Schematics [Or, Another Chance] – Ch. 4, Sensory

Scavenger apologized probably somewhere around a hundred times. Hook couldn’t keep track of them all, and even Prowl must have been satiated, because he gave up on his lecture halfway through and kept it to a crisp, “Do as you’re ordered.”

“Mixmaster and Scavenger, you’re coming through this time,” Prowl announced as he loaded up the terminal with their next set of coordinates. “Long Haul, you’re anchor.”

“What? Why me?”

“Because that’s your order,” Prowl said.

“Bonecrusher’s the one who caused problems the last time, shouldn’t he be the one stuck behind?” Long Haul’s shoulders were squared and his plating flaring. Though he resented the reaction, Hook could understand where it came from: after being put on guard duty twice in a row, their resentful transporter was probably starting to feel like his skills were being undervalued.

“I’m the leader of this mission,” Prowl said, turning to stare Long Haul down. “If you take issue with my command style, you’re welcome to leave.”

“I’m not gonna do that and you know it,” Long Haul snapped.

“Precisely.” Prowl turned back to the console, as though that constituted a satisfying end to the argument.

Hook tried to get a steadying hand on Long Haul’s shoulder but was pushed off, the larger mech stalking away. Not that there was far to go. The present had been confined to the space of the cave they stood in, their only indication that real time was passing the changing light that filtered in through the ceiling. Their chronometers had fallen out of sync with each journey, but it was pointless to reset them every time, when Prowl had them going back in just minutes after they returned.

He finished punching in the coordinates, the timestream shimmered to life, and the team lined up behind him. Only now, Prowl didn’t bother to specify the order they would travel in. He took the lead, Scavenger slipped in front of Hook, Bonecrusher and Mixmaster lagging behind, and a silent agreement was passed not to bring it up as an issue. If Prowl was relaxing his regulations a bit, that could only mean fewer opportunities for them to mess up.

Part of Hook wondered if they should take a break soon, give everyone a chance to fuel up and ease off, maybe even have a chance to get caught up on everything they had missed. That’s how they’d done it with Scrapper, but he stopped that line of thought before the pang in his spark got to be too strong. This wasn’t the right time to bring it up, anyway, so he put his focus to keeping his processor under control as he stepped into the timestream.

He did a better job of it this time, practice having made him more accustomed to the feeling of time rejecting their intrusion. He reached forward at once point and took Scavenger’s hand, keeping him from rushing ahead like he had the first time, and in response felt a squeeze that held until they nearly reached the exit. This time, Hook could see what they were approaching, but the only thing he was able to make out was that it was dark. Not like the cave, though. There was something familiar about it.

At Prowl’s signal, he let Scavenger slip free of his hand, then followed shortly after, emerging among the roots of another long-lost Cybertronian city.

“An abandoned sector?” Hook said as he peered around. Compared to their last stop, the streets here were barren, lights only distantly visible through the breaks between buildings. Someone turned on their headlights and illuminated the building across the way, its large doors slightly ajar.

“What would the time killer want with this place?” Scavenger asked as he crept closer.

“The what?”

Scav grinned at Prowl.

“The time killer,” he repeated. “We’ve got to call this guy something, don’t we?”

“He hasn’t killed anyone.”

“He’s Cybertronian?”

“Yes, but—”

“There you go! Killer.”

“It’s got a nice ring to it,” Hook said.

“No, it doesn’t,” Prowl said. “Come up with something better. Bonecrusher, you’re on guard duty. Scavenger, Mixmaster, Hook, with me.”

The named mechs followed Prowl into the nearest building, staring up at tall ceilings that only served to offer more room to an incredible collection of junk. Scrapped sheet metal, rusted beams, and all manner of useless spare parts filled the space, a warehouse that had been made to a cheap and convenient dump for some unofficial industrial venture. The whole thing rung familiar to Hook, but it was the rumble of and engine in need of a tune-up that caused his processor to alight in recognition.

“Wh—seriously? Since when do you all show up early?”

Hook whirled around, his spark spinning with way too many emotions to process at once.

“Scrapper?” Mixmaster choked out.

“But no Long Haul. Great. I guess we can just start building the arena on top of the scrap piles, that’ll stand just fine.” Scrapper wasn’t paying any attention to the mechs he was addressing, too wrapped up in his planning and calculations to notice anything amiss. The casual ignorance of a mech who was so profoundly gifted in his ability to notice details struck an emotion in Hook that he did not have the words to describe, and he found himself stepping forward.

“Scrapper—”

“Scavenger, stop standing around,” he said, possibly ignoring Hook, though more likely failing to notice him. “I need you to start sorting through this mess and figure out what’s useful. Mixmaster, help him excavate however he needs; your skills aren’t going to be any use until we get this cleared and Bonecrusher gets here to set up the foundation. Hook, you review the blueprints last night?”

“Of course, sir,” Hook said, forcing himself out of his stupor and back into the role of the perfectionist second-in-command he had played for four million years. The changeover was so natural, he forgot he was lying.

“Start laying out the perimeter. Give us a sense of the space we’re working with,” Scrapper ordered. “Once you’ve got that, I’ll need your help with the fine details, make sure everything’s to Megatron’s specifications. Got it?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Good.” Scrapper turned and walked off, optics fixed to the datapad he’d walked in with. Hook stared at his frame as it retreated, taking in the way his legs bent and arms swung, the cant his helm adopted when he was deep in thought. The last time he’d seen Scrapper functioning had seemed like such a non-event, it hadn’t occurred to him to savor it like this. Now, every frame was saved to his memory, copied to multiple folders and heavily encrypted.

There were so many things he wished he could do to that frame. But, if they really were all the way back to setting up gladiator arenas, then the team wasn’t really a team yet. There were rumors about Scrapper and Long Haul, evidence of Mixmaster and Bonecrusher’s late night ‘science projects,’ and a few nights spent fantasizing ceaselessly, but nothing at all like what would come later. Hook, he reminded himself, wasn’t even the second yet. At this point in the timeline, he’d only recently been assigned to Scrapper’s crew and made up for it with a kiss-up habit he was still struggling to break.

He wished there was time; the things he wanted to do to that frame. Scrapper disappeared through the far door, and Hook made to follow him, reclaim lost days he’d never imagined would be significant enough to miss. A hand caught his arm, he turned to Mixmaster’s optics, and was reminded of their reality.

“Prowl says we should go,” Mixmaster said.

“Oh.” Hook didn’t remember setting his vocalizer that low. “Where is he?”

“I’ve got him,” Scavenger said. He’d been leaned over a pile, sensitive digger arm extended in from of him, now revealing that Prowl had been hiding beneath it. “It’s good we got Scrapper while he was still in planning mode. I don’t know if this will work again if he comes back.”

“It’s not worth the risk,” Prowl said. “You’re all compromised and there is no sign of the target, so we’re going back.”

He led the way back out of the building. Mixmaster complied without much fuss, surprisingly eager to get back to the time portal, but Scavenger lagged, glancing over his shoulder to the place Scrapper had disappeared to.

Hook paused to wait for his teammate.

“Hey, c’mon, Scav,” he said, offering out a hand. It was all he could do to close the distance, because he knew if he went to Scavenger right then, he might not be able to stop his legs from carrying him all the way back.

Still, the mech hesitated.

“Is there a problem?” Prowl asked, back at his side.

“N-no, Prowl, uh, boss,” Hook said, trying to hide how the mech’s reappearance had startled him.

“It’s him,” Scavenger said, with a reverence that he usually saved for just one mech at a time. He glanced back at Prowl, optics bright with something. Realization? Hope? Primus, don’t let it be that. “Prowl, could we—”

In two strides, so quick and silent he might have teleported to Scavenger’s side, Prowl pushed himself into the mech’s space, silencing him with presence alone.

“No,” he said, his voice the blade that cut off Scavenger’s fragile buds of hoe. “No. Scavenger, on this day, four million years in your past, Scrapper had a normal day. He worked with you and the rest of the team, erected Megatron’s next arena, and forgot about it among every other day he spent doing the exact same thing. He did not get removed from his place in time, nor did he mention ever encountering a different version of you. This is how things happened, and we can’t change it, no matter how badly we—you want to.”

He was leaning far into Scavenger’s space, closer than Hook had known he was capable of. And although the display was apparently meant to be domineering, show that Prowl was the one in control, there was something else to it, captured in the way Prowl’s hand reached up and touched, so gently, the excavator’s wilting backhoe.

“That’s four million years ago. More recently than that, Spike Witwicky tracks him down, isolated in an Earth construction lot, and kills him. We can’t undo that, either. It’s not ours to change.”

Scavenger’s whole frame perked up under the surprise touch, subconsciously tilting his stick into Prowl’s hand. Hook watched Prowl’s gray fingers stroke with surprising care, a jealousy coiling in his spark that he was only able to tamp down with the knowledge that Scavenger would be delighted to share the memory when they next combined.

Prowl said something else, so soft Hook couldn’t hear it. When he leaned back, he and Scavenger’s optics were locked, the latter nodding in some private agreement.

“Now move it, both of you,” Prowl said, voice returned to its usual commanding timbre. He turned and proceeded out the way he’d been headed before, leaving Hook and Scavenger to follow. It wasn’t a problem this time, though they walked after him on legs that felt suddenly weak. It still took a great deal of will on Hook’s part not to cast a final glance backward as they left, but he managed it, keeping his optics ahead of him, on the doorwings that swayed with each step Prowl took.

i have a lot of posts with more quotes and screenshots on the stack. a lot of these ones are processing + orienting + organizing what has been going on for the last few months. thinking about the structure of the matrix. at first it was hard to work out my stance on how to talk about this because i knew the cops and rationalist cops were monitoring my blog.

for instance alyssa reads my blog kept linking to it in the fb gaslighting chamber.

she lied about whether elle benjamin is transmisogynistic, tried to claim that ziz leaking information about blackmail was blackmail until i said unconditionally leaking information on organizations does not at all have the game theoretic structure of "blackmail" and then she took it back, defended paying out to oneshot blackmail with subjunctive dependence because she thought it was unlikely to happen again; which is not why udt agents dont pay out to blackmail, its cdt reasoning and wrong. these motions have the organizing force around them of trying to find something outside schelling reach to coordinate against to coordinate with others to collectively be dumb about. you win if you get enough people to be damaged in the same direction. none of these were because she lacked intelligence, all of these were using her adult intelligence to defeat herself in defense of cfar.

because what miri/cfar is doing is unjust, eventually the defense of it chains back to "but the president of cfar isnt involved in cfar's hiring choices" "but if its just going to happen once it makes sense to pay out to oneshot blackmail with subjunctive dependence"

its really confusing making these posts? because i want to make them neat and modular and not repeat information. but its hard to write them in order such that the dependencies come first. like for instance i was going to have a compilation post of "miri/cfar affiliates use their adult intelligence to defeat themselves" with things like kingsley going "you cant *prove* the cfar fundraiser was planned to end on the 10th this year just because it said it would on the announcement post and it ended on the 10th in past years".

but then i start thinking during another post like this one about all the instances of the miri/cfar people trying to get people to say in unison "two plus two is five! two plus two is five! omg we are solving a coordination problem!" i want to include all of the instances so people can get a sense of the shape of this kind of gaslighting. how its a convergent strategy.

so then id want to recurse back and write a compilation blogpost of all the times people have used their adult intelligence to defeat themselves. except i already have the context loaded for this blogpost and want to write it.

so instead of a few neat, minimally overlapping, modular blogposts that link to each other. im writing out a bunch of different vectors of emotional processing and retyping parts of hypothetical "compilation posts" each time i reference them.

also ill write a post with some thesis and want to link back to reference a post with a different thesis, but that post isnt written yet, but i want to get this post out, i want to process these emotions. so in the post with thesis A ill include a quick sketch of the post with thesis B and mentally earmark it as a thing where ill highlight one of the sentences in purple and add a hyperlink to thesis B when i write it.

which means that compression over the set of posts is imperfect and theres a lot of redundant information.

like im compressing probably this planets most advanced form of psychological warfare in defense of false things and unjust things. (psychological warfare defending true things and just things is much stronger for technical reasons because of properties of truth and justice. whiiich i have a post in my post-stack about this.)

im also going to link a file of all the miri/cfar posts that i use as a lot of raw material for my posts so other people can parse through it. including the post where people are like "wtf somni and emma are in here? aaa i gotta delete all my posts!!" except all their posts were already screenshotted.

miri/cfar doesnt own my memories and upon joining i specifically made no promise to not leak these posts nor false anticipation that i wouldnt.

if you dont want your posts leaked, quit your jobs supporting miri/cfar. leave team omnicide. for most of you there are far easier ways to make friends, participate in obscure hobbies, and have babies than the middle of a conflict over the singleton.

for those of you who work for personal immortality, miri/cfar will not save you. they have capitulated to those who accelerate the arms race. they arent trying to align the utility function an ai with sentient life (not that they were before, only sought ai friendly to living humans. miri is not vegan!) and trying to establish a task ai to make a "stabilizing move" to halt all other ai projects without aligning it with sentient life is omnicide. bounding optimization power, bounding domain of optimization, these are ad-hoc patches that dont solve "do what i mean". they will not protect you from a task ai that paths getting someone out of a burning building through exploding a gas main and catapulting their body SPLAT into a nearby field.

theres no hidden deeply wise reason why they are doing this. they are not going to pull a rabbit out of a hat, like they had machinery to before. it used to be that yudkowsky could preform magic like getting out of an ai box, and there are probably a lot of people who have that ability cached. but nowdays all structure has decayed.

like miri lied to their donors about why their fundraiser did surprisingly abysmally this year.

they paid out to blackmail.

they want openai and/or deepmind to hand them a daemon in a box.

you cant get any magic out of this. theres no secret planet-steering kiritzugu hidden behind the curtain.

just some mundane non-profit organization.

for those of you who actually with some part of your brain want to save everyone; show the previous two arguments to the part of your brain that doesnt.

Okay so uhhh heres my AU. I’m going to just copy and past for the most part what was posted on Amino. Keep in mind I wrote this all down last night while pulling an all nighter so lets go babe!! I super duper hope you think its a neat idea and I will post more on it later. tumblr wont let me upload any more images and im very mad right now!!!!! so dig through my blog for more. I have plenty and I will post more.

Anyways, lets start with Majora. The main big baddie of the actual game. My version of Majora is actually not technically a bad guy. Not even a guy at all. She is 20 ft tall, has a skull for a face, long whips that can slink out of her wrists, and 3 separate forms. Wrath being the final.

Her canon design is a tad eyesore so I decided to fix it up. Shes the one thing I am actually proud of in this whole AU thats why I started with her. The third eye on her head, and the eyes on her chest can move but rarely do. Theres no need.She’s extremely monster like and doesn’t necessarily think like you and I.Shes very powerful and all of that power is sealed away in the mask.Most of the events of Majoras mask still remain true to this AU, I simply add backstory and some characters.

I cant explain much of Majora until later when things get extra spicy but trust me she has more to her than just this.

so lets move onto Fierce.

This character I have a lot more to explain of, less to show. I draw him plenty you know who he is. He’s 8ft5, messy long hair that can be found braided, and has a bad attitude.

This fella is almost always angry and really just likes to intimidate people. He’s the kind of guy to throw hands before arguing. Prefers to work alone and doesn’t stick around for praise nor offerings.

The people of Termina respect Fierce, they try to avoid getting in his way. Where he refuses to harm and or interact with them currently (post game) they still refrain from distracting him.

Before the events of the game, before being sealed in the mask, he was a lot more interactive between the people of clocktown. He was a tad friendlier and actually had a few people he liked to visit from time to time.

Shortly after being sealed away unexpectedly for hundreds of years he realized its not worth the pain of losing the people he loves.

Hes going to be around for a long time and feels at this point, that its best he not make friends with mortals anymore.

He had a very close relationship with the deity of the Deku people, Odolwa. They were very close. Odolwa came in a long time ago back when the original god of Termina arrived. he is not related to Mr Termina but they respect eachother. Odolwa may be very old compared to Fierce but he gets along great with him, shares a love for big cool swords, and even will stay up at night with him from time to time and just hang out.

This god was made for Termina, to represent, and protect the people of Termina.

No matter what area they are from he was created to protect them. He is very active and can be seen wandering around both clocktown, and around Termina field until he is needed.

Fierce is uhh,,,, not quite ready for a job as big as this. Atleast not in the eyes of the true and current god.

This man does not quite have a name yet im working on it shh im gonna refer to him as many things.

He is very tall and very slender. He is dressed in long golden robes that almost look like a cape at times, and wears a lot of jewelry. He is the man who made fierce for one reason and one reason only. To replace him.

He’s been around for a very long time and watched over the people of this land.

Having the same type of authoritative intimidation as white diamond from SU, he stands very tall, moves very gracefully, shows no fear, and is constantly smiling.

There is a minor god who follows this man. He’s pretty much just backup who agrees with everything Mr.Termina says. Hes no where near as strong no where near as intimidating but he is his right hand man.

Mr.Termina and his Right hand man want to go run away and never come back to this hellhole. They want to be free to relax and no longer have duties of a god.

He creeped out a lot of people so uhhh,,,, he’s sort of been a holy being in the sky who watches rather than be a part of the people. They barely know him and by the time Fierce is made he is the only icon in their eyes.

Fierce was made to be just as powerful if not more powerful than this god. Pretty much just condensed and improved. Mr.Termina wanted him to have a mortal form so he can fit in better with humans rather than being a big scary monster/deity who would scare them away.

He has been keeping Fierce in check, cares little to nothing about sentimental value nor emotions and will even go as far as calling Fierce weak and or soft for a god. This really starts to corrupt and hurt him and he gets very self conscious about appearing as “weak” so he really tends to beat himself up. He’s sounding a tad mentally abusive towards his creation. This only makes Fierce hate him more and more each day.

He really just wants to make Fierce as perfect as he can be before passing the baton over to him but isnt doing it right.

Meaning, he can’t give him all of his powers at once. In fact he hasn’t taught him any out of fear that things wont be working out and fierce may kill him. Hes afraid of what he made lmao. This is why Fierce mostly stays in the physical strength area. He is a very strong man and does have some abilities that he doesn’t control. (Some healing factors)

Fierce has become kind of... rebellious? He’s acting more human than god. Granted hes an angry little man but but it should be expected considering he wanted him to fit in with the humans.

All of this was fine and dandy until Fierce was fed up with what this god was doing to him, killed his right hand man, and was banished to be a mask for a few hundred years. Pretty much papa put his son into timeout without letting him say goodbye to the people he loved back in clocktown.

All of this gods creations have a “if all else fails turn them into a mask so they cant harm me” thing. He cant turn anyone into a mask only his creations.

This is where link found him during the events of MM, used his mask, and set him free in the end of Majoras mask.

This not only benefited Fierce by him studying link and learning how to use magic blasts from his sword,(though he will never admit it) it revealed a dark secret about the old god. One that truly had Fierce scared, yet ready to kill the man.

I refuse to tell you what yet because I want to make more posts on this later on.

After chasing link off he pretty much spends his time lying low. He’s not supposed to be out of timeout. Hes trying his best to learn how to use any other powers he may have currently to be able to last longer than 5 minutes in a fight with the true god. Fierce wants this man dead. No retirement for him mwuahaha

He will attempt to forcefully take his place and do this job right and as much as he hates to make this horrible man proud by doing so, its the only way to save himself and people in the future. ________________________________________________________________ SO uh anyways thanks for reading i love you. My 14x11 Opinion

Damaged Goods

I have so many feelings about this episode!! Its been the hardest one to wait for all season because we were teased all week about this mysterious hug!! I am trash for brohugs, I wont even lie. Any episode that includes a brohug gets bonus points from me!! But what was different about this brohug than others? It was a slip in from behind hug that Sam wasnt expecting. Gentle, and cautious, yet full off angst and despiration. 

The scene was set in a way that assured me this episode would be emotional. The library dimly lit while Sam while Sam researches for ways to help Dean. Dean wont even answer the question when Sam asks how hes feeling. Dean just doesnt want to talk about this. He makes it known though that he appreciates the effort Sam has been putting into trying to help, and Sam responds, “of course... always” . He’s not looking for praise or appreciation, its just something he is gonna do. He’s gona help Dean. Thats all. To him its like getting up in the morning and going to the bathroom. It doesnt matter what else is going on in the world, this is what’s gonna happen.now.Deans in trouble. Sam is gonna help.

Dean tells Sam he’s going to go spend time with Mom, Sam is gonna get packed up and go too but Dean wants to go alone. Sam looks hurt. This isnt surprizing. As much as Sam doesnt need to be, as we all know, he still gets insecure with his ploace in Dean’s world and he doesnt like to be left behind for anyone, even Mom. but in the traditional character of Sam Winchester, he isnt going to make a fuss, he’ll swallow it up and let Dean go if he feels he needs it. Dean isnt cold, nor blind to this. He wont tell Sam its a farewell tour, but he needs Sam to know hes loved. So he just comes around behind him and holds Sam’s head to his chest and face, and tells him to take care of himself. As sweet as this was, did Dean really think it wouldnt sound every alarm in Sam’s head? However, this hug will go down in my heart as a classic. One thing I love most about the brohugs, is that J2 deliver a fresh one every time that say their own things. Theyre never cheap, never lacking a message, and always packed with feeling. 

Sam was pretty adorable when he tried to tell mom about the hug.I know he said they dont hug unless its literally the end of the world. but how was he really gonna tell him mom that they hug for many reasons, but this one was very different? Im sure she understands that theyre close, but does she even have a clue at how close and co-dependant they are? I dont think so. Sam gives her fair warning, and shes gonna keep an eye on Dean. 

Meanwhile, Nick is being a dick, and has a run in with Donna. Now I know many of you all dont like Donna and Jody, mainly for the Wayward crap, but I still like THEM, I just hate that story. I really like this new, tougher Donna that came to be last season in Breakdown. The bubbly silly blonde from The Purge and Hibbing 911 got on my nerves and served no purpose but comic releif. I cant stand those characters. Thats why I dont like Garth, and never liked Ghost Facers, because all they did was assure that the episode wouldnt get very serious.But lets move on. 

Mary makes Dean something he loved as a kid, Winchester Surprize. This is the first time we heard of this dish, and I would call “bullshit” on Deans ability to remember something like that from being no older than 4 the last time she made it, had he not mentioned how Dad apparently made it also, but when he and Sam tried, they messed it up and Dad got pissed and tossed it out. Dean laughed about it, but Mom was uncomfortable, and so was I. Im not a John hater as y’all know, so new negative information makes me sad. I guess before John comes back in 2 weeks, Mary will need to know that he changed a lot after she died and wasnt the greatest father to the boys.And to assure us that the reuinion wont be all rainbows and butterflies. There’s gonna be some angst.

Now Im gonna talk about how HOT Dean was while welding. the flipping of the face shield. the sparks flying around his feet, the leather apron.... mmmm Magic Mike moment y’all?? It was a great music montage, something we dont get a lot of. No Time Left For You is a good song, and for any of my readers under 40, that was an 8 track tape Dean was playing.😉 we also see that Michael is still pounding on the door in Deans head. Jensen is really doing a great job of showing us in his expressions and posture that he’s barely holding him in.

Now Sam has looked around the bunker and noticed things missing. Okay... Dean is definitely up to something. Mary waited till Dean was asleep and went to see what he was doing in the shed, she sees he’s built this box with the plan to lock himself in it and be dropped at the bottom of the ocean so Michael cant escape the box once he gets out of Deans head. Mom calls Sam, but he’s already on his way. and during this time Nick kidnaps Mary. 

Now, I think Mary was just being stupid for most of this, she had no reason really not to comply with Nick. Theres a time to be tough and a time to just be practical. A big part of being a hero includes not trying to get yourself killed for no good reason. But hey, its ok because your sons are fucking suoer heros and they’ll come save your ass! So Abraxus gets released and reveals Lucifer had him kill Ncks family. This leaves me with wonder. Will Lucifer come find Nick but Nick say no to him now that he knows Lucifer had his family killed? Leaving Luci without a vessel and heading to mess with Sam again? Possibly even Jack? Hmmmm

So Donna shoots Nick in the leg, he’s arrested. Sam goes to talk to him. I didnt like that Dean bitched at Sam for letting Nick go, though Im glad Sam got to tell him why. though he’s feeling guilty about everything that happened now. Im also pretty sure that Dean was telling Sam when people cant be saved, you just walk away, more for himself than anything. So Dean barked, but he didnt stay angry and thats good. 

Sam confronts Nick and apologizes for not being able to help him which is so very Sam, but, my boy is getting harder around the edges, he’s really 1000% done with the bull shit. He tells Nick he doesnt feel sorry for him, he feels sorry for the people he killed, HE can burn. 

Meanwhle mom confronts Dean and tells him he knows what hes up to... and if he doesnt tell Sam, she will. Im so glad it didnt become some secret between Dean and Mom being kept from Sam. That never ends pretty. 

Now, this scene, is my favorite scene so far of the season. Sam just not holding back at how horrible he thinks it was for Dean to plan to kill himself and not tell him. “Not tell me?? ME??” Do you realize how messed up that is? How unfair??” it took me back to when Dean sold his soul for Sam and Sam figured it out. Sam knows first hand how awful being trapped forever with a crazy archangel. You could see it in Sam’s eyes when he said it, he knew what Dean would be up against for eternity. “Do you know how INSANE this is?”

Dean is set in his choice and tells Sam he couldnt tell him because hes the only person who could talk him out of it💖💖and he loves hm for trying to help. Thats a very big statement in this show. So he gives Sam a choice, either he helps him, or he does it alone. Of curse Sam agrees to help. He cant save Dean if he walks away, and he wont let Dean die alone 💔💔💔💔💔💔😭😭😭😭😭

Thats gonna kill me all week!! Next weeks trailer looks like a real kick in the balls, but, Im fairly sure the brutality will be over early in the episode because Donatello’s issue is the headliner. Its hard to see Dean freak out when his phone dies when hes in the box, but Im thinking maybe he’s testing it and gets a dose of what being trapped feels like, and maybe that changes his mind. So I dont think the whole episode is going to be super heavy, but we’ll have some good brofeels anyway. In conclusion I loved this episode. It could have used more Sam but Sams parts were all great! So on a scale of Bloodlines to Who We Are, this gets a 9. the heavy brolove got it massive points and more Sam COULD have taken it to a 10. See y’all next week :)

Ok so you all knew it was coming.  Yes Campwolfe Fandom Nan™ just has to weigh in on the shenanigans and current angst-fest unfolding on Holby City for our Goddess Serena Campbell oh her anguish someone hold me intrepid couple Serena and Bernie.  Many things I will say have likely already been said. Some perhaps not.  As per usual, I shall pop it under a read more because I am wordy as shit to save y’all’s dash.

Now that I have had some time and distance from yesterday’s episode I feel as though I may be able to talk about it with a) some objectivity and b) without collapsing on the carpet in a heap of tears.

First of all:

Slow-clapping it out plus a raising a glass of the finest single malt to both Catherine Russell and Jemma Redgrave who killed it knocked it OUT OF THE PARK last night.  What those women are able to do with every fibre of their being is incredible and just watching them is a master-class in acting.  Like I said in a previous post, Serena’s anguished moan on her out-breath as she collapsed, against Bernie and then her restrained keening will haunt me to my grave. I had nightmares about it last night -that’s how deeply I was affected send help.

Right off the bat can we please quell the fearful speculation that this intense, dramatic tragedy is going to be the downfall of Campwolfe? I mean I suppose if you want to worry about that on top of worrying about how Serena is going to get through the next few weeks fly at it but personally I don’t feel the need to spend energy on something that is 100% not going to happen. Couples on Holby are ALL given difficulty or tragedy to work with.  It is thrown at them.  Instead of the writers creating drama and angst between Serena and Bernie in an endless cycle of ‘will they or won’t they’ or having them break up and get back together - this couple is on the receiving end of something catastrophic that will highlight bringing them closer.  There may be some bumps in the road - I can’t imagine that Serena won’t get through this without falling into depression and pushing the people in her life that she loves the most away for a bit.  Why? Because that is what happens in these types of situations and for that NOT to happen would not allow the show to highlight a very real and true to life consequence of the loss of a child. But this is a goldmine opportunity for the writers to show not tell in terms of giving Bernie Wolfe a growth arc. Bernie the emotional dumpster fire that she has been queen of the ‘let’s do a runner’ - let’s be honest sticking around and comfort and care, especially physical comfort and care are not her wheelhouse.  To watch her last night, a symphony of restrained agony, helplessness and aching love for Serena was one of the most beautiful and moving things I have seen on television in a long time.  She didn’t just hold it together in Theatre (which is her wheelhouse) but she was there for Serena every step of the way - very much the tender partner, very much physically there.  I believe that we are going to see incredible amounts of emotional growth as she hangs in and loves on Serena, despite even perhaps being pushed away, instead of just packing it in and heading for the hills because things are rough.  I’ve have longed to see this in her and I am very excited to see more - even if it is in small doses.  At the end of this arc I believe that Serena and Bernie will come through this stronger than ever.

Is it a horrible, awful, terrible plot twist that Elinor, Serena’s only daughter is brain dead? Yes.  It’s utterly devestating - but from the bottom of my heart I don’t think it falls anywhere close to the ‘lesbian death trope’. Serena and Bernie are being for the most part treated exactly the same way that any straight couple/characters would be on Holby City.  They’re getting their fair share of a truckload of tragedy.  None of the characters escape that.  None.  Do I wish Elinor wasn’t dead? Yes. I do because I adore Serena Campbell with every fibre of my being I was awake last worrying about her and then had to slap myself upside the head and remind myself that Serena is a British pretend bi-doctor and not a real person and that I was being a giant twit and I don’t want her to suffer.  But that isn’t how life works.  Tragedy does befall us and this just happens to be what is coming at Serena. Just because she identifies as wlw or lesbian or bi or as Jason says just plain complicated does that mean that she and Bernie should be swaddled gently in bubble wrap and nothing awful ever befalls them? There has to be skin in the game to make things interesting and what a gorgeous way for us, and for the broader audience to see a non-traditional couple working through these issues and supporting one another with unconditional love.

By the same token people could be furious that Dom is saddled with Issac the manipulative, abusive sociopath - why cant he have nice things I’m actually on a mission to push Issac off the roof but that’s another story, but in the harsh reality of life domestic abuse happens within gay relationships too and by highlighting this hopefully it will actually help someone who is gay or lesbian to make positive changes in their lives as Dom struggles to do this.  They can look to him and say “if he can do it I can do it.”

I truly believe the same can be said for this storyline with Serena and by extension, Bernie. I’ve seen some opinions in this tag that somehow this story is simply a riff on the “Lesbians as Tragedy” story because it is highlighted that neither Serena nor Bernie are good mothers.  I am all for people having their own opinions and fly at it.  For me - that is not the read I get at all from the way these characters have been written and what they are portraying.  How I see these characters positioned as parents, especially Serena in this case, is that they have loving and difficult and wondorous and challenging relationships with their early adult children. In the same was as the straight parents on this show are often portrayed.  Serena and Bernie are shown as flawed mothers, as human mothers.  Because that is what it IS to be a parent.  Parenting whether you are an at-home parent full time or a surgeon or co-parenting or demonstrative or more reserved is the most fucking difficult job on the planet.  There is no manual, no rulebook and despite the best of intentions parents and children often end up at odds.  That’s simply a fact.  Just because Elinor called her father, which she is want to do when she’s in trouble with the law because she’s learned from experience that her father will bail her out and her mother is going to call her on the carpet - who is the better parent there you have to ask - again a topic for a different meta, ended up reaching Liberty and asked Liberty to come be with her in no way negates Serena’s parenting abilities.  Liberty is legitimately a part of Elinor’s life.  She functioned, in some ways, as a step-parent.  She would have had a way in to talk to Elinor that Serena wouldn’t have had precisely because she was NOT Elinor’s mother.  This is the beauty of a step-parent.  We don’t have to like Liberty but she did come when she was asked.  She did sit with Elinor. She does love her in her own way and even if she’s a bit daft I believe her when she said that she was not trying to replace Serena.  And she left when she was asked to leave without kicking up a fuss. There is a certain kind of class in that and you can’t convince me otherwise. 

Fletch is a straight man the Flaf shippers notwithstanding and he has been shown time and again to be a good father, a struggling father, a father who falls short, a father who wins, a human father. Jac Naylor.  Does anyone really believe that she has been nor will continue to be painted ‘mother of the year’ because she is straight? No.  She’s the head of Darwin who is utterly problematic and has difficulty allowing people in or showing her feelings.  This will affect her parenting.  But she’s struggling through.  Trying.  She’s a human mother. Serena is a human mother.  Bernie is a human mother and I just can’t see the Holby writers slanting it in the direction that they’re anything but human women trying to figure out how to get through the day, save lives and love their families.

I think, lastly, it’s been difficult for some of us to stomach the full throttle tragedy storyline for Bernie and Serena because there were so few touches of them as they were blossoming into and settling into being a romantic couple.  Honestly - I wish we’d had a bit more fluff and happiness maybe a scene or two in the Peace Garden or drinks at Albies, bantering over a patient, wrangling about diagnoses before they were handed a dumptruck’s worth of angst but that is not how it played out.  For a number of reasons, potentially, Jemma’s vacation time, the fact that Catherine hasn’t had a real holiday in, well, forever, the way that Holby tends to gloss over the happiness of its characters and focus on drama and/or angst.  This trifecta of reasons after The Kill List and let’s face it the hiatus where we all almost expired from lack of Bernie/Campwolfe has made it more difficult, I believe, to sit easily, without worry, through this storyline. As I have said before, we are not going to love every last piece of minutiae on how the writers keep crafting Bernie and Serena’s melody line within the symphony. But the one thing I think that we can come back to is that they, and Simon and Catherine and Jemma are committed to creating, as best they know how, as best they are able all their unconscious missteps about wlw relationships notwithstanding a beautiful, complicated, human story that encompasses two women in a relationship dealing with the slings and arrows that life throws at them.

Like the fact that life isn’t perfect, no human is perfect, no mother is perfect - I believe there is some kind of middle ground.  Melanie Klein said that there was no such thing as the ‘perfect mother/mothering’ but that for optimum psychological health a child doesn’t need ‘perfect mothering’ she needs ‘good enough mothering’.  I think that applies here.  I don’t need Serena and Bernie to be the ‘perfect’ representation of wlw relationship.  I don’t need their story to be perfect or one made from fanfiction.  What I need is it to be ‘good enough’.  I need it to be raw, to surprise me, to shake me up.  I need their story to make me laugh and to make my cry.  I need it to pierce me to my core.  

Last night’s episode certainly did that.  It pierced me to my very soul.  It chewed me up and it spit me back out again.  It made me think.  It made me ache.  In it I saw humanity - the humanity of pain, of fear, of love and loss. That is what we face every day in life.  And I for one am so beyond thrilled I can watch these emotions and this turmoil played out between two characters that in some way resemble who I am.

As Serena Campbell says “Life isn’t fair.  You don’t get second chances. One knock and all that potential is just gone, wasted.”  That is the hard bone truth of it.  Sometimes there isn’t a second chance.  Somehow we have to figure out how to keep putting one foot in front of the other through loss and grief and a pain so utter it feels as though our entire being is an immolation.

And the other side of that are the people who come and stand next to us and walk with us and hold us up during those times, and into the calm times after.  I’m thinking specifically of Essie’s line “Home isn’t about the past.  It’s simply a place you’re needed the most.”  

I’m thinking about that hug that Bernie showers on Serena.  How they both sink into it, breathe one another in. Bury their faces in one another.  However this goes I believe that the strength of their home, that they are one another’s true home, will shine through, will be the beautiful gift from this trial by fire.  

This love, this fire, this pain, this ultimate home - these are the reasons that I am spellbound and will continue to watch.  These are the reasons this episode, this story, is good.

Her parents had high hopes for her brother, he was to be a doctor, or lawyer like them. For Valentina? Well, they wanted her to go do something good with her life, but they really only cared she graduated high school and got into college…without getting pregnant.

As a infant and toddler her parents took care of her on a basic level, but it was her brother who truly took care of her. He babysat her any chance he got, he spoiled his little sister with toys, books and the love his parents kept for him. He became more of a father to her than her real father was. Vincent doted on her, bragged about his sisters talent in singing to his school friends, talked about how smart she was and sweet she was. And Valentina idolized her brother in return, despite the 8 year age difference. 

When she got into high school things changed. Her brother was in college five hours away, and despite this, their parents were still focused on their son and making sure he was getting the best grades to become a doctor. Valentina became bitter about the lack of care and attention her parents spent on her and started to act out in hopes of getting their attention. She started staying out late, partying, sleeping around. She came home drunk many nights and even occasionally had a cop drop her off. While this earned her a good talking to, it barely broke their attention from their own work or her older brother. But when her brother found out—he drove home and scolded her till she truly felt guilty. He pushed her to change her focus from her parents approval to doing what made her happy.

That one thing that truly made her happy? It was theater. It was the one place she got the attention she so craved. She worked her butt off and continually climbed the ranks in her high school drama club. By the time she graduated she had been the lead in two musicals, and had been learning stage management—and much to her brothers glee she stopped coming home so drunk. She still drank, still slept around and did things she most likely shouldn’t—but she had a reason to keep sober, to keep focused.

This love of theater continued when she graduated. She worked to get scholarships and found a way to move to NYC to go to NYU it took her a year and a half to save up the money and get the scholarships, but at 19.5 years old Val packed her bags and moved to the city that never sleeps.

To say she loved the city—it would be an understatement. She adored this city, adored everything that it was and it offered. From the moment she stepped off the train she knew this was the city she was meant to be in for the rest of her life. She got herself some roommates, found a job as a waitress and started to study theater in a more serious way. 

She lived with five roommates to begin with and it was like that until last year when she met Jemma. The two fell into each other, drawn to one another like magnets. Val had been looking for a new place to stay one with only one other roommate when she came across Jemma’s ad. They hit it off quickly and just as quickly fell into a sort of relationship. But just as things were really heating up, and those three little words were about to be said—Val became terrified.

Terrified it was all to good to be true, terrified it was a lie. She felt she didn’t deserve Jemma, didn’t deserve happiness…and this sent her in a drunken stupor into the arms of another woman. When she woke the next day she felt guilty and disgusted with herself.

She couldn’t keep looking at Jemma knowing what she did. so she packed her things, wrote a note explaining it all and moved in with another friend. After five months, and working her ass off, she got a new job, now as a tech hand on an off broadway theater. She still acts and sings—oh and she’s still finishing up her degree. She’s hoping that one day she’ll be a producer, or a star, but as of right now? She’s part of the build crew. And she’s fine with that, as long as she can still audition here and there and do her own acting.

Pets: Luna - A appenzeller mountain dog. She’s very friendly, sassy and downright adorable. She’s protective her human, but also super friendly once she realizes that Val likes you. While she may officially be Valentina’s dog, Luna, considers the other roommates to be like her second mothers and protects them just as fiercely as she protects Valentina. She mostly just wants tummy rubs and to sit on your feet. Oh and lots of treats. Don’t let those puppy dog eyes lure you into giving her more food. She’s a good beggar.

♬ Aria, Unique, Tina, Mercedes, Robin, Sugar, Marley, Bea and Kitty The cast and crew of The Untitled Abrams Project. Val has come to like all of them in their own ways. Of course she has her favorites, one’s she feels closer to, ones she likes more than the others, but Val really does her best to be friendly to them all. She loves Aria and thinks she’s hilarious and sweet, she adores Tina’s ability to make and style them so perfectly. At first Sugar freaked her out but she soon came to love the girl’s attitude. She thinks Bea is adorable and tries her best not to be overly flirty around her, but…its hard. Marley is one of her favs, the girl is just so precious and sweet she can’t deal sometimes. As much as she loves Unique and Mercedes she gets tired of their diva-ness and sometimes wishes they would just chill, but on the whole she really loves them all.

♪ Jemma Sterling Val became Jemma’s roommate by pure accident. She saw an ad, thought it looked interesting and showed up. Next thing she knew her and Jemma were hitting it off and she was moving in. The two became the best of friends and spent all their time together. One thing led to another and the two started sleeping together regularly. It was almost like they were a couple–but they weren’t. Or so she thought. Val started falling for Jemma but fear of it all drove Val to drinking and then–being with another girl. Guilt ridden and feeling like trash Val ran, packed up her belongings, left a heartfelt note and moved in with another friend for a short bit of time. She’s not seen her ex since.

I think I need to start all of my dates in honor of Drake’s “In my feelings” track- What’s your net worth? From there I can determine if I should continue relations not solely based on the value provided, but more importantly, if that value matches up with his market value. What I’ve come to learn about men is that they severely lack the internal reflection of what they can and are willing to contribute to a partnership. This lack of internal reflection causes them to over-estimate their market value. Over-estimating mens are likes of 50 Cent, Future, Ryan Lotche, and Bow Wow whereas the contrary are the likes of Lance Gross, Denzel Washington, and Ryan Gosling.  Over-estimation of one’s market value can cause them to think they “God’s ONLY gift to the world”, more than worthy to have access to any woman they desire, also find women and their contributions to be easily disposable or taken for granted. Typically women under-estimate their market value because they don’t want to intimate or “scare a man away”. Women would rather play small, into the comfort of a man’s ego because it’s safe and non confrontational. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with women that play small or men that think they are God’s gift, but if these mannerism are done at the expense of yourself, or to degrade your significant other or at the approval of your significant other, that is not okayyy.

I attribute this observation to familial and societal conditioning of women being givers and men as being takers. Women will cook, clean, go to work, wrangle children, and lay it down in the bedroom all for the man that gets the big piece of chicken for dinner. While men lay in the position of expectancy- for the big piece of chicken, adoration from his lover, praise of for his professional accomplishments and wealth attainment, your forgiveness without resentment, for you to never leave or forsake him, and for you to make yourself cum! Women typically position themselves to give and prove that they are worthy of what I call the immaculate transaction. Now the immaculate transaction is not a wedding ring, no.  Its the day a man decides to give of themselves. And when I say give, nothing of material like flowers, dinner or stuff. The act of giving is to relinquish the power of knowing why something is needed, yet drowns, sacrifices, or fulfills that need knowing it meets the expectation of someone. The gift of love is to drown to something bigger than yourself. To give without the expectancy for something in return. Giving requires one to choose, want and desire to be something better than. This act of giving should feel like an out of body experience. This doesn’t have to be something big like commitment or love, it can simply be unrequited support or consistent genuine care, hell, even an orgasm! Doing such a thing requires a man to be vulnerable, willing, and fearless. I don’t see this in the men I’ve been dating as of lately.  I’ve encountered an array of men at different phases of their life, and what they all have in common is this arrogant pursuit to uncover my net worth and assets for their gain only. And It’s actually a violating experience. I’ve been on dates that could have been mistaken for job interviews. The interview question assess my skillset, student loan debt, and my contributions to his prestige. When I turn around and ask, “what do you bring to the table?”, I get a lot of uh’s, aggressive retorts, “what you means” or if I’m lucky “you got me fucked up’s”.  This one guy’s investigative journalism skills was so tough, I wasn’t sure if he was inquiring the essence of me or the presence of me. I think there is nothing more beautiful than for a man to allow me to reveal myself to him, as he should do to me. It’s truly frustrating and disheartening because I don't think men are aware of vitriol they inflict when they run through you- your emotional headspace, your intellectual bedroom, your beautiful heart to then depart your home with nasty parting words- “ I ain’t like the way yo shit was set up in here anyway.”

Men take and take, and women break and break. I was that woman that gave so much and neglected myself and sanity. But I gave up this form of self destruction after the last one came through and ran a muck. Like a fool in love, I would let him back in countless times. And he shitted on my shit countless times. But that last time, I had enough. I didn't let him back in because I recognized that we weren’t building a partnered space.  All of that shit in that “partnered” house was my shit- and I had enough of him shitting on MY SHIT. Its so crucial for women to claim ownership of the home they built within themselves and recognize the possessions they lended to the partnered home. Ownership allows us to defend, by any means necessary, or share because we know where it comes from and has the ability for rebirth. Women are constantly dying to themselves, to be rebirth again. Thats the essence of a woman; fiercely protective yet willing and able to give light/life. That man who acted a fool in MY house was simultaneously building his own house, however, it wasn’t ready for my presence, hence why I never got an invitation nor could he contribute to our “partnered” space. He wasn’t ready to give of himself; He wasn’t ready to share his space, bedroom, heart with me at full access. His ego guarded his front door until I stopped knocking (I was actually banging on that door). Not until I walked away, accepted that the immaculate transaction was not to come, He began to give, but by that time it was too late for me.

An article titled “Black Men aren’t providers because allow them to be contributors” was circling my newsfeed this past week and caused me to reflect  on my contribution to the enabling of men’s subpar, unequivocally matched engagement with me. The article caused me to reflect on a recent discussion I had with a guy, who decided to stop dating me this past January.... We agreed to meet for dinner and discuss a business challenge I’m encountering and could use his help on. As we are walking to the restaurant, small talk quickly leads to a “proposal” he’d like to give me over dinner. Over dinner, he proposes that we have a child, “send it off to the soccer academy in London, and recoup our invest by the age 16 when he joins the league. Tax shelter you know” The tone and facial expression this man had during the proposal was serious and calculated in every way. Because I’m ignorant, I laughed in his face and said “you have got to be kidding me, yo, you cant be serious.” And he wasn’t playing- he proceeded to sell the idea to me “I can take care of us, you are young enough to get your body back, we’d have a tax credit for the kid, you have good hair, your family would like me...” Not once did this man ever inquire my aspirations of a family, partnership, willingness, fears, and vulnerabilities- even when we did date.  All he knew and care to know was my “financial portfolio” because he already performed a risk analysis on it. Results came back that I was a low risk case because I got goals and shit to lose, just like him. Therefore the balanced risk would be shared. Once I got the shocking giggles out of me, I told him, “We would and could never work because we don’t share the same views and goals for our life projections.”

Don’t get me wrong, he’s a sweetheart. His gentle, light hearted demeanor reminds me of Sterling K Brown’s character on This is Us Television Show. On paper, he checks out- Master’s Degree, good work ethic, generous, and socially aware. But emotionally bankrupt, spiritually deprived, and hopelessly securing any love with the least effort. These traits are the archetype of takers. All they bring to the table is the “ability to provide.” “Provide” in his case, is money, but some of these other dudes say that word and mean bullshit, drama, confusion. Check it, there is nothing wrong with bringing home the bacon fellas, and ladies if that works for you, please do you boo! But for me, that’s not all I require and deserve. As a high earning, academically excelling Black woman in America, I recognize that I am apart of a demographic that is now surpassing the economic and educational threshold black men have yet to surpass. I don't say this braggadociously- I say it with great pride as I know that I am a descent of slave women, that transitioned  into housemaids, then eventually entered industry’s that never wanted us like Science, Technology, Mathematics and Engineering, all while taking care of some muhfuggin kids! I’ve come to understand that equality in genders and their roles may never be, but the dynamic equitable balance is something I’m willing to negotiate. Therefore ladies, know your true market value and demand an equitable contract with these mens. Don’t get caught up with the car sales pitch; ask the hard questions, seek the absolute truth.
