Personally, I don't mind Prime!Sonic being a hugger, it's a different version of a character, it makes sense for him, sure. (How else would the kids know that he's not as edgy as Nine and Shadow, am I right)

I did really like that the modern adaptations, even the ones that are also quite removed from the games (like Boom and the Movies) kept it as one of his character traits, but you know. I'll live.

What I don't like is the way people defending Sonic liking hugs are saying things that sound very rude and presumptuous towards the people who don't like them. Sonic is a fictional character, but there are people who generally just aren't comfortable with physical affection in real life. And when you say things like "Let him care about his friends!" or "Sonic loves his friends, of course he would hug them!" you unintentionally imply that people who are not comfortable with physical affection don't actually love their friends or don't care about them. This is a hurtful stereotype.

(To op of the tags, sorry for using this screenshot, I understand it was probably said in the heat of the moment, but I wanted to illustrate my point, plus it was very upsetting to read)
