Blaze the Cat #01
By Charty/Fuse/Eggy(Different names for one person)
Important notes: NB means 'Narration Box', and TB means 'Thought Bubble'
PAGE ONE AND TWO - TWO PAGE SPREAD A two page spread shot of a very large city, looking similar to Pre-SGW's New Mobotropolis, only, slightly more advanced looking, with a slight bit of spanish architecture style.
NB Note: Solus, Capital City
1. Blaze(NB): I have to admit, its been a while since I've been back here.
2. Blaze(NB): Between the various searches for the Sol Emeralds, and having to deal with the doctors, just haven't really had the time.
3. Blaze(NB): Though, after the battle with Cap'n Metal, I seem to have more than enough time to come back recently.
4. Blaze(NB): Something that hasn't really been lost on the seer...
PAGE THREE - THREE PANELS
PANEL ONE A head and bust shot of a somewhat tired looking Blaze, walking along the sidewalk, with a few background characters around her.
1. Blaze(NB): Lahlee...
2. Blaze(NB): Never really talked to her much. Didn't really used to be all that social, to be honest.
PANEL TWO A zoom in on Blaze's face, which starts taking on a concerned expression
1. Blaze(NB): But, then again, I'd like to think I'm better than that now.
2. Blaze(NB): And, from what it sounds, she might have had it a bit hard herself...
PANEL THREE A side shot of Blaze walking along the sidewalk, with multiple background characters around her.
1. Blaze(NB): After all, the life of seer has never sounded all that pleasant to me.
2. Blaze(NB): All the legends and stories make it sound like a grueling task overall.
PAGE FOUR - TWO PANELS
PANEL ONE A shot of Blaze standing infront of a rather nice, pleasant looking, cottage like small house, with her back turned toward us.
1. Blaze(NB): Then again...
PANEL TWO A close up of Blaze's face, eyelids slightly lowered, with an expression that suggests she regrets her concern.
1. Blaze(NB): I suppose with me as her princess, she's had it a bit easier than others.
PAGE FIVE - THREE PANELS
PANEL ONE A shot of Blaze knocking on the door 1. Blaze: Lahlee, are you in there? I hope I've come at a good time.
PANEL TWO Same shot, but, now Blaze is waiting infront of the door looking slightly impatient. 1. Lahlee(From inside): Come in! Tea's almost done!
PANEL THREE Same shot, now with Blaze opening the door and heading in, looking less than thrilled. 1. Blaze: Oh, joy. Tea...
PAGE SIX - ONE PANEL SPREAD PANEL ONE A page spread shot of the inside of the house, with a tarot reader's table in the middle, a small reading room to be a left, and, a partial shot of a kitchen to the right, only showing the back of an egyptian blue(The color) cloak from behind in terms of what we can see of Lahlee.  Both Blaze's expression and body language convey surprise as she looks around.
1. Blaze: Woah! This- This is your new home...? 2. Lahlee: Well, its not as new as you'd think! 3. Lahlee: I actually moved in here about a couple of months ago. 4. Lahlee: I'm still having to get used to it a bit, but, its honestly pretty nice so far!
PAGE SEVEN - FIVE PANELS
PANEL ONE Blaze is looking to her left, body turned slightly, with an expression of curiosity, and slight wonder on her face.
1. Blaze: It is very nice. I think I would hope to have a place just as nice in the near future. 2. Lahlee: Ha! Well, I do wish I could see as you do-
PANEL TWO Same shot, but, now Lahlee's in it, still obscured, and, we can only see her blue cloak, and, her holding a simple white tea kettle. Blaze looks at her with a slight bit of curiosity, but, mostly confusion. 1. Lahlee: But, enough about me! Why don't we go ahead and sit down, and have some tea?
PANEL THREE Lahlee sits down in a plain wooden chair at the far end of the table, and, her head isn't visible, but, now we can see her arms, and, an echidna dread/quill, and, she seems to have a pink lavender coat, with somewhat darker flame-shaped markings on her dreads/quills.
PANEL FOUR Blaze sits down at the chair at the end closer to the door, her head also not really visible, or, at the very least, only slightly visible from the bottom.
PANEL FIVE A wide shot of the table, with Blaze closer to the viewer, but, we can now see that Lahlee seems to be an echidna girl, about a couple of years older than Blaze, with a white face wrap covering her eyes, and, she seems to be wearing a plain egyptian blue robe from inside of the cloak. She has a smile on her face, and is pouring some tea into a cup, while Blaze has a somewhat unenthused look on her face. 1. Lahlee: Now, tell me, how is this 'Marine' I've heard about doing? 2. Blaze: Eh, she's fine. She's a bit trying at times, but, I know she means well. She's still learning.
PAGE EIGHT - Four Panels(All wide shots)
PANEL ONE Lahlee's pouring a second cup of tea, looking a bit amused. Although, you can kind of tell, its the kind of expression that might look slightly smug for someone we could actually see the eyes of. Blaze looks a bit embarrassed, though. 1. Lahlee: I see! Well, if we're being honest, I think we both know what that's like~ 2. Blaze: H-heh, I'm not quite sure what you mean...
PANEL TWO You can't see her eyes, but, you can tell Lahlee's giving Blaze a bit of a knowing smile. Blaze is drinking her tea, mouth obscured by the cup, and, she's clearly trying to avoid looking in Lahlee's direction. 1. Lahlee: Well, I don't know about you, but, I remember a bit of a princess who was constantly asocial, and, didn't think she needed to get close to anyone. 2. Blaze: I-I'm not sure I follow.
PANEL THREE Blaze makes a disgusted face, looking at her tea cup, and, Lahlee just sort of has a neutral expression. 1. Blaze: Ugh! Is your tea always this bitter? 2. Lahlee: Funny, I knew you would say that...
PANEL FOUR Lahlee has a *very* knowing smirk on her face, and, Blaze is sweating a bit, making the kind of embarrassed grin face someone like Tracy Yardley might draw. 1. Lahlee: Which is why I specifically used a blueberry blend from Plant Kingdom, instead of my usual one. 2. Lahlee: You've just had it ingrained as a habit by now to consider my tea bitter, haven't you? 3. Blaze: I, uh- Well, uh-
PAGE NINE - THREE PANELS
PANEL ONE Lahlee covers her mouth, while Blaze is just sort of watching, looking slightly bemused. 1. Lahlee: Heh! Oh, don't mind me, I'm sorry, I'm just having a little bit of a giggle at your expense! 2. Lahlee: I really shouldn't be. Its just a part of you I haven't really gotten to see much of in the past...
PANEL TWO Lahlee's expression isn't visible, we're once again just seeing her from behind. Blaze's expression is a bit bemused.
1. Lahlee: Now, before we get started, why don't you tell me some of whats happened to you? 2. Lahlee: We've barely talked before now, and, I really would like to know about what's been going on with you in recent times. 3. Lahlee: That is, if you wouldn't mind?
PANEL THREE Blaze sighs, looking down, eyelids half shut in contemplation.
1. Blaze: Well...I guess a lot has changed, honestly. I used to be a lot more energetic when I was younger, but, I think I was also a bit spoiled too, since that was before I knew what I would have to do. 2. Blaze: When my parents disappeared, and, your father started training me to become guardian, I know I started shutting myself off from others. I knew the kind of responsibilities that ultimately fell on me. I thought I could handle them all alone... 3. Blaze: Even when Dr. Eggman came, and took all of the Sol Emeralds, I didn't think I needed anyone. 4. Blaze: ...But, then, after going to Mobius-Sonic's World-I started to meet all sorts of new people. I- I began to open up a bit more, ask others for help. Cream, Sonic and the others really started to open my eyes. 5. Blaze: Even when I invited Sonic here, I still had a lot more to learn. Not just from Sonic and Tails, but, even Marine too. She has her flaws, but, so do I. 6. Blaze: And...During the Wisp incident, I met another new person. I didn't think I had ever met him before, but, he still seemed familiar somehow. And...He was nice. Naive, but, nice. 7. Blaze: I don't think I'll ever stop learning how to be a better person and friend, but, I don't think anyone ever does.
PAGE TEN - THREE PANELS
PANEL ONE We can see Lahlee from behind, sipping tea, and, Blaze on the other side, just watching curiously.
1. Lahlee: Well, I'm not really surprised. I knew you'd find people who could find your softer spots inside one of these days. 2. Lahlee: It was always going to be a matter of when.
PANEL TWO A shot, now its Blaze we're right behind, and, we can see Lahlee facing in her general direction, with a wry smile on her face, while Blaze is blushing slightly, and looking down at the table to avoid looking in Lahlee's direction again.
1. Lahlee: Honestly, I'm mostly curious about this hedgehog girl with a hammer. 2. Lahlee: I understand you two work pretty well together? 3. Blaze: W-well, Amy is...Very motivated when it comes to helping her friends. 4. Blaze: I should honestly consider myself glad that I number among them.
PANEL THREE Lahlee has an expression of genuine curiosity on her face, while Blaze is looking upwards in contemplation.
1. Lahlee: Is there anyone from Sonic's World you'd like to get to know more? 2. Blaze: Hmmmmm...Well, I've only seen the princess of Acorn in passing, and, I've heard about a few of his other Freedom Fighter friends. Honestly, I think I'd like to meet all of them eventually, if possible.
PAGE ELEVEN - FOUR PANELS
PANEL ONE Lahlee looks both impressed, and pleased as punch, as she starts pulling out a Solian style tarot deck, with the top of all the cards having ornate purple patterns, with flame markings in the certain, and around the decorated parts of the cards.
1. Lahlee: Well, that is definitely an admirable and respectable goal! I'm glad you're wanting to make more friends these days! Now, I guess we should go ahead and start this, considering its supposed to be the main reason you're here.
PANEL TWO An overhead view, Lahlee goes ahead and places a card down ontop of the table.
1. Lahlee: Now, I don't know what everyone's told you, but, this is a perfectly valid of making a prediction. My father, and all his ancestors before him had various different ways of doing this, and, I have my own way. 2. Blaze: Well...I don't think I would judge, really. Amy has a bit of an interest in tarot cards herself. 3. Lahlee: Oh? Well, it sounds like she's very openminded to things that can't always be explained.
PANEL THREE Lahlee places her gloved hand ontop of the card.
1. Lahlee: Now, let us see what the first one is.
PANEL FOUR Both of them are *looking* at the card, making it debateable of whether Lahlee 100% blind or not.
1. Lahlee: Is that- I-is that what I think it is? 2. Blaze: Yep...
PAGE TWELVE - THREE PANELS
PANEL ONE A close up shot of what seems to be a massive bunch of vines, covering a tower shaped structure, with the words 'The Tower' on the bottom.
1. Blaze: I've been around Amy enough to know a tower card when I see it.
PANEL TWO Lahlee looks to her right, which is on Blaze's and our left, with a look that indicates that she is trying to wrap her head around this.
1. Lahlee: I- I don't know how this could have happened
PANEL THREE Lahlee grabs two more cards, placing them both to one side of the Tower card. Her hand is obscuring them though.
1. Lahlee: But, I know two more drawings should clear this up.
PAGE THIRTEEN - ONE PANEL SPREAD
PANEL ONE Lahlee's standing to the left wondering what could have happened, while Blaze is looking on with suspicion, seeming to already have an idea as to what this could mean. To the right of the Tower Card, the Emperor, represented by a tall feline mobian in Golden Armor, with a giant ornate golden gear right behind him, and, the Sun, with all seven Sol Emeralds around it in the picture.
1. Lahlee: I- I'm the one who drew this, but, I don't even know what it means? How could a Tower, Emperor and Sun be in the same drawing...? 2. Blaze: Well...I think I might have a bit of an idea
PAGE FOURTEEN - FOUR PANELS
PANEL ONE Lahlee looks at Blaze in confusion, who seems to be pondering on something.
1. Lahlee: I- Wait, what...? 2. Blaze: I- My mother used to tell me about legends of the past. Fables and stories about those who supposedly used to live in our universe...
PANEL TWO Blaze looks at the viewer, while in the background, we can see a shining sun, and three obscured shadowy feline figures standing infront of it. The tallest one looking forward, and, the two others facing toward the sides.
1. Blaze: Once upon a time, there lived a Great King, blessed with great knowledge and strength, and power over the sun itself. 2. Blaze: And, as the young king's reign continued, and he grew older and married, he had two children
PANEL THREE A bust shot of a male jaguar, facing directly to the left, wearing a small golden crown, and aztec/mayan style jewelry over his chest, grinning arrogantly.
1. Blaze: The first was his older son. 2. Blaze: He was blessed with the vibrant passion and fire of the sun, and, was considered both handsome and beautiful by many of his subjects and lovers.
PANEL FOUR A bust shot of a female caracal, looking directly to the right, with a red forehead jewel looking similar to Blaze's, and a fancy aztec/mayan style outfit, with her eyes partially closed, and a subdued yet warm smile on her face.
1. Blaze: The second was his younger daughter. 2. Blaze: She was blessed with the majestic, life giving sol energies of the sun, that were reflected in the gems of that era. She was considered not only very beautiful, but, very kind and wise as well. 3. Blaze: Both of them had the same powers from the sun of their father, just used in different ways.
PAGE FIFTEEN - FIVE PANELS
PANEL ONE A shot of the two together, but, younger, playing with each other in the throne room(With a bit of a technologically advanced clockpunk Aztec/Mayan asthetic), looking rather happy and excited, with a taller, more well muscled jaguar watching from the throne with a warm smile.
1. Blaze: When the two were younger, they were just about inseperable! There was only about a year and a half's age difference between them, and, no matter what anyone did, they couldn't be separated for long.
PANEL TWO A shot of the two as teenagers, the male jaguar being surrounded by both attracted male and female feline mobians, laughing a bit, clearly enthused from all the attention, while his sister seems to be reading from some sort of holographic scroll nearby, rolling her eyes a bit.
1. Blaze: Even as the two grew older, and their interests clearly differed as time went on-He enjoyed basking in the attention of others', and, she had an interest in both lore and history-They still remained close.
PANEL THREE A shot of some sort of ceremony, both standing at center of a crowd, with the two sticking their hands into some sort, and not being harmed.
1. Blaze: And, of course, both were blessed by the sun, and, possessed great power over fire and other magics!
PANEL FOUR The male Jaguar shows off, creating rings and cubes, and different shapes out of fire, to an awed crowd.
1. Blaze: Some would say the brother preferred the destructive side of fire, but, he was very creative, and, could bend the shape of fire more easily than his sister and most others.
PANEL FIVE The female caracal creates flames of different colors close to the crowd, who don't seem to be as fearful as they are curious.
1. Blaze: The sister, though, was more entuned with the life nature of fire, and, recognize that fire and heat were a part of life, and, so, could create flames with many beneficial effects, including healing.
PAGE SIXTEEN - THREE PANELS
PANEL ONE As the crowd cheers for the both of them, they face toward each other, and just sort of smile knowingly at each other.
1. Blaze: They were beloved by both their parents, and their people. As long as they remained together, the two siblings were practically unstoppable.
PANEL TWO The brother watches from the back, as a male cat in ornate robes, similar looking in appearance to Blaze, kisses the hand of his sister, who seems to be smiling.
1. Blaze: But, as they grew older, and became adults, one of the king's mages took an interest in, and began courting the princess, who quickly started to reciprocate his feelings.
PANEL THREE A close up shot, the brother's face is a mixture between anger and concern, with his teeth bared to a degree.
1. Blaze: The prince did not like this, and, was furious that someone would try to court his only sibling, but, at the same time, he loved his sister, and wanted her to be happy.
PAGE SEVENTEEN - FIVE PANELS
PANEL ONE The brother points accusingly at the male cat mage infront of his father, sister, and the father's staff and advisors.
1. Blaze: Soon enough, though, it became more than he could bear. One day, he outright challenged the mage to a magic duel, that all the people would see. He would not let this one take his sister.
PANEL TWO The Sister grabs her brother's arm, with tears streaming/flooding out of her face, and a horrified look on her face.
1. Blaze: The sister begged him, pleaded with him to stop! She did not want either her brother or her beloved to be hurt. But, he would not listen. He was filled with jealously, and a fury that not even she could quell.
PANEL THREE The brother and mage face other at opposite sides of a small-medium sized arena.
1. Blaze: And, so it was that the prince and the mage would fight each other the next day.
PANEL FOUR A fiery, yet shadowy aura surrounds the mage, who has both of his eyes closed, and his hands together as he's obviously preparing some sort of offensive spell.
1. Blaze: But, as much as the mage did not want to fight the beloved prince, he could not let himself die either. And, to lose would be to die for him. So, he decided that he would use a lesser known spell, of a type of magic that was consider taboo by many a magic user-
PANEL FIVE The mage sends a blazing, shadowy torrent of fire, right at the prince from his hands, knocking the prince down, with the prince facing away from the audience.
1. Blaze: And, so, he cast a curse on him, one that would force the prince into an eternal slumber.
PAGE EIGHTEEN - FIVE PANELS
PANEL ONE The king(Tall, muscular male jaguar) is shouting at the mage in rage, with tears streaming down his eyes. The princess is trying to calm her father down.
1. Blaze: The king was outraged. He demanded the mage cure his son, but, since the type of magic wasn't well studied, no one really knew how to cure it.
PANEL TWO The king, face obscured, but still streaming with tears, simply points away, basically telling him to go.
1. Blaze: So, since he had taken his beloved son from him, the king ordered the mage banished. He was exiled, ordered to leave through the gates to wander the worlds, with pain of slow death awaiting him should he ever return.
PANEL THREE The princess watches her father the other side of the room sometime after the mage has left, with an expression of clear concern.
1. Blaze: The princess was worried. Knowing her father, he might try just about anything, including using the power of their great sun gems to seize other worlds, so that he might find a way to cure her brother. And, there would be no telling how many he would hurt or kill to that end, in this state of mind.
PANEL FOUR The princess, followed by a number of other members of her feline people, sneaks through the night.
1. Blaze: And, so, one night, while her father was asleep, and the gems were unguarded, she took all seven, and, then, she and a number of her loyal followers snuck through the night, leaving their world behind through the gate, to the first planet her lover had taken. Then, she broke the gate on their side, preventing her father from following. She would make sure the rest of the gates on their new planet were smashed as well.
PANEL FIVE The king sits on his throne, most of the top half of him obscured in shadow, though, he's obviously wearing some sort of golden armor.
1. Blaze: Her father, stuck on his own world, simply bided his time, his rage slowly turning into cold calucation.
PAGE NINETEEN - ONE PANEL SPREAD
PANEL ONE A mosaic of Blaze's world, with the picture of the princess, now a queen, on top of the world, with symbolism of not only grandeur, but, peace and benevolence as well.
1. Blaze: And, so, the princess, who became known as the queen of her new world, ruled in benevolence for two centuries, tethering the sun gems to their new world. She brought a golden age of peace, which remained until she died.
PAGE TWENTY - FOUR PANELS
PANEL ONE Blaze is standing, contemplating on her story, and what she's been told when she was young, and, what she's read since.
1. Blaze: Although...According to legend, after Queen Arteia's death, a cult rose up, and, reassembled the gate leading back to the original Solian homeworld. There's been enough evidence to suggest that the cult is indeed real, and, that we've had to war with the old Solians multiple times over the millenia.
PANEL TWO Lahlee seems to realize something important, which Blaze nods to.
1. Lahlee: Hold on. Queen Lahlee? But- She was the original queen of the Sol dynasty! That means that- 2. Blaze: Yes, it means that we've been fighting those we share ancient ancestors with, for longer than any of us care to remember.
PANEL THREE Blaze has a serious look on her face, which seems to indicate she knows what this means.
1. Blaze: And, if some of these legends are true...
PANEL FOUR A bobcat woman, in technologically advanced, golden colored aztec/mayan style armor, kneels before the throne.
1. Blaze(NB): We might still be facing the old king himself. 2. Bobcat: Sir, our mystics have been contacted by the cult. We should be able to go through the gate in two days time. 3. King: Well, then-
PAGE TWENTY-ONE - ONE PANEL SPREAD
PANEL ONE We can see the king from the story, and, he's wearing some sort of ancient looking, but, still pretty advanced, golden-colored armor. In the bottom right corner, there's a 'TO BE CONTINUED' comic box.
1. King: I suppose its finally time I get to see the measure of my newest descendant...

Something’s rotten in the United States
(Review of ‘Vice’. Seen in Nordisk Film Biografer Aalborg Kennedy on the 15th of February 2019)
The fact that I went to see Adam McKay’s latest film, Vice, just hours after Donald Trump declared a national emergency to aid his desire to construct a border wall in the south, seems tragi-comic to say the least. In Vice, McKay uses his absurd natural talent for telling the obscure stories to unravel former Vice President Dick Cheney’s “origin story” as well as the political reality that fuelled his ambitions and the eternal footprints that he firmly planted in the mould of American politics. Vice makes it clear from the beginning that it will not and cannot stay objective in its portrayal of its main characters - a fact it wittily comments on in a funny, mid-credit meta-referencial scene. Vice will divide people for obvious reasons but I - for one - am a fan of McKay’s incredible narrative skills that makes Vice a wildly entertaining, thought-provoking and (if you are in opposition to Cheney’s politics) anger-inducing feast.
We follow Cheney and the pack of people surrounding him all the way from his drunk, lazy time at Yale in the early sixties to his scary and shockingly ruthless prime under the presidency of George W. Bush in the beginning of the new century. It is a story that mainly takes place in the hidden corridors of American politics where the true power oozes from every crack in the law or established practices. The story about the “creation” of the Bush era’s Cheney is, however, only the bricks that form the much bigger road that McKay and his cast wants to take us on a journey down. Vice is an exposed, witty and often baffling exploration of the decaying nature of modern politics where lawyers, focus groups and officials influences, exploits and even forms the very government that we - the people - are choosing.
At the centre of the film is, of course, Christian Bale, who (as so often before in his career) is the main attraction here; partly due to another mind-blowing physical transformation to match the bodily presence of Cheney. Bale’s weight gain and the impressive work by the make-up and prosthetics team are only details in a powerhouse performance by the admirable Briton. He nails the distinctive mannerisms of Cheney and he manages to construct a marvellous, unscrupulous and multi-layered character that is easy to hate and much harder to care for. It is clear that the film portrays Cheney as a villain and perhaps even a crook (Bale thanked Satan for his inspiration when he took home the Golden Globe); but somehow Bale still manages to inject likeable assets into the character (especially in scenes related to his daughter Mary and his personal achievements). Cheney was and is a character fuelled by a personal drive towards power and influence - you can agree or disagree (as the film wants you to) with his means, goals and use of this power; that is completely up to you. But as with Cheney himself, Bale manages to manipulate us into simply witnessing in - an admittedly uncomfortable and sour tasting - awe as Dick finds one loophole after the other slowly fighting his way to the top, taking no prisoners on his way. One of the strongest and most interesting character studies of the year!
As in real life, Bale’s Cheney is supported by his stern, conservative wife, Lynne, who is portrayed by the always impressive Amy Adams. She might not be given that much screen time (it truly is the Bale show here), but she utilises every second she gets on screen. With her strong beliefs and strong influence on her husband brilliantly conveyed by Adams, Lynne is the lady standing in the even darker shadows as she pulls the strings of the puppetmaster himself. This is made perfectly clear to everyone (including Cheney) in an early scene where she has had to pick the young Dick up in prison once again. With a few cooly delivered lines and a firm look in her eyes, Lynne makes everyone aware of the influence she has on her husband. Together Bale and Adams turns in another impressive couple performance after they stole the show in American Hustle.
Next to Bale and Adams, Vice boasts a stellar supporting cast who not only bears physical resemblance to the real life persons (LisaGay Hamilton resembles Condoleezza Rice to the extreme!), but also delivers some mesmerising character portrayals along the way. However, the strongest assets of this insanely talented supporting cast are Oscar nominee Sam Rockwell as George W. Bush Jr. and most of all Steve Carrell as mentor-turned-subject Donald Rumsfeld. Rockwell’s Bush is naive, comedic and infantile to an extent where you almost feel sorry for him when Cheney and his team order him around. While it is a good performance, I cannot help but wonder how he “won” the awards spot ahead of Carrell, who delivers one of his strongest performances after turning to more dramatic roles. His Rumsfeld is believable and “hateable” - just as the film sets him out to be. He portrays a rollercoaster  development throughout the film as he starts out as a charismatic, yet peripheral when it comes to real political influence, mentor for Cheney and ends up as a dangerous, direct and sly political big shot facing several beatings throughout. When the final blow hits, you feel his pride as reality hits him hard.
Just as in McKay’s 2015 surprise hit, The Big Short, he returns here with this strangely stylistic and absurd mix of dark comedy, hard hitting political drama and hints of documentary. In a way, I am edging towards acknowledging McKay for de facto having invented a new genre here - both films feel distinctly unique and unlike any other films. Just as was the case with his financial crisis revelation, the aesthetics of Vice are sure to be divisive. You have fast paced editing (although Vice is allowed more slower paced segments than its predecessor), sudden inclusions of real clips or pop culture references, and returning situations where McKay skirts the classic dogmas of film making. The fourth wall is broken, the dialogue is suddenly and briefly deliberately stylised, hard-to-fathom terms and expressions are directly explained (i.e. through a hilarious cameo by Alfred Molina) and the genre is changed on the order of our narrator.
Speaking of the narrator, this might be one of few of the returning, successful elements of The Big Short, that simply does not work as well here. The character that delivers the narration here feels oddly distanced from the story and its characters in contrast to Ryan Gosling’s character in The Big Short, who was right in the middle of the story adding a relevance and credibility to his narration. Here, in Vice, Jesse Plemons’ character is never truly revealed and neither are his motives. While this is surely deliberate by McKay (as nothing seems left to coincidence), it did distance me a bit from the story rather than making me more absorbed. Ultimately, the character faces an ironic fate, it has to be said - making the character slightly more approachable. A fate that can be seen as yet another hit at Cheney and his politics’ influence on the American society in general.
The early reports put a lot of emphasis on the prosthetic work made by Vice’s incredibly talented make-up department. Understandably so! It is an impressive achievement to make Bale, Carrell, Adams, Rockwell and co. disappear into their characters through subtle and realistic prosthetics (making last year’s Darkest Hour look like a cheap Halloween party), but do not let this physical achievement deceive you and, thus, make you miss the sharp and important political points brought forward by McKay here leaving you with a bad taste in your mouth.
We live in a society in which we focus on our democratic rights more than ever, but we also live in a society in which a growing contempt towards the political establishment brings all new personalities to the table. It is here that McKay urges us to never forget the monsters that hides below said table, patiently waiting for the publicly elected “guardians” of our democratic rights to lose their focus or let “the political dish of the day” slip through their fingers on to the floor for the monsters to feast on. These monsters are there and we - the people - are the ones feeding them through our choices, our opinions, our representatives. The bad taste in your mouth is your responsibility, it is yours to change.

Can I please have a maze runner ship? My name is Jenna, I’m 5’3 with long brown hair and big brown eyes. I’m shy and quiet but once you get to know me I’m pretty funny and outgoing. I really enjoy music, I play piano,guitar, and violin. I’m into writing and reading too. I’m not that confident but I’m pretty polite. I enjoy animals,nature, and adventure and I’m pretty clumsy. Thanks! :)))))❤️
I Ship You With…
N E W T
• I ship you with the precious small bean that is Newt! You two wouldn’t meet in the Glade because you’re not immune - you’re a citizen in the poor suburbs of Denver, part of the crank resistance with Gally. Since you can contract the Flare at any given moment, you’re always wearing an integral mask and a suit that protects your skin from being contaminated. You help Thomas’s group when they arrive in the Last City and are taken in by Gally, but you never expected feelings to grow for one of them. Especially not for the only one who’s not Immune to the Flare and therefore has the highest risk of trasmitting the disease to you. He doesn’t see your face for all of the first day, but you see his and can’t help thinking he’s very handsome, and fate is way too unfair for making a boy this young go through all of this mess. The first time he sees your face without your mask on is during the first night. He is scheduled to depart on the following morning with Thomas through the secret passageway to WICKED’s headquarters, and you have to admit you feel a bitter tinge of sadness and regret for never letting him know even your name. You’re sitting on your bed, a blanket covering your body from the cold of the dilapidated shelter, when your door bursts open and a figure shakily stumbles into your bedroom. You immediately grab your mask and a gun as a reflex and point the latter at the newcomer… before realizing it’s only Newt, paralyzed in the doorway, his hair tousled from the pillow and apparent dark circles under his eyes. You sigh in relief as he stammers an apology - he couldn’t sleep, wanted to take a walk outside and mistook your door for the exit. You shake your head, not resentful. You can feel him staring at your face, though, discovering it for the first time, and you can’t tell what he’s thinking, but you blush nevertheless. He timidly asks for your name, and you answer in a hesitant murmur - Jenna. You’re already reprimanding yourself - you knew you couldn’t get attached and especially not to an ambulant virus-bearer! Newt refuses to go away, though, and deep down, you don’t want him to.
• The rest of the night is spent talking with him, fighting back the slumber and yawns, and telling him about your life and everything you can remember. It’s mostly you who does the talk because Newt’s memories don’t go back up very far, so when he’s exhausted the subject of the Glade, you take the reins and narrate everything you can remember from your early years, every small detail you have of the world before the eruptions - they’re minuscule, a playground with a yellow swing and dahlias, a rusty subway in a dark tunnel, but it seems enough for Newt, who’s now sitting on your bed, hanging on your every word as though they were a mystic prophecy. Eventually, his eyes darted around your room and noticed the dusty violin crumpled in a dark corner, and asked you if you knew how to play - he seemed genuinely interested, not only wanting to make small talk and gain your trust, but sincerely wanting to know your experience, so you nodded. You added it had been years since you had last picked it up, though, and it would probably be a clusterfuck if you tried to play, supposing that you even remembered how to hold the bow and strum the chords. He laughed but asked if you could show him a little demonstration, a glint of curiosity in his brown eyes. You obliged after a few seconds of internal deliberation, convinced that nothing could go wrong and your crush was starting to get out of control - better give your heart everything it wanted for a night, and then it would leave you alone, right? So you played with delicacy, like you used to do when you were younger and more experienced; the sounds came jerky, halting, dissonant at times because of your lack of training, but you finally managed to get a melody out of the mess of notes you tried. It was very simple, nothing out of the ordinary, but you can’t remember any particular piece that you knew before, and even if you did, you wouldn’t have the level of mastery to play it again. However, Newt looks admirative, as if you had just performed an incredible concerto in front of a sea of people… when you finally put the violin down with a shy smile, he claps enthusiastically, smiling fondly at you. In your opinion, you don’t deserve that much recognition, but he seems so mesmerized by the way you play, the way you talk - by you. And before you know it, the sun rises and Newt is gone, not without a lingering glance in your direction before disappearing in the tunnels.
• Sadly, you two never got together, despite the undeniable attraction and chemistry there was between the two of you. It was simply too dangerous. Newt didn’t want to wreck your life by infecting you with his virus, his curse, and well might you tried to explain that you probably had already contracted the Flare in this rathole you lived in, he refused to bulge. You saw each other in secret, though. You wanted to see him, so one night, without telling anybody, you took your mask and your suit, your gun and provisions, and you jumped in the secret passage to Denver. It wasn’t long until you found Thomas’s and Newt’s hideout. You knew Gally too well, so you immediately figured what kind of place he would choose to hide. The three boys were shocked to see you, especially Newt, who blamed himself for making you come and probably killing yourself - but you told them it was your decision and you were determined to help. Thomas was the quickest to come at your defence, maintaining that any help would be welcome, but you noticed Newt had his teeth gritted throughout the whole conversation, probably not wanting to say something reckless. That night, he came to find you in your room just like that other night, when you met each other and talked your hearts out… until Newt let down his guard. Just for one night, he accepted - just for the last night of his life, he accepted. He couldn’t deny he wanted to be with you, he wanted you. So for the last night of your lives only, he accepted, and you had this one night - and you would’ve wanted a thousand more, but you were ready to take what he would give you. The future was too uncertain for compromises.
• And the day after, you were both found together, laying in your own blood, hands clasped together on the solid ground, in the middle of the fire and the sword, together, just like you wanted, until the very end.

SD Chapter 1
rated m
there is narration,public sex? sub/dom universe, and volleyball owo
My eyes fluttered open, welcomed by the sun shining brightly into them. I immediately close my eyes back and turn to Shoto to avoid the burning in my eyes caused by it.
I take this time to admire his handsome features. He’s gotten so much bigger since we were in college and when I met him at U.A.
I reach my hand out to move his hair that’s preventing me from seeing his beauty. Ah, my poor Shoto. Why did he have to have this scare here...It’s not that I don’t like it but something I love and something that represents him getting over his past even as a hero now. He’s so strong.
I close my eyes and grabs his cheeks, kissing his forehead. “Mmm, what do you think you’re doing?” Shoto’s raspy voice sends shivers down my spine. His big hands take a hold of my waist pulling mine into his own, making me feel his semi-hard cock. I already have a good idea of where this is going to go.
I meet his eyes and push his hair back with my fingers. “Well, morning to you too,” I say with a small smile. He hummed then makes his way on top of me. His bare broad shoulders and perfect muscles and oh his handsome face...Damn, I’m already wet.
“W-wait Shoto I can’t right now I have a volleyball game, remember?” I try to reason with him but he completely ignores me, leaning in to kiss me.
I put my hand over my mouth and instead his lips come in contact with my hand. I cover his mouth and push him up so I can get out of bed. He groans and I just stick my tongue out at him. “Later, okay? I promise.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Oh my god! I can’t believe we’re here! We’re going to play against the Cats, Nekonma!” I grab Shoto's shoulders shaking him.
About a week ago Bakugou, Deku, Kirishima, and Amillia came with me and Todoroki here for my volleyball final national match to represent the USA. This is our last match, winner takes all.
“Shoto! Aren’t you excited? I get to play against the best, baby, the best in America!”
At first, volleyball was just a club to me, some kind of ‘hobby’. But then I got serious about and I met- not even a lot of people here. The perfect people here, my friends I’ve known since U.A. and college. Until this day, I can’t believe they’ve been here to support me and bring me this far with volleyball that we’re in nationals and we’re going against the last team. Of course, Volleyball has changed over the years and people have been a lot more acceptable of others and competitive no matter what the gender. So here we are!
“Of course I am. I’m very proud of you, babe.” He says placing a kiss on my lips. His arm snakes around my waist to pull me into him, his tongue slowly sliding into my mouth but before he could I pulled away. I felt eyes on us in every direction and I was completely flustered.
“Shoto we’re in public..” I wiggle myself out of his arms backing up into something hard. I squeal and launch myself back in Shoto’s arms.
“Oi, love birds. How about you two get a fucking room, yeah?” I sighed in relief realizing it’s just Bakugo. “Bakuhoe!!” I yell bringing him into a hug.
“Oi! Get off of me you Shitty woman! And don’t call me that!” He grabs me by my volleyball uniform pulling me from him. “Don’t go out hugging me in public you fucker!”
“Language.”
“Shut up Icy-hot, I’ll burn you to the ground.”
I snicker as Bakugo lets go of my shirt. “The hells so funny?” He sneers.
“Oh, nothing.”
“Whatever. I invited shitty hair so he’ll be here soon along with that shitty Deku.”
“Alrighty!” I turn around to face Shoto who was holding my bag. “Thank you for carrying my things, you didn’t have to,” I say grabbing my black canvas shoulder bag.
“Well, I’m missing work out today so.”
Ah...That’s Shoto for you.
“Nasa?! Hey bitch!!!”
Oh my god. Have I forgotten we’re just standing in the goddamn lobby? With the rest of the volleyball teams from before..and audience! I totally ignored my surroundings! Damn it for being a reckless Pro Hero! I'm embarrassing my entire team..what kind if libero am I?!
A-arm wraps around my neck causing me to launch forward a bit. “Heyyy! What you two up to?”
“They’re probably planning on how they’re gonna fuck after we win.” A deep voice interrupts.
“Can you guys shut the hell up? We’re in public you fucking idiots.
Now, let me introduce you to the team. Our volleyball team is named Agnes. Camille is just a clown honestly- She’s always goofing around and almost always starts off her sentences with Hey. She’s our left wing spiker. The blunt one, saying we’re gonna fuck and is cocky about how we’re going to win, that’s Victor Agustin. Our Ace. The one getting them in check is Zenobia Apoll also known as Zenny. Our middle blocker, she knocks the sense into us when we’re fuckin up.
“Yes ma’am,” Victor replies.
“Is Darwin gonna be late again?” I roll my eyes and scoff.
“When is he, like not late?” A high pitch voice chimes in, popping her yellow bubblegum and the loud sound of keys rapidly being pressed.
Popping bubble gum, loud typing, and using the word ‘like’. How classic this is. And that is, Jain. Basically, she’s just some emo social nerd. Don’t get me wrong though shes a great setter! Who’s Darwin you ask? The bitch that’s never on time. He always shows up as soon as the match is about to start. He has a carefree attitude, he is a setter.
“Oh look, Stanley and Manjoi are here! Hey guys!” Camille says waving her hand at them.
“Ciao,” Manjoi says with his hand stuffed in his pocket.
“Wassup guys?” Stanley waves back at Camille.
Stanley is our secret weapon, we like to whip him out near end game. Kind of like Darwin. Whoever is tuckered out, we’ll unleash him and completely dominate our teams because everyone is just so damn tired but Stanley is on point, especially with his upper hand servers! Since Camillie is the first to get tuckered out, he usually plays Left Wing Spiker. Though he isn’t into volleyball like us and he sometimes doesn’t show up for games at all- He’s has soo much potential and he’d be put in the game way more if he’d give it his all. Manjoi is our Right Wing Spiker. (Opposite) He’s just super chill.
Todoroki groans grabbing me by my wrist. “Shoto?”
He drags me down the hall to the restrooms.
“Huh?? Where are Todoroki and Nasa going?” Camille questioned bringing her finger up to her lips.
“I told you they were gonna fuck,” Victor says a laugh following right after it.
Zenny slapped the back of his head and Victor's hand instantly shot up to his head. “Dammit, Zenny!”
“You’re so annoying Vic,” Jain said popping her bubblegum.
My teammates' voices grew weaker and weaker as we reached the Restrooms.
“Hey, Shoto-” He slammed the male's restroom door open dragged me inside. He sat me on the countersink and before I could question him again he presses his lips against my own, pushing his tongue through.
Our tongues battled for dominance, his hands gripping my ass. Groans and low pants left his mouth as we parted for just a moment, his lips attacking mine just as fast as we parted. I could feel my panties began to dampen, his crotch grinding onto mine. I pulled from the kiss his teeth clinging onto my bottom lip. “S-Shoto anyone can just walk in right now, I promised you we can do it later.” The sentences almost came our breathlessly, my mind completely mushed from the little make out I just had.
“I don’t want to wait.” He breathes out his tongue trailing up my neck to my earlobe, his teeth gently biting down on it. Soft whimpers escape my mouth as a result of my poor attempt to hold back my moans. He grinds his hard-on onto me as he moves his mouth down my neck, biting and sucking on my neck. I tilt my head on instinct for my Dom.
“You’re going to leave marks...I have a game in a couple, Shoto.” I say, slowly grinding myself back on to him, the sexiest groans leaving his lips. When he’s finally done marking up my neck, he lets his wandering hand travel up my Uniform to my breasts.
“W-wait, no!” I protest, grabbing his wrists to pull his greedy hands out of my shirt. His eyes meet mine and I can’t help but feel intimidated and pressured under his gaze. “ We’re on the men's bathroom sink and I have to get to my game remember! I told you-”
“When the fuck do you think you’re talking to, baby girl?” He interrupted, a low growl erupting from the back of his throat.
He’s quick to pull me off the counter and bend me over it. “Guess I need to remind you what your place is.” His fingers wrap around the waistband of both my panties and my shorts.
“S-Shoto!” I tug my shorts back up, backing myself onto his hard-on, an attempt to distract him. A low groan leaves his mouth his hand coming down on my left ass cheek. The hit sent a sharp pain through my body, hitting hard on my asscheek. A soft whimper leaves my lips, feeling myself getting wetter and wetter by the minute. He’s spanking me at such a public place like this! We can’t!
His arms cage me in, his hot breath fanning against my neck. He began to grind his cloth hard-on on to me, low moans that left my mouth sounded like helpless whimpers.
“Don’t you dare hold your voice back,” Shoto orders me, marking my neck once again. I squeezed my eyes shut trying my hardest not to fall into his little trap, but before I could do anything else the bathroom door was opened.
“Shut the hell up Sh-” The blonde stopped dead in his tracks staring at the scene before him. The redhead right behind him stopped to eyeing us up and down.
“Oi...” Bakugo said, placing his hand on his hip.
“Hey, guys.” Shoto greeted, backing away from me.
I got off the sink hiding behind Shoto. Oh my god, Oh my god, Oh my god. My best friend saw me- My Dom on top of me-! Dry humping me!
“The hell are you guys doing that for in a public restroom?” Bakugo asked as Kirishima made a big old fuss about it in the background.
“No reason. The game starting?” Shoto replied casually his desire slowly falling and the dominant side I just saw a few minutes ago- suddenly vanished.
I peek from behind Shoto’s arm to see Bakugo and Kirishima.
“Yeah, it’s about to. Figured I’d take a piss before but Shitty hair won’t shut up about how were you guys where. Never thought you’d be here,” He said in a calm voice as he headed into a stall. “Doing that.” He finished before closing the door behind him.
I immediately ran out of the bathroom, past Kiri into the girl's locker room. “Guys!” I yelled. I burst into the bathroom, throwing myself onto Jain.
“What the hell, Nasa?” Jain says pushing me off of her.
Gasps go around the locker room as they see freshly red hickies littered all over my neck.
“Oh my gosh!! Nasa what the hell is on your neck?! Did Shoto do that to your neck?” Camille gasps as Zenny breaks into a laugh eyeing my neck.
“We didn’t bring any make-up babes!” Camille says cupping my face.
“O.M.G. The reporters are like so gonna be all over you.” Jain pops her gum, her eyes glued to her phone.
I sighed and slips myself out of Camille’s hands to change my shoes. I’m so fucked. Only amateur Dom and Sub bonds use hickices as a sign of who they belong to rather than using a collar. It’s already out that me and Shoto are a thing but have never seen anyone of our necks marked. Exposing hickies is considered inappropriate for a Pro hero.
I groan in frustration as I finish tying my shoelaces. This fucking sucks. I told that dummy Shoto to stop! I’ll get him when we get home, if not then another day he will pay. I say smashing my fist into my hand.
Zenny grips my shoulder to calm my nerves a bit. “Let’s go win and we’ll have the whole team beat him up, aight?” She says with a big smile on her face, giving me a thumbs up.
I smile and stand from the bench. “Yeah let’s go kick their ass!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Walking onto the court my heart rate increased. It was huge! It was packed with people! Soon the boys came out of the male's locker room.
As soon as they saw my neck all of them burst out into a laugh. “What did I tell you!?” Victor says pointing at my neck. I groan and punch him on his shoulder. “Shut up you asshole.”
“Nasa what the hell happened to your neck??” Our manager runs to us, his assistant right behind him.
Our manager is Kevin Loon, and his assistant name is Colly Kew. They’ve been with us for about a year now. The teams old manager quit because of the lack of members. Lame right? Though, it seems like Kevin will be leaving us in a couple of months because of it infairs too much with is life as a Pro Hero- It sucks because he’s pretty amazing and he’s been here from the prelims all the way to the finals. We’re looking forward to see how Colly is gonna run things, that little airhead.
Victor opened his mouth to say something but Kevin quickly shut that down. “You know what? Nevermind. Line up, the match is about to start.” Kevin pointed towards the court.
I jumped up and down trying to shake off the nervousness. So many people are going to see the marks. It’s fine, it’s not like it’s out of the ordinary but it is for me...Fuck! No, it’s fine focus on the match. We’re going to play against the best of the best and we are going to win. Just like how we are going to save lives.
The all too familiar beep sounds and the crowd cheers.
We walk onto the court, seeing the other team is already here. Nekonma. Cats vs Unicorns. Damn, all that time fuckin around we could have been warming up. Whatever we’ll still crush em’.
“They’re a little late but Agens made it just in time! The volleyball team know as the destroyers, completely dominating the court with their attacks.” A man's voice booms through the speakers.
I can feel everyones eyes on me, and when they call me on I’m fucked. I’m going to get distracted because of that damned Shoto. I swear I’m going to get him.
A hard smack is placed on the middle of my back. I look back and I see Zenny. “What’s up with the poker face? Isn’t this like any other match?”
“Yeah, why so tense? Is it because of the marks? It’s not like it’s not normal.” Victor chimes in.
“That’s right Nasa, a lot of Doms do that if not a lot then all.” Camille says patting my head.
I let out a breath of relief, happy that I’m surrounded by people that care about me and has my back whenever i need help, they’re always able to give me a push in the darkest times to turn things around!
“Of course.” I reply casually, rubbing my hands together.
“Now huddle up everybody!” Kevin calls out to us. We huddle up and Kevin just does the same old, same old. Encouraging us but also keeping us aware that we will not always win. But for some reason, everyone was so determined to win. Even I, was planning on taking home the trophy.
The buzzer sounds and Nekonma makes their way onto the court.
“We have the Volleyball team here that passed the semi-finals all the way to nationals- and is the team to make it to the final match. Two years in a row they’ve been USA Top Volleyball team, representing us with their godly blocking! Will that change this year? Can anyone see over the wall?” The same man from before voice booms from the speakers.
“First we the team's captain, Neve Alverado, the left-wing spiker! Next, we have Silva Cassian! The team's Libero! Leonard Reid makes his way onto the court quite fashionable, the teams right-wing spiker! We have the team's middle blocker, Blaese Suranne. Neonmmy Tan, he always knows how to get the crowd riled up, the teams Setter! Lastly, in the top three aces, we have the teams Ace, Kellel Tatus! Let's all give applause for their mangers, Elto Sunny, and Tommy Disc.”
Everyone he announced we were all too familiar with, each of them has their own secret weapons- they are the secret weapons.
“The team that we just can’t get enough of for their undefeated title and their attacking- Agnes! Named right after the Holy Unicorn. They’re also known for how many Pro Heroes are on the team. But let's list 'em all off! The team captain, Zenobia Apoll, the team's setter. Known for her amazing blocks and one of the Top Pro Heroes, Nasa Peers, the middle blocker! Another amazing known Pro Hero, Jain Apoorva, the team's left-wing spiker. Next up who steps on the court is Victor Agustin the teams ace, In the top three Aces as well! Manoj Miazaga, the teams Right-wing spiker!”
When he was finally done with his introduction, everyone was in position. I could feel the energy coming from the team right across from me- it shivers down my spine, it made me feel small. To add to that, I could feel everyone’s eyes on my neck.
But I came here to win. Not getting worked up over what they couldn’t keep their eyes off, me.
“Kick their ass, Nasa!” I heard a voice yell over the cheers of the rest of the people. It was Kiri and Bakugo. I looked behind me into the stances to see Midoriya, Kiri, Bakugo, Shoto, Uraraka, and Amila along with Mina, Momo, and Denki! I didn’t expect them to take their time to come here especially from Hero's work!
I grin and turn around to meet eyes with Nekomna’s middle blocker, Blaese.
“We’re going to kick your ass,” I say with a grin on my face.
She grinned right back at me. “Challenge accepted.”
