i can't get my mind off of kaeya's hangout. kaeya's unending thoughtfulness and kindness. kaeya thinking of everyone from back home while he was away, missing them and going out of his way to get all of them personalized gifts. kaeya missing his family and them missing him even more. kaeya directly quoting shakespeare and thus pleasing my classic lit enthusiast self. adelinde answering the long debated question of which ragnvindr sibling was a little menace and which was the one following said menace in every step (turns out i was right amongst many who thought the same). kaeya most certainly knowing of venti's identity and venti struggling to keep his act up around him. kaeya getting albedo and klee matching gifts, a set, further emphasizing their great found family bond and his own belonging to it. crepus indulging in kaeya's shenanigans and making him his own semi-alcoholic drink as a treat. kaeya playing all the characters (the bandit, the prince...) without needing to stay in character, for it is he himself that speaks from them. adelinde knowing exactly how kaeya likes his food. kaeya - unable to get diluc's name out of his mouth - alberich. my personal headcanon of kaeya being fond of birds (enjoying birdwatching and singing to them) proving to be true. diona wanting to curse every drunkard with anemo archon's wrath not knowing that her beloved archon is a drunkard himself. kaeya's endearing and genuine love for people and being around them. the foreshadowing for kaeya's own story in the play he acted in and him admitting it resonates with him deeply, thus explaining why he knows it by heart. kaeya canonically embodying his nickname 'prince charming' and serving as an eye candy for many. kaeya's wish to rid himself of the shackles of fate, to rise above it and challenge his destiny. kaeya proudly stating his connection to diluc and crepus, without batting an eye. adelinde reminding him that he has always been one of their own, and that he always shall be. kaeya dancing the night away in a land far from home and having genuine fun. hoyoverse giving us a jeanlisa, kaebedo and kaejean moment all in the same scene. kaeya's and klee's shared childlike wonder and mutual understanding. kaeya revealing the secret behind the coin he constantly plays with. diluc memorizing every lie and excuse of kaeya's that he uses to spend time and indulge in pleasure in his rightful home. kaeya subtly implying that he only acts part-time currently (if you understand what i'm hinting at). the ending 'the grapes of warmth' being a reference to steinbeck's 'the grapes of wrath', once again pleasing my nerdy ass. diluc being protective over his staff and dawn winery family. kaeya being a typical younger sibling and taking every chance to tease the older one. venti sneezing around diona. klee's misunderstanding of the events surrounding kaeya making the situation twice as wholesome. kaeya, once more, doing everything in his power to help jean and make her work life easier. kaeya knowing the schedule of the winery staff members and diluc despite not being around as much. diluc willing to openly display another one of kaeya's gifts inside the winery. adelinde serving us a ragbros childhood story along with a nice, home-cooked meal each time we meet her. kaeya being a beloved son not only to his adoptive father, but to many. diluc's staff trying to cover for his darknight hero vigilante persona as if kaeya doesn't know about it. kaeya helping out the people in need, out of the good of his heart, no questions asked and not needing anything in return. the ragbros nation predicting plenty of scenarios, one of them being grape picking that, as it turns out, kaeya indeed participated in. venti writing kaeya a personalized poem, once again accepting him as a child of mondstadt.

Found families in this game makes me crazy and the knights are a big found family.

Ill mainly talk about Jean, Kaeya, Lisa, Klee and Amber here because I didnt play enough to find Mika yet (but im reading his lines, hes just baby sibling) bc i got bored and my computer can't take it anymore and Eula and Albedo are more like an awkward cousin.

(i will talk less of Klee bc just- everyone knows how she is :sob:)

Im going to show a few lines i want to talk about then go crazy about it.

Ok so. Starting with Jean.

Lisa:

Klee has way too many mentions of everyone sigh.

Anyways. THE RELATIONSHIPS.

You can see how everyone cares about Jean, everyone says she should rest and try to help her in the way they can.

For Kaeya, it's usually by helping her get shit together.

For Lisa, it's by inviting her for time offs and tea time.

For Amber it's a mix of both.

Klee is too young to understand how overworked is Jean, but she does know Jean can be tired.

Lisa and Jean are a special case, always together, Lisa is always inviting her for stuff, Jean is the first person Lisa sees in the morning, Jean even says Lisa makes her calm, they're a very married couple, god bless.

Kaeya and her have a fun friendship, she cares and worries for him and he does the same for her, it's mentioned in his story that sometimes she doesn't understands his methods, but she still considers him a good knight and trusts him entirely, as they were childhood friends, they probably have in each other a trust even higher than the usual.

Amber thinks extremely high of Jean, I'll explain parts of that a bit later, but you can see throufh everything, how Amber is always mentioning her, as if she wants to make Jean proud (eg: "Jean will be upset if she catches us lazying around like this") and cares about her opinion a lot. In turn, Jean seems proud of Amber and where is Amber going.

Klee seems to be a bit scared of Jean, but Jean still is extremely patient with her, despite getting her grounded for valid ass reasons, Jean cares and seems worried about Klee, and trusts her enough to help her fight sometimes, which is how Klee exploded a whole mountain.

With Lisa, things are a bit different but still fun.

Of course we have Jeanlisa being jeanlisa, Lisa always praises Jean and wants to help her, in turn, Jean has full confidence in Lisa's habilities, both magic and intelectual, so much that she lets Lisa in command whenever she's out.

Lisa and Kaeya are a funny pair, it's said that Lisa makes him do some stuff that should be her job, but they do respect each other. It doesn't have that much on this pair compared to the others.

Lisa seems to be a motherly figure of some sorts to Amber, who even mentions that Lisa tells her stories, and similar to Jean, Lisa also seems proud of Amber and wants to see where Amber is going.

Lisa and Klee are another motherly pair, where Lisa helps Klee with her explosives sometimes and Klee seems fond of Lisa.

Kaeya and his relationships are always fun because Kaeya doesn't really talk a lot about his life compared to sincerely everyone else.

As we know, Jean and Kaeya have the biggest respect and trust in each other, even when they butt heads because they're both stubborn as hell, Jean seems to respect his... Dubious methods, and he respects her decisions in return. They're the duo that if they go against you, you know you fucked up.

I did say as much as i coukd about Lisa and Kaeya already since Lisa didnt have a line about him that I could find.

Kaeya and Amber are a very... Weird pair. Amber is so wary of him, justifiable after the manga, but she still seems to trust him. She picks on him and he annoys her, but they still have a mutual respect. They're pretty much just siblings annoying each other. She says he doesn't trust her and treats her like a child, but in his voiceline about her you can see he does respect her habilities

Kaeya and Klee are also very fun. Kaeya seems to help Klee evade Jean, and help her do her things, in turn, Klee is always happy to be around him.

Amber is someone so fun to see her relationships due to unresolved abandonment issues.

She holds so much respect to Jean, and thats where i wanted to explain. In her profile it kept saying about the senior knights and how they took care of her, but she just wanted to show she is capable, so she was always wanting to go for stuff alone and during a fight, their vision towards her changed, to one of proudness once she helped with a monster.

I think at least two of those senior knights, are Jean and Lisa. Both said they saw her since they were younger and are proud of her now, and even Kaeya who "still treats her like a child" is aware of her habilities.

So they probably keep an eye on her, not out of not trusting her, just because they care. She's even part of Jean's morning routine excuse me im gnna cry.

Anyways Klee seems to treat Amber an older sibling, she loves the baron bunny and thinks Amber is very fun, Amber in turn also helps her escape from the wrath of Jean

I sincerely cant write much about Klee. Girlie is an open book 😭

But for some reason I see Klee and Qiqi as JeanLisa's bioglogical parents. Yes I know, because Klee has elf ears and Qiqi is from Liyue and albino. But I have a saying when people try to be too realistic in fanfic.

Sometimes I like to think they are biologically them, because I like the idea of Lisa or Jean pregnant but I also love to think of found families and the path one takes to get to known a child and end up loving them so much 😍🥺😭

I can so clearly see Jean and Lisa falling in love with Klee and adopting her, the first time Klee call them moms after the adoption 😍😭 or then Jean and Lisa bringing Mona home, just for a few days they say because they heard about her difficult situation and they think a teenager shouldn't be living like this, don't knowing when she will have enough to eat or a roof on her head. And then they start to love her and they argue about this love they have for her and how they want her to be theirs and then they talk with her and she is so overwhelmed because she never had a family before who wanted her she never was taken cared before. And she builds this walls between them because she doesn't know how to open up but Jeanlisa never stop trying, never stop loving her and she ends up loving them too and accept be their daughter 😭🥺

I think there is nothing greater than find a child and love them enough that you feel like them came from you.

a/n: a scene from watt/hadestown (but i go off on too many tangents in brackets)

riley steps forward. 'she can't go. she signed a contract. she belongs to the team.'

kate stares between eva and riley, and back to eva. "is it true?"

they speak in unison. 

"she does." "i do."

(kate thinks, sometimes, about eva and 'i do's and their wedding song. this is not the 'i do' she wanted. this 'i do' she dreamed of only in her nightmares, on the track to here, this hell.)

"i can't leave the team," says eva, "i signed. 90k, my scholarship, for me to be on the team. climatology, kate! any way the wind blows," she sings bitterly.

"you can't leave- please not you- not you too-" comes kate's response, words spilling, falling from her lips, the same ones she said to chess before she left and never came back and now eva is going too- there isn't even a promise to skype, to keep in touch, to let her follow- "come home with me," she begs, "we can fix it-" 

(she knows they can't. riley is the richest girl in the area. the school can't afford to lose her. 90k scholarship, fancy gym- giles corey would bend over backwards for this girl.)

eva laughs sadly. "you don't know what it's like to be hungry." 

(i have worked so hard for so much less, eva thinks, remembers being unable to study for college because she was always working, how the stress got to her. thinks about how annleigh said kate would make her feel alive- but she can't quite remember how it felt. being a tiger has dulled her inside. riley is rich, and she knows how to use the money and power she has- a world where all the wrong kids keep getting all the nice things, she thinks wildy for a moment, watching kate stare at her brokenly, and she loves kate but sometimes she doesn't get it, lost in her music, lost in her grief.)

from the side, cairo watches. 

(the memory of seeing eva flashes through her head. up on top for spring, above and away from this basement, pouring drinks for everyone in the sunshine. kate had cried, "she will always fill our cups," a praise, a challenge, a reassurance to the girl next to her, staring at this bringer of life with skepticism. cairo had noticed, and looked directly at this girl, hungry and tired, and chimed in with "i will," watching her face grow hopeful. kate grinned, strummed her song and toasted, "and we will always raise them up!")

(growing up, despite appearances, kate never hated cairo. "i'll play my song and you and riley can kiss and make up," she told cairo as a child. cairo looked at this mortal girl, fingers red from holding guitar chords, and scoffed a disbelieving "sure.") there was a frenemy sort of passive-aggressiveness between kate and cairo, and out of all the gods, cairo was one of the rare few she trusted to help. like now.

(she thinks to annleigh turning to her, looking haunted, saying that cairo and riley were behind chess's death, and her immediate reaction being to defend cairo- "cairo never hated chess!")

kate turns her head to the side, and cairo, lost in the tumultuous thoughts of an immortal who has lost so many (her mind, right now, is thinking of farrah) looks up. "cai," kate pleads, and cairo steps forward, into the dull glow of riley's basement, so different from sunlight above. riley's voice hums, a calming technique cairo taught her long ago, and cairo can nearly hear the words with the tune. "please forgive me for doing what's best for you," echoes riley's voice in her head, sad and desperate.

"riley," she starts, and her friend looks to her. riley's hands are shaking, something cairo remembers from fourth grade. "make this easier" riley sings softly, voice trembling, and looks at her.

"eva means nothing to me!" says riley, defensive, mind whirling with 'cairo must think i have a crush on eva or something and now she hates me just like i got mad at farrah when cairo started spending so much time with her but farrah was bad for her they kept getting drunk and please forgive me for doing what's best for you i love you i love you i love you please she means nothing to me it's always been you-'

and maybe the two of them know each other too well, maybe they're too in sync, because cairo looks at riley and sees how much riley cares for her, and also thinks of farrah, and the suspicions she has, and her heart breaks because she knows how to fix this and she doesn't want to do it.

"i know," cairo says (reassuring, i care for you too, do this to please me) and then, "but she means everything to her."

riley is beset with phantoms that take cairo's voice and face and rip them off, because suddenly, even though she is looking at her best friend, all she can see are ghosts.

chess floats near her face, and riley can almost feel her nonexistent breath beside her cheek. "damned if you don't", she sings, hauntingly persuasive. let them go. the guilt claws at riley's chest. she can't breathe. 

chess then glares at farrah as her double braids flop onto riley's head. with fake cheer, she somersaults through the air and grins at riley upside down. "damned if you do!" mocking, taunting. you can't win.

clark appears, broods by her side. choruses with the other two before they fade- "whole damn nation's watching you."

even as the apparitions subside, drifting in front of her instead, their song continues around riley- "what you gonna do when the chips are down, now that the chips are down?"

"here's a little tip," farrah hums, sing-song, and a bottle of belladonna wine appears in her hand.

"word to the wise," sighs chess, and suddenly her hair is filled with poppy red, flowers blooming and covering the blood from an inconspicuous stab hidden beneath her jacket.

clark, instead, seems to be spiralling, twisting the ring around his finger until it warps into a bloody knife. "here's a little snippet of advice," he sings.

three fates, always singing in the back of her mind, in front of her vision. here, they mock her. clark places the knife he is twisting before riley, and it hovers there as the spirits disappear. "men are fools, men are frail, give them the rope and they'll hang themselves."

I can't stop thinking about a scenario where kaeya gets a migraine and lisa finds him with his head in his arms at his desk and helps him through it - since jean gets migraines a lot and lisa's used to looking after her girlfriend (yes, jeanlisa is canon and no one can tell me otherwise)

maybe jean herself drops in to help kaeya out and maybe even diluc when hears that something's wrong with him. maybe jean and lisa tell him or even better he overhears some other knights talking about how the cavalry captain took an off day while bartending at the angel's share and gets concerned since kaeya never takes off days willingly

the whole story is kinda long with all the characters and sentiments but i somehow love the whole mondstadt family being there for kaeya.

and of course, the guilty pleasure of seeing kaeya suffer but then get taken care of too is always there. I just love the trope of "you're gonna suffer but you're gonna be happy about it" (i love ronald weasley).

i don't wanna pressure you or anything but i'd love it if you wrote something like this.

Chaos family grocery shopping AU - Jeanlisa

Work as Mondstadt Grand Master is a very prestigious career with a low payment. People think the Grand Master received a fat paycheck while in truth it's a normal size one and even smaller when your family has eight members.

Yes, eight.

You see, Jean married Lisa eight years ago. They was madly in love and not after long they wanted to expand the family. So they did what any couple would do, they look after adoption.

They fell in love with a little blonde girl there, Fischl her name. She looked similar to them even - with Jean's blonde hair and Lisa's green eyes. - so they spend a while with the kid and finally adopted three year old Fischl.

For two years everything was normal, only the three of them and then Fischl started to ask for a little sister. Lisa and her talked about it and well, they had space on their house for a more kid and decided to look after adoption again.

They met Klee and her little sister QiQi. The two were complete opposite but they were sisters and they would never separate them. So they adopted the two. Their family of three, expanded to five.

Fischl was happy with their Imoutos, Klee was a handful with her crazy energy and QiQi was very calm, not giving them an once of trouble.

And then,later, they decided to have a biological baby. Not because they missed anything but because Lisa wanted to experience pregnancy and Jean thought, well, why not?

When they sat and talked with the kids they liked the idea and Jean and Lisa worked - deliciously - to make a baby.

They spend a year trying to get pregnant but nothing came from it and then they met an orphan toddler who was found in the forest. They feel in love with her and well, the pregnancy thing wasn't working anyway. So they adopted little Diona.

They both thought it was it, they didn't need more children because their lifes was already too full with four kids.

Little they knew Lisa was pregnant by them. They stopped trying to get pregnant but the last time they used the potion it did work. So after adopt Diona, four month later Lisa did a check up and discovered she was pregnant.

Now, Lisa and Jean was happy, of course they were but they didn't know how they would manage one more kid. And turns out one it wasn't. No, Lisa was pregnant with twins girls.

Four months later Yayao and Sayo came to the world, bringing even more chaos and love for their little (now big) family.

So yeah, work as Mondstadt Grand Master should be a normal payment but six kids demands a lot of Moura.

She is in the kitchen, reading the journal when Lisa opens the cupboard and proclaims

L: " we need to do some grocery shopping."

Oh Barbatos have mercy of me.

It's not because the money but it's because the chaos. Grocery shopping is always an event in their home.

J: " ...sure..."

L: " I'm going to change "

And Jean thinks right now!? She wasn't prepared!

She thought that maybe, just this time, her mother could look at her kids while she were with Lisa buy stuff. But turns out her mother needs to buy things too and - " I'm too old, Jean. I need help, so I will go along with you. You will help me, right?" - Jean doesn't know how to say no to Frederica. So she promises to get her mother in the farm.

She tries to call her sister to babysit the kids but Barbara says she needs to do grocery shopping too and Rosaria couldn't go with her because she had to go to the dentist with their three year old. So Barbara says " please oneechan, I can't go grocery shopping alone, I fear I can give birth anytime." And Jean sees herself promising to pass in Barbara's house to collect her, after all her sister is either month pregnant and she worries about her.

Fearing all her other friends will want to tag along, Jean decides to just bring the kids together.

The van is packed with the kids and her mom and her sister and everybody talks so much. Even QiQi that is usually silent is talking away with her favorite auntie.

Lisa already warned Klee to stop try to cut Diona's tail - their five year old watched a show about cat trimming and now she wants to trim her sister tail at any cost. -, Fischl is babbling away with her grandma about that popular tv show with pretty girls and subtly asking for a train passage to visit her favorite idols. Jean had to stop her daughter multiple times in her smart coercive talk - " you're only eight years old, Fischl, I will not allow you to travel to Inazuma just to see pretty girls!" -.

The twins are - thankfully - sleeping in their car seat and Jean hopes they continue like this one through all the shopping.

K: " Mama, Klee wants Snickers bar."

They barely got inside the market and their five year old is jumping and grabbing sweets.

Jean takes the candy bar away, putting it on the shelf.

J: " you don't need Snickers bar. Mommy cooked a nice cake yesterday."

Klee pouts and runs away, grabbing Diona little hand.

J: " Don't get too far, you two!"

Jean warns, voice loud enough for they hear.

In the next aisle, when she is trying to get nine rice packets and load in the cart, she sees her four year old trying to get inside one woman cart.

She panics, thinking the woman will end going home with her daughter without even realizes and lefts her cart - with Yayao sucking her plastic toy - to stop the woman and apologize, while holds QiQi in her arms.

The woman just chuckles and compliments her daughter but Jean still feel her heart race.

When she is back at her cart she asks QiQi why she did it and her daughter shrugs and says she didn't want to walk.

Jean almost smacks her own head and puts her daughter inside de cart, next to the beans and sugar packages.

QiQi is happy enough to be there, making "vroom vroom " noises and imagining the cart is her car.

They manage to lose Klee and Diona - because of course those two would get lost - and have to run through the mall looking for their kids.

They find the two in the sugar aisle, Diona toeing candy paper and eating chocolates while Klee is pestering a poor woman who is offering candy samples.

Jean feels her face blushes and she hurries to apologize to the poor girl who tried to explain to Klee she couldn't sample more than ten times.

So to reduce her shame she grabs some the candy to buy and gather all of Diona's torn packages and put it on her cart ( it going to be expensive, her so we'll thought budget will bloom away ). She lifts a incrideble sugar rushed Diona and puts her in her hip, even though the toddler complains. She tries to out Klee on her cart, together with QiQi but Klee runs away from her, seeing her Grandma. She watches her five year old grab her grandma waist and show Jean's her tounge in defiance.

To the time they got to the baby's alley she is beyond tired.

It's even worse because there she finds her sister again, who parked her cart together at her wife and they are talking about baby diapers with another mother group.

There's people trying to pass them but the little group is disturbing the passage and Jean groans.

Diona fuss a lot when she sees her mommy and Jean is forced to put the toddler on the floor and watch her throw herself at Lisa. Lisa who now holds a sixth old month Sayo on her left arm and Diona on her right.

Jean approaches them and tries to hold one them but both kids start to cry when away from their mommies and well, Jean just grimaces in apologize to her wife.

Jean ends pushing two carts now.

She notices she doesn't saw her eight year old for a while when she reaches the cold section. It's usually where Fischl will ask for her favorite yogurt.

She starts to panic because although Fischl isn't a troublemaker like Klee or a little baby like Diona, she is easily influenced and most the time lives in her own little world.

When she asks her mother about Fischl, Frederica pretty much feels sick with worry, even saying she thinks she will have a heart attack because " She is my favorite!"

Jean shakes her head at her mother drama, yes she is worried about Fischl too, but she will not pass out before put eyes on her daughter.

Barbara is even worse. She pretty much runs to the administration office and demands them to find her niece because " She is beautiful and Innocent. Do you know how many people would try to kidnap a kid like that!? I watch Law and order SVU!!!"

So the market sounds an announcement asking for a eight year old blonde girl, who is wearing an eye patch - It's from one the female characters her daughter has a big crush on - to report to the administration office.

It's a confusion by then because Jean is worried and tired and Yayao is waking up from her cart seat and waiting to be fed but Lisa forgot bring the baby bottle so she is breastfeeding Sayo and Yayao hates to wait.

Klee can't stop talking about the rabbit plushie she saw a little early and " please mama, klee needs it!"

And Jean says " you already have ten rabbit plushies, Klee. You don't need eleven." And it is the kinda answer that makes Klee open her mouth loud and throw a big tranturm.

By the time Fischl appears everybody is tired and annoyed and so relieved she showed up.

Later, when Lisa asks their daughter where she was, Fischl says she saw a aisle with magazines of her favorite idol and she lost the time reading it. It's so typical Fischl they can't bring themselves to be mad.

Three hundred Moura later, they load the van with their groceries, put sleeping kids on their car seats - Diona collapsed first after run through the aisles burning out all her sugar rush energy. Sayo and Yayao did go back to sleep after their feeding time. Fischl got inside the car with her magazine (they bought it for her because she really wanted it and well, they understand what is have a big crush in female idols.)and while waited for everyone pack the car, ended up sleeping. Klee slowed down and slept on her baba's arms and QiQi pretty much slept for all the confusion inside the shop. - and do their usual count.

J: " Fischl is here, Sayo and Yayao too. klee is here, Diona is sleeping...Hm...Where is QiQi?"

Lisa brings their daughter in her arms, sleeping and drooling adorably.

L: " QiQi is here too."

They out her in her car seat and after Barbara and her mother get inside they finally breath easily. It's already mid afternoon, they had lunch inside the market and are finally ready to go back home.

J: " I swear at each trip to the mall, things gets more chaotic."

Lisa laughs and kisses her cheek.

L: " Yeah but I wouldn't have it any other way. You too right?"

Jean thinks about it for a little second. It's a lot of work, six children and an ever expanding family (Barbara and Rosaria time to turn the family even bigger with little three year old Razor and the baby girl inside her sister belly) and also a dramatic mother. But she indeed wouldn't change it for nothing.

They are her everything, they are the most important people in her life and she can't imagine how life could be without one of them.

Jean hugs Lisa's waist, nosing her cheek.

J: " Yeah... Our life is pretty good."

From the car a knock sound against the glass and she turns to see her mother point to the clock.

F: " c'mon you two, I have a kitchen to organize!"

Jean groans and laughs and thinks to herself she is pretty lucky, even with a mother that thinks she is her maid.
