RWBY/Destiny (video game) AU
So a while back this idea would not leave my head, of a Destiny AU for RWBY. More specifically, of how team RWBY and team JNPR would translate to the Destiny world. And I got really into it and I got a bit granular and here it is.
(With regards to aesthetics, one can assume their armor reflects the color palettes they wear in the show.)
Ruby is a Hunter/Arcstrider/Wind. I felt like this best reflected both her mobility in combat and her use of a deadly polearm. She uses: Raiden Flux with an ornament called Slayer that gives it the appearance of her corset. Her red hood was with her when she was Risen. Izanagi’s Burden with an ornament called Crescent Rose (naturally) which gives it the appearance of her scythe. And her other weapons, Recluse and Wendigo. Because Ruby loves weapons and is all about that optimal damage output.
Weiss is a Warlock/Dawnblade/Sky. Lots of air-mobility and shooting bolts of fire, that seemed like her to me. She uses: Starfire Protocol with an ornament called Snowpea to give it the appearance of her pea coat. Throwing out grenades and dropping lots of rifts seems like a way to come close to Weiss’s use of dust and glyphs. Lumina, because again, her glyphs are often used to empower and enhance her allies, and this seemed like a good way to represent it. Also it’s a revolver, so naturally it has an ornament called Myrtenaster that makes it look like her rapier. And her other weapons Loaded Question and Komodo-4FR. I feel that fusion rifles reflect Weiss’s emphasis on precision and timing, having to think ahead in combat.
Blake is a Hunter/Nightstalker/Trapper. Enhanced senses, able to vanish at a moment’s notice, and capable of binding up enemies and making it harder for them to move. She uses: Gemini Jester which helps with the misdirection that her Semblance causes in the show, with an ornament called Intruder that makes it look like those nice thigh-high boots of hers. Black Talon, with an ornament called Gambol Shroud. And her other weapons Breachlight (because it’s a kickass sidearm) and Techeun Force.
Yang is a Titan/Striker/Juggernaut. Naturally. She uses: Mask of the Quiet One with an ornament called Ignite. It still looks like mail over a helmet, but lavender eyes glow from beneath them and instead of horns it has long golden hair. When the perk is active, the eyes turn red and the hair glows. Fighting Lion with an ornament called Ember Celica, which styles it like one of her gauntlets. This seems like Yang to me, an explosion, a punch to reload, then another explosion. And her other weapons, Hawthorne’s Field-Forged Shotgun (a god-roll with One-Two Punch and Graverobber) and Roar of the Bear. Yang doesn’t do ‘subtle.’
Jaune is a Titan/Sentinel/Protector. All about protecting the team. He uses: Heart of Inmost Light with an ornament called Pumpkin Pete that makes it look like a breastplate, with the cracks that have light leaking through showing the iconic bunny. Monte Carlo, as Jaune doesn’t have a ranged attack in the show, it seems appropriate he would have a gun the gives him his melee back. The ornament, Crocea Mors, makes the bayonet appear like his sword. And his other weapons, Prophet of Doom and Throne-Cleaver.
Nora is a Titan/Sunbreaker/Devastator. Here to throw hammers and smack with hammers. She uses: Hallowfire Heart with an ornament called Leg Breaker that makes the window to the inner fire into her heart design. Risk Runner, because getting hit by arc attacks charges her up! Her Magnhild ornament gives it a nice big drum-mag. And her other weapons, Mountaintop and Through Fire and Flood. Nora needs grenade launchers.
Pyrrha is a Titan/Sentinel/Aggressor. When her momentum gets going, she’s very hard to stop. She uses: Ursa Furiosa, so she’s almost always got her Super. Her ornament Akoúo̱ is asymmetrical, with the shield on the left arm. Symmetry with an ornament called Miló giving it her show weapon’s aesthetic. And her other weapons, Perfect Paradox and Line in the Sand. I decided to give her Season of Dawn, Saint-14 themed weapons because I feel like she’s a similar kind of tragic hero.
Ren is a Hunter/Nightstalker/Wraith. Precise, mobile, and deadly up-close when he wants to be. He uses: Gwisin Vest so he can keep getting his Super and cut stuff down with his blades. His ornament Water Flower makes it resemble his tailcoat. Eriana’s Vow, a weapon of vengeance and perseverance, which I think is very Ren. The ornament StormFlower gives it a bayonet similar to his guns in the show. And his other weapons, Lonesome and Crooked Fang-4fr, so that he has a good sidearm and a high-damage precision attack.
As for lore, I haven’t quite figured that out yet. I feel like team STRQ were pre-City. Summer helped Yang after she was Risen, and Yang helped Ruby, especially after Summer vanished. I imagine the teams were formed when these Guardians got to the Last City.
Cinder seems like a good candidate to be someone trying to be a Shadow of Yor, someone to claim the title Dredgen. I’m sort of seeing her as a Hunter/Gunslinger/Thousand Cuts.
