as someone who used to be DEEP into kpop fandom and is now a steadfast fan of the nfl -this video literally EMBODIES me

For anyone unfamiliar: TWICE is a K-pop girl group, composed of nine members (Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyeong, and Tzuyu). This particular song is 트와이스 송 (TWICE Song)

OBJ -> Nayeon (she's the oldest member, nayeon's also one of the more well-known members and has a wonderful solo career!)

Joe Burrow -> Jeongyeon (known for her short hair look, has battled mental health issues, i remember that she also had to get a surgery for a spinal disc herniation, kpop is brutal yall)

Ja'Marr Chase -> Momo (japanese, one of the BEST dancers in kpop imo, i love her sm)

Justin Jefferson -> Sana (also japanese, VERY charming and sweet, you may have seen her on an ad somewhere)

Malik Nabers -> Dahyun (her nickname is tofu it's so adorable, one of the rappers of the group)

Jayden Daniels -> Jihyo (leader of the group, her nickname is god jihyo which should tell you everything about this girl)

A random thought I had while hiking earlier today:

In the Japanese Edo period with Samurai and Magic where people wear kimonos and yukatas, Levi is the last descendent of the Ackerman family.

He came out of nowhere, with power so strong he rose the ranks of samurai sorcery so quickly he brought a lot of attention to himself. He leads a group of samurais that consists of males and females. He has a huge traditional Japanese house that comes with a pond, a garden and several buildings.

And he has you.

There is a rumour in the streets that said Levi kept a prisoner in the house, wearing nothing but bells on their feet so they couldn't run away. Whenever they walk, the bells would ring, expising their location. The bells were tied with magic from the Ackerman's power and it couldn't be taken off unless Levi undo it.

But in reality, the bells announce your arrival, and Levi would always smile when he hears the bells. It is true that the bells are tied with magic, but it is the magic of protection. Levi could track you down wherever you are.

Levi loves it when you tiptoe on the long corridor outside of his office. Hearing the sharp bells ring clear his mind from the endless paperwork. Levi would drop his brush and call to you, "come here, kitten," before stretching his back. He loves seeing you poking your face over the sliding door, grinning at him.

"How's work?" You ask as you crawl into the room.

Levi welcomes you with open arms, "shitty as always."

You headbutt into his bare chest between the opening of his yukata, collapsing into his embrace. Levi tightens his arms around you and kisses the top of your head.

He inhales, "hmm, sakura shampoo today?"

You lift your head and kiss his chin, "bingo!"

And if one of his samurai followers decides to knock on the door now, "excuse me, Master Levi! I hav-"

You would lift your leg and shake your ankle, the sound of the bells echo in the room. You watch as the silhouette freeze, before bowing and apologising for the intrusion, and says he would be back in a while.

Levi would chuckle and kiss your forehead. "Are you having fun playing with my men? You like to see them scared like this?"

You brush your lips against his lightly, "yes, like a cat with the rats."

Levi flips you over and presses you onto the tatami. "You don't play with any man, my kitten. Or else I'll eat you like a tiger." He attacks your neck with rough kisses.

The entire building echoes with the sound of your laughter and sharp bells.

maybe it's to maintain a sense of tension & turmoil that would eventually reach an explosive peak, a sense of tug-of-war, a back-and-forth to hammer home the ideals they want to deliver and for the viewers to chew on, but although these arguments regarding hiroshi & his stance as a man torn between his loyalty for his country & the loyalty for his Filipino friends and lover is of course important, how they write these scenes & the points they present from this week alone is getting too repetitive...? literally the argument scenes from last night & tonight between adelina & hiroshi is basically the same; the ideas were the same, the dynamics were the same: the aggressive, radical adelina, bristling rage and fear over the injustices she's seen thus far, and the cautious, inspiriting hiroshi, all hopefulness and reassurance one moment as a lover, defensiveness and sternness as a japanese soldier in another. this debate will be ever-present ofc, it is one of the series' biggest conflicts, but it is unfortunately so easy to tell when it is a.) being pulled up as a main topic to move the plot along / be a necessary conflict for character development/introspection / be the conflict to deliver the morals & messages the writers want to send to their viewers, or b.) when it is being pulled up only for the drama and filler to pass the time. like watching the characters sit down to argue for 10 minutes, do other things for the plot for 2 minutes, then sit down again to argue for the next 20 minutes. lol.

okay, but with the discovery of a new song, comes a discussion about how much i loveee characters who are torn in between supporting what is viewed as the 'good side' by most others in their canon and supporting an alternative that is starting to make more sense to them either because people on the 'good side' seem to actually not actually be as perfect as they originally thought and/or are openly experiencing some kind of conflict that have to do with themselves (i.e., they aren't truly happy, they are jeopardizing their own relationships to do this 'right thing,' or things just simply aren't fair in their opinion, etc). and i think that is part of why i enjoy talking about this conflict that exists within what i have confirmed to be my favorite member of the mathis family, jack mathis, because although barton's side is OFC not actually a 'good side'... he was brought up to think of it as that.

and he was brought up to also scorn heroes like batman, or more specifically, genuinely good people like jim gordon BC yes - he killed their grandfather and essentially almost ruined his father's life, but at the end of the day, was barton truly better or worse for that? because through everything that his father had told him about his father before him, i think that jack personally thinks that it was only a matter of time before wesley killed barton, and he probably wouldn't even be around today if it weren't for him. but he's idolized in their family + being this specific idea of 'perfect' is. but throughout the years, something has always felt wrong to jack with their family dynamics. and of course, he is right about that BC your father shouldn't be making you helping you kill people with him.

but whenever barton seems to turn the other cheek towards jack and shows him even the littlest bit of love, he hates it, but he always feels like he falls for it because that's all he's desired from his father: an actually healthy relationship where he doesn't have to constantly have to be on his guard around his father and receives love from him. but jack himself refuses to believe that vigilantes don't have their own agendas in what they do — because again, with the way he's been brought up with, love has unfortunately often been conditional and so although he wants to understand how someone could have an inner love for a stranger enough to save them simply because they are kind; jack looks at the way heroes do that and thinks 'there must be something in this for them or they wouldn't be doing it.'

so, here we have someone who's still a kid to me (he's eighteen in most timelines) that is good at what he does, which is mainly thieving but will step up to protect his family when needed... and that's all he's known during his whole life. so, despite doing wrong, because he's been rewarded for it (sometimes) and seeks validation from his father — he feels stuck in between watching people actually do good things and wanting to be like that, but knowing he'd be outcasted from his family if he were to choose that. and besides, 'whenever things are good, they're really good' is the philosophy that jack has convinced himself of thinking. so he sticks around in a family feeling like he OWES it to himself to make it out of doing terrible things his whole life and making that 'light' inside of him happy.

+ it's honestly so tragic whenever i think about it like that BC i really do think that there's a timeline out there where jack finds the courage to exile himself from his family, and he finds himself THRIVING despite there being some difficulty with him adjusting to actually feeling like the 'good guy' and doing things in a (usually) law-abiding way. but that ain't the main timeline right now 😭 and this stream of consciousness is all from st. chroma by tyler the creator, so thank you for the inspiration mister tyler okok
