Unpacking Pt.1 Javy
The air in the pickup was tense, charged with the uncomfortable air that comes along with all teenagers as they become aware of their emotions but don’t know how to express them. When they pull up outside of Jake’s house he glances at Javy, who immediately after parking has started to pick at his jeans. Well if he’s not going to say anything Jake sure will.
“So we’re not doing this right?”
Javy looks relieved, “absolutely not, I mean you’re attractive but this whole date has felt like I’m taking out one of my sisters.”
Jake snorts, “good, I’m way out of your league anyway.”
“Shut up.”
“You’re just scared of the truth.”
Javy rolls his eyes and Jake feels glad the awkward tension that had followed them from the movie theater was gone now. Javy was his best friend, nothing more, and he’d hate to lose him.
Jake knows he should probably go inside, his curfew is just minutes away, but something else nags at him.
“Javy?”
“What?”
“I’m not a girl. I’m a boy.”
It’s blunt. Blunter than anything else he’s ever confessed. And Jake has always been pretty blunt, to the point that Javy is one of his only real friends because he scares off everyone else. The truth is out there now so maybe he doesn’t even have Javy anymore. But Jake had to get it out, it’s a bandaid that’s been stuck to his skin for 17 years, he had to rip it off quickly or it was going to be even more painful.
Javy looks confused, his eyebrows pulled together, “what do you mean?”
Jake feels like shriveling up and dying. He needs this to go well. He doesn’t know what he’ll do if it doesn’t.
“I’m transgender. Born in the wrong body. Dysphoria. All that jazz. I understand if that makes you uncomfortable and you don’t want to hang out with me anymore, but please, Javy, please don’t tell anyone. Especially not my parents.”
That’s something Jake is willing to beg on his hands and knees for. He doesn’t need his uber-Christian parents who have the perfect suburban home with two kids and a dog to realize their perfect family is flawed.
Javy looks more concerned than confused now, “hey, no. You think I’d drop you because you’re a dude? I have plenty of guy friends. You're my best friend, why would this change that?”
A warmth is building in Jake’s chest, he might not be losing his best friend for this, “I mean, I’m a trans guy. Some people think it’s defying god or nature or some shit.”
“And when in our friendship have you seen me hate someone because god told me to?”
That was fair. Javy, and his family, were devoted Christians, his mother and father attending church nearly every Sunday, but unlike Jake’s parents, they taught nothing but christlike love.
“You never know.”
The look he got for that was bordering on pity.
Javy slid across the bench so he could pull Jake into a hug, “look, nothing, and I mean nothing, especially you just being yourself, could make me hate or dislike you. You’re basically my,” Javy hesitated, “brother? Is that okay?”
It was like someone had poured pure warmth over Jake, his heart felt like beating out of his chest to dance, and embarrassingly tears were springing to his eyes, thank god his head was buried in Javy’s shoulder. “Yeah, brother is good.”
“Okay, good. Then you’re my brother, I’m not giving you up for anything. I’m here for you, through the good and bad.”
Yeah, Jake was full-on crying at that point.
“Also, I amend my earlier statement, you’re attractive but I’m not going to date my brother. And not just because I’m straight. Because you’re my brother. Like. That’d be weird. If I dated my brother.”
“Javy?”
“Yeah?”
“Shut the fuck up.”

You and Jake had been at the hard deck for about an hour or so. Javy had stayed at the base late finishing up some paperwork from his last mission. Jake had picked you up from your house on the way to the bar. That way you wouldn’t have to worry about driving two cars home. You had bet Jake that you could beat him in darts which was likely to happen because he thought it was funny to see you brag about winning sometimes. You, Javy and Jake all knew he took it easy on you but none of you ever said anything.
“If I make this one then you have to pick up my tab for tonight.” You rolled the dart between your fingers, the jagged metal digging into your skin delightfully.
“No fucking way that’s gonna happen. I just bought your dinner the other night. You’re gonna fucking make me go broke.” He scoffed at you before taking a drink of his beer. You both knew that the statement was false. Between the money he got from the Navy and his family wealth he didn’t have any financial worries.
“Not my fault you suck at darts. Maybe if you weren’t so worried about picking up air bunnies you’d actually be able to practice sometime.” Your words were playful, it had become an inside joke in the squad that Jake was a player. But you knew better than that, he rarely ever slept with any of the women he left with. He would normally make sure they got home safely before going home himself. But he had already been labeled as a man whore so he figured he’d put on a show.
“I’m gonna tell Javy that you’re being mean to me.” your mouth dropped open as you looked at him. There was a playful twinkle in his eyes as he gave you a big toothy grin.
“You wouldn’t dare.” You glared at him, he gave you a nonchalant shrug.
“Is this asshole bothering you?” It was almost like Javy knew you were talking about him as he came to stand behind you, hands placing themselves on your hips, chin laying on your shoulder. You gave Jake a smirk causing his own to fall from his lips.
“Yes actually he is.” Jake went to protest but Javy started laughing, you could feel the vibrations from his chest on your back.
“Get lost.” Jake gaped at you as Javy jested, you held your hand out to him expectantly waiting for him to place his last dart in your palm.
“You’re taking her side?” Jake placed the red dart in your hand anyways, you stuck your tongue out at him.
“You’re not the one that I plan on going home with tonight.” Javy’s smooth voice and the innuendo in his words had your whole body igniting with warmth.
“This isn’t fair. I should’ve never set the two of you up.” The blonde continued to grumble as he mopped away, going to the pool table where some of the squad were playing a game.
“He’s so whiny.” You turned in your boyfriend's hold coming face to face with him. You took in the sharpness of his jawline and the smirk on his lips. When your eyes met his brown ones, they had a sparkle in them.
“He was just mad because you were about to hand him his ass in darts again.” you giggled at his reply, fingers drumming across his chest. He grabbed your wrist and brought your hand up to his lips kissing your fingers before grabbing the two darts from your other hand.
“If I hit bullseye with both of these you gotta do that thing I like when we get home tonight.” His lips brushed your ear as he whispered into it. Your cheeks heated up at his words, mind becoming foggy at the thought of what he meant.
“Let’s see what you got then hot stuff.” You gave him space to throw the darts, hand dramatically gesturing towards the board. He gave you a wink before he skillfully sent the first dart through the air. It hit the center of the board and he sent the other one through the air quickly after. It hit the center of the board as well.
“Well sugar?” He turned to you with both of his eyebrows perked up. You gave him a teasing smile, tucking your hair behind your ear.
“I’m ready to go home whenever you are.” You walked past him, landing a hand on his ass and sending him a wink. His eyes followed the sway of your hips as you walked to the bar.
“I taught both of you everything you know about darts you realize that right?” Jake came up and slapped a hand on Javy’s shoulder.
“Yea, yea, yea. Whatever you say man.” Javy glanced at his best friend and saw the smile on his face. His eyes fluttered back to your form leaning against the bar talking to Penny and he let out a long breath, shoulders relaxing.
“I wasn’t at work ya know.” Javy desperately needed to tell someone where he was at. Jake looked at him questioningly, confusion clear in his expression.
“Where were you then?” Javy hadn’t lied to you in the two years you had been dating so Jake wasn’t sure why he had started now.
“I was looking at rings.” Jake’s mouth fell open before he punched Javy’s arm.
“Ow. What the fuck was that for man?” Javy rubbed the spot that Jake's fist had just come in contact with.
“You were looking at rings to propose to her without me? How dare you?” Jake pouted his lips as he glared at the New Orleans man.
“I didn’t buy one yet you asshole. You can come with me when I do. Now shut up she’s coming back over here.” They both looked back towards the bar and saw you walking their way with three beers in your hands.
“What’re you boys talking about?” you asked them as you handed them each a bottle.
“I was just asking Javy about taking the dogs on a hike this weekend. I heard one of the techs talking about a spot that I want to go to.” Javy was grateful for his friend's quick thinking.
“Gumbo and Ella would love that. What time were we thinking?” Your excitement was clear in your words as your eyes got wider and your tone got a little higher. Javy took you in as you and his best friend talked about this weekend and he thanked whatever was out there that he was lucky enough to have these two amazing people in his life.

Loverboy
jake "hangman" seresin x fem!reader
"Jakey, just have fun for me," your whine brought out a lovesick smile on his lips. "You can't call me every fifteen minutes and actually expect to enjoy your night out."
[1.1k] | incredibly lovesick jake seresin alert, idk what this is im not even sober, am i ever not drunk, anyway alcohol consumption, javy's bromance w/ jake, just fluff actually he's so cute i'm forever gonna stick up for the loverboy jake agenda
reblog and/or like for a kiss, feedback much appreciated! not proofread.
With his back against the outer wall of the bar, Jake couldn't contain the smile on his lips while tapping away on his phone to find your name.
He had no idea how and when it happened exactly, this excruciating amount of pull that you had on him— which had him twirling his imaginary long hair and kicking his feet often after any moment spent with you or as a very natural response to a very casual text you sent, when nobody was around to see.
He was happy to be living up to the nickname you gave him long ago, when that too-good-to-be-true exterior cracked and cracked until he finally revealed his true nature; a loverboy.
Your line dialed for the fifth time as he held his phone up to his ear, the music still pretty much hearable even through the wall. Javy was inside waiting for him, and honestly was quite surprised that Jake would down the rest of his second drink and walk out right away because "I gotta tell my girl about this, she's gonna laugh so hard" but it was the new normal for a long while now, wasn't it?
You finally picked up, a bit later than usual since you said that you'd just be at home— catching up with work and stuff which Jake didn't really listen to the details of, and you couldn't exactly blame him for that. "Hello?"
"Hey, babe." his giddy tone could be felt through the line. "Jus' wanted to check up on you. What are you doing?"
"Ah," you chuckled. "Still working, honey. Same as you left me."
All you could hear was a hum of understanding before he released a deep sigh, leaning further on the wall. "Wish you were here with me, honestly. Javy's such a fucking idiot— can't wait to tell you all 'bout it."
"Jakey, just have fun for me," your whine brought out a lovesick smile on his lips. "You can't call me every fifteen minutes and actually expect to enjoy your night out."
"But I enjoy things a lot more when you're doing it with me."
"Machado's gonna hate me if you keep this shit up, y'know that?" he recognized your teasing tone immediately, huffing out a snicker. "He's still hurt that you wouldn't spend 'Bromance Day' with him."
"Well, his 'Bromance Day' just so happened to be February fourteenth, he should've managed his expectations. I was free on the thirteenth. Not the fifteenth because my girlfriend is an insatiable little—"
"Hey, shut it," you laughed, and he knew you well enough to know that you were shaking your head now, even if he couldn't see. "You should stop grumbling about one of the few people that actually endures your annoying ass, work on your time management and get back to the bar, alright?"
"Right," he took a deep breath again, not even aware that he was holding it— perhaps he was afraid of missing even the tiniest details of your voice, unhappy with the lack of justice the static of the line did to it. "I'm gonna wreck that dart board for you, baby."
When Jake came back home that night, a little bit later than he said he would, but in his defense, you did tell him to have fun. Probably reeking of alcohol and sweat, he figured in his tipsy state that you must be asleep by now, and made sure to be extra quiet while shuffling out of his jacket and setting his keys down by the shoe rack. He tiptoed his way over to the bathroom then, and ran himself a cold shower— mostly to get rid of the scent, and to perhaps go to bed with a clearer head but he was sloppy nonetheless, and a shower without singing wasn't really a good shower.
He still sang some of his favorite songs very quietly though.
But when he walked into your shared room with a warm robe around his body, he didn't expect you to… not be there. It was late. You sure would've left what you were doing to run to his side the second he came back if you were awake, right?
Looking around the room in confusion as if you'd magically appear from behind the curtain and scare him shitless, he took a sharp breath and walked towards the small study you had— a comfortable, quiet space to work on stuff or to just think, and his prediction proved itself to be right because you were right there, arms crossed on top of the desk with your head resting on them, eyes closed, computer still open with whatever you were busy with doing on the screen.
God, he was smiling like an idiot.
"My busy bee…" he whispered to himself, before carefully approaching your desk— making sure to save all your work before putting the computer on sleep mode just in case. With one arm leaning against the desk, he then looked down at your sleeping figure, looking so content despite the awkward position— and he couldn't help the quiet chuckle that left his lips. "Should I wake you or potentially startle you while trying to carry you to bed?"
You didn't even stir.
"You're gonna be the death of me one day." he complained, but tried out a couple of different arm positions that he could potentially use to carry you— with no luck. That's when you finally let out a yawn though, mumbling out his name before slowly pushing yourself off the desk. "I'm sorry— I couldn't figure out how to pick you up. It's easier when you're on the couch—" but then you just wrapped your arms around his neck, getting in a better position for him to pick you up.
Too sleepy to do anything else. Jake felt his heart doing Olympic backflips.
With a secure grip by your waist and the back of your knees, he carefully picked you up from where you were seated, smiling to himself when he felt your lips by his neck, and then a tired murmur. "M'sorry. Wanted to stay awake for you but— work's boring."
He chuckled at that, a soft noise that brought a smile to your lips when your back finally met the cold mattress. "You should've just gone to bed, sweetheart. Your back will kill you if you keep that up."
"It's fine," you replied, only then opening your eyes to see him sitting by the edge of the bed, his warm palm covering your knee with a compassionate smile on his lips. "Bed's cold. You gotta warm me up or else I might actually die—"
"God, such a baby," his tease was followed by a chuckle as he slightly pushed you over to get to his side, quickly wrapping the both of you with a blanket before undoing the belt of his robe, just so the knot wouldn't bother you when he pulled you closer to his chest. "Go right back to sleep, honey. I got you."
And you were content on doing exactly what he told you to do, except, he didn't do the same— but instead, decided to take a good look at your serene expression and sigh to himself, nothing but whispers leaving his lips as he admired you. "I love you so bad, it's not even funny anymore."
a/n: guess which songs jake were singing in the shower. my playlist is very dry lately and im going to steal your guesses shamelessly and then remember you fondly 3 years later when i stumble upon that song again and then we're gonna fall in love and—

I hadn't ever considered them either, not even a little bit, and then suddenly I was frothing at the mouth going absolutely feral over the thought of them together😂
Also yes you have no idea, I struggled like an hour with just trying to decide if I should have Bob vacationing in New Orleans or not, but then ultimately I needed a few pieces to connect (like Javy and Jake sharing homestate for maximum bromance) and also I was scared of disrespecting New Orleans somehow, so we ended up here!😂😂 Oh well
Thank you for reading lovely💕💕
In the Most Unexpected Places
Pairing: Robert 'Bob' Floyd x Javy 'Coyote' Machado (aka floychado)
Summary: The unexpected place is Texas. After the mission, Coyote and Bob hadn't thought they'd be seeing each other until after the month long leave they'd been granted. However, finding themselves in the same place (again), they start spending more time together. Just as friends, right?
Words: 3.7k
Warnings: none really.
Notes: I read a couple of hangster fics with Bob/Coyote as a background pairing (most notably Barnes_Brain's Sliding into Home series on ao3) and promptly lost my mind. Needed to make it happen more. Thank you to @wyn-n-tonic for letting me bounce inital ideas and answering my questions that I kept badgering you with from the couch. And thank you to my dear cheerleader @a-reader-and-a-writer for betaing, offering support, and coming up with the title! Couldn't have done it without you bby<3
MASTERLIST
(I know it's Bob's story too but Coyote gets the gif this time, sorry Bobby bby)
"Bob? Is that you??"
Bob whipped around hearing his callsign, not having expected anyone to recognize him in a grocery store in Deer Park, Texas.
"Coyote? Hey, man, wh-what're you doing here?" Bob asked, smiling as the other man pulled him into a quick hug. The greeting was warmer than Bob would have expected, but he was very pleased with it nonetheless. It was good to see Coyote, and perhaps the other man felt the same. It had been less than a week since they had last seen each other on base, but somehow it felt longer, the change of scenery making Bob lose track of time a little bit.
"I should be asking you that! I live here. But I thought you were from somewhere.. not Texas?" Coyote said, scrunching up his face trying to recall if Bob had ever mentioned where he was from.
Bob had not, and now he realized that neither had Coyote, actually. They'd had more important things to focus on in the last three weeks, he supposed.
"Yeah, I'm, uhm, I grew up in Wyoming, but my mom is from here actually. We're here visiting my grandparents for my leave," he explained. "I'm just realizing I never even asked where you were from. I just assumed somewhere in Texas maybe, but at least I know now," Bob chuckled, giving an awkward half-grin that he hoped conveyed that he was sorry for not making more of an effort to get to know the pilot.
"I'm sorry I never asked you either. Guess we never really got there, huh?" Coyote shrugged.
"Robby? Where did you disappear?"
Bob heard his mom calling after him just before she appeared at the end of the aisle behind Coyote's back.
"Robby?" Coyote mouthed at him, and Bob felt himself flush a little.
"Believe it or not, I'm not actually Bob to these people," he smirked to Coyote, before turning to his mom.
"Sorry, Mom, I ran into a friend. This is Javy Machado. Coyote, this is my mom, Michelle," Bob made the introductions.
"Nice to meet you, ma'am. I had no idea Bob had family here, I was surprised to see him just now."
"Oh yes, I grew up here in Deer Park," she smiled warmly at the two. "Machado? I think there was a Machado on my brother's football team in high school," Michelle mused, mostly to herself.
"Could've been my dad, or one of my uncles. They all played."
"What a fun coincidence that Robby knows someone from here too! Are you in the Navy as well?"
"Yes, ma'am, a pilot. We met just recently."
Bob tried to keep his mom from worrying too much, so he appreciated that Coyote didn't mention their most recent mission in more detail. Bob would talk about his work with his family as best he could, but he knew his mom worried a lot, and he felt better keeping the rougher details of his job from her. Mentioning the mission now would just dig it up again.
"Well, it was nice meeting you, dear," Michelle said to Coyote. "Maybe we'll run into each other again while we're here! Robby, we should run now, your Pop will be waiting."
"Yeah, of course. Uhm, I'll—" Bob turned to Coyote, not really knowing what to say.
"We'll see each other in like twenty minutes in the group chat anyway, right?" Coyote grinned. "Go, man, don't leave your Pop waitin'."
"Right. See ya around!"
"See ya, Robby," Coyote winked.
Bob shook his head, laughing, and turned to hurry after his mom.
-
Coyote was right. They did see each other (figuratively speaking) later that afternoon in the 🗡️SKWAD group chat Fanboy had set up to keep in touch during leave, and they told everyone how they happened to be vacationing in the same place. Most of them were kind of jealous that the two of them could hang out even during leave, what with the codependency already forming within the group, which made Bob realize that maybe he should do something to utilize that possibility.
He'd just never spent time alone together with Coyote, and while there was nothing wrong with the other man, Bob wasn't even sure Coyote (or Hangman, since they were often a package deal) liked him enough to hang out alone with him. Bob knew that the first impressions on all sides had long since faded, but he still didn't know if there was any basis for a deeper connection between him and the pilot, so he didn't make any moves on it.
However, after a couple of days passed, Bob found himself needing the company of someone who knew about the mission to be able to decompress from.. everything. He thought about calling Phoenix again, but then he remembered that he could also hit up Coyote and ask if he wanted to hang out for a bit. Sure, they hadn't really had a longer conversation together outside of the time they were at the hospital with Phoenix after the bird strike incident, but Bob remembered finding Coyote's presence comforting then. He had shut his eyes and just listened to the two pilots talking, and that had helped him ground himself.
Gathering his courage, Bob shot Coyote a message.
Bob: Hey. Would you want to hang out for a bit? Feeling like getting away from the family for a couple of hours.
Coyote: hey man, sure thing. i can come pick you up if you send me the address
And that's how Bob ended up in the passenger seat of the pilot's truck, not really knowing where they were going, but feeling calmer already.
-
Javy looked over at Bob who had his eyes closed. After settling into the car, Bob had asked him if he could turn the radio just a little quieter, and then shut his eyes. Not to sleep, Javy knew, but to recenter himself, it seemed.
"Did you have anything specific in mind?" Javy asked, turning left to drive through quieter roads.
"Nah. Just... If you don't mind, just driving around for a while sounds perfect. I can pay for the gas," Bob responded, eyes still closed, but head turned in Javy's direction.
"You're good, Bob, don't worry about that." Javy glanced at the quiet man next to him again. "Everything okay with your family?"
"Oh, yeah, it's not that. Everything's good with them." Bob opened his eyes finally, and continued speaking, "It's just that the mission is still so fresh, and it's not like I can really talk to them about it all. And you know I like to have my quiet time. With a house full of noisy relatives that's not so easy. I could take a walk or something – that's what I usually do when I need a moment – but…"
"But you needed to see someone who gets it?" Javy guessed. "Yeah, I feel that."
Bob just hummed in agreement.
"If you want to talk about it, you can. I know it was even more intense for you."
"Thanks, Coyote. I appreciate you doing this. Honestly, this is helping a lot already," Bob said, and Javy looked at his face for a sign that the other man was brushing off the issue just to be polite or something. But he only found the honest earnestness that he was used to from the WSO, so Javy let it drop.
Instead, Javy just kept a running commentary of all the places they were driving past, telling Bob random stories about his teenage years, driving the routes he'd been driving back then. His passenger seemed content to just sit there and listen, his face finally relaxing fully.
Javy found himself glancing at Bob often while he drove. The man was a mystery to him. At first glance, Javy thought he'd had the quiet, unassuming man all figured out, but now he knew that not to be true. In fact, it seemed like every day the WSO surprised him in some way. For example, Javy never would have guessed the way Bob dressed in civvies – snug, faded jeans, and equally well-loved band shirts or comfy hoodies seemed to be his go-to outfit. He even wore a hat. Javy hadn't thought of Bob as a hat person for some reason.
It was when Bob started yawning that Javy realized it was getting kind of late, so he made his way back to Bob's grandparents' house to drop him off. They didn't talk much on the way back, but that was okay. It didn't feel like they needed to fill the silence with anything. Coyote was used to more high-energy hangouts with his other friends but found that he didn't mind this either. It was probably good for him too.
When they rolled to a stop at the house, Bob turned to him once more as he was getting out of the truck. "Seriously, thank you for doing this. I know I wasn't much of a company, but this was good for me. Your voice calms me down." Bob added that last bit quietly, as if to himself, and Javy was stunned into silence, watching the WSO walk back inside.
Javy ignored the warm feeling building in his chest and headed back home.
-
The next morning, Bob was surprised to get a text from Coyote, asking him to hang out again. Not that Bob thought Coyote suddenly hated him after last night or anything, but he also didn't feel like he had been the most entertaining companion by a mile.
Coyote: hey again. there's this art museum i've been wanting to check out but my family isn't really into that sort of thing. would you wanna come with me? it's a bit of a drive but if you don't mind. you seem like a guy who would like museums???
Bob: I do like museums. Yeah, I'd be happy to go with you! When do you wanna go?
Coyote: can you be ready to go in an hour? i can pick you up again
Bob: Sounds good👍🏻
-
Once again, Bob hadn't quite known what to expect, but they ended up having a great time at the art museum. They both agreed that it could be difficult sometimes to find a person to go to museums with since some people will go through them too fast and others too slow, the vibes not matching, or just not sharing the same interests. But Bob and Coyote were perfectly matched in their museum behaviors, keeping just the right pace (according to them) and sharing interests in a way where they were often pulled to the same pieces but could also find some individual interests. And they had fun looking through the gift shops too.
"Like Hangman? Love the guy to death, but he does not have the patience for this, if you can believe that," Coyote joked when they were exiting the museum.
Bob laughed. "Yes, I somehow can believe that."
Coyote got quiet for a moment.
"Speaking of him, or us, I don't think I ever apologized to you about how our first meeting went. We were kind of dicks to you that first night," Coyote grimaced.
Bob stopped short and blinked, surprised. "I honestly didn't feel any need for an apology there, but I appreciate it anyway. Besides, I'm kind of used to people dismissing me at first glance, it's just how it is," he shrugged.
Coyote frowned like he wanted to argue something, but Bob continued before he had the chance. "And to be fair, I kind of pegged you and Hangman as like the pretty divas from high school, you know? So it's not like we don't all make some snap judgments sometimes," Bob offered with a small grin.
Coyote looked at him surprised for a moment before a wide smirk split his face. "You think we're pretty, do you?"
Bob rolled his eyes. "Oh come on, you two do not need me to tell you that," he chuckled.
"Eh, well, we like hearing it anyway," Coyote laughed.
(Javy didn't tell Bob that he thought the WSO was quite pretty too, actually.)
-
They found themselves hanging out nearly every day for the next three weeks.
The pair of them visited a few more museums since that was sort of their thing now, but mostly they hung out in the late evenings when their families were already retiring for the night. That way they didn't need to feel bad about ditching the people they got to see far too rarely. They would drive somewhere, grab a snack and eat it on the hood of the truck while parked at some parking lot, a park, or some other quieter place.
But they still found some activities to do as well. They found a fun outside putt-putt course, went to see a couple of late-night movie showings, and had a very fun night at an arcade where a table hockey game got intensely competitive, and Javy showed off his frankly unbelievable skills on a dance mat. Bob dragged Javy to bowling one night, where he got to show off his skills in turn, having done a lot of bowling with his cousin growing up.
Bob did surprise even himself by noticing a want to prioritize hanging out with Javy while also still getting family time. Where did all this social battery come from all of a sudden? Bob couldn't remember ever having this much energy to meet someone even after spending the whole day with family members. He chalked it up to Javy's comforting presence making everything feel easier. There was also the fact that – probably thanks to the circumstances of the dagger mission – there was absolutely zero need to pretend or put on a front between them. They could be candid with each other, which eased Bob's nerves a great deal too. Instead, it was all.. easy.
One evening toward the end of his stay in Texas, Bob heard his Meemaw chattering away excitedly about Robby's new friend to his Pop as they were getting ready for bed. Which promptly made Bob choke on his evening tea, because friend spoken like that was Grandma Speak for boyfriend. Javy had come in for coffee earlier that day, at the insistence of his Meemaw, who was now telling Pop "what a charming, handsome young man that Machado boy was" and how "they looked so sweet together". "No wonder Robby's been spendin' so much time with him. New sweethearts like that can't stand to stay apart," Meemaw sighed.
Bob took a lot after his Pop, both in looks and character, meaning that preferring to stay quiet and letting others talk was his Pop's trademark that Bob had somehow inherited. Which was why it was all the more surprising to hear Pop join in with a grunt, "I agree. He seemed like a smart kid. It's good for Robert."
On the one hand, Bob was glad to hear his grandparents clearly had no issue with him supposedly dating a man, but on the other hand he was still reeling from them even thinking he and Javy were together. That was absurd, right? They were just friends. They acted with each other like they did with all of their other friends, there was nothing special about their situation, right? Meemaw was just being a meemaw again.
Deep down, Bob knew the answer to that, just like he knew how pleased it made him to hear that his family apparently thought he and Javy were a couple. He just wasn't quite ready to admit it to himself yet.
-
"...we are now boarding passengers who require extra assistance as well as any active duty military," came the announcement over the PA, and Bob got up. There was only one other person heading to the gate just ahead of him, and—
"Javy?"
Javy whipped around in a perfect parallel of their first meeting here in Texas almost a month ago.
"I thought you weren't gonna fly back?" Bob asked, wondering if he had somehow summoned the man before him by thinking about him too much all morning (and the night before). It hadn't helped that his Meemaw had been asking him to bring "that lovely friend of yours" for another visit as he had hugged her goodbye.
Before the pilot could answer, the person working the counter interrupted them.
"Since you two gentlemen are our only active duty passengers on this flight, we have upgraded your seats to first class, free of charge, as a thank you for your service," the lady smiled at them, handing them their new boarding passes.
"Oh, uhm, thank you very much, ma'am," Bob stammered.
He never expected (or wanted) any special treatment just because he was Navy, but knew that it would cause only more extra hassle for the workers if he refused the upgrade, so he just thanked them and walked in after Javy. Besides, he couldn't lie that the extra leg room wasn't welcome, even if the flight was only three and a half hours.
He caught up with Javy.
"Yeah, so, I thought you were supposed to have that boys' trip with Hangman and drive back together. What happened?"
Javy snorted. "The fucker went back a few days ago already. Said he had things to do."
"Things like Rooster?" Bob guessed.
"Mmhmm."
Bob snorted too. "Guess that wasn't too surprising."
"Yeah, I don't know why I expected anything else," Javy grumbled, but his voice held a clear fondness for his best friend. "But now I get to travel with you, so it all worked out," he winked.
"Oh, our seats are together," Bob said, in a higher voice than he'd have liked. That was a lot of proximity with a man he only just realized he has feelings for. No big deal. This was fine.
"Not tired of me, are you, Bobby?"
"No! No, not at all! I didn–"
It was then he saw that Javy was smiling mischievously.
"Rude," he harrumphed, blushing, and poked Javy in the chest in retaliation as he moved past the slightly shorter man to sit on the window seat.
Javy snickered as he sat down, and then they fell silent as other passengers started trickling on board.
Bob was feeling slightly panicked. For some reason, now that he had realized he had a crush on the man sitting next to him, it was suddenly hard to know how to act around him. Bob groaned at himself internally. Why did he have to make it difficult now after weeks of easy conversation? A week ago he could just be with Javy, easy as anything, and now all of a sudden he was silently freaking out about the fact that their hands were nearly touching on the armrests. Get a grip, Floyd.
Ever since their late-night discussion about ex-partners two days ago, and Bob had found out that Javy dated men as well as women, it seemed like some sort of dam in his brain had broken. Suddenly he could think of the pilot as a real possibility, and let all sorts of thoughts run free that he had kept buried to the best of his ability thus far. Thoughts that one generally did not have about people one called friends.
Well, if he was being honest with himself, those thoughts had been there for weeks now. He distinctly remembered having a thought or two that day at beach football. (And they called him smart. Bob mentally shook his head at himself). Even so, he had never entertained the thoughts further, and instead kept them very carefully locked up in a box, only escaping when he wasn't concentrating – which he tried to keep to a minimum. But now he found it very nearly impossible to contain them at all.
"You okay there?" Javy asked, his soft voice sounding both a little confused and worried.
Perhaps Bob's internal freakout wasn't as internal as he'd thought.
"'M fine," he croaked, which obviously didn't sound reassuring at all.
"Are you nervous about flying commercial?" Javy tried.
"No, not at all. I'm a backseater, I'm used to not piloting myself," Bob shrugged.
"Oh. Cause I just thought, if you were, I'd have offered to hold your hand."
Sirens screamed in Bob's head as he stared at Javy's hand propped invitingly on the armrest. Too many different possibilities for why the pilot was doing this raced his mind all at once.
"Are- Are you nervous?" was what he settled on.
"Would you hold my hand if I was?"
Javy's expression was carefully blank, and Bob swallowed thickly.
"Of course, if you wanted that," Bob replied.
"Then yes, I'm nervous," Javy nodded. "Awfully nervous," he repeated, nudging Bob's hand with his own.
The sirens in his head screamed even louder. Was this flirting?? Was Javy really flirting with him? Was that what was happening? Why would he want to hold Bob's hand when he obviously wasn't actually nervous?
"O-okay," Bob stuttered, and took Javy's hand in his own.
It was surprisingly soft despite the calluses from flying a jet. Holding Javy's hand like this felt simply electrifying, and Bob felt himself getting warm all over. He risked a glance at the pilot next to him, and saw that Javy was looking at their joined hands with a small, satisfied smile on his handsome face.
They didn't talk for a long while after that. The flight took off, leveled out, seatbelt signs went off, drinks were served, and all the while they kept holding hands. It seemed that by some unspoken agreement they weren't going to talk about whatever this was on a plane surrounded by people, but instead kept up reassuring squeezes of their joined hands or stroked their thumbs over the other's knuckles. Javy lifting their joined hands to his lips, pressing a kiss to Bob's knuckles at the very least washed away the last of his nerves, replacing them with a pleasant fluttering in his belly. He would demand a proper talk once they landed, but for now his brain calmed down, trusting that he needn't have freaked out over liking Javy after all.

When you and Javy started dating the two of you did everything together. Grocery shopping, laundry, going out to eat, watching movies, brushing your teeth, going to get mani pedis, having lazy nights in and eating way too much food for two people. One would venture to say it was the honeymoon phase. But you guys had been together for 2 years now and it was still like this. Just now it was you and Javy and his friend Jake.
Jake had started doing everything with you guys about 6 months into your relationship. You never minded much. You didn’t have many friends of your own and the strapping blonde was filling that void nicely. He never invited himself along to your escapades and always checked to make sure you guys were sure you wanted him to tag along when you guys invited him. At this point it felt empty without Jake along most of the time.
So when you had found a haunted house open in a town over in the middle of February you texted the group chat your trio had and let the boys know. They had both agreed instantly and that’s how you found yourself in line for the haunted house with the two pilots. They had been talking about the haunted house all week and how excited they were. They were joking and poking fun at you the whole time because they figured you would be terrified. You hadn’t told them that you had worked at a few haunted houses in your late teens, early twentys and that they didn’t phase you much anymore.
The line was moving quickly and you guys were two groups away from going inside. That’s when you saw Javy getting antsy. He was going back and forth from one foot to the other, playing with the pocket of his jeans. You leaned into his chest a little and asked if he was okay. He puffed his chest out a little and looked down at you. “Of course I’m okay Sugar. I’m just worried you might get a little scared. You know you can hold my hand, if you want.” he told you, pulling his hand from his pocket holding it out to you.
You gave him a huge smile and grabbed his hand. “I would love to hold your hand honey. My big pilot boyfriend protecting me sounds amazing.” you pushed up on your toes and gave him a quick peck on the lips. Then you were moving up in line and only had one more group before it was the three of you. Jake looked perfectly poised like always. Even in jeans and a t-shirt he looked authoritatively laid back somehow. He always looked professional and carefree in the weirdest way ever.
Him and Javy were pushing each other and betting on which one of them would be screaming at the end. Then you guys were walking in. You were still holding Javy’s hand and he had walked in first, Jake was behind you. The three of you walked through a room of creepy bloody patients first screaming and crying begging for help out. Then there were nurses who were asking if they could give you guys an exam with a bunch of weird instruments on the tables next to them. As you guys were about to exit the room a nurse had jumped out at the three of you. Which made Javy scream a loud “Fuck off” and jump behind you with Jake.
The next room had doctors that looked completely demented. They were trying to coax you into lying on their tables for surgery. A body was already on the table with the guts hanging out. Then suddenly the body popped up screaming with blood spewing out of its mouth. That had made Jake scream and grab ahold of your other hand that wasn’t wrapped around Javy’s. The final room was the Morgue which was eerily quiet. You knew the boys were taking deep breaths trying to calm themselves down thinking that this was the end. Their hands had started to let go of yours when four of the cold freezer doors slammed open and zombie-like figures came crawling out. The boys jumped about 3 feet, screamed, squeezed your hands and shoved you forward.
You were a giggly mess at that point. You led the boys out of the building. Neither letting go of your hands. When you finally got out and the lights from outside the building were shining on the boys' horrified faces you lost it. The loud laugh you let out had both of the boys letting go of your hands simultaneously. “You should see the looks on your fucking faces right now. I thought you guys weren’t scared. What happened to the two of you protecting me from all the big bad scaries in there?” you barely got out as you were bent over laughing. They just looked at you unamused.
“I was definitely not scared. I don’t know what you’re even talking about.” Jake replied to you grumpily turning to Javy for help. Javy threw an arm around his blonde friend’s shoulder and turned to you.
“We have no idea what you’re talking about and we will deny everything if you dare speak of this to anybody.” he quipped at you with a serious look on his face.
“Okay, okay, okay, I’m sure that those were somebody else's screams coming from behind me then. Two other people were gripping my hands and shoving me out of the building. It definitely wasn’t you two scaredy cats.” you assured them nodding your head.
“Yea that definitely wasn’t us. Got no clue who it could’ve been. But since we're out can we leave now?” Jake asked you quickly. That made you shake your head.
“Sure I just have to run to the bathroom real quick. Why don’t you guys head to the food truck we passed on the way in and I’ll meet you there?” You questioned them and they both agreed turning and heading in the direction of the food truck. You turned and headed in the direction of the booth selling pictures of the groups that had gone inside. You found the pictures of the three of you in the final room and purchased them. They showed the boys jumping, screaming, holding your hands and pushing you forward. You knew the pictures would come in handy one day. Then you were walking to the food truck to meet Javy and his friend Jake.
A/N: I loved writing this and I think I might write a tiny series about the trio if anyone would be interested in that? Likes, comments and reblogs are always appreciated! I had so much fun writing this thank you @sylviebell for the request!

Jake had never had many friends other than Javy. They had been stationed together handfuls of times and had quickly become a bromance that couldn’t be swayed. Then you came into the picture. The chemistry was instant and you were married within the year. He had continued to go out with Javy normally bringing you along If you were up to it. Occasionally going out with other pilots he was stationed with. But normally when he and Javy weren’t stationed together he spent most of his time with you.
When he had been permanently stationed in Fightertown you had been excited. You felt hope of finding a group of friends for yourself. You hadn’t made many over the last 4 years of being with Jake. The ones you had were left at different bases, cities and countries around the world. You knew he got along decently with the rest of the squad after the mission where he proved himself not a complete asshole.
Once you had made the move to Fightertown you had joined the squad at The Hard Deck a few nights. They had developed inside jokes in the short weeks they had all spent together, they had formed bonds and were just as close as a family. You don’t think that they had meant to make you feel so left out. Bob had often sat with you and drank whatever soda or water you chose that night. Javy had brought you into conversation and danced around the bar with you. Jake had just about always been standing a couple feet from you checking in frequently.
The sinking loneliness had set in slowly. You felt as though you weren’t wanted at The Hard Deck. So you started to make excuses as to why you couldn’t go. A headache, grocery shopping, a made up book club, feeling tired, and a phone call with your parents or grandparents. Jake asked if you wanted him to stay with you often. You always insisted that he go and spend time with his friends and to have a soda with Bob for you. You didn’t express your feelings to Jake and he didn’t push too much. He knew that you often liked to spend time alone and he didn’t want to push you into situations that made you uncomfortable.
But then the loneliness turned into anxiety and depression. Jake had been deployed again and it was slowly eating away at you this time. You had made no friends here, your family was thousands of miles away and it was just you in your apartment. Jake wasn’t able to communicate with you like he normally was during missions. It was barely 1 email a week.
When he had left he told you it was supposed to be barely a month away. But then that barely a month turned into two months. Then it turned into three. At the two and a half mark you realized you could no longer stay in the empty apartment and had decided to go stay with your parents awhile. You didn’t know how to break the news to Jake through email so you didn’t. You simply left a note explaining where you had gone.
You had turned your phone off when you arrived at your parents and had kept it off since. Not replying to the emails Jake had sent that the mission was extended another 2 weeks or the worried emails from Javy asking how you were doing and why you weren’t replying to Jake.
You knew that this wasn’t the way to handle the situation. Knew you should’ve just pushed through the last 2 weeks and acted like everything was fine. It killed you to run away from your problems, especially to run from Jake. But you didn’t know how to explain it to him. He was always strong, never wavering, always confident.
At the week and a half mark of being at your parents the thoughts of Jake finding someone better had eased its way into your brain. That was your first thought waking up in the morning and your last thought before going to bed. Your parents had become worried for you. You had stopped eating, barely showered and some days you didn’t get out of bed. You had lost track of how long had passed since you arrived at their house. They were at a loss of what to do.
Then they received a call from Jake. He said he had gotten back to California and you weren’t there to pick him up so he went to the apartment and found the note you had left. He begged them to tell him how you were doing. They didn’t hesitate to tell him everything that they knew. You hadn’t told them much upon your arrival. You showed up with 2 suitcases on a random Saturday afternoon and a request to stay. He told them he would be on the first plane out to get you.
They didn’t tell you about the phone call or the fact that he was heading to get you. Afraid that you would flee somewhere that they wouldn’t be able to find you. They had figured that there was no way he had intentionally done anything if he didn’t even know why you were gone.
Two days had gone by since the first phone call. He had called again and told them that he had talked to his superiors and told them he had a family emergency. He had gotten on a plane with a connecting flight which was the first flight he could find. The third call was to tell them the connecting flight was canceled and he couldn’t find another one so he was on his way by car. But he was going to arrive early that night.
Your parents had tried to get you out of bed when they heard he would be there that day. You didn’t budge. They tried to give you some food. You didn’t budge. They tried getting you to shower. You didn’t budge. They asked if you wanted to get changed. You didn’t budge.
They realized once Jake got there that they would have to send him up to your room. Which was exactly what they did. You had been lying there staring at the ceiling when you heard the front door open. You heard mumbles but couldn’t discern any words or voices. You figured they had guests over so you decided to ignore them. Until you heard footsteps walking up the steps and then whispering outside your door.
The door creaked open, the light from the hallway leaking into the room. “Darlin’ are you awake?” You heard a voice that sounded a lot like your husband's voice. You closed your eyes imagining him there. But there was no way that it was real, he was on a mission that only he and a few others knew where. Then the footsteps moved to the side of your bed. A hand was on your cheek. “Darlin’ can you hear me?” His voice broke the silence of the room again. You slowly blinked your eyes open. Taking in the light of the room and the face above you.
“J-ja-jake? Is that you?” Your voice scratched out for the first time in weeks. The both of you cringing from the way you spoke. Then suddenly your throat was sore. Your body and head ached. Your stomach suddenly felt empty. The emotions you had become numb to all came back to you like a tsunami rushing through a city.
“It’s me darling, I’m here. Can you tell me what happened? I got to the apartment and you were gone. I read the note but I didn’t know anything was wrong darling. You seemed fine in your emails. Everything seemed to be okay before I deployed. I don’t know what happened. Please just tell me what I did wrong. How can I fix this please?” You could feel tears on your face. But you knew you hadn’t been crying, that’s when you realized they were Jake’s tears. You reached a hand up to cup his cheek, wiping away a few tears.
“I didn’t want to worry you cowboy. I didn’t want to ruin your new friendships. I felt like a bother to you guys. You had these bonds with each other, all these inside jokes and moments I had missed. I know how badly you wanted friends like that. I wanted you to be able to have that. I didn’t realize I was shutting down until you left. I just felt so alone. I couldn’t handle it anymore. I want you to be able to find someone better than me Jake. Someone that won’t hold you back.” You croaked out your throat still sore. You slowly sat up reaching for one of the many waters your parents left on your night stand. Jake helped you and turned on the lamp on the same table. When the lights hit your face he could see how sick you looked. Face sunken in, skin much paler than usual and you had looked as though you had lost about 20 pounds since he saw you last. He gasped, swallowing the lump forming in his throat.
He wished he had dug deeper when he realized you were pulling away from him. Every time he had asked if something was wrong you always gave him a smile and reassured him it wasn’t.
As you sat the bottle down he cupped your cheeks in his hands “Darling, you. You are the one I love. You’re not alone. You never were. I’m sorry that I ever made you feel like you were.” He paused for a second taking a deep breath preparing for his speech to you.
“The squad asked about you all the time. Bob missed the silent hangouts you would have at the bar. Javy missed the way you would dance around the busy space with him. The rest of the squad were desperate to get to know you more. I wish I had done more to make you feel like you belonged there. Because you did, you belong everywhere that I am.” You grabbed one of his hands that was still cupping your cheek, emotions wrecking through your body at a speed that you couldn’t comprehend.
“I can’t stay in California without you. I can’t call it home without you. I need you to come back to me please.” Jake begged you tears steadily working their way down both of your faces. “I never wanted you to feel like you were alone. Like you couldn’t come and talk to me. I will spend the rest of my life making it up to. I will leave the Navy the next time my contract is up. I promise. Just please promise to not leave me again.”
“Jakey, I never should have left. I never should have run from you. I just didn’t know what else to do. I didn’t realize how much it hurt me to be alone until you left. How much I desired to have you back and desired to spend time with you until I couldn’t. I didn’t know who I was anymore without it being me, you and occasionally Javy.” You disclosed to him.
“I thought I was ready for you to have friends and for me to be a part of that. But it was all just so overwhelming. I missed it just being us. Having my time with you. I missed you so much. I miss California and I miss our home. I want to come back to you Jake. I don’t want to run anymore. I love you so much. I love the life that the Navy has given us. I love everything that has to do with you.” Your shoulders slumped as you finally spoke the words that had been taking your breath away everyday. Feeling like you could finally get air into your lungs. You could finally breathe without feeling guilt.
“If you come back to California with me. I’ll take as much leave as I can and we can spend time, just you and me. We can do anything and everything you want. If you want to spend time with Javy like we used to then we can. Anything and it’s yours. Just say the words.” He pleaded with you. You brought the hand that wasn’t on his to his cheek. Looking into his eyes you knew he would do absolutely anything it took to have you back.
“I’d like that, cowboy. I just want to spend some time with you first. Then maybe have Javy over. After I start to feel better I think I’d like to slowly be introduced to the rest of the squad if that’s okay with you?” You asked him anxiety rolling over you again not wanting to disappoint him. His face lit up at your words.
“Darling I will give you the world if that’s what it’ll take. You tell me when you’re ready to go back home and we will go. Until then we need to try to get you healthy enough to travel. I don’t want to be rude but you look terrible.” He told you with a slight smile on his face. His hands slowly falling away from your cheeks.
That had you letting out a loud laugh. “It’s good to know you haven’t lost your charm cowboy. Can we start with a shower then something to eat?” You quietly asked him with a small smile on your face.
“If that’s what you want to do, that's what we’ll do. I’ll go start the shower and you stay here.” He told you about to stand up. But you were putting your other hand on his face bringing his lips to yours.
“I will love you until the end of time Cowboy.” You whispered to him resting your forehead on his.
“And I will love you longer than forever Darling.” He spoke back to you giving you a final kiss before heading to the bathroom. You realized then that he wasn’t always strong, never wavering, always confident. There was one thing that could change all of that for him and it was you.
A/N: I struggled with what I was gonna do with this prompt since I got it. Then lighting struck me of course at the craziest time. I had been bouncing between this, @wkndwlff latest installment of Safe Word and spending time with family. Please let me know if you like this part. I’m begging you.

You hadn’t been prepared to meet Javy when you did. It had been a rough day at work and you knew that Jake was going out with Javy so you didn’t want to bother him with your sour mood. You had decided to go home and get a quick shower and head to the pizza place you had gone on your first date with Jake as it gave you a sense of comfort.
At around 6:30 you were rolling up to the small brick building. Stepping out of your car you walked up to the building noticing the lack of cars in the parking lot. You sat down at a booth and waited for the waiter to come to the table tapping your fingers on the top of the table. Luckily you didn’t need to look at the menu as you already knew what you wanted due to the fact you and Jake had come here a few times in the month you guys had been dating.
You looked up as you heard footsteps approaching and saw Jimmy walking towards your table. He was always so nice to the both of you when you guys came in. It definitely felt like you were a part of the family. You had seen his kids here a few times and his wife was always here as well as his wife's parents as it was their business. They had all welcomed you with open arms. You knew that it must have been why Jake and Javy came in so often. To have a little touch of family sense they were both so far from their own.
”Hey Y/N where's Jake tonight?” He asked with a smile pulling out his notepad and pen from his bright red colored apron.
”Him and Javy are having a boys night after work so I’m here by myself tonight” You said with a smile.
”Those boys are always up to something. Will you just be getting your usual tonight?” He looked down as he started writing. You gave him a quick yes and he nodded his head as he got done writing.
“Alright, that should be out shortly. I'll bring your drink in a minute.” He then turned around and started walking back to the kitchen. Bringing out your phone you pulled up your texts with Jake seeing a message from him stating him and Javy just left base and were heading for dinner now. You texted him back a thumbs up and went to scroll through instagram. Jimmy came over with your drink and set it down next to you. You said a quick thank you. He gave you a no problem back. Bringing the drink to your lips you took a sip continuing to scroll through your phone.
After a couple minutes you heard the bell above the door go off. You didn’t pay much attention to it until you felt someone sit down in the booth with you. Turning to see who the hell just sat down you were surprised to see Jake.
“Fancy seeing you here hot stuff.” He flirted with you, throwing his arm across the back of the booth. You blushed and went to reply before seeing someone standing behind him. With wides eyes you looked up and back down to Jake.
“Sorry, I didn’t realize you and Javy were gonna be here tonight. I don’t want to ruin your boys night. I can get my pizza to go.” You quickly got out taking a deep breath afterwards. Worry started bubbling in your chest. He just smiled at you. He knew of your insecurities with meeting his friends but figured Javy was a good place to start with his laid back easy going personality.
“You have nothing to worry about Princess. Javy doesn’t mind spending the night with you. Right Javy?” Jake turned around looking at Javy with a look that told him to agree. Javy nodded his head.
“Yea It’s not a problem. I’d love to get to know the woman that has Jake's head in the clouds even when he's not flying an F/A 18.” Javy smirked as he replied with a twinkle in his eyes. You were excited to hear that Jake thought about you as often as you thought about him.
“Take a seat.” You gestured to the other side of the booth. Jake grinned as Javy slid into the bright red booth.
“Two of my favorite people in my favorite pizza place would ya look at this. How did I get so lucky?” Jake exclaimed loudly causing a blush to bloom on your cheeks and a hearty laugh to come from Javy. Giggling you turned to face Javy and extended a hand to him. He smiled and reached one out to grab yours, giving it a shake. “Pleasure to meet you ma’am.” His soothing voice let out. “Likewise.”
After that Jimmy came back out with the boys drinks and all of your guys’ food.” I threw it all in once I saw you guys come in.” The three of you thanked him and started getting food on your plates. You guys ate with light conversation and lots of laughs. Slowly you started to calm down. Having one of Jake's hands on your thigh under the table helped. When it came time for dessert Jimmy came back around to ask what the 3 of you would like. Jake replied with nothing the same time you and Javy replied with cannolis. Jake just looked at you both with an opened mouth and a roll of his eyes.
“You guys can’t be serious. Cannolis are absolutely terrible.” Javy and you both gasped.
“That may be a deal breaker here pal.” Javy quipped at Jake. Jake looked at him appalled while you giggled. Which made Jake turn to you. You stopped giggling and replied with “I completely agree with Javy. That’s a bit of a deal breaker here.” That made Javy grin. Jake let out a huff and pouted his lips.
“Fine I guess we can get cannolis if that's what you guys really want.” You and Javy highfived and let out a simultaneous “Hell Yeah.”
Jimmy wrote down the cannoli order and turned around heading back to the kitchen. You guys kept up the conversation with more joking and poking at Jake. After dessert came and went you guys paid the bill. The three of you walked outside to go your separate ways. A goodbye high five shared between you and Javy. Then a kiss that started getting very heated until you pulled away from Jake.
“Have a good rest of your boys night Handsome. I’ll see you for dinner tomorrow night.” You said to Jake with a hand on his cheek. He gave your palm a kiss and told you he would text you when he got home that night and that he was happy you and Javy got along so well. You understood why they were so close after hanging out with them together. They got each other on a level you hadn’t seen before in Jake. Plus you could tell that you had gained a new friend in Javy.
Once Jake and Javy got in the truck together Jake turned to Javy expectantly. Javy gave him a playful shake of his head with a grin and told him he really liked her. Jake slapped him on the back. He was ecstatic that two of the people he loved the most got along so well.
A/N: This isn’t my best work and I don’t know if I 100% love this. But I think that it is short and sweet. There should be about 3 more parts to this that I have planned anyways.

The call had come in while you were walking your dogs. You had an airpod in your ear listening to a true crime podcast. The story was just getting to the darkest part when it paused. You pulled your phone out of your pocket seeing your boyfriend's best friend's name come across the screen. Nausea ripped through you as you answered it.
“Jake?” the name came out in a whisper, you’d be surprised if he’d even heard you. Jake had called you many times before but never in the middle of a work day. Your dogs sat at your feet looking at you worriedly. Sensing something was wrong by your change in body language.
“He’s alright gorgeous, just got hurt in a training exercise. They want to keep him overnight for observation. Just wanted to call and ask if you wanted to come down and see him. He hasn’t stopped talking about you and I’m getting sick of looking at his ugly mug.” relief flooded your body as the words settled into your brain. You could hear your boyfriend somewhere in the background protesting his friend's words of insult. You shook your head at their antics.
“I’ve got to take the dogs to the house and I’ll be on my way.” you told the blonde on the other end of the phone. You punctuated the sentence by giving your dogs a silent command to heel as you started walking again. They both came to their respective sides and followed you along. You would have to thank Jake for the double leash belt he had gotten for you for Christmas. It really came in handy as you tried to get ahold of Javy’s mother on the walk home.
“Alright gorgeous, I’ll send you the location. See you soon.” He said reassuringly. You practically ran back to the house you and Javy had bought a year into dating each other. You threw a quick bag together making sure the dogs had food and water before you were heading out.
“I’m here for Javy Machado.” You told the nurse at the front desk fingers thrumming across the smooth surface. He looked at you for a moment, obvious boredom in his eyes.
“What’s your relation to the patient?” He asked you as his fingers typed on the keyboard.
“I’m his girlfriend and emergency contact.” You replied to him sliding your ID towards him. He took it scanning the information with his eyes before handing it back to you.
“Floor three room three thirteen.” he told you before going back to the computer in front of him. You moved towards the elevator quickly pressing the round button for the correct floor. You cracked your knuckles as the elevator dinged, alerting you to the doors opening. You stepped out and read the directions on the wall in front of you. Turning left, you found your boyfriend's room quickly. You didn’t bother knocking instead you all but swung the door open as you stomped into the room.
“Javy Andre Machado.” you scolded him as you stood by his bed. Jake was sitting in the chair beside him giving you a big grin as you crossed your arms over your chest.
“What the hell did you do?” You asked him pointedly. He had the sense to look a little afraid at your outburst.
“Firstly, hello to you too Sugar. Secondly It was a training accident and I’m perfectly fine now. Right Jake?” He asked his best friend as he turned to him expectantly. You raised your eyebrow at the man.
“I ain’t gonna get in the middle of this.” He said, throwing his hands up in surrender.
“Well, are you going to tell me what you did?” You asked him again. He huffed out a breath glaring at his wingman. Then he sat and looked at you. Taking in the running shoes on your feet. You had on a pair of leggings and one of his old academy shirts. Your hair was thrown up in a messy bun, a look he absolutely loved on you. You stood there waiting for his reply that never came.
“What the hell are you doing?” you asked him bewildered.
“What, am I not allowed to look at you?” He asked you, giving you a teasing smile. You gave him a blank look not in the mood for his charm.
“Don’t try to change the subject.” Jake let out a small laugh as you spoke. He quickly shut up as you glared at him.
“I had to eject sugar. I was gonna call you but I didn’t have my phone on me. It’s still in my locker on base. Then when Jake called he refused to let me have the phone. Little asshole wanted to punish me for scaring ya both.” His hand came to run across his face as you rolled your eyes. His thought as he plummeted to the ground was how he absolutely had to survive this fall. There was no way he was leaving you and the dogs behind.
“What the hell were you doing for that to happen?” the image of him falling from the sky flashed through your mind and the nausea from earlier rushed back through you.
“My left engine went out and I couldn’t get it back up. I didn’t have time to land before the right one got hit with a bird strike.” He told you hesitantly reaching for your hand. You walked closer to the bed taking his hand in yours as you sat by his legs. You nodded your head in understanding. His job always had classified and redacted information you weren’t allowed to be privy to. So it was no surprise that he couldn’t give you any more information than he already had.
“You promise you’re okay?” You asked him barely above a whisper.
“I promise Sugar. I’ll be up in the sky again in just a couple of days.” he told you, squeezing your hand in his much larger one.
“Can I stay with you?” You asked him hopefully, not being comfortable leaving his side.
“Of course you can.” An understanding look in his eyes as they met your own. He didn’t want you leaving his side either.
“I can stay at your place tonight and watch Gumbo and Ella for you guys.” Jake spoke up, you had pretty much forgotten about the dogs back at the house. Leave it to Jake for always being prepared and on top of things. Plus the rescues absolutely adored their godfather so you knew they were in good hands.
“Thank you Jake.” you said as you gave him a thankful smile. Jake had always been helpful and a great friend to you since the beginning of yours and Javy’s relationship.
“Anything for you, gorgeous.” He teased you, earning a playful glare from the aviator sitting in the bed beside you. Javy knew he had nothing to worry about though. The relationship between you and his best friend was basically like brother and sister. You both got on like gas in a fire. It was one of the many things he loved about the both of you.
Jake left not too long after, claiming he needed to run back to his apartment to grab his stuff before going to yours and Javy’s house. You laid down next to your boyfriend as comfortably as you could in the tiny hospital bed. You laid your head on his chest listening to his heart beating. He was here with you and there was nothing to worry about now you tried to reassure yourself.
“You called Momma right?” He asked you as his mind drifted to the older women he loved so dearly.
“Mmhmm.” You hummed in reply. Then there was a brief pause as you both enjoyed each other's company. The feeling of home had always been with each other since the moment you first laid eyes on the other.
“You scared me ya know? I can’t live without you Javy.” you told him as the shock started to leave your body. You felt tense as you tried to steady your breathing, not wanting to hyperventilate.
“I know and I’m sorry Sugar. You know I’ll do everything possible to come home to you and the dogs.” he told you as he ran a hand up your back a gesture he knew would soothe you as it did many times before when the anxiety of his job got to you.
“I love you so much Javy.” you whispered into his chest as your eyes started to flutter shut.
“I love you so much more Sugar.” He whispered back to you as his exhaustion finally took over and he was slipping into slumber. A nurse came in at one point to check on him and tell any visitors that visiting hours were over. But as she saw you laying in the bed together she decided that she didn’t get paid enough to care and left you be.
A/N: Thank you so so so much for this request darling anon! Also I made up his middle name because I fucking can.

Jake, how could you miss Bromance Day with Javy?! (I’m kidding)
But also, this is so cute! Jake trying to carry you to bed but trying to figure out how not to wake you up. My heart!
Loverboy
jake "hangman" seresin x fem!reader
"Jakey, just have fun for me," your whine brought out a lovesick smile on his lips. "You can't call me every fifteen minutes and actually expect to enjoy your night out."
[1.1k] | incredibly lovesick jake seresin alert, idk what this is im not even sober, am i ever not drunk, anyway alcohol consumption, javy's bromance w/ jake, just fluff actually he's so cute i'm forever gonna stick up for the loverboy jake agenda
reblog and/or like for a kiss, feedback much appreciated! not proofread.
With his back against the outer wall of the bar, Jane couldn't contain the smile on his lips while tapping away on his phone to find your name.

A/N: This is the finale of my month-long pride celebration and my hundred celly posts. I can't believe I've posted something everyday for the whole month and that I've gotten through all my requests.
