"She's not wrong," Laurel agreed with a reluctant nod. It did irk her more than she wanted to admit. "But, staying on her good side seems to be the route for now, at least until we know more." She knew it was best to not let it show though, and she did hope that was the case. That she was able to mask it well. Leaving that flirting avenue open may come in handy eventually, all of this - Laurel knew, logically. But, her heart couldn't be reasoned with. "You are allowed to feel everything, shouldn't, doesn't really count when it comes to feelings. That is a bummer, I'm sorry. Maybe with time, you know." She didn't mention what she had noticed earlier, Laurel could almost swear Isaac had been jealous earlier. And Eli had mentioned, there was something there, hence this whole dinner idea. But, mentioning it now didn't seem like it'd do any good, just bring her hopes up. "Friends is a good start, Eli and I were friends for years."
Laurel was quick to shake her head and offer her a smile. "No, please I don't mind at all. I could honestly use the company. The apartment can get pretty lonely sometimes. Not much, to be honest, and not a lot of boredom. I'm usually pretty tired from work myself, so I watch a lot of tv waiting for him to come back. I have a hard time sleeping unless he's here, so there's some long nights. Call a friend, if she's not busy working too. Too tired to get bored, I suppose." A laugh escaped her at the question, and honestly, even the fact that she was quoting Jazz. "It's cool if you do think so. He is pretty hot," that was just a fact, really. "I know who I'm with. Someone pointing out his attractiveness doesn't bother me, really just the shameless flirting. But, to answer your question, I do," a casual shrug as if it was the most normal thing to admit. "He does look really good in uniform, so you know. Always works for me." Of course, Laurel had gotten caught up in conversation and completely neglected dinner. She was quick to stand up at the mention of eating. "Yes, of course. That's on me, I meant to ask earlier and my brain just had a moment. And please - you are never a bother. We're really happy to have you here." Laurel grabbed the pasta salad bowl and brought it to the table, along with plates. Then, turning back to grab the other dishes they had prepared. "You have feelings for him, of course you're worried. He chose some...sweet, docile version of her. Doesn't seem to be the real version though. We'd probably all be less worried if he knew all of her."
Once the plate was served, Laurel handed it to her and took a seat across from her. She clocked the fact that Nettie preferred to continue talking about her and Eli, rather than their messy friend and his girlfriend. Fair enough. The topic was not very cheery. "Hm, yep. He's been there a little while now. Well, we haven't had the chance to go the last few times it's been hosted. Something always comes up for us, we have gone to the holiday party though. That's so great that you volunteer there, I'm surprised he hasn't seen you around. We probably could've met earlier if we'd gone. You've been volunteering a while? This year for sure, we'll be there."
Leaving their place with a new view of his girlfriend was the last thing Isaac expected. It changed a lot. Everything she said, every reaction of hers was currently viewed through a new lens. For better or worse, he could keep the facade of good boyfriend, even if his mind was currently all over the place. Starting with that moment before they left. She had to have known what she was doing, but why mess with him this way? Did it go back to Nettie? Isaac wasn't too sure, but he did know that watching her flirt with his best friend bruised his ego in a way that hadn't happened before. It had to be some tactic, something to throw him off. Still, despite his attempts to justify it, he couldn't help the snarky comment that slipped past him.
"I guess we don't have to...talk about them." Lucky that she wanted to distract him instead of hearing how she flirted. Oh, now she wanted him? Funny. But, he had to keep up. What a job he ended up with. So, he cleared his throat, feigning a dazed feeling. Caught up in the way her hand was brushing against his lap. "I could be convinced to put my mouth to work," his teasing nature quickly rising to the surface, it was easier to default there. After all, Isaac figured where this was going. She wasn't really the most discreet person in the world. "Right now? Jazz, comeβwe're almost home." But, it wasn't a request. He knew. Even as her fingers expertly tugged his zipper down, when his hands were still on the wheel. "Okay okay," he said breathlessly, swiftly swerved off the main road, making a left turn into a quiet street. One behind his building. The car was quickly parked, at least in this area, he could still rely on his attraction to her. "Come here," he audibly whispered, pulling his seat back before his hand laid on her waist, motioning her to move to the driver's seat.
"She knows it upsets you. That's where the control comes from." She shrugged and sighed. "I'm fine considering. I feel heartbroken. I know I shouldn't because he was never mine to begin with but you know, kind of a bummer that I happened to fall for a guy who was unavailable. Worse that he doesn't see me like anything more than a former fuck buddy and now friend."
The invite to stay had her smiling and accepted. "If you are sure you don't mind. I have a few questions. What do you do when your man has to go? Do you ever get bored? I hate quoting jazz but do you ever get hot thinking about being with a firefighter? Not that I think Eli is hot or anything. Just a question." Nettie moved around and sat at an available seat and looked around. 'I don't mean to be a bother but could we eat? That pasta salad you were making looked really good." She laughed and bit her lip. "You got it easy. I feel for Issac. He doesn't know what he's in for. I don't know why I'm so worried about him. He did choose her."
"Going back to Eli. I didn't know he was part our fire department. Rather I never see him around when I volunteer for the potluck. Do you guys go?" Eli and Laurel seemed an easier topic than the mess that was Issac and his love life and she really was interested to know.
Jazz felt the atmosphere in the car and smirked to herself. She loved chaos and when she caused it that turned her on. She wasn't dumb and knew it had affected Issac's ego to have her shamlesssly flirt with his best friend. Something about it seemed so taboo but so fun. Issac was her only one but not that he knew that. She did well pretending she was the good girlfriend.
Humming she reached her hand to his lap and twirled her fingers against him. "Do we really need to be talking about your friends when we can use that pretty mouth of yours for much more?" She was never one to give him a blowjob or head, she liked making him think he had control. Most always he was the one pleasuring her. This time was no different.
"Pull over." It wasn't a question it was a directive. Something he needed to follow and obey. Her fingers tugged his zipper down and felt around for his dick. "Got a better idea."
