[FIC] Faith to Believe ~ Star Wars Prequels ~ Jaster/Obi-Wan ~ Teen
Title: Faith to Believe Fandom: Star Wars Prequel Era Author: Batsutousai Series: Feel the Change in the Wind Rating: Teen Pairing: Obi-Wan Kenobi/Jaster Mereel Warnings: Alternate Universe, time travel, Jedi culture positive, self-defeating mental space, struggling with self-worth, having an awesome support system Summary: The thing was, happy endings were for crèche tales, not something that happened in real life, not in Obi-Wan's life, at least. Event: @jastobiweek 2024
"I've gone maudlin," Obi-Wan moaned, flopping over sideways on the floor of the records room. A familiar sigh came from the doorway, and Jocasta stepped past Obi-Wan to turn off the holo recording the birth of every Force-sensitive child that the Order was aware of. In the darkness of a room lit only by the emergency lighting and what came in through the crack under the door that had closed behind Jocasta she carefully lowered herself to sit on the cold stone floor next to him. "Why are we being maudlin today?" she asked, instead of asking if Obi-Wan had seen his name on the recording, yet. (He hadn't, and he was beginning to believe he never would, that he would be the only version of himself that would exist, now, because he should have joined the crèche last year, and he hadn't. He still hadn't figured out how to tell Anakin.) "I met a handsome stranger," Obi-Wan said, because if he was going to be maudlin, he was damn well going to be dramatic about it. "Ah, that sort of story," Jocasta said with humour. "Go on, then. Set the scene." Obi-Wan groaned and pushed himself back to sitting up next to her. "He's a soldier. Not really handsome in the classical sense, bit rugged, hasn't shaved in a few days. Nose a little crooked." Jocasta snorted. "Did I ever tell you about how your old master got his nose broken?" Obi-Wan couldn't stop a grin, because he had loved that story as a padawan. Tahl and Micah and Yoda had all told it very differently, and always made sure Qui-Gon was nearby, for the maximum embarrassment. Jocasta had her own spin on it, which Obi-Wan hadn't learnt until after Naboo, when she'd found him haunting the stacks with information on Sith for the sixth week straight, and had decided to tell him embarrassing stories about his late master's padawanhood, until he'd laughed so hard, he'd started to cry.

[FIC] Going Where My Heart Will Take Me ~ Star Wars Prequels ~ Jaster/Obi-Wan ~ Teen
Title: Going Where My Heart Will Take Me Fandom: Star Wars Prequel Era Author: Batsutousai Series: Feel the Change in the Wind Rating: Teen Pairing: Obi-Wan Kenobi/Jaster Mereel Warnings: Alternate Universe, time travel, Jedi culture positive Summary: Jaster and Obi-Wan get their happily ever after. Event: @jastobiweek 2024
"I'm home," Jaster said, and he liked the sound of those words, the freedom to say them, to finally have a home with Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan's smile widened, his blue eyes going bright, and he said, "Welcome home," and Jaster liked those words, too, especially when said by Obi-Wan. And then Obi-Wan stepped forward and Jaster did the same, meeting him in the middle for a kiss. Easy and comfortable, with none of the desperation that had coloured so many of their kisses eight years ago, when they'd been trying to make up for two years apart, and whatever time apart waited for them in future.

[FIC] Star Are Blazing ~ Star Wars Prequels ~ Feel the Change in the Wind ~ pre-JastObi ~ Teen
Title: Stars Are Blazing Fandom: Star Wars Prequel Era Author: Batsutousai Series: Feel the Change in the Wind Rating: Teen Pairing: pre-Obi-Wan Kenobi/Jaster Mereel Warnings: Alternate Universe, time travel, canon-typical violence, dismemberment, Jedi culture positive, True Mandalorian culture positive, Montross is a dick, peacekeeper!Jaster Mereel, adorable!Anakin Skywalker Summary: On Obi-Wan and Anakin's first mission together, they stumble into some ruins that transport them back through time, where they're met by Jaster Mereel and his True Mandalorians.
Event: @jastobiweek 2024
"So, wait," said the Mandalorian who'd introduced himself as Jaster Mereel, he/him, and Obi-Wan tilted his head in a vague sort of 'I'm listening' show, without looking away from the slightly-worn, unfamiliar runic text he was in the process of taking rubbings of, "you're a...Jedi?" Obi-Wan snorted and didn't deign to answer that, given that his first reaction, when the world had stopped spinning, to finding himself and his young padawan surrounded by Mandalorians in an enclosed room, when they'd last been stepping through some open-air rubble, was light his lightsabre. "And you have a slightly feral child," Mereel continued. Obi-Wan glanced over towards Anakin, even as he opened his mouth to take offence, only to sigh and close it again, because Anakin was in the process of stalking some sort of fluorescent yellow fauna, which was at least as large as the boy's hand, one of which was holding a hunting knife that Obi-Wan suspected had been given to him by one of the watching Mandalorians. Slightly feral was...fair. Not entirely wrong.

[FIC] It's Been a Long Road (Getting From There to Here) ~ Star Wars Prequels ~ Jaster/Obi-Wan ~ Teen
Title: It's Been a Long Road (Getting From There to Here) Fandom: Star Wars Prequel Era Author: Batsutousai Series: Feel the Change in the Wind Rating: Teen Pairing: Obi-Wan Kenobi/Jaster Mereel Warnings: Alternate Universe, time travel, canon-typical violence, dismemberment aftermath, torture aftermath, Jedi culture positive, True Mandalorian culture positive, background character death Summary: Obi-Wan and Anakin return to Temple bruised, but victorious. It is not only Jedi awaiting them, and Obi-Wan and Jaster can finally share a second kiss. Event: @jastobiweek 2024
Jaster's hand on Obi-Wan's cheek brought his attention back to him, and he couldn't help the way he leant into the contact, even as he said, "It's not that I'm not very glad to see you, Jaster, but why are you here?" Jaster smiled his familiar, warm, slightly crooked smile again. "So, it turns out that the Jedi welcome any who have been hurt, like Arla has been. Jango found out." Obi-Wan blinked, baffled, for a moment, about why Jaster's youngest would have gone looking for that information—his understanding was that Mandalore had some experience with reconditioning cases, and they were making progress—before it occurred to him that, if Jaster had been the one headed into danger and Anakin saw Obi-Wan right after that comm, he'd have found a way to get them to Keldabe to wait for Jaster to get home. And, if Jaster had been in hyperspace, heading for Coruscant, of course he hadn't been able to answer Obi-Wan's comms; Qui-Gon would be so pleased to discover he'd been correct about it not being a sign that Jaster didn't want to speak with him. "Huh," he said, and then shook his head. "Can I kis—" "Kriffing yes," Jaster interrupted, even as he leant in to meet Obi-Wan halfway. It felt like coming home, sinking into the warmth and adoration and relief Jaster exuded, finally relaxing after too many days walking the edge of a blade.

[FIC] It's Been a Long Night (Trying to Find My Way) ~ Star Wars Prequels ~ Jaster/Obi-Wan ~ Teen
Title: It's Been a Long Night (Trying to Find My Way) Fandom: Star Wars Prequel Era Author: Batsutousai Series: Feel the Change in the Wind Rating: Teen Pairing: Obi-Wan Kenobi/Jaster Mereel Warnings: Alternate Universe, time travel, canon-typical violence, Jedi culture positive, True Mandalorian culture positive, the struggle of placing duty above yourself, kidnapping Summary: Jaster is forced to remain on Mandalore, while Obi-Wan's student is in danger, and Obi-Wan races off to get him back from a Sith. Event: @jastobiweek 2024
"Is Obi-Wan going to...be okay?" Jango asked hesitantly. Jaster remembered Obi-Wan breaking out into tears, and the fear in his eyes and voice when he'd admitted that he was terrified. Remembered the non-promise when Jaster had told him to come home safe, and the way the line had just gone dead. "I don't know," he admitted, and it tasted like ash on his tongue. What would even change in his life if Obi-Wan didn't survive? Would anyone even think to comm Jaster and let him know? Or would he spend weeks and months waiting for a comm? What did he have to show, but a kiss two years gone and stolen hours trading words? Was this really the future he wanted for himself? This endless chasm of distance? Jaster breathed out and stood, refusing to think about those fears, to follow them to the natural conclusion, just as he'd done last night. "I need to get armoured up and get to my office," he said, hated how flat his voice came out. "I have meetings today." "Buir, surely you can take a day–" Jango started. "I will do my duty," Jaster replied, and quit the room. He tried to pretend he hadn't heard, unspoken, 'It's all I have left.'

[FIC] It's Been a Long Time (But My Time Is Finally Here) ~ Star Wars Prequels ~ Jaster/Obi-Wan ~ Mature
Title: It's Been a Long Time (But My Time Is Finally Here) Fandom: Star Wars Prequel Era Author: Batsutousai Series: Feel the Change in the Wind Rating: Mature Pairing: Obi-Wan Kenobi/Jaster Mereel Warnings: Alternate Universe, time travel, canon-typical violence, Jedi culture positive, the struggle of placing duty above yourself, kidnapping, torture, dismemberment, Sithly machinations, character death Summary: The wrong beings have finally heard about the time travelling Jedi, and decide that grabbing one and discovering what they know is necessary. Event: @jastobiweek 2024
"Ani," Obi-Wan choked out, and Qui-Gon and Rún raced back over to his side. "Hi, Master," Anakin whispered, very clearly trying to smile, as if Obi-Wan couldn't see that he was terrified. "Where are you, Padawan?" Qui-Gon asked, while Obi-Wan tried to reach for his bond with Anakin, but it was stretched too far. Anakin swallowed a jerked a quick look over his shoulder. "So, about that," he said, a shake in his voice. "I'm pretty sure I'm on Naboo, I remember pulling battle droid parts out of a droid passage just like this after the occupation. But I don't, I'm not certain." "I'll call ahead to Temple, have them prep a ship," Rún said, and took a step away. "Can you close your eyes and breathe for me for a moment, Ani?" Obi-Wan asked as he started running, trusted Qui-Gon to keep them headed in the correct direction and not running into anything. "I don't–" Anakin reached up with one hand and covered his mouth, muffling a quiet sort of whine. "No," he whispered, and a tear fell from one eye. "Are you hurt?" Obi-Wan demanded. Anakin shook his head, even as another tear fell. "An–" Obi-Wan started. "Think you can hide from me, little Jedi?" a voice snarled, one that was familiar, although Obi-Wan had never before heard the speaker speak in quite that tone. "You think I can't sense your disgusting light?" "Palpatine," Obi-Wan breathed. Anakin jerked his head in a terrified nod, and then mouthed, 'Sith.' There was a flash of light, a brief scream from Anakin, and the comm cut.

[FIC] Been Through the Darkness ~ Star Wars Prequels ~ Feel the Change in the Wind ~ pre-JastObi ~ Teen
Title: Been Through the Darkness Fandom: Star Wars Prequel Era Author: Batsutousai Series: Feel the Change in the Wind Rating: Teen Pairing: Obi-Wan Kenobi/Jaster Mereel Warnings: Alternate Universe, time travel, canon-typical violence, Jedi culture positive, True Mandalorian culture positive, danger to children, Death Watch, Tor Vizsla being an asshole, character death (it's Tor) Summary: Jaster hadn't expected to see Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi or his feral student again, but it turns out it is a very small galaxy. Event: @jastobiweek 2024
Jango came over to join him, kneeling on the cushion next to him as Jaster opened the first file in the packet, which was a video. It opened in a dark room filled with the shadows of bodies. Someone was crying quietly nearby, and someone else breathed out a curse in Mando'a. A door opened, flaring bright light through the room, and three beings in armour stepped into the room. One stayed by the door, but the other two strode forward, bodies shifting as they got out of the way. "You should all be honoured!" a voice called in Republic Basic, as the two beings stopped moving in what was probably the centre of the room, assuming who- or whatever was recording was at the farthest point from the door. "You are in the presence of your Mand'alor!" The lights flared to life in the recording, and the entire crowd flinched, the recording jerking like it, too, had been surprised by the sudden light. Jaster felt his eyes widen as he recognised the armour of one of the two beings in the centre of the room, their back to the recording device, and his certainty crystalised when Tor said, "You are honoured, for you have been chosen, deemed suitable to join our cause: that of true Mandalorians, of the Death Watch. You will learn to fight, to survive, to be conquerors. You will never again find yourselves to be weak. Your tears will dry up, for you will have no cause to shed them. "And, to those among you who show the greatest potential, an even greater honour awaits you: I will welcome you into my own clan, name you my own children. You will be trusted as leaders, commanding hundreds in the war against the Cowards and the Faithless, those who hide behind their false Mand'alor and the accursed Republic. We will erase those who are too weak, too afraid, from the history of Mandalore, as has ever been our way. "You will be my Faithful, training in secret, until the day we can step out into the light light and take what is ours!" And then Tor raised a fist above his head, revealing a hilt, which lit with a burning black blade: the Darksabre. "I alone hold this artefact, this relic of Mand'alore past, and it proves me, not that pretender as the true Mand'alor! With it, I will lead us into our glorious future!" The other armoured being standing with Tor motioned with their hands, and the crowd hesitantly started cheering. The recording panned slowly around, and Jaster flinched as he realised that every member of the crowd was a child, many with signs that they'd been crying recently, almost all of them with visible bruising, cuts, or torn clothing.
