Alexander Hamilton has survived crippling poverty, yellow fever, and a fucking hurricane. He is not about to splatter his brains across the courtyard because he’s drunk and Jefferson made eyes at him.

Like he can read his mind, Thomas stretches, robe riding up and showing off the curve of his body, a flash of bone and sinew that makes Alex’s mouth go dry. He stubs out his cigarette and makes to go inside, shooting one last glance in Alex’s direction.

He jumps.

This should probably feel wrong or weird but somehow it didn’t. Deep down he knows this was something they both secretly wanted for a while. Honestly all they ever did when Alex came into Thomas’s office was bicker and anyone listening in would definitely change that ‘b’ word to flirt. The drinks from earlier must have taken the edge off and got them to a point where they could finally give into that desire. That’s the only explanation Alex has for allowing himself to be pulled on to Thomas’s lap while the man still had his tongue shoved into his mouth, kissing him deeply.

Summary: Alex washes ashore on a desert island with only one other inhabitant. The waters are dangerous, Thomas warns, but Alex is too determined to get to New York to pay heed.

Excerpt:

He should be in America by now. Not here. Here, where he’s probably going to die alone, everyone from back home waiting to hear news of his arrival only to never hear anything at all. A failed investment. He has college to get to, for fuck’s sake, and now he’s going to die alone, a no one.

He drops his head into his hands. How is he so lucky he had a ticket off that damned island, only to end up on another one? How is he just lucky enough to have survived getting swept into the ocean, only to end up dying weeks later, never having had his chance? Better that he’d hit his head on the way down into the water and drowned. 

“You should have announced yourself sooner,” someone chuckles. 

Alex shoots his head up, startled, and blinks quickly at the approaching figure, a dozen yards away. Then he blinks again, because surely dehydration is setting in, and he's hallucinating. There is no way a man who looks like that, beautiful as anyone he’s ever seen, is walking naked on a beach towards him. His mouth drops a little agape, cheeks flushing. This isn't happening.

The stranger cocks a smile with a mouth full of unusually white teeth. “I would have had the chance to prepare some proper hospitality for you if I'd been expecting a guest  And, well, put some clothes on. Isn’t often out here that I get visitors.”

Alex tears his eyes up from the man’s very naked body and up to his face. His face is just as perfect to match, glowing brown skin and a perfect halo of dark silky curls that shine despite the salty air. His mouth goes drier.

So maybe he isn’t as dehydrated as he thought, since that’s somehow still possible. But insanity seems less likely, since it’s only been a week of solitude—but what does that leave? That the man really is a man? That this island isn’t really fully uninhabited?

He scrambles up off the ground, brushing off his tattered clothes. 

“I thought—it’s just—” he stammers, eyes wide. “I thought it was just me.”

The man comes to a stop in front of him, unashamed, and Alex would think he was oblivious to his nudity if he hadn’t just acknowledged it. “Sorry to disturb your peace, then. When did a creature like you wash up here? These are dangerous waters. You should have known better.”

I finally got a chance to read through all of chapter 11.

You are an incredible writer. I can’t wait for 12. Please if at all possible don’t make us wait toooo long.

There is so much to love about this. I left a comment about my absolute fave’s within the story. Dolly being my all time favorite part. I also love the scene between Thomas and Jack. They both need to get their heads out of their respective rumps. I hope John/Jack finally lets Alex know he still loves him and puts his childish crap away.

I want to reread it. I wish work was not so crazy. Still doing 3 jobs and the single Mom thing. Leaves very little time for me unfortunately.

I can't believe i missed replying to this @who-knew-what! I'm so sorry! It made me so happy when this came in, I read it SO many times.

I'm so glad you liked chapter 11, and I love, love, love how much love Dolley is getting. I think I've already previewed so it's not a massive spoiler that she's got a role to play in C13 too, so I'm quite excited for everyone who likes her to read that part now!

Wish I was closer on Ch12 for you, but good news is it's still moving along. At least with how long it's taking me, you'll hopefully get some time to reread 11!

A purposefully tiny and vague quote from PD12, in apology for it taking so long;

“Maybe we should talk about this tomorrow?” Thomas calls back after a moment. “When I get paid to try not to throttle you?” “I’m not going to have had a lobotomy by then, you know,” Alex mutters, trailing after him.

I *love* modern political Jamilton AUs, but the lack of general knowledge about Washington, D.C./U.S. politics creates so many missed opportunities. For instance, most people don't seem to know (or choose to ignore) that the Secretary of Treasury and the Secretary of State do not work in the White House.

The Treasury Building is a 20 minute walk* from the State Department. The idea of Alexander or Thomas making that trip just to argue with the other in-person is absolutely hilarious. (Or, even funnier, one being forced to make the trip because the other is screening calls, etc.)

Also, there is the amusing possibility of banning each other from their respective buildings in purely petty acts of retaliation.

*Technically, it's only 20 minutes if you cut through the White House lawn, which has restricted access. It's a 30 minute walk for the public or a 5-10 minute drive.
