The words Damon just said to Kelly is probably going to have him questioning his growth & his ability to be a father. He's going to take it hard that he couldn't make it work with Damon & that's going to make him think maybe he is doomed to be like Benny despite how hard he's worked to outrun that shadow.

One thing that AN ain't lied about is the HAUNTING of the past this season is bringing. I get it, Damon was a plot device to sow discord in Kelly's mind regarding his growth.

Now I'm thinking worse case scenarios because please don't tell me Stella's going to be ready & Kelly's going to change his mind.

they've introduced this lad in chicago fire who's called JACK DAMON, and he's like, sneaking around a bit, has been overheard saying "i don't want anyone here to find out", and mentions taking a guy's course who doesn't remember him being in class and i was like TRANS?????

especially because chicago fire has a thing where one of the main lieutenants organised this girls on fire thing that's intended to get young women into firefighting, and he knows a lot about both the woman that runs it and her boyfriend, severide

and i was like, OH, maybe he was like, one of the initial girls on fire students but then transitioned and he doesn't want anyone to know he's trans in the fire crew

but unfortunately i don't think it's nearly as interesting a plot twist as that

the actor seems to be cisgender from a cursory google (cringe), and the fan theories are all about like. if he's somehow severide'ss son - i think having considered it, it's likely to be revealed that he's severide's younger brother

obviously that's quite boring and pretty run of the mill, but like. you know when you're engaging w loads of queer media for a while, and then you watch het media and they accidentally put in all these dots that a het person would not connect, but could very easily do so? alas

I’m not here trying to defend Damon. But some of y’all have clearly never tried to impress someone and have it backfire royally. Should he have lied to Stella? Of course not. Should Kelly have come down harder on him? Yes. But there is still so much about the character we don’t know.

Clearly his self worth seems to be tied to getting the approval and praise from those around him and right now he's latched on to Kelly and while he went about it in a really fucked up way and he deserved the fall out. I can’t help but feel bad for him - and if this is the end of the character, I’ll be kinda annoyed.

Fire has had a retention problem as of late, and I can’t enjoy the show if every time they bring in someone new they’re either bland or leave quickly.

Time for my very unpopular opinion but before I start I have to say this. I showed it to my much wiser friend and she told me that after reading it she felt how pissed I am. Well, it’s true. I am pissed. I know this show isn’t the best you can watch right now but it doesn’t mean I feel good about lowering the bar. As a fan I feel like I have the right to express my feelings and right now? Girl, my feelings are extreme loud. Because I feel like they treat their viewers like idiots and I don’t like being treated that way.

So, don’t mind the bitterness and anger - I’m really curious what you think about Jack Damon. Probably I’m one of few people who feels that way but who knows 🤷🏼‍♀️

This Damon storyline? One of the worst things Chicago fire writers came up with. Ever.

It messes with canon - how on Earth no one find about him when Benny died? They were looking for his medal and met with his exes, nothing. Kelly inherited Benny’s house, cabin, etc - he had to meet with the attorney? And again, Damon’s name never came up? I’m not even saying ’he didn’t come to the funeral’ because this one would be understandable after we heard what kind of relationship they had. But, the writers will have to be very very careful to make it all believable.

And I see so many people happy that we will have a chance to see protective brother Kelly. May I remind you that we already saw that? With his sister, Katie? They could bring her back - and focus on developing already existing relationship, not create another one, straight from soap opera.

Besides, what do you all mean with protective brother. Helping him out on a call? He does it to everyone. Protect him from his abusive dad? Well, a little too late for that.

I could agree that he might be the supportive brother - but if he would help him to get a promotion or anything like this… it would turn Sev into a hypocrite who hated when people used Benny’s career to mess with his own, and this whole thing was the reason he didn’t want to use his connections to help Stella find a permanent spot so people wouldn’t accuse her of using nepotism to move a ladder.

I could agree that Kelly needs someone close to him besides Stella, since Casey left he doesn’t have that person. But why it couldn’t be someone outside the firehouse? Yeah, Damon is his brother but again it’s another person who works with him. Also, we saw the nice bond between Sev and Violet, we need more of this. Kelly needs his fierce paramedic friend 😉

And they got rid of another black firefighter - one that Stella personally hired, so we can get another new guy whose only personality is ��being mysterious about his family”.

And I’m a bitter person so Damon lying to Stella and Kelly still pisses me off. I can understand his point but it doesn’t change the fact that he didn’t say why he came to 51 and based on the phone call Ritter heard, he didn’t plan on telling it so soon (I’m gonna keep it that way as long as I want to). The circumstances changed and it’s because of that he told Sev the truth.

The show won’t be back for another few weeks and yet I’m already so fed up with Damon. Wish me luck on this new season…

What is the purpose of introducing Damon as Kelly's brother?

Clearly, he will be gone by the next episode. He didn’t bring anything new just the norm, another tension between Kelly and Stella that resolved at the end.
