I don't enjoy or appreciate the way fandom treats the characters as of the current era because it's such a blatant Flanderization of their journeys that it reduces complex and multi-themed characters into three bullet point OCs that wear the flesh of the characters they once were

#dean would totally own a sparkling purse #no chick flick moments guy #that purple dog shirt is sam's entire personality #allergic #this is going out to the new hip and chic spn fandom #guys i love representation as much as the next gal this isn't about whether you'd want dean to be ftm or if you think sam is bi #it's about going #it's about fics saying that he's an emotionally repressed when he actually said that line less than 15 times #it's about people going #it's generalizing cas with stereotypical gay actions because we have to paint on him like a canvas because queer #it's designing an aesthetic on these characters to match some new aged theme that might've worked if this show has been written today #but completely throws away who they are #i cannot tell you how many fics i've read where the only three defining characteristics dean has are #1. he likes cars and pie #2. he's a womenizer #3. he's to feelings #but that's saying that he has no depth as a character when most of us resonate with him BECAUSE he's so complex #it's telling me that Cas is this gay hipster that wears croptops and drinks bobba tea and goes out all carefree #when we know for a fact how uncomfortable he is with being so blatant about stuff like that and how he struggles to articulate himself #it's showing me a picture of demon blood drinking sam and telling me you miss that #or telling me you miss the time where the show only had 3-5 seasons because it was darker #sure it was darker aesthetically but was it better?#you miss the boyking aesthetic of sam and you miss bitch sam and you want him to drink blood out of a caprison #when in reality those are aesthetics taken to the extreme by one detail mentioned a few times to be the characters' whole personalities #and while hc and aesthetics are cute and nice #they're also harmful to the perception of the characters which could lead to harmful representation which could lead to harmful examples #and just. lets stop #chi rambles #spn analysis #spn meta
