epilogue chapters but recently the author came out with side stories). the relationships are just very detailed and it gives you a look into not only kim dokja’s head, but also yoo joonghyuk and other characters’ heads as well, though they’re not as common because the majority of the story is in kdj’s point of view. i’ve neglected mentioning other character names so far but kim dokja has a set of the most loyal and sweet and sometimes feral companions besides yoo joonghyuk like yoo sangah, who is someone kdj knew before the novel became their world, jung heewon and lee hyunsung, kdj’s trusty sword and shield, lee gilyoung and shin yoosung, his children (not biological but yes). there’s also lee jihye, an avid yoo joonghyuk follower who insults kdj at every turn but cares for him, and han sooyoung, who is portrayed as a bit of an antagonist or an anti-hero (as far as the webtoon goes anyway wink wink). and a lot of other characters you’ll grow to either love a lot or hate with a passion oR even have your opinion take a whole 180 about as you read on and on, that’s just the kinda novel this is.
don’t even get me started on the underlying themes of this novel. this is me being an english major (and psychology major unintentionally, double major woohoo) through and through but i love analysing characters and figuring out themes that come out through the writing. i won’t go too into the details so that i won’t spoil it for anyone who happens upon this post. but there’s the overarching theme of love; not just romantic love but also platonic love, familial love and the most important one of this novel, self-love. another theme i think is quite relevant and important to this story is more easily relatable to people who read often because it goes into how books can change you BUT you can also change books by reading them over and over again and understanding it better. also how stories can save you but you, as a reader, have the power to save stories by reading them. because in the end, a story continues because you read it. OH I CAN’T FORGET THIS, found family <3 if you’re a fan of found family, this is for you, it’s present throughout the story as a small but encompassing theme.
now this could be just me but i get extremely emotional when it comes to my favourite media, so i squeal with joy at happy parts, sob uncontrollably when sad scenes come up, punch my pillows when something makes me mad⏤ you get my point. and this novel gave me an entire rollercoaster of emotions and made me so URGH in good, bad and ugly ways. it kinda brings me back to my point about kdj being an unreliable narrator since the reason why it gets so hard and sad is because this man never tells anyone anything. he takes it upon himself to do everything, much to the annoyance and despair of his companions and us the readers. we know nothing other than what kdj is willing to tell us, not about his plans, not about him, not about his own feelings. and we’re left to guess and guess until everything is laid bare and then we’re still trying to. process everything. yeah i don’t know if this part is making any sense but i can’t really go into detail without majorly spoiling the story. so you’re gonna have to come back to my post once you’re done to be like “ohhh, right this is what they meant.” /j
To move to a lighter and probably my last point, the novel illustrations are gold i tell you. it’s done by a person named blackbox or bb-nim for short and i love just going through their art for fun. of course, if you’re reading it on a website like i did, then you’re not going to see the illustrations side by side so you should definitely check out blackbox’s twitter which i’ve linked here :] you’ll probably also find their art on pinterest. gorgeous art i tell you, BUT BUT BUT there are spoilers here and there so beware if you go digging through their media tab on their twt. I’ll put some of my favourite pieces that are as non-spoiler as possible under this
so. yeah. these are my reasons for why you should read both the orv webtoon and novel. In the end, all i can say is that if you give them a chance, you’ll probably get hooked just as i did. i knew to a certain extent about how the novel was but nothing prepared me enough but i’m not complaining because it is genuinely so good. i’ll add a list of content warnings here that i got from the wiki page because i don’t want anyone to be ambushed by anything they’re not comfortable with reading: graphic violence, death and murder, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, suicide, body horror, dissociation, transphobia (this might be a deal breaker and it would be for me too as a nonbinary person but it’s not a major focus and happens a couple times throughout the story), cephalopods, tentacles (yes these are real content warnings on the wiki HAHAHA), and finally hospitals.
to all of you who actually read this far, thank you! you are a great person for reading through a random person on the internet go on and on about a webtoon and novel, hope you have an awesome day/night ahead of you! if you have any questions about things in the webtoon or novel, feel free to hit me up, i’m always down to have conversations about orv (none of my irls have read it but i will use this essay to convince one of them to give it a chance so wish me luck). anyway, peace out folks! :]

i have totally forgotten to tag other characters from this over-a-million-word-long book, and i will add them to this list later once i remember them
also my personal talking tag is #key speaks but i'm not sure how often i'll be using that

[Incarnation Han Sooyoung and Incarnation Jung Heewon have demonstrated their 'trust'.]
I am completely normal about these two I swear
[ID: A digital piece of fanart depicting Han Sooyoung and Jung Heewon from the webnovel Omniscient Reader by Sing-Shong. Han Sooyoung carries a battered, exhausted Jung Heewon on her back as they exit the scenario. She is dressed in a black t-shirt and dark grey jacket and jeans, with black knee-high boots and bloody bandages visible on her left wrist where she holds up Jung Heewon’s left leg. There is a cut on her own left leg, and her face is covered in bruises, scrapes, and old blood. Even so, she smiles softly at Jung Heewon, who weakly raises her own head to smile back.
Jung Heewon is dressed in her usual black shoes, slacks, and waistcoat and a white dress shirt, which has a bloody cut on the right sleeve and bloodstain on the left. Her sword hangs from her hip, and her arms are slumped over Han Sooyoung’s shoulders. She sports a black eye and a gash on her forehead. Blood trickles from the corner of her mouth as she offers a tired smile to Han Sooyoung. The background is a light grey with streaks of faded red and purple at the center, behind the two characters. /end ID]

omg okay. top 5 orv characters who aren't yoohankim. anddd top 5 orv arcs that Aren't dark castle. 💖
OHHH BOY THANKS GRACE..............here we go lol. i won't even cheat and use sp/od lmfao
top 5 orv characters who aren't yhk: (it's all Girls. all of it.) 5. lee jihye! she is so fun and wonderful to watch grow and i genuinely love how hilarious she is. number 2 joongdok supporter and number 1 high school badass of my heart.... her speech when they find out they're all novel characters tears my heart to shreds
4. jung heewon! WOW talk about cool women doing cool things.... she is amazing. i love her and her character arc so much. oh my lord. her -- being salvation breaks my fucking heart. the relationship she has with kdj and with everyone, really, is so important to me.... i love her.
3. uriel! oh my god i had no idea how much i would love uriel when i first started orv. i expected to hate all the constellations but she's amazing... she loves kdj with her whole heart. and her jd shipping is hilarious and relatable. and oh my god 999 uriel? what a BADASS? and also incredibly tragic. i'm so glad she gets to live with the 999 gang and od happily ever after.
2. yoo sangah! she was always a character i really liked from the getgo but her time as a librarian really solidified it for me. she's just... the friend of all time. she cares about kimcom so much and it's so sincere.. her conversation with kdj about how they would've been friends and supported each other through life makes me cry. and her pepper in coffee stunt is legendary.
shin yoosung! she was originally best girl, actually, but then hsy took over my heart whoops lmao. but she's amazing. i adore her character development and her entire just... her relationship with kdj especially is so wonderful. the story she gets during the journey to the west arc made me cry a little bit. i love how much she grows and she was so soso cute i die.
runner ups include lhs, knw, and lgy!
top 5 orv arcs that aren't dark castle:
5. oh this is tough uhhh i think disaster of floods? this was the moment in orv that really kinda jammed itself into my brain permanently. when i was reading for the first time this was the part that i could not put down and HAD TO SEE how things played out.... and then proceeded to binge read the rest of the novel in a week HAHA
4. 73rd demon realm!!! how fun!! revolutions in each other's names? check. one of my favorite moments in the novel? check. the beginning of the pocket watch? check. the extremely dramatic "YOU JERK LEAVE HIM ALONE"? check!!!!!
3. gigantomachia, because i love mechas, i think kim namwoom is hysterical, and i love greek mythology. and also the iconic "it has always been "once' for me" moment. absolutely love that moment. the whole thing was so much fun and i was just absolutely pumped reading it.
2. epilogues...... listen i like hurting myself, and i love to imagine what could happen in the future. i did write almost 40k about it!!!! and also the reveals were so well done. nothing in fiction has ever hurt me quite the same way as the orv epilogues. woof.
1863 BAYBEE. it breaks my heart! it hurts me so much!!!! i genuinely had no idea what to expect going into it, but i couldn't put it down. i had to see what was going to become of this yjh who was so broken he would eat dirt on command. of this hsy who had done what kdj wanted to do - just without the inclusion of his most important part, yjh. it also began my crackpot theory of sp being yjh and wouldn't you know that was canon. lmfao.
runner ups would include the theater dungeon, n'gai forest, 46th main scenario, and the great war of saints and demons!!!
thanks grace i had too much fun with this. ily
#orv#mitzi.txt#ask game#orv really just makes me type like a madman huh#kyle saw me answering this and asked if i were sprinting#.#lmfao

Ace attorney AU! ORV
Just saw an edit with the "objection" of Ace attorney put above a picture of Kim Dokja and because I have zero self-control, here is what I wrote:
Kim Dokja in the role of Phoenix Wright. They both have the amazing ability to bullshit their way out of everything.
YJH as the undefeated prosecutor, very focused on his job and who likes to cleanly close a case.
KDJ : alright, let's interrogate the praying mantis !
YJH : ....
KDJ : Gilyoung?
LGY *pointing at YJH* : Titano says "fuck you".
Lee Hyunsung in the role of Gumshoe would fit well... I think? And him having a crush on former cop Jung Heewon who somehow ends up in trouble and has to be defended by Dokja??? She later becomes his assistant ("I already am!" "Gilyoung, please you're eleven.") and partner-in-crime.
Shin Yoosoung as his adopted daughter. The three of them wreaking havoc on crime scene.
LGY : I'm gonna touch the corpse !
SYS : Do it, you coward.
LHS : Dokja-ssi please ...
KDJ *shrugs*
YSA would fit the role of Dahlia Hawthorne although she is far nicer and also smarter.
KDJ : Have you ever killed anyone, Sanga-ssi???
YSA *only smiles in an innocent but still terrifying manner*
KDJ : nevermind...
Her victims mainly consist of men who agressed her or other women. Kim Dokja knows this. Yoo Sangah knows he knows but none of them ever mention it.
As for Han Sooyoung... maybe another prosecutor who retired and then became a writer but still sometimes help KDJ. She insists that she only does it in order to make fun of YJH.
(YSA and HSY could fit the serial killer/writer trope !!!)
----------------------------------
Wait, wait, wait, would Yoo Mia then be the equivalent of Franziska in this AU??? Could you imagine her whipping KDJ each time he looks at her big brother??? That's be hilarious.
-----------------------------------
That would also make KDJ and YJH's childhood friends with KDJ becoming a defense attorney in order to reconnect with YJH (and because of the whole mess with his mother). Han Sooyoung would never let him live it down.
#orv#omniscient reader's viewpoint#kim dokja#yoo joonghyuk#I still need to finish writing Snapshots but this could be an interesting story#But KDJ is too chaotic to be a good defense attorney he'd end up breaking twenty different laws in order to find a single evidence

MASTERLIST (and review) MAY 2021
This Must Count For Something -
Fandom: Omniscient Reader
Pairing: Kim Dokja/Yoo Joonghyuk
Summary: Dokja deals with the Mortification of Feelings, while Joonghyuk as per usual is no help at all.
Notes: This one is still such a big surprise. I honestly didn’t think it was gonna become this big, haha. Like it’s the first time I ever reached 3K. And am so so so proud of it. Their dynamic was so much fun to write for. Writing Kdj’s pov especially. The ending a bit weak, but I do love this one a lot. And the most amazing thing of it: I wrote it in a day! And then edited it and posted it the next day which is...wh. what.
Everytime I look at this, It makes me feel like I can do anything now. Because I was uncertain about being able to write sm well or at all, but then I wrote it and IN FIRST PERSON. So yeah. I realise that all of that must’ve been like me thinking too hard about things. Just need to write, and go with the flow. Like this one, and just not hesitate with writing.
Heaven -
Fandom: Supernatural
Pairing: Sam Winchester/Castiel
Summary: The first time Castiel sees Sam really laugh, it takes him by surprise.
They are sitting in a hotel bed, talking, when it blooms out like a roar, Sam’s body comes to life and glows. It’s—gorgeous. Castiel is enchanted. Human’s describe Heaven as Light and Divinity, full of peace and enlightenment. It sounds nothing like the home that Castiel was familiar with. If that is what Heaven is, though, Castiel thinks, then—this is where Heaven must be. What Heaven must be.
Sam.
Notes: This was a longgg time wip I had which I love v dearly and wanted to finish so much times, but didn’t manage too. But then, I got a comment on of my sastiel fics which was so sweet??? and so??? kind so. lol i got sudden surge motivation and managed to finish this!! It’s incredible. I love it a lot. It’s also amazing to see how my style here is different. I wanna write something similar to this again.
I really went crazy with the descriptions and absolutely love it. It was so fun!
Chance -
Fandom: Omniscient Reader
Pairing: Yoo Joonghyuk/Yoo Sangah
Summary: Sangah hears the words she’s been dreading from Yoo Joonghyuk’s mouth, come.
“I love you.” He says. Delivering it like he does with everything else, pouring all his heart into the words.
How could she refuse it now, when it’s blatantly in front of her?
Notes: This was fun to write for! Don’t think I will be ever writing for this two separately though, I prefer much them in a poly. Oh boyy it was intense with finishing writing for it, I think there are parts that I kinda rushed so like stuff I might’ve included didn’t make the cut. But! Overall, and how I ended it, was nice! I loveeee it. The ending was a completely surprise and i super love how it came out. I think it fits v nicely with the whole theme.
The stars tangled in our hair -
Fandom: Omniscient Reader
Pairing: Yoo Sangah/Jung Heewon
Summary: There’s a hand snaking around her waist. Jung Heewon leans back against the weight, dizzy, so grateful for it that she doesn’t even question who it is.
Notes: This was so much funn to write for! Gosh, really love these two. I actually love everything about it?? Don’t think there’s any part that I’m unhappy about! My only lament is that it wasn’t longer, lol. And I guess, how the transition from the beginning to Heewon in the hospital is a bit bumpy. Everything else, though? Good! 🥰
#masterlist#may 2021#FINALLY adding in the reviews which i said i would do haha#supernatural#omniscient reader#orv

What They Say about Do Kyungsoo (Compilation as at July 2017 - will be periodically updated)
Note: List is arranged in chronological order of project’s screening Disclaimer: LONG POST AHEAD
Drama <Its Okay, It’s Love> (2014) Kyungsoo played supporting role, Han Kangwoo, a high school student, the hallucination of male lead actor, Jo Insung.
Kim Taeyong (Director)
“In his previous project <It’s Okay, It’s Love>, he managed to portray the perseverance of a scarred child and was also able to express righteousness through his eyes. His acting is so outstanding that others around his age is unable to rival his standards.”
Kim Kyutae (Producer)
“Kyungsoo-ssi delivered way beyond my imagination and showed me his potential. Having said that, we still put him through a challenging pre-filming training…his work was definitely above my expectations, especially during the later stages of filming. He gave me the feeling that I discovered a gem.”
Noh Heekyung (Screenwriter)
“Kyungsoo will become a great actor. I like his humility and how he’s focused on delivering his character to his best.”
Jo Insung (Costarring Actor)
“D.O. definitely has what it takes to become an excellent actor. To help, I even shared with him the knacks of acting and everything I knew.”
“D.O.’s biggest charm is his individuality and assertiveness.”
- 韓国TVドラマMagazine Interview
“As everyone knows, he’s really a very busy kid, even during filming intervals, he’ll be required to fly back and forth (Korea), but despite that, it never once affected our filming schedule. He’s also always focused and puts his best foot forward and persevered to the end. Perhaps him being this way helped us achieved such a great outcome.”
- MONTHLY ASIAN NEWS
“Although many may think that he’s here because of (his affiliation to) EXO, but Do Kyungsoo’s acting is really beyond my imagination and I am so surprised. We have really found ourselves a brilliant actor; it's acting that even amazed screenwriter Noh Heekyung and Producer Kim Kyutae."
- TV Drama ‘It’s Okay It’s Love’ Press Conference
Gong Hyojin (Costarring Actress)
“Kangwoo’s expressions are really great. He looks innocent and the appeal of his eyes is really unbeatable. Kangwoo is this drama’s touch of brilliance, really.”
- TV Drama ‘It’s Okay It’s Love’ DVD
Yun Seokjin (TV Drama Critic)
“D.O. has played his character in such as astounding and in-depth manner…D.O. has a good feel of the role and had successfully played the hallucinated character (in <It’s Okay, It’s Love>)…his growth rate is the fastest among idol-actors.”
- Entertainment Weekly
Lee JeongHwa (Ten Asia News Editor)
“D.O., who played Han Kangwoo in <It’s Okay, It’s Love> is a newcomer actor who’s able to accurately grasp and portray deep sadness. Even when he smiles, he expresses an innocence and immense grief that he may not have even realized. Every time he appears in the drama, he moves the audience. Of course, his stable vocal projection and acting need no further mention.”
Heo Jiwoong & Park Jiyoon (TV Show Hosts)
Heo: “Initially, I didn’t know he was an idol, and he left such a deep impression in that signature scene when he was running alongside Jang Jaeyeol (played by Jo Insung). It’s a pretty challenging scene to do well, but it didn’t appear awkward or pretentious at all.”
Park: “This scene is really one that’s challenging, but he acted really well, a new acting idol is born.”
- JTBC TV programme ‘Ssulzun’ [2014.08.14]
Film <Cart> (2014) Kyungsoo played supporting role, Choi Taeyoung, a high school student, son of female lead actress Yum Jungah.
Boo Jiyoung (Director)
“He did really well. The casting director recommended him as someone with great eyes but when I saw him, he wasn’t really like the bright, smiley kid shown on the picture. It seems like he has a quiet world of his own, somewhat melancholic, but at the same time having the positive energy of what someone his age should possess. I had a really great first impression of him. Although it’s the first time he’s participating in an acting project, he was able to earnestly absorb and deliver comments and requests that I gave, which is really challenging for a first-timer. Needless to say, I saw potential in him.”
- MONEYWEEK Interview
“When I have only seen his photos that were taken with his ‘idol group’ in his singer capacity, they were all pictures that showed his bright and happy expressions so I could not decide if he was suitable for the role (of Taeyoung), but when I saw him in person, I was genuinely surprised by him. He did not appear like an idol, and is mature and rather quiet. At that point, I was struck by my instinct that this kid will be able to handle the role.”
- IVY Magazine
“Kyungsoo participated in the casting together with other idols. He competed and won the role of ‘Taeyoung’ honourably. Compared to the other actors, his expressive set of eyes was the best.”
Yum Jungah (Costarring Actress)
“Given that this is his debut acting project, he did really well. But what really surprised me was his character – he’s righteous and very courteous – I hope my son grows up and be like Kyungsoo.”
“Do Kyungsoo is really a kid worthy of praise. His acting’s great and he’s also kind. Additionally, as an actor, he’s also prepared himself in many ways, it’s really hard for me to find any weakness.”
- KPOPSTARZ Interview
“D.O.’s acting will change one’s perception on K-Pop idols’ abilities.”
- Apple Daily Interview
Kim Sooan (Costarring Child Actress)
“I like D.O. oppa! I grew to like D.O. oppa as we filmed <Cart> together. His acting is really good.”
- StarNews
Kim Heewon (Costarring Actor)
While attending SBS Power FM ‘Kim Changryul’s Old School’, Kim Heewon was asked, “Among the movies and TV dramas, who is the hoobae that you think have the greatest potential?” to which he revealed, “…the other (actor) that I wish to work with is EXO member D.O., he had an extraordinary charm when he acted for movie <Cart>. Before meeting him, I didn’t know he was a singer, his cold persona in the movie looked really great.”
- SBS Power FM ‘Kim Changryul’s Old School’
Kim Young-ae (Costarring Actress, but shared no scenes together)
“When I watch Kyungsoo’s outstanding acting performance, I’d want to hug him. His acting really amazed me.”
- Movie ‘Cart’ Press Conference
Uhm Junghwa (Actress)
Actress Uhm Junghwa on her twitter, “I attended <Cart> VIP premiere today and it’s really such a great film. It’s heartbreaking…sad…and leaves a deep impression. All the actors were good, and our cute Do Kyungsoo-ssi’s acting is really good too~”
- Uhm Junghwa’s Twitter (@love_tangle)
Roh Hoechan (Politician, Former Parliament Member)
“I had to try very hard to hold back my tears during the premiere of movie <Cart>. Both Yum Jungah’s and Do Kyungsoo’s acting are excellent and the movie’s main lead character is actually E-LAND Union. To be reunited here to watch this movie after 8 years, it feels even more impactful. (The movie is) Highly recommended!”
Drama <I Remember You> (2015) Kyungsoo played cameo role, Lee Joonyoung, as a psychotic serial murderer.
Jung Sunghyo (Chief Producer)
“Lee Joonyoung is a challenging character to play since he’s supposed to be a beast-like character that’s will strike viewers in a frightening way. Do Kyungsoo was able to digest and deliver the character in a way that’s shockingly great.”
“When acting, Do Kyungsoo isn’t copying anyone (or take references), he really immersed himself in the role so as to portray the character, which is really different from other idols’ acting, allow the outcome to feels whole and rich. After watching <I Remember You>, I think he will definitely receive invitations from many projects.”
- SportsQ Interview
Seo Inguk (Costarring Actor, but shared no scenes together)
“What’s regretful this time is that I don’t have any scenes with D.O.; I was really looking forward to it as I’ve heard how good his acting is. Particularly, he played the younger rendition of Lee Joonyoung, which turned out far beyond my imagination and I am really astonished! I feel that although he’s my hoobae and younger brother, there’s still much for me to learn from him.”
- IQIYI Interview
Kang Yewon (Actress)
During 25th Seoul Music Awards, Kang Yewon mentioned that she has recently watched <I Remember You> and revealed that she’ll like to work with Kyungsoo once. When the cameras pan to D.O., the audience went wild, which shocked Kang Yewon. Thereafter, she mentioned, “If Do Kyungsoo is available/willing, she’d like to collaborate once.”
- 25th Seoul Music Awards
Shin Jaeha (Actor)
“I will refer to similar-aged actors’ projects and recently I have taken a lot of reference from Do Kyungsoo’s performance in <I Remember You>. He feels like a really good actor, I am genuinely astonished by his natural acting talent.”
- Tenasia Interview
Film <Unforgettable> (2016) Kyungsoo played his first lead role, Beomsil, a high school student, who has a innocent and huge crush on of female lead actress Kim Sohyun, and was willing to do anything for her. He shared lead roles with a total of 4 other actors including Joo Dayoung, Lee David and Yoon Joonseok, as the movie depicted the friendship among the five friends.
Lee Eunhee (Director)
“I actually watched all the projects that Do Kyungsoo was in, so naturally I see him as an actor and not an idol. He has expressive eyes and a good vocal tone. After meeting him, I felt that he was sincere, honest, yet bashful. It’s exactly who Beomsil is. During the filming of the movie, my opinions and perceptions of him were then confirmed.”
- EDAILY
“While I was writing the script, I didn’t really care until I found Do Kyungsoo. He left a really deep impression on me with his performance in <It Okay, It's Love> and his maturity level seems to surpass my imagination. At that time, I thought to myself, ‘How can I possibly not know him when he’s a member of the wildly popular idol group EXO?’ Thereafter, I went to research and collect many of his previous interviews articles as well as a lot of information about him before we eventually met up. Although I still wasn’t sure at that time, I pretended like I knew a lot about him. He’s very conscientious in his work. While he may not have a mature, masculine outlook, but neither does he look like a child. While we filming, I didn’t think he was that good looking. But while we were at the post-production stage, I realized how handsome he truly is. To have debut as an idol, it must have been very challenging. It’s like fighting a war everyday, having to firm his ground in the competitive environment, be it back in the days when he’s a trainee or all the way until now. There must be a reason that keeps him unwavering and a belief that’s spurring him on. To have successfully completed his first lead role movie while showing no signs of fear throughout the 70 scenes that were filmed, it’s highly possible that’s he someone who has what it takes to bear the weight of the crown."
- StarNews
“I find their pupils (of their eyes) very similar. I have previously mentioned that Kyungsoo has eyes seemingly like windows; so does Park Youngwoo sunbae-nim. They can’t hide emotions in their eyes; they can naturally convey emotions through them without having to try too hard.”
- SBS Power FM Cinetown [2016.02.18]
“Kyungsoo is an actor with eyes seemingly like windows such that he’s able to express all emotions through his eyes.”
“When he’s practising the scenes with his co-actors and they need to look him in the eyes - D.O. doesn’t pre-plan how he expresses the scene in his head, he lets his heart and feelings lead him in his acting and expression of the needed emotion, which the scene even more powerful.”
Kim Sohyun (Costarring Actress)
“All the staff on set liked actor Do Kyungsoo.”
“As I have participated in several dramas previously, I carry with me a preconceived image that the audience expect of me due to past projects. Conversely, Beomsil (Kyungsoo) is able to act freely and present a fresher image to the audience. The director had requested that we interacted naturally and I was able to do so, responding realistically to Kyungsoo oppa’s natural acting. Kyungsoo oppa is really expressive, and helped bring out a lot of my genuine emotions. With that, I could respond with even more ‘sincerity’.”
- Star Daily News
“Do Kyungsoo poppa has a manly charm. He speaks considerately and is always courteous to the people around him. Such acts show how mature he is. He’s also very serious when it comes to acting which encourages his co-stars to think deeper too.”
- Focus News [2016.08.31]
“When filming with D.O. oppa, I don’t think of anything else. Oppa is able to present and showcase the character’s emotions at every moment, and so I don’t have to try too hard to evoke my own emotions. I just need to follow oppa’s (acting) momentum to act.”
Joo Dayoung (Costarring Actress)
“I had originally only thought of Kyungsoo oppa as an amazing actor. I wasn’t aware that he is a member of EXO. I am not one that pays much attention to idols and had previously noticed him through drama <It’s Okay, It’s Love>. After costarring in the movie together, I then found out the existence of EXO-Ls.”
Park Youngwoo (Costarring Actor)
“I have never mentioned that only Kyungsoo is great, but I must admit that I did say he’s really good looking. But based on what Director Lee said, it seems that I become expressive whenever I see him. It must seem that I really like Kyungsoo a lot. Whenever I meet Kyungsoo, I will naturally give him a hug first.”
“I suppose I behave that way since he’s ‘me’. I don’t really understand Kyungsoo, so I can’t say we are close. But exactly because I think of him as ‘me’, I can naturally do that (give him hugs and/or take care of him). Don’t overthink matters. No matter what, since we play the same character, I may have been being more emotionally attached to him.”
Hwang Seokjeong (Costarring Actress)
When responding to what she thought of the five lead young actors, “They are all kids with strong desires. They all had their ideas and opinions, which included portraying their respective characters well and not to let down the entire movie. They accorded ‘pure love’ to their characters. Although Kyungsoo had the least acting experience, he is gifted with an extraordinary charm which is amazing.”
- The Fact Interview [2016.02.24]
“I don’t have many scenes with Kyungsoo nor Sohyun, so we aren’t that close. However, whenever I see them on set, I often wind up asking myself ‘What do I do to have such innocent and bright eyes (expressions)?’ It’s amazing, I should have experienced those when I was at their age too.”
Web Drama <Be Positive> (2016) Kyungsoo played lead role, Kim Hwandong, a university student who received funding for his film project but encounters many other problems that he needs to overcome.
Lee Byeonhyun (Director)
“I had observed D.O., Xiumin, Suho and Kai’s acting in great detail.”
“Because of the desire to work with him (D.O.), I’ve been observing him a lot.”
- MBC every1 ‘Video Star’ [2016.09.20]
“I already liked D.O. during his performance in movie <Cart>. I’ve never expected him to act so well, I’m truly astonished. I’ve watched his projects such as SBS drama <It’s Okay, It’s Love> and movie <Unforgettable>, among others. When I saw him in person, his eyes are clear and deep, I’m totally absorbed by them. I would like to collaborate with him at least once and wasn’t expecting an opportunity to come by so quickly. As compared to movie <Twenty>, I believe this character that’s really cheerful, healthy and youthful, matches D.O. really well.”
Joo Woojae (YGKPlus Model, DJ and Radio Show Host)
“A web drama that I’ve been following recently. (His) Acting is really good. It’s as if he’s a person just like Hwandong. He’s really natural. It’s funny. #BePositive #DoKyungsoo”
- Joo Woojae’s twitter update (@toysiesta) [2016.11.03]
Lee Song Hee II (Director)
OP’s acquaintance works in filming industry and knows many directors. He (she) said whenever he (she) meets his (her) friends, he (she) hears many praises about Kyungsoo saying that he cooperates well and he’s nice and very polite. Director Lee Song Hee Il is one of the members of jury during BiFan this year. He knows Director Lee Byeonhyun (who directed <Be Positive>) and also close to OP’s acquaintance. After Director Lee Byeonhyun praised Kyungsoo, he watched <Be Positive> and during drinking party, he talked to OP’s acquaintance for 3 hours and a half praising Kyungsoo non-stop.
- via twitter fan acc @dyominati [2017.08.15]
Film <My Annoying Brother> (2016) Kyungsoo played lead role, Goo Dooyoung, an up-and-coming national judoka who lost his sight during an accident in a competition. He played against Jo Jungsuk, who played his elder brother, who’s a swindler, and made used of his accident to obtain a parole out of prison.
Kwon Sookyung (Director)
“It’s extremely lucky and I’m grateful that the two actors that I had in mind (referring to Jo Jungsuk and Do Kyungsoo) for the respective roles passed the casting.”
- 韩EToday
Jo Jongsuk (Costarring Actor)
“He’s really cute and polite, and one can conclude that’s he’s got a good upbringing. While we do share some age gap, he’s really such a courteous kid, so despite only meeting a couple of times, I have a good feeling about him. I have been interested to film a movie with a warm storyline for quite a while, and audience will be able to feel warmth from the movie <My Annoying Brother>."
- OSEN News
“All thanks to the staff, filming has ended smoothly. Kyungsoo, my young brother also displayed a never-before charm in the movie, please look forward to it.”
- Movie <My Annoying Brother> Celebration Dinner
“As I've watched movie <Cart>, I didn't have any negative perception of him. In fact, it even felt good after meeting. Do Kyungsoo’s got very good focus. I had previously shared with him that ‘his many emotional portrayals doesn’t seem to be captured onscreen,’ to which he accepted graciously and even worked on improving his acting It’s undoubtedly challenging to portray emotions, but he does them well. I think he’s a very sensitive actor.”
- TV Report [2016.11.16]
“To be honest, you know how it's like to have brothers at home, and we would have the feelings that "we are not so alike"? But it's amazing that after spending more time together and staying together, we start to become similar in some way and this is what I experienced with Kyungsoo during the filming of movie <My Annoying Brother>...yeah...I actually felt that way during the three months of our filming together. As compared to the first half of the movie filming, I started to have the thoughts of, ‘we are really alike’ a lot more often during the second half of the filming process. Actually, instead of saying that we look alike in terms of our appearance such as our eyes, ears, mouth or nose, don't you think that we are similar is more ways than that, such as our aura and image? By being alike in those ways, it makes me feel good.”
- KBS TV Interview [2016.11.16]
"When I was watching Do Kyungsoo in the movie <Cart>, I enjoyed his performance. Coincidentally, both of our first movies were produced by Myung Films. I feel that his acting is really good. During his appearance as supporting character in drama <I Remember You> to which he was playing a psychotic patient, I again felt that his acting was outstanding since he managed to create an impactful presence. I thought to collaborate if there was such an opportunity."
"When working together, I feel that he's really smart and learns really fast. I looked up the web drama <Be Positive> that he was in and it was really interesting so I kept on watching. A character that's vibrant yet a little annoying, he played it really well. While acting with me, he presented yet another side of him."
"I look forward to seeing his future. I got word that many have shared their advice and feedback with Kyungsoo. He's also got a group of close hyungs, to whom some are really good actors. I believe that would also be helpful to him."
- xportsnews [2016.11.17]
“...I had previously thought of Kyungsoo as a good actor, so I thought it would turn out well. When I saw Kyungsoo, it felt like I saw my younger self.”
“(He) Knows how to take care of seniors, polite, gentlemanly and very kind. One can observe these qualities easily. I sort of understand why he has that ‘AlMoKyung’ nickname but am unable to explain it in words. But it's really quite a fatal quality of his.”
“Dooyoung is the younger brother who's righteous, strong and man(ly), yet have an innocent and pure heart that's very much like a crystal ball. When others ask me how's Kyungsoo like, I'll say he's very masculine. I find him a very good match with Dooyoung.”
- Allure Magazine [Dec’16 issue]
“Before our meeting, I was under the impression that he may be a little weak and someone who may be immature, but he was nothing like that in reality. He’s very handsome and especially manly, somewhat the feeling of a strong masculine presence in a man, I was really surprised. Although I believe that the fans already know, but he’s someone who’s very manly despite his baby face. He’s one with that kind of charm.”
- Vogue Japan Online [2017.05.16]
“D.O. is really multi-talented and his focus is really great. Although he may look like a cute maknae, you’ll realise how bright and masculine he really is, after getting to know him better. By being that way, he can make the character of Dooyoung live on strongly.”
"Hmm, actually there’s really only Kyungsoo (laughs). Just recently, I have watched Kyungsoo in his web drama <Be Positive>, and felt that his acting is really good. So when I meet Kyungsoo, I’ll say, ‘you are the best.” That web drama demonstrated Kyungsoo’s personal charm and acting abilities perfectly. I feel particularly pleased for him, that he’s got such a promising future and will continue to anticipate his future performances.”

“To me, he’s a unique one-of-a-kind brother. Despite only knowing each other through the filming of movie <My Annoying Brother>, he’s a kind, polite and a very charismatic younger brother. While filming, I’ve not just fallen in love with actor Do Kyungsoo, but am bought over by him as a person.”

Film <Room No.7> (2017) Kyungsoo plays lead role, Taejung, a 20-something young adult who needed to repay student loans and hence worked as a part-timer at the DVD viewing shop, had to battle against 'Doosik’ (played by Shin Hakyun) in the film.
Lee Yongseung (Director)
"While on set, I spoke many times and at length with Kyungsoo when filming. ‘Taejung will do this during this situation,’ or ‘if it’s Taejung, he’ll probably do something else.’ While listening to his analysis and thoughts, I was surprised at how much he has prepared (for the filming/movie).”

@joydvzon: “There are 3 acting geniuses in <Room No.7> - film’s frontliner, acting genius Shin Hakyun; up-and-coming star, acting genius Do Kyungsoo; and black horse acting genius Kim Dongyoung. The way Do Kyungsoo show distinction and portrayed between calmness and excitement is extremely scary (implied in an unbelievable positive way), yet also maintain meticulousness in the all areas in between.”

Film <With God> (2017 & 2018) Kyungsoo will playing supporting role, Private Won Dongyuen. Little details have been revealed of his character in the film.
Won Dongyuen (Producer)
“Why would I have a negative impression of idols-actors after watching Yim Siwan in movie <Incomplete Life: Prequel> and Do Kyungsoo in movie <Cart>? Ultimately, it is not a matter of whether the character is played by an idol but rather exactly who has been chosen to portray the role in question. Nevertheless, up until yesterday, I did not know who Do Kyungsoo is but after watching the movie <Cart>, I have now become his fan.”
“Being an ahjussi, I can be declared innocent by not knowing Do Kyungsoo, but as a movie producer, I am guilty.”
- Won Dongyuen’s Twitter (@shywdy) [2014.11.04]
“My focus is not on EXO’s D.O. but instead on actor Do Kyungsoo. It’s not a matter of a few days, I have noticed him since movie <Cart> in 2014 and I have been keeping an eye on him over the past 3 years. I have always been astonished and pleasantly surprised with his acting abilities. He’s a good actor.”

Animation Film <Underdog> (estimated to release Spring/Summer 2018) Kyungsoo voiced over for lead character, Moongchi.
Shim Jaemyung (Producer)
“Prior to the filming of the movie, I met Do Kyungsoo with the Director in the office. He gave a cordial 90-degree deep bow and appeared to be very nervous and even his ears turned red. I could feel his passion and sincerity from this. His acting basics is also better than I have expected.”
- NEWSEN Interview
Oh Sungyoon (Director)
“His voice acting was exceptional. I decided to cast him because I was deeply moved by his acting in the movie <Cart>. I’ve seen his voice acting three times, and he’s so good at it that I see him as an acting genius.”

Film <Swing Kids> (Estimated 2018) Kyungsoo will be playing lead role, Roh Kisoo, a North Korean soldier who’s also a Prisoner-of-War in a refugee camp, that finds himself falling in love with and fighting for tap dance in the chaos of war and survival.
Kang Hyeongcheol (Director)
“The moment I saw Do Kyungsoo, it seemed as if he’d jumped straight out of the movie’s scenario. I even wondered if his path had taken him here just for this movie to happen.”
“Swing Kids will be a film that features dancing - rare in Korea. [The lead] can’t just be good at acting. His character must seem like a boy teetering on young adult, and he has to dance well too. All that made Do Kyungsoo seem like fate.”
“I wasn’t aware that Do Kyungsoo started as an idol. I wasn’t particularly concerned with how established my lead would be, just that he would best fit the role […] Large budget films need conviction behind careful casting. I haven’t had second thoughts since meeting Do Kyungsoo.”

Others interviews and mentions
Gong Hyungjin (Actor)
“Take EXO’s Do Kyungsoo as an example, who’s seen a breakthrough in the (acting) genres that he does. I am in awe of idols that can act well and I’d think ‘Ah, I’ll want to become a recognized and widely accepted idol too.’”
- SBS k.star
Im Juhwan (Actor)
“I was hanging out with Kyungsoo recently, he’s got a stage name, so calling him D.O. should also be correct. Initially, as he’s an idol, I am curious how he’s like as a friend. Besides, I’ve heard a lot about him having a huge desire when it comes to acting. Jo Insung hyung is not someone who will comment on hoobaes often, but he’ll keep mentioning him and how this friend of his is not bad, so our gatherings now have a newest addition of a maknae. During such gatherings, ‘acting’ topics take up 75% of our chats, and it’s really nice and sincere. Among us, if anyone were to be participating in an upcoming TV drama or film, the rest of us will support and evaluate…because we will help to evaluate, we believe you can do it well.”
- My Daily Interview
Yang Seongmin (CJ E&M Casting Head)
“Many insiders have expressed interest on Do Kyungsoo. There are only a handful of actors in their 20s that can take up a lead role position and it’s undoubted that he should be included in this list. His fan base is pretty stable and this comes partly from his natural acting. I believe he’s more than qualified and competent to undertake the lead role position. He has also used his acting abilities to breakthrough from viewers’ possible prejudice against singers. He’s also immensely interested in acting so I think he’s more than capable to overcome viewers’ misperception on idol-actors.”

“On 19 February, upon the release of collaborative duet ‘Tell Me (What Is Love)’ between Yoo Youngjin and EXO member D.O., the song achieved an all-kill record across major Online Music Sites. “Singer” Yoo Youngjin’s comeback has taken far too long…So why did Yoo Youngjin suddenly decide to return in the capacity of a singer? What more a collaboration with hoobae D.O., an EXO member. Regarding this, SM explained, ‘Yoo Youngjin once mentioned that D.O. reminded him a lot of his singer days and hence planned this project.’”

So Jaewon (Author, notable book titled ‘Wish’)

Reporters Kim & Chung
Chung: D.O., he’s been promoting a lot as an actor with the name Do Kyungsoo, right? I heard that SM doesn’t send people to his interviews often, because he does so well by himself. Apparently he’s like this when he talks [rubbing leg and speaking softly], to the point that it makes you wonder why he's so nervous.
Kim: Also (laughs), female film reporters really like Do Kyungsoo. A reporter can publicize things, so one of my team members went to Hyung’s premiere as one to promote Jo Jungseok. She’d been a fan of him, but she ended up falling for Do Kyungsoo (laughs).

A film director went to OP’s school to give a lecture and OP asked him what he thought about actdols? Film director mentioned that most of them don't really like actdols? The only recognised actdol is Do Kyungsoo. OP asked what’s Do Kyungsoo like? Film director say he’s very kind and polite, exactly the way we imagine him to be. (Film director also mentioned Im Siwan and T.O.P)

Professional Photographer
“I was at a lecture by a professional photographer and got surprised when I saw Kyungsoo among the idols they had worked with previously. The phoitographer said of those idols, Kyungsoo had the most noteworthy character. At one point on the job, they mentioned wanting to eat Seollein (a portable shake). Kyungsoo actually said he would go pick some up and the photographer had to stop him.
That was usually the work of the staff and it was the first time the photographer ever had a celebrity offer to personally pick something up for them TTT It happened around the time Kyungsoo started acting? It was for taking a profile picture, but they remember it because he had such a good personality.. Kyungsoo is full of moving anecdotes T”
