Jays Beat Sloppy Twins.
Blue Jays 3 Twins 0 W-Berrios (5-4) L-Ober (3-2) SV-Romano (12)
The Minnesota Twins offense has been inconsistent for the entire month of May and this series with the Blue Jays has been no different. The team put up just one run in the opener then nine yesterday. The offense was non-existent today at Target Field. The Blue Jays started the scoring in the second inning as Matt Chapman drew a one-out walk. Daulton Varsho reached on a groundball to Edouard Julien, who booted a tough play. The inning continued and Alejandro Kirk plated a pair with a single to center to put the Jays up. Meanwhile, Jose Berrios ran with it and threw 5 2/3 shutout innings against his old team. Trevor Richards got three big outs and Erik Swanson struck out three of the four men he faced. Toronto got back to work in the eighth as George Springer drew a two-out walk and Bo Bichette singled to center. The ball got past Willi Castro, which scored Springer. The Jays extended their lead to three. Jordan Romano struck out the side in the ninth and Toronto took the series from Minnesota today.
-Final Thoughts- Bailey Ober was solid despite the defense being sloppy. He went five innings and allwoed two runs on fiv ehits with a walk and seven strikeouts. Griffin Jax had a scoreless seventh and Emilio Pagan left the game after hitting Matt Chapman with a pitch. Jose DeLeon gave up an unearned run in two innings of work and Cole Sands put up a zero in the ninth. Matt Wallner led the team with two more hits. The Twins hit 1-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. The team will head to Houston for a three-game set against the Astros.
