my gender is "doomed by the narrative"
#dangling on the melting edge of sleep#i am having So Many Thoughts about the ending of aw2#and the main one is that i really really really like the initial ending#he's dead and it's in limbo and it's not a loop but also he's dead#there is something...profoundly relieving about being attached to a character who HAS to die#it's the only way things are made right; it's the only way things can become something else#death as a door; as a catalyst#i'm sure this is the catholic in me#remember that as a kid my highest wish when i grew up was to be a religious martyr#so clearly we are not operating with a full deck of ''self preservation'' here#i'm also realizing this is maybe why i just can't care about hob gadling as a character lmao#the dude doesn't die. he never dies.#and he doesn't want to#fuck but that feels useless#a character doesn't have to want to but they should feel it hanging over their head as a constant possibility#it's not that death is what makes us human#it's that death (imminent or eventual or constant) is what contextualizes our narrative(s)
