"Alright, alright, jesus." Jamie rolled his eyes with a hard scowl leveled right back at Mikey. His eyes wandered the dusted remnants of the place- cracked walls, bullet-hole ridden glass. The place was just a haunting memory of what had once been splendor wrapped in brand new extravagance... Now it was dark, abandoned, and spooky even.
He paced a few times beside Mikey before something along the far wall caught his attention and without a word Jamie slipped away to go wander. Maybe it was against his better judgement to be poking around in places where the threats could be invisible and silent, but Jamie wasn't really one to measure all the risks anymore- he left that old thought out to death lawyer lifestyle behind for impulse and curiosity.
He had a sinking pang of danger that began to swirl low in his stomach after a few minutes, but tried to ignore it, swallowing down the way it wormed its way up his throat. "What'd'you have against me so bad- I can't even breathe wrong without it yanking your shorts up your ass." Something glittered on the floor and Jamie crouched down to reach for it, slowly pausing and looking up when he heard the guttural clicking throat noise in the hollow space between himself and the curved corner of the room. Where he should've warned Mikey that something was in there Jamie was seized with utter silence- always one to be silenced by fear.
@lymbycsystem said you're fucking up on purpose, aren't you? (jamie mikey)

Michael scoffed, directing a stern glare at Jamie from behind the blank computer screen. It was a miracle that the thing even still turned on, but he didn't have any idea how to access any files or even get past the security code.
"You wanna fuckin' do this?" He asked, almost aggressively. It was annoying enough to be stuck on this island - even worse to be stuck on it with Jamie of all people; Trevor's new little boy toy as Mikey called it. "There's a million possibilities for this security code, asshole. It's not as simple as just turning on the computer and a map of the island pulls up - InGen's not a bitch about their security whether this place is abandoned or not."

i feel like there's so much that i don't quite know where to start, so it's best to get right into it before i lose focus. america is strange in some ways, but nice in others. people tend to be more blunt than either of us might be accustomed to, but are generally kind to newcomers. they seem to like the irish a bit; a lotta of irish pubs in some areas where they're pleased to hear me talk about home. strangers don't always have the same sort of politeness or boundaries, but i suppose that is our social differences and not necessarily a bad thing.
not sure if i can say i've made friends yet, nor anyone i've considered dating. there are people in class who i like and talk to frequently. we go for drinks and they are interested in small town life, most being city folk. but i don't know if they are people who will remain in my life for long — not the way you and i seem to circle back into the same world so often after time away. (i mean nothing by this other than you know i am fond of you and value your presence. please don't hold it against me, but you are welcome to emphasize boundaries if needed.) it would be nice if they do, but i won't get my hopes up yet.
enough about me, which you know is not my preferred subject. i am glad to hear about aimee. she sounds like a pleasant person; i'm curious if the shades of yellow ever vary or if she has one in particular? i'm imagining her with curly hair for some reason. it's nice to know that jamie and peggy aren't there to bother you anymore, otherwise i'd feel the need to return just to give them a stern talking to.
forgot to mention another thing that i have learned about america: most of the time, new york in movie isn't actually new york, but rather some other city. sometimes canada — toronto and vancouver are frequent filming locations, i hear — or it's a studio set-up. actual on-location production seems to be more expensive, but most movies do a good job at capturing it. you'd like it here; there's some nice bookshops.
i won't let myself ramble too much, but i could go on if you care to hear more. hope you're well and that you'll tell me about your current routines. i like hearing those, even if they are mundane. i'll send photos of some of the sites soon when i can.
@nearestend,
Classes started up last week and it was strange to not see you in them. I've made a new friend, Aimee. She's from Cork and she wears the color yellow every single day. She doesn't know Jamie or Peggy, which is nice. I haven't seen them in a long time.
How are you liking America? Is it like how they say in the movies? I bet you're making lots of friends. You've always been popular. Are you seeing anyone?
Write back soon. Or don't. I'll probably keep writing you anyway.
Marianne
