A customer comes up to me with a wide roll of Floriani Wet n' Gone Tacky embroidery stabilizer.

Customer: "Is this really $76?" Me: "Unfortunately, yes." Customer: "I can get some offbrand stuff on Amazon for $45 for twice as much!" Me, who has made that decision before: "I did that, actually. I got some offbrand stuff for $45, and I can't use it. There's three big problems with it." Customer: "What are they?" Me: "Well, first one is that it's not tacky, so I have to still baste it down anyway. The second one is that when you get it wet, it doesn't n'gone."

#the customers who usually ask questions like this are people who bought 5-figure sewing machines #and they're totally happy to pay $85 for something if you can prove that it's better than getting it off amazon #it's about the value and not the money #they just need a confirmation that they're not throwing money away #76 bucks for wen t gone tacky is also well below msrp there #every store has something that they mark up at 80% and wet n gone tacky isn't that item #our item is the $2 tweezers impulse buy #because when we sold them at our standard markup the price was so low #that people asumed that they didn't work and wouldn't buy them #they're good tweezers brett #green store markup on some premium cottons is like 155% IIRC #most seasonal floral at green store is marked up at like over 200%#today at work

Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless

On an unrelated note, I've been chipping away at converting the "important" items from Monster Hunter for use in Fabula Ultima. Pic related, it's basically one of the ways I'm choosing to emulate ammo from MonHun into FabUlt. This is maybe the biggest homebrew project I've undertaken? Like, I'm writing up several methods of simulating MonHun items for FabUlt in varying degrees of complexity, so people can pick and choose how crunchy they wanna get.

All from me for now, real life has been kicking my ass recently. Stay frosty, o' ye internet stranger.

I just had to explain to an adult who is not the first and won’t be the last that FedEx does not build sheds or assemble furniture “but I didn’t buy it from FedEx, I bought it from you!” our in house carrier isn’t going to make a special trip to build your shed because you didn’t read the item listing and/or made a really nonsensical assumption

i discovered stardew valley mods pretty early on playing (but i think i already finished the community center by then) and it irreversibly changed my experience and i still can't tell if it was for the worse or not. like i used the cjb item spawner to get so much gold and got endgame items with it... a few years later i would use the same cheat commands on the same save to have. less gold. to actually have to work towards goals

#spud.txt #idk if this is terribly interesting #the recent update broke a lot of mods and i took the chance to cut down on mods. if not counting content packs like reskinning stuff i only #have 25 mods #counting everything i now have 85 when it used to be 200+#when 1.5 happened i actually used cjb to spawn in all the clothing items. and then json assets broke all the custom clothing i had in 1.6 #so i threw away the whole closet and turns out actually tailoring the clothes is so much more enjoyable...#it's so easy and tempting to bypass game challenges using mods like you can freeze time in caves and clear 100 desert floors that way #this isn't a dig against modding though i just wish i got into it later in my sdv career so i would leave some challenges for myself #mods can add new content like locations and characters and dungeons it's really neat #the update also got me thinking about. all the modding drama that went down. and turns out it was at least 3 whole years ago #idk the minute details but i think it started with sdv expanded who got caught including other people's mod content in paywalled files #this spread to nexusmods and partially sdv discord mods who defended the sdve author #and then nexusmods did the whole mod collection thing that threatened to zombify people's mods even if they took their stuff down #this led to a mass exodus from nexusmods and to moddrop #i think a lot of people have gone back to nexus though i wonder what happened #i feel so old...
