I woke up this morning and realised I'm going to visit Guédelon castle next month and I haven't a stitch to wear.
What I do have is a bag full of linen scraps a neighbour gave me last week, so today I'm making a historybounding late medieval inspired dress

Speaking of nail-less construction, have you seen Kanazawa Castle? It's a huge restoration project, and they're really open about the building techniques they used and how they tried to be historically accurate (while accommodating for earthquake codes and such).
Kanazawa Castle (金沢城 Kanazawa-jō?) is a large, well-maintained castle in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. It is located adjacent to the celebrated Kenroku-en Garden, which once formed the castle’s private outer garden. I know there were restoration efforts at the start of the century but it was impossible to find any information on on-going efforts.
