unbelievable that people seriously are out there arguing that chapter 6 of the haunting of hill house is not an exploration of eleanor's repressed (lesbian) sexuality or that the theme of women's sexuality in general is not central to the book... we go from her exploring her relationship to luke (he's uninteresting to her), to some scrapbook made by a crazed religious man telling his daughter her stepping out of line will result in eternal damnation, to the walk eleanor and theodora take where we have it said explicitly that they are dancing around the question of asking whether the other is in love with them...
