i feel like i mightve posted this before but au where james is in love with remus and remus is best friends with regulus & lily, one of whom is in love w james (i think this could really work w jeggy or jily, it's up to you)

remus likes sirius and when he tells james he's going to ask sirius out james panics, kisses remus, and then runs off bc he feels terrible

either reg or lily sees (whoever doesn't like james) and they panic w remus. eventually whoever has a crush on james finds out, thinks remus kissed james and not the other way around, and gets pissed.

the person who likes james ends up running into james himself, and the two of them bond over being heartbroken and end up together without their friends helping
