i'm back in colorado for a work trip that happened to coincide with my parents vacation which means i'm dog/house-sitting for them. this means i get unsupervised access to the hot tub >:)
#i live in a tiny duplex in a rough neighborhood so coming here is such strange whiplash#especially when they aren't here#to be fair they got very lucky with finding this hot tub on fb marketplace for an incredible bargain#still. there's no universe in which i could ever own a home. a hot tub is out of the question.#neither of my parents went to college. they didn't have wealthy parents. they aren't even considered 'wealthy' - they are solidly in the#middle of the middle class. my dad works in the same 'home services' construction-adjacent trade i do just with 20 more years of experience.#however they bought their first house in 1992 for like 30k.#it's truly mind-boggling how much the economy has deteriorated since then.
