Emma got out of the shower, then went into the balcony. Jade looked at her and let out a breath.
“ How are you doing? “
Emma leaned against the railing and let out a soft sigh.
“ I’m good. I mean I can’t say it’s not crazy, but I’m more curious that freaked. “
“ I’ll tell you whatever you want to know. “ Jade smiled.
“ I wanna know everything. “ Emma smiled.
They went and sat on the couch and Jade told her everything about the life that she walked away from.
“ So that’s what happened. “ Emma stated.
“ What? “
“ With you and Sam. “
“ That life isn’t for everyone. After a while. everything that you bottled up, explodes. You can’t have a normal relationship, you sleep in different run down motels every night. “
“ But you saved people Jay, You can’t tell me that, that doesn’t outweigh all of that stuff. “
Jade couldn’t help but smile, it really did outweigh all of the crap that came along with that life.
Dean checked out the upstairs while Sam checked the main level. Dean stepped into the last room when the door slammed shut.
“ Dean. “ Sam yelled running up the stairs.
“ Sam. “ Dean yelled back, pounding on the door.
Sam started kicking in the door when he seen a bright blue light.
“ Dean. “ He yelled once more.
With one more kicked, the door came down and Sam was standing in an empty room.
“ Dammit Dean. “
He pulled out his phone and made a few calls After trying a few hunters, he hesitated then dialed another number. Jade pulled the blanket off her head and with her eyes still closed, she reached and answered her phone.
“ Yeah. “
“ Jade. “
Her eyes opened as she sat up.
“ Sam, it’s almost 4 am. “
“ Dean’s gone. “
“ What? “
“ We were working that ghost case the door slammed shut, there was a blue light and then he was gone. “
Jade took in a deep breath, a lot more awake then she was a minute ago.
“ I called 4 other hunters and I... I wouldn’t ask for your help if I didn’t need it. “
“ Where are you? “ She asked pulling on her jeans and boots.
“ Ridge Drive 3652 “
“ Saint Louis? “
“ Yeah. “
“ Meet me at the diner on 46th street. I’ll be there as soon as I can. “ She ended the call. She pulled her hair into a bun, then opened up her closet. She pushed her clothes t o the side and pressed on the wall. The space in the wall was filled with all of her hunting stuff. She let out a breath, then started packing her bag. Emma seen her light on and poked her head inside.
“ What are you still doing up? “
Emma stopped when she seen all the stuff in the wall.
“ Jade, what is that? “
Jade zipped her bag up and threw it on the bed.
“ That’s my old life. “
“ What’s going on?” She asked, looking at the bag on the bed.
“ I just got a call from Sam. “
“ What happened? “ Emma felt this growing worry in her stomach.
“ Dean disappeared. Sam can’t find him anymore. “
“ So you’re going to help him. “
“ He’s out of options and well tracking was my thing when I hunted.. “Jade said, tossing the bag over her shoulder.
“ Keep the windows and doors salted, I’ll be back as soon as we find Dean. “
Emma hesitated then followed after her.
“ I’m coming. “
Jade let out a little laugh.
“ No, you’re not. This isn’t a game Emma. “
In on motion, Emma pulled the gun from Jade’s pocket and pointed at her.
“ And I’m not playing. “
After a second, she flipped the gun and held it out to her.
“ Jade, I have a perfect shot and I’m quick. I can help. “
Jade looked at her, hesitating.
“ We can argue, but we’d just be wasting time. “
Emma took in a deep breath and Jade seen the emotion on her face.
“ He saved my life Jade. “
“ You need to listen and trust what I say Em. “ She said walking out the front door.
Emma tucked the gun in her pants, and followed behind Jade. After the long drive, they made it to the diner. When Jade walked in, Sam got to his feet.
“ You made good time. “
Sam seen Emma get out of the car and focused back on Jade.
“ What is she doing here? “
Jade let out a breath, she knew he wasn’t going to be happy about this.
“ She’s a good shot and she’s smart Sam. “
Emma could see the furry on Sam’s face when she came inside.
“ I can help Sam. “ Was all she said.
“ This isn’t something you deal with everyday. “
“ Neither is spending 3 years in Irac with the Special Forces. “
Sam looked at her.
“ Dean is going to be pissed. “
“ Lwt him be. “ Emma said, going over to the bar.
“ You do know that. “
“ That if anything happens to her, it’s on me, I know. “
They sat down at a table and she continued.
“ To be completely honest, I’m not really worried about her Sam. “
Sam let out a breath.
“ So did you find anything at the house? “ Jade asked, changing the subject.
Sam took out his phone and brought up a picture.
“ I found this on one of the walls. “
“ Angel banishing? “
“ A what? “ Emma asked, setting a beer in front of both of them, and sitting next to Jade.
“ It sends Angels to, well we don’t know where it sends them. “
“ Angels are real? “
“ And major dicks. “
“ So what do they want with Dean? “
“ It’s always something different. “ Sam took a long drink from the bottle.
“ So how do we kill them? “
“ Crash course. An Angel can get into your head ad mess with your mind. These things are extremely powerful. They can do things, you couldn’t even think of. And the only thing that can kill one is this. “
Sam set the Angel blade on the table in front of Emma.
“ And that is? “
“ It’s called an Angel Blade. “ Jade said.
They filled her in and then went to a motel down the road.
“ I’m gonna make a few calls. “ Jade said, going outside.
“ How long did you serve? “ Sam asked, as Emma put her bag on one of the beds.
“ 6 years. “
She sat down and looked at him.
“ Listen Sam, I didn’t give her a choice. Your brother saved my life. I was coming with or without her permission. “
“ I think I know where he is. “ Jade shut the door behind her.
“ That was fast. “ Emma laughed.
“ I told you, it’s kinda what I do. “ She smirked.
“ Guss tussled with an Angel yesterday. “
“ Where? “
“ Bar, 2 hours away. “
“ God, you’re good. “ Sam said, kissing her forehead.
“ Let’s go. “
Dean slowly opened his eyes and seen a tall brunette with big green eyes.
“ Dean Winchester, you are on hard Hunter to track down. “
She leaned down and looked him in the eyes.
“ I’ve been looking for you everywhere. “
“ Well ya found me. “ Dean grunted through the pain in his body.
“ I have to say, they told me you were attractive, but well that’s an understatement. “
“ Who are you? “ Dean asked.
“ My name is Bridget. “
“ And what did I do to piss you off Bridget? “ Dean asked, with that cocky attitude of his.
“ Well it wasn’t you per say, but you can be very useful. “
Dean pulled on a smirk.
“ Are you gonna kill me or seduce me, cause I’m getting mixed signals here. “
Bridget smirked then sat on his lap, face to face with him.
“ I’m looking for someone and I know that you know where she is. “
“ And who might that be? “
She pulled back with a smirk of her own, pulling at her lips.
“ She’s about 5 foot 3, long red hair and goes by the name Rebecca. “
Dean’s heart skipped a beat when he heard that name, but let out a laugh.
“ She’s dead, I burned her body myself. “
“ You might have, but she’s not dead. A little Demon told me that she’s off living some normal life. “
Dean just looked into the eyes looking back at him.
“ Well if she is, I don’t know where. “
She got up from his lap and picked up the Angel blade. Before she could do anything, Jade and Sam busted into the room. She turned and smiled at them.
“ Look Dean, the whole gang is here. “
“ Just in time for the show. “
When she moved towards Dean, Jade was the one to pull out her gun and spoke.
“ Why don’t we just have a little chat. “
“ Actually I was talking to this handsome devil. “ She smiled, running the blade down Dean’s chest. Sam instantly took out his gun when Dean screamed.
“ Who are you and what do you want with my brother? “ Sam askd.
“ My name is Bridget and I;m looking for someone and he’s gonna tell me where she is. “
“ And she is? “
“ Someone I need to get my hands on. “
Sam looked at Dean.
“ Rebecca. “ Dean stated.
“ Rebecca’s dead. “
“ You really have been out of the loop. “ Bridget laughed.
“ What are you talking about? “
“ I don’t know how, or why, but your little redheaded friend is up and walking. “
“ And what do you want with her? “ Jade demanded.
Bridget’s smirk grew bigger and she ran the blade down Dean’s cheek.
“ She took someone from me and when I find her, I’m going to take my time killing her. “
Her eyes shot to Jade.
“ Something you apparently couldn’t do. “
Jade pulled the trigger and put a bullet in the middle of her forehead. In one motion, Bridget had Sam and Jade up against the wall. She walked over to them her back to Dean.
“ It didn’t have to be like this, but you just had t o get trigger happy. “ Bridget said, pulling the bullet from her head.
“ For that, I’m going to let you two watch as I peel his skin off. “ She walked back over and stood behind Dean. She leaned down and put her lips to his ear.
“ You’re little girl friend drove an Angel blade through my father’s heart back in Nevada, ten years ago today. “
Dean thought for a minute.
“ Lucifer was your father? So you’re a mutt. “Dean smirked.
“ Bridget had the blade right by his heart.
“ I’m going to enjoy this. “ She whispered.
Right then, Emma came from behind her and stabbed her Angel blade into her back. The blue light went off and her body fell to the floor. The moment she dropped, so did Sam and Jade.
“ Yeah, I doubt you enjoyed that. “ Emma said looking at her.
She bent down to untie Dean and her eyes locked with his. She could tell he was beyond pissed.
“ You can yell at me after we get the hell out of here. “
Dean glared at his brother, as Sam walked out with Emma. Jade knew he was furious.
“ Dean listen. “
“ Why in the hell would let her come here? “
“ She just saved all our asses Dean, give her a little credit. “
Dean looked at her for a second, then went outside.
“ So do you think what she was saying about Becca was true? “ Sam asked.
“ We burned her body Sam, it’s impossible. “
“ Is it though? “ Jade asked.
The brother’s looked at her as she continued.
“ You couldn’t die with the mark on your arm. Rebecca was in a hell of a lot deeper than you. She became a Dark Angel. You toasted Abbadon too but look how well that worked out. “
Dean shook his head.
“ Don’t you think we would have heard of something by now if she was? “ Dean shot back.
“ Let’s just get to the bunker and we can talk about this. “
Dean didn’t say anything, but got into Baby and sped off.
“ If she’s walking, you can track her. “ Sam looked at Jade.
“ I’ll see what I can do, but Sam if she’s alive how much of that is really her? “
“ Then we cross that bridge when we come to it. “
Jade took in a deep breath, then got into the car. Sam and Emma followed her to the bunker. Everything was going through Dean’s mind as he stepped into the bunker. He poured himself a glass of Whiskey and downed it. About twenty minutes later, Jade, Sam and Emma walked down the long stairs. Sam and Jade went into the kitchen, but Emma stayed back and looked at Dean.
“ What, you’re not going to yell at me? “
Dean’s green eyes locked with hers.
“ You don’t chose this life Em. Why in the hell would you get involved in this? “
“ I’m a big girl Dean, I can make my own decisions.”
“ People don’t last long in this life Emma. “
“ Yeah and I could die in a car accident tomorrow, that’s life. So if I’m going down, I’m going down fighting. You can be pissed at me, but weither you like it or not, I’m apart of this now. “ She said storming off in the direction Sam and Jade went off in.
Dean let out a frustrated groan, then shot back the rest of his Whiskey then went and took a hot shower. Sam grabbed a beer and held it out to Emma.
“ Thanks. “ She took a big drink.
“ You did good. “
“ Wanna tell Dean that. “ She laughed.
“ Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think you should be here, but I can’t say I’m not grateful for you saving our asses back there. “
He kissed Jade’s forehead then left them in the kitchen.
“ How are you doing? “ Jade asked.
“ Ten hours ago, I didn’t even know that Angels were real and now I can say that I killed one. I know that, that wasn’t even a small fraction of what you 3 have seen it’s just. “
“ Unbelievable. “ Jade laughed.
“ I guess you could use that word. “
“ Come on, I’ll show you to your room, this place is huge. “
After looking over the room, Emma got curious and roamed the bunker. After about 10 minutes, she found herself in the the huge library. She read through some of the books, sitting down on one of the couches in the room. There was so much she didn’t know about. She set the book down and picked up another one and got lost in it. About an hour later, Dean came into the room. He took in a breath and poured himself a drink.
“ Freaked out yet? “
Emma looked at him.
“ Dean this place is incredible. “
She shook her head and sat the book beside her.
“ Am I scared as hell that there are horrible things out there, yes. “ She got to her feet but Dean spoke before she could continue.
“ Listen, I never did thank you for saving my ass back there. “
“ Let’s call it even. “
He smiled, then passed her a drink. They sat down and Dean told her his story.
Sam laid awake in bed, thinking about everything that had happened in the past 24 hours. About two hours later, he got up and noticed that Jade’s light was still on.
“ Hey. “ He said, pocking his head into her room.
Jade pulled her hair out of the bun with a soft smile.
“ What are you still doing up? “
He came inside and let out a breath.
“ I’m sorry. “
“ For? “ She asked.
“ Dragging you back into all of this. “
She shook her head and sat on the bed.
“ I never thought I would say it. “
She hesitated.
“ But I missed it. “
She looked around her room with a smile.
“ This place, you and Dean. But it’s just not the same without. “
“ Rebecca, I know. “ He said softly.
She ran her fingers through her hair, then opened her computer. Sam sat down and looked at what she had.
“ Sam if we find her, and it’s not her. “
Sam put his hand on her cheek.
“ You don’t have to do this. “
“ Yes I do. “
He leaned in and kissed her softly. She put her forehead to his and let out a breath. This is where she belonged. This place, with him.
“ I love you Sam. “ She whispered.
He let out a shaky breath as those words made all of those walls he had built up come crashing down. He waited years for her to say them.
“ I love you too. “
Back in the library, Dean and Emma were still talking.
“ Wow, you really have been to hell and back. “ She laughed.
“ And a whole lot more. “ Dean poured her another drink.
“ How do you carry pretty much the whole world on your shoulders and still keep it together? “
Dean took a drink and smirked.
“ Trust me Em, there’s so much broken in me, I’m far from having myself together. “
Emma took a drink then looked at him.
“ I’d say you’re doing alright. “
“ It’s not an easy life, hence the Scotch. “ He smiled.
They talked for a few more hours until Sam into the room.
“ You guys are up early. “ He said.
“ Early? “ Emma asked.
“ Yeah, it’s 6 am. “ He said putting his headphones in and going for his morning run.
Emma let out a little laugh then set her glass on the counter.
“ Alright, I’m going to shower then try to catch a few hours of sleep. “
He stood up when he she did.
“ Good idea. “
Before she stepped into the hallway, she looked back at him.
“ Thanks for the chat. “
She smiled, then kissed him softly. He watched her walk out of the room, hesitated then followed after her.
“ Hey. “ He said before she opened the door to her room.
She turned and looked at him. He put his hand on his waist and kissed her passionately. They looked at each other for a few seconds then Emma was the one who kissed him back. Without breaking their lips, Dean reached behind her, opened the door and she led him inside.
When Sam came back from his run, Jade was pouring a cup of coffee.
“ I didn’t wake you did I? “ Sam asked, catching his breath.
“ No. “ She passed his a cup.
He couldn’t help but smile. He could get used to this all over again.
“ So get this, Dean and Emma were up all night talking. “
Jade sat down with a smile.
“ They really have hit it off.
“ For the first time in a long time, he seems happy. “
Jade looked at him as she took a drink.
“ What? “
“ Sam if we find Rebecca, what do you think that’s going to do to him? “
Sam took in a breath and leaned against the table.
“ God knows I miss her Sam but. “
She hesitated.
“ If she is alive and hasn’t come back, maybe there’s a reason for that. “
“ I just want to know if she’s alright, if she’s alive. “
She let out a breath.
“ I’ve got 6 looking for her. If we find her we can go from there. “
“ Are you sure you want to do this? “
Jade set her mug down with a smile.
“ I’ve had 2 years or normal and I think that’s enough. “
Sam smiled when she did. Her heart skipped a beat when he looked at her.
“ What? “
“ Nothing, I’ve just missed you Sam. “
He took her hand, she walked over and sat on his lap.
“ I’ve missed you too. “
Sam wrapped his arms around her waist and her’s found his neck. Right then Sam knew he could never let her go again. Emma laid there, trying to catch her breath. She looked over at Dean as he sat up and ran his fingers through his hair. Her heart fluttered. She didn’t want to admit it, but she knew she was falling for this man. She sat up and put her hair in a ponytail. Dean was feeling way more than he liked. He got dressed and looked at her.
“ So listen. “
“ Don’t get attached. “ She laughed.
“ Don’t worry Dean, I don’t get attached. “
“ I’m gonna go shower. “
She kissed his cheek then went into the bathroom. Dean hesitated then went to his room and got some sleep. The next couple months, they taught Emma the ropes while Jade tried to track Rebecca down.

if you're still taking prompts, could you write a Jaylos little red riding hood AU? like Cruella sends Carlos to deliver goodies for his grandma and he encounters wolf!Jay on his way there.. i think that'd be cute lol
I am always taking jaylos prompts my good friend. Though I’m not sure this is 100% Jaylos, might be more pre-jaylos than anything…I hope you like it! Maybe I’ll continue it if there’s an interest? It was actually fun to write lol
warnings for blood I guess? It’s not bad.

“Don’t stop anywhere’s. If you stop, I’ll know. If you dawdle? I’ll know. If you take one step off the path from here to Granny’s, I. Will. Know. Do you understand?”
Carlos stood silently in the entrance to Hell Hall, his fingers curled tightly around the handle to the large basket that his mother had shoved into his grasp. He gave a curt nod, jumping slightly as a red cloak was shoved into his arms, his mother’s hand reaching out to grasp his chin in her thin, long nailed fingers.
“I understand, mother. To Granny’s and back. Nowhere else, no stopping. She’s expecting me this time?” His mother snorted, releasing his chin and giving him a shove towards the doorway, gesturing for him to put on the cloak. Setting down the basket, he pulled the cloak over his head, fastening it at the collar and picking up the basket once more before moving to push open the door.
“She knows you’re on your way. Remember the consequences if you don’t return with what I want, Carlos.” He nodded, slipping out the door to make his way down the stairs towards the woods that surrounded the estate. Years spent travelling the long, twisting path between his mother’s home- not his, never his- and Granny’s Fur’s and Leathers on the outskirts of the woods had left him with little fear of the dark trees and darker inhabitants of the Fae Woods. Fear was not, after all, a wolf’s howl or the bandits that hid along the route; fear was his mother’s disappointment and the creative punishments she would come up with, fear was the sensation that he would always be under her thumb. The trail began on a stone pathway (twenty eight blue grey flagstones set into the earth) and faded into dirt, no real markers besides a clearing of fauna on well trod earth. He followed the path, stepping over stones and logs, glad that his mother had sent him early enough in the day that he had enough light to travel by without worrying about tripping in the dark.
Peering into the basket, he frowned as he noted the size of the coin bag; the pile of furs he would be returning with would most likely be heavy, and he didn’t look forward to the walk back with them. He didn’t particularly want to deal with Granny herself, either- the woman was ancient and terrible, smelling like urine and the tanning chemicals she used to treat the leathers she made while treating him like the next animal to wind up under her knife- but he had little choice in the matter. Had he refused, Cruella would have made him regret it, perhaps by way of the cellar or one of her many fur closets, lined with bear traps.
“Hello, little boy.” He jumped, startled at the sudden voice, and clutched the basket closer to himself, tucking it under his hood some as he glanced around.
“If you’re a bandit, I’ve got a knife and I’m not afraid to use it.” It was a lie, of course; Cruella would never give him anything he could possibly use against her, but the stranger who owned the voice need not know that. There was a chuckle from his left, and he turned slightly to face the trees clustered near where the voice had come from, eyes scanning the area for whoever had spoken.
“I’m not a bandit, dude.” Narrowing his eyes, Carlos backed into a tree, eager to have something solid at his back as he pulled his cloak tighter. There was a rustle, and then to his horror a large, black furred wolf stepped onto the path. He had never like canines- dogs, wolves, anything close to the sort terrified him to the point of being frozen most times. The wolf was huge; larger than any animal he’d ever seen, for sure, and certainly larger than his fifteen year old self.
“No, I can very much see that. You can just stay there then, that’s alright. I still have that knife after all.” His voice barely wavered, and his fingers tightened on his basket once more. The wolf stalked towards him, unheeding of his words as it’s nose sniffed the air, and he felt the rumble of the animal’s laugh as he pressed back into the tree more.
“You don’t have a knife. Don’t worry, little boy, I’m not going to eat you if that’s what you’re scared of. I don’t like eating people.” Carlos wasn’t sure he believed that, but he had little time to consider it as the wolf took a leap towards him. Bringing his arms up to cover his face he whimpered, waiting for strong jaws to clamp down around him, for the sharp pain so familiar to him to sweep over him. When nothing seemed to happen, he slowly lowered his arms, frowning as he took in the sight before him. Where once had been a wolf stood a boy perhaps two years older than him, long dark hair the colour of the wolf’s fur tied up at the top of his head.
“What….who are you? Where is the wolf?” Letting his gaze dart around, he noted that the animal seemed to have disappeared completely. The boy grinned at him, wide and toothy as he gave a little mock bow.
“The name is Jay, and I am the wolf. The wolf is me. I didn’t think it was that complicated to understand, I jumped as a wolf and then I was a boy. I thought you were suppose to be smart? Mal’s always saying that Evie says you’re a genius, but if you can’t even figure that out…” Carlos’ brow furrowed, and he let his grip on the basket loosen some.
“You know…Evie?” The dark haired girl spent time with him in the few classes his mother had allowed him to attend, always nice and wanting to make sure he was okay. Jay nodded, crossing his arms over his chest as he watched Carlos, his eyes flitting from the hood still pulled over Carlos’ head to the younger teen’s face.
“We’re friends. She asked me to come check on you, actually, she was worried when your mother pulled you from school today.” Clever eyes traced over his body, and Carlos tugged the cloak tighter around himself, frown deepening. “We’ve been watching over you for awhile now, you know.” Strong hands moved to pull on the cloaks ties, and Carlos attempted to step back against the tree more, startled at the movement. “Everyone in these woods knows about Cruella de Vil’s little pup. You’re pretty…famous around here.” Carlos raised a brow, less scared of the teen than he had been of the wolf by far. He knew how to deal with humans, for the most part; and the boy before him had far duller teeth than the wolf had.
“I can’t say that’s encouraging. If you’ll excuse me, I have to make it to Granny’s and back before dinner time. Mom doesn’t like being served after six.” Jay frowned, moving as though to stop Carlos as he turned to begin down the trail again, retying his cloak as he swiftly moved past the older boy.
“Hey, no, wait, let me walk you at least. Evie would murder me if I let you walk alone when Mal’s in one of her moods.” Carlos gave him a blank look before he began walking again, and Jay quickly fell in step with him as they headed towards Granny’s. They walked silently for a good section of the path, Jay only speaking to offer to take the basket for Carlos when it began to get cumbersome for the smaller teen and Carlos only responding with simple refusals.
“Who is Mal?” Jay tilted his head, glancing at Carlos as they turned down the straightway that lead to Granny’s.
“Do you know the rumor about the dragon in the forest?” Carlos nodded, and Jay smirked at him. “That’s Mal. She’s fae kin, likes to roam around as a dragon to scare the shit out of the bandits around here. I’m honestly surprised you haven’t seen her, to be honest. She’s pretty partial to tailing you when you’re walking back late at night.” Carlos shrugged, and Jay gave a little hum. “I like following you when you’re not wearing this damn cloak. Did your mom have it magicked to smell like dead animals and blood, or is the scent just a natural aroma for you?” Carlos winced, one hand moving to play with the ties of his cloak as he kept his gaze steadily ahead of him.
“I sleep in a fur closet full of bear traps. This is my only blanket. The smell of the dead furs was bound to seep into it, and the blood is from me. Any more needlessly stupid questions, or can we continue this hellish walk you’re intent on forcing me to go through? I already told you, I have to get back before supper time. You may be free to run around the woods at all hours, but I don’t have that luxury. So. Shall we?” He gestured ahead of him, and Jay frowned, staring at him for a long minute before taking a few steps forward, his form shifting back into the large black wolf.
“Sounds shitty. I mean yeah, I get to go wherever I want, but I’m still cursed with the wolf so there’s that. I wasn’t born this way.” Carlos cast him a curious look, and the wolf shook his large head. “I got caught stealing for my dad from a witch, and when he realized who she was, he tried to kill her. She caught on and tried to curse him. Instead of him being cursed, he threw me in the way of the spell and here I am with my furry little problem. It’s not too terrible I guess, but sometimes I’d like to just be normal, you know?” Carlos watched the wolf, still wary of the creature, though less scared than he had been knowing now that the creature was actually human. He thought on his mother, on his life, and shook his head, pausing in his steps.
“Being normal…I don’t know what that’s like. But being scared…I can understand why the witch would want to defend herself. Sometimes, I wish I could do something like curse the person who’s hurting me. I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to be free, even if I turned into a wolf because of a curse. You may not see it like a freedom, but…I’d give anything to not have to go back to that house.” He didn’t know why he was telling the other anything about his life at home; fear of what his mother would do to him had kept him silent for so long, but in the woods it was as though she couldn’t touch him at all.
“Huh. Never really looked at it that way, I guess. But, like, what’s keeping you from just running away dude?” Carlos shrugged, letting his gaze wander from the trees around him to the wolf at his side.
“And where would I go if I ran?” They began walking in silence again, before the wolf gave a huff.
“Live in the woods with me and Mal. You said you wish you had freedom like me? Take it.” Carlos laughed, a dark sort of chuckle as he shifted the basket in his hands, turning a look of disbelief on the canine beside him.
“Live in the woods. I can’t…you’re insane, I can’t just live in the woods. Where will I sleep? What will I eat? I have no tools, nothing to keep myself safe.” His eyes widened as Jay shifted back to human, his lips curling into a wolfish smirk as Carlos realized what he had said.
“Knew you didn’t have a knife.” Carlos scowled at the teen, and Jay’s smirk widened. “Look, I’ll protect you. Mal and I have a place, in the Deep Woods, further off the path than any sane people tend to travel. You can stay with us. Evie says you’re good at fixing things, maybe we could come up with some stuff for you to do in exchange.” Carlos bit his lower lip, thinking about it. Take a chance on a stranger who could turn into a wolf, or return to the hell that was his mother…
“I think I’ll take my chance with the wolf.” he muttered, and beside him Jay perked up. “I’ll come with you. What’s the worst you can do, kill me?” Jay blinked at that, and Carlos flashed him a dangerous grin. “Trust me, I know more than one way to skin a dog. You know who my mother is. So don’t think I’m completely unable to protect myself. No funny stuff.” Jay raised his hands, and Carlos stilled, putting down the basket to untie his cloak. He hung it from a tree branch, inspecting it a moment before gesturing at it. “Rip that up some. If she thinks I’m still alive, she’ll send hunters for me.” Jay nodded, his fingers turning to claws as he struck out at the fabric, ripping long, jagged lines through the material. Carlos took a steadying breath, holding out his arm to the wolf-man. “Now, cut me so I bleed. It has to be convincing, and no one’s going to believe a wolf ate me with no blood anywhere.” Jay hesitated, and Carlos rolled his eyes, reaching to take his hand and force his claws into the skin of his forearm. Watching the blood well up, he rubbed his hand over his arm before smearing bloody handprints on the tree the cloak hung from before tearing off a strip to wrap around the injury.
“Smart.” Carlos shrugged, turning back to look at Jay once he was satisfied that the area looked convincing. “Shall we then?” Carlos gestured for Jay to lead the way, leaning to scoop up his basket as they headed off of the familiar path into the deeper woods, and he couldn’t stop the shiver of excitement from travelling along his spine.
It was time for a new start.

Okay, so i've seen Jaylos fics where Jay leaves Carlos for Mal. So i was wondering if you do a fic where instead Jay leaves Carlos for Evie. And how does that affect Carlos? because Evie is his girl bff and Jay is his boy bff and boyfriend. How does he cope with that? who does he turn to because Mal is Evie's bff and Jay is Mal's longest friend?
If there is one prompt that kills me, it’ll be this one. Oh, my heart aches for my baby!
But I did my best, enjoy!
“C’m’ere, Dude,” Carlos mumbles as soon as he’s in his dorm room, collapsing onto his bed and cuddling Dude close to his face. It took a lot of heavy breathing and clenching his eyes shut, but he made it to his room before heavy tears found their way down his cheeks.
He can’t remember the last time he felt like this. Maybe when Cruella told him he was stupid and worthless or maybe when she locked him in a closet for the whole day. Just a sinking, nauseating feeling of never being good enough.
Not like Evie. Or Jay. Who were strong and gorgeous and talented and making out under the bleachers right now. Carlos caught a glimpse of them, stared for much longer than was necessary, and ran, faster than he ever did on the Isle, back to his dorm building and into his room.
And he’s not allowed to be upset. He never told Jay how he feels, he never told anyone because Carlos was so sure nothing would ever happen and he was right.
(But if it’s what he always expected, why the hell does it still hurt so much?)
Dude whined and licked at his face and Carlos won’t let himself fully sob, but his chest shakes and he feels sick and the whole room is spinning.
On top of being crushed, he’s selfish, Carlos realizes. Evie is so beautiful and kind and Carlos has kissed the ground she walks on since she handed him a pillow and blanket just because she genuinely cared for his well being. And she deserves every ounce of happiness she gets. Carlos wants her to be loved and adored like she should be.
And Jay deserves her too. He took care for everyone in their group, protected and defended all of them. Now he found someone dazzling and perfect and he’s kissing her senseless right now.
They’re happy and loving together and Carlos has never hated anything more in his life.
He makes a noise, a sound that could be a half-sob, but it’s muffled by the fist he’s biting on.
Logically, he knows he shouldn’t be alone right now, even if Dude is still licking at his face. Anguish is only spurred by solitude and Carlos ought to reach out to someone. Not that he would have done that on the Isle, but it’s what people in Auradon do and it seems to help.
But he has no options. He can’t take his bitterness over this relationship to Jay for obvious reasons or to his second best friend, Evie. Even if Mal does care, she likes Jay and Evie more than him and would just be happy for them instead of wallowing by his side.
Maybe Ben, Carlos considers. Or Jane. He could reach out to Doug who’s still pining over Evie.
He shakes his head. Everyone in Auradon is kind and caring, but he can’t trust them with his vulnerability. Not yet. Maybe in time, but not yet.
Carlos twists his hands in Dude’s sweater, the one Evie made him, and wonders how childish and immature it would be to break something. Throw a lamp against the wall or knock over his bedside table. Just shatter something so he doesn’t feel so damn broken all by himself.
Instead, Carlos turns his anger and desperation onto himself, digging his nails into his arm hard enough to draw blood and grabbing his hair roughly enough to pull out.
He never though anything would be worse than Cruella throwing dishes at his head or using her hand to discipline him, but Carlos knows he would go back to that, go back to the Isle and his ignorance, if it meant the pain in his chest would just disappear.
Pulling Dude tighter, mindful not to squish his furry companion, Carlos softly wails into his pillow.
Alright, if you’re looking for an angsty, self-hatred ending, stop here. But, for my own sanity, I had to give a happier ending.
Carlos keeps his mouth shut tightly whenever Jay and Evie are together, looks away and grits his teeth.
Their new relationship has made both of them significantly more affectionate - and not just with each other.
Evie is constantly reaching out to play with his hair, or planting kisses on his cheek and wrapping her arms around him.
If Jay was physical before, it’s nothing now compared to how often he pulls Carlos close, walks with his arm over thin shoulders and ruffles his hair. Jay is constantly holding Carlos’ hand in the halls, dragging him to move faster or just…just to touch him.
Oh, Evil, he is so damn pathetic for clinging to any kind of affection from either of them. Like he still belongs in their group now that Jay and Evie have each other and Mal has Ben. He’s stupid and naive but there are days Jay looks at him for so long that Carlos can almost hope for something more.
He wishes, just once, that he could kiss Jay, hold his face and lick his lip, taste the boy he’s been in love with for years.
Carlos has officially quit tourney. Half because he always hated it and half because seeing Jay sweaty and aggressive is a little too much for him to handle. He didn’t even change for practice today, just told the coach at the beginning and walked off the field.
It helps to put some distance between he and Jay, but it also means Carlos’ afternoon are no longer demanding and distracting. His mind runs wild as the day drags on and he can’t bring himself to occupy his time and take away his worries with a new invention.
So when Jay barges into their room not ten minutes later, he finds Carlos curled up on his bed, trembling and stroking Dude. His panic and frustration with his friend for quitting tourney dies at the pitiful sight.
“Carlos?” Jay exhales. “Dude, what’s going on with you?” He had left practice in such a hurry that he’s still in uniform and equipment. Jay tosses off his jersey and strips the shoulder pads to the floor before climbing into bed beside Carlos. “Seriously, you’ve been weird all week, man. Talk to me.”
But Carlos just shakes his head, not trusting his voice. And he’s so tired and hurt from losing Jay, but not having lost enough to actually mourn and heal, Carlos wipes at his wet face, but his pain won’t let his face remain dry.
“C, you’re really worrying me,” Jay grabs Carlos shoulder, forces them to face one another. “Evie and Mal have noticed it too, we can’t help if you don’t talk.” But Carlos stays silent, weakly shrugging off Jay’s hand. “Is it Cruella? Something with Dude? Is anyone picking on you?”
Jay sighs, runs a hand through his hair, and lays down next to Carlos, squishing Dude between them. He gets a hand on Carlos’ hip, pulls him closer and embraces him tightly.
To his surprise, Carlos grabs him back, holds just as hard, buries his face into Jay’s chest and whimpers. He trembles violently and Jay feels a pain in his chest, like someone has reached in to squeeze his heart. “Carlos. Talk to me. Please?”
If Carlos is doing this, he’s going all out. He’s confessing and packing up his shit, finding a new roommate, Doug or Chad or maybe he’ll just live in the corner of a hallway. He won’t stay here anymore.
“You,” he chokes out, “and Evie.” The rest of his admission dies at just those words, his throat tightens to the point of cutting off his speech.
Beneath him, Jay stiffens. “What about is?”
Carlos fights for shaky breaths, opens his mouth and his words are barely audible. “You and her. Together. I…I wanted you. I still do.” He snuggles closer to Jay because if this is all he will have, and probably the last time he will ever get it, he wants as much as he can get.
Jay doesn’t push him away, only places a hand on his back. “What do you mean?” He whispers.
“I love you,” Carlos nearly cries. He wants to say it a thousand times over, shout it to the school, mumble it to Jay against his chest, his throat, his lips, every night. “I love you, I love you, IloveyouIloveyouIlo-.”
His head is pushed up from Jay’s shoulder, heavy lips find his and Carlos doesn’t question the good things in his life anymore, just kisses back with intensity and fire and the will to convey every ounce of adoration and worship into this single action.
Then it ends, all too soon, but the kiss could have lasted a year and Carlos would still feel as if he didn’t have enough time. Jay grabs his face, looks into his watery eyes. “What about Evie? How do you feel about her?”
The whole situation would be a little less terrible if he didn’t love Evie too. If Carlos could hate her, curse her name, pull away from her touch. But Evie is one of the kindest, intelligent people he knows. He can’t imagine life without her just like he can’t live without Jay.
“She’s my best friends,” Carlos trembles, distracted by the first kiss he’s ever had and the suffocating nausea still in his stomach. “I want her to be happy, I wish I could be happy for you guys but I-”
“C’m’on,” Jay pulls Carlos up quickly. “Let’s go.”
Before Carlos can protest or question, he is dragged down the hall, ducking his face so no one can see his weakness. Jay doesn’t knock on the girls’ door, just opens it like it’s a second home.
Evie is at her desk, concentrated with a sewing machine and deep blue material. She lights up at the view of her boys, but shuts off her project when she catches Carlos’ expression. “What’s going on?” She’s up and crossing over to them, grabbing one hand from both of them. Jay squeezes back, but Carlos’ hand is limp and uninterested in hers.
“Tell her what you just told me.”
Carlos shakes his head violently. It’s time like these that Evie reconsiders her longest friend. Carlos is too young, he’s too twitchy, too vulnerable. She loves him more than any dress or eyeshadow palette, but Evie hates the idea that she could ever push him, even without meaning to, or influence his free will. It’s what has her pulling back. She can’t ask something of Carlos that he doesn’t understand.
“Fine,” Jay huffs and looks to her. “He’s hurt that we’re dating. That’s why he’s been like this all week.”
Evie leans back and bites her lip. “How did you? We didn’t tell anyone.”
“I saw you,” Carlos finally speaks and his voice is so small. “Under the bleachers.”
“Oh, Carlos,” she breathes, pulling him for a hug. “We weren’t hiding it, we were waiting. We didn’t know what to say.” She looks at Jay over Carlos’ shoulder and he motions for her to continue. “We wanted to ask you properly.”
“Ask what?” Carlos doesn’t respond to her hug. If they want his blessing or approval, they have it. He just isn’t going to be happy about it.
“For you to…join us, Pup,” Jay steps closer, places a hand on Carlos’ back and Evie pulls away. “Like, all three of us.”
Carlos wipes at his face again, but his sleeves are already soaked through. “Huh?”
Evie laughs at his little noise. “We were going to do it properly,” she glares at Jay, “like, the Auradon way of doing it. ‘Courting’, I think they call it.”
There’s no recognition on Carlos face, so Jay steps in. “C, we want you to be a part of this too.”
“Only if you want to be!” Evie assures him. “We don’t want to push you into anything. If you have no interest in this, we understand. We’ll still love you.”
“But you guys are dating,” Carlos says slowly.
“You know on the Isle, sometimes three people would all have sex at the same time?” Jay asks. “Like that.”
“But without the sex.”
“Without the sex for now,” Jay argues with a dramatic hand to his chest. “What? Two hotties and you expect me to keep my hands to myself for eternity?”
“I don’t get it,” Carlos pulls away from both of them, but his voice is clearer, stronger. “You two…”
“Want to date you.” Evie clarifies with a head nod, fingers curling in the hem of her skirt. “I’m kind of high-maintenance,” she tries to laugh, “I kind of need two guys.”
“No kidding,” Jay mutters and she shoots him another glare.
“So I can have…both of you?” Carlos turns to Jay with the most hopeful, trusting expression Evie has ever seen on an Isle kid. She tries not to be jealous of the way he moves to Jay first, but she also understands the protection the larger boy offers.
Her nerves are soothed when Carlos looks at her next. “Really?”
“Yes,” Evie grins. “But only if you want to.”
Hesitation, then a small smile and an energetic nod.
Evie squeals, throws her arms around Carlos and kisses his cheek. She feels another presence behind her and when she turns her head, Jay has captured Carlos’ lips, kissing him with her between them.
With Carlos against her chest and Jay against her back, Evie is pinned between her two guys and it has her hot and hungry and dizzy.
She settles for kissing Jay’s cheek, moving toward his mouth. He breaks from Carlos and turns to her, claiming her lips next. She feels his tongue poke at her, but they just brought Carlos into their little love nest, they can’t frighten him away with a peep show so soon.
She turns back to their newest addition and slowly moves to kiss him, giving Carlos plenty of time to move back if he wants. But he doesn’t, he kisses her awkwardly, inexperienced and with self-doubt.
Evie still finds it wonderful and exciting and purely Carlos.
And when he burries his face into Evie’s neck and Jay kisses his hair, Carlos sighs.
This, he thinks, is what happiness is.
Ahhh, I know I said I don’t like threesomes between the VKs because one gets left out, but I gave Mal to Ben and I couldn’t just leave Carlos hurting and alone.
If it were to ever happen, Jay leaving Carlos for one of the girls, I think Carlos would suffer in silence. He lived through Cruella’s torture without anyone, so he wouldn’t reach out and just accept the pain as part of his life.
Also, a similar fic is: http://archiveofourown.org/works/11636859 It is Jay/ Evie with unrequited Jay/Carlos
Whether you liked the angsty, sad ending, or the fluffy, cute ending, I hope you enjoyed!
