This guy spawned before I managed to knock out the 60 Pokemon that ups the shiny spawn rate of outbreaks!

So. I made some side blogs.

Going to be trying something different this year. I've made two side blogs to try and keep me busy and stimulated so I don't doom scroll every day.

The first is @jayinkshinydex which will be documenting my process of attempting to complete a Shiny Living Pokedex.

The second is @inksmearedpages which is where I plan on posting summaries, snippets, and other random things from the fanfic ideas I won't ever have the time to fully write. I will also be posting all future finished writing there as well.

They're both pretty empty at the moment but I hope to get some stuff up for them soon. Feel free to follow if you want!

Welcome to JayInk's Shiny Living Dex!

Hello! My name is JayInk! (Feel free to call me Jay or Ink.)

I've recently been made aware of my relatively unnatural good luck when it comes to finding Shiny Pokemon. So I've decided to try and make a complete Shiny Living Dex.

This side blog will be dedicated to documenting my journey through this process. Statistics, strategies, stories, screenshots, and general thoughts will be posted periodically. While this is mostly for personal use, I hope anyone who follows along will enjoy themselves!

Some rules and guidelines for this challenge:

No hacked, emulated, or computer generated Pokemon, obviously

That said, Event and Mystery Gift Pokemon are fair game

Most Alternate Forms that don't revert or require a hold item will count as their own Pokemon

Regional Forms will count towards the Generation they were introduced, ie, Alolan Vulpix counts as a Gen 7 Pokemon, Galarian Zigzagoon counts as Gen 8 Pokemon, ect.

Challenge ends once all Pokemon that are possible to obtain as shiny have been obtained

Shiny Stufful Get!

GO - Nickname: Sunny - Male - Random Encounter - Full Odds

Opened GO to transfer some Shiny Pokemon to HOME and decided to check the naturally spawning Pokemon around me. Was very surprised to discover that the Stufful was Shiny!

Emergency Change to the Current Shiny Hunt List Theme

With Nintendo announcing the end of Online Services for the 3DS happening this April, I have made the executive decision to temporarily suspend the current Year of the Dragon Types theme.

While they state that the Poke Transporter and Pokemon Bank will remain online even after this date, it's only a matter of time before those are shut off as well.

With that in mind, there are currently 11 Pokemon that can only be caught on DS titles; 9 of which I have access to games to shiny hunt them. So the new emergency hunt theme shall be:

Escape From the Nintendo DS!

As stated, this list only has 9 Pokemon:

Patrat Watchog Pansage Simisage Pansear Simisear Panpour Simipour Furfrou

These Pokemon do not appear in any Switch title and must be shiny hunted on DS or 3DS games. This will be exceptionally difficult as all games before Gen 8 require the completion of the National Dex to acquire the Shiny Charm. However, with such a short list I'm hoping that it won't take too long to finish and return to the Year of the Dragon Types.

There is also the possibility of hunting the Mirage Spot Legendaries in ORAS, and the Ultra Beast in Ultra Sun, but we'll see how long it takes to complete this list first.

Shiny Goomy Get!

Legends: Arceus - Male - Overworld Spawn - Full Odds/Perfected Pokedex

Spawned in at the Crimson Mirelands near the Alpha Hisuian Sliggo at the Holm of Trials.

Okay, I've made some decent progress on the current Year of the Dragon Types hunt list. With only 16 Pokemon left and all the easy ones using Herba Mystica Sandwiches out of the way, I feel it's time to discuss strategy.

Hisuian Sliggoo and Goodra need to be Mass Outbreak hunted in Legends Arceus. I'll be hunting them next as it will be a nice change of pace from Sandwich hunting.

Then I'll need to move on to Sword in order to Overworld Random Encounter hunt two Tyrunt in order to evolve one into Tyrantrum.

Following that, I will be staying in Sword in order to Masuda Breed Turtonator, Drampa, and Druddigon as they're either rare overworld spawns or grass random encounters in specific weather only.

Then comes two tricky ones: Dracozolt and Dracovish. As they can't be bred, I'll need to mass revive them by farming their fossils from the digging brothers. That will require a lot of watts and soft resetting and I imagine will take the most time.

We return back to Scarlet to Masuda Breed the Bagon and Dreepy lines as I do not own Violet to Sandwich hunt them in.

Finally, I will be Sandwich Hunting Roaring Moon. This is hard as it shares both its types with Zweilous which can also spawn in the cave it appears in.

I expect the Breeding and Fossil Reviving to take the most time out of these hunts which is why I'm saving them for last. Hopefully I can finish this list within the first half of the year.

Current Hunt Theme 01/14/2024

Instead of focusing on one Pokemon at a time, I'm going to be making a list of Pokemon to hunt based off certain themes.

The current theme is:

2024 - The Year of the Dragon Types

To celebrate the Year of the Dragon, the current hunt list is made up of all non-legendary Dragon types! I've already made some good progress, but that is mostly thanks to how ridiculously powerful Herba Mystica Sandwiches and Mass Outbreaks in Scarlet are. We'll see how long it takes to complete this theme once I get to the ones I need to breed.
