Honestly, this is why I’m more than a little miffed with how localization’s chosen to handle Jugdral’s names. Agustria had Greek names (Lachesis and Ares) but the chose Diarmuid instead of something less assuming like Delmud or Dermott. Silesse’s more middle eastern names (Amid, Femina, Mahnya) got way greekified (Hermina, Annaad). Isaach was the most “Irish” out of the name sets yet Gen 1 was more general Ayra and Holyn (now Chulainn), but 8-4 get rid of the Gen2 allusions (Scáthach and Lakche) to locations ones (Ulster and Larcei) because... the kanji was confusing??? Finn and Tiltyu are from different parts of the continent and have strong enough characterizations to stand on their own feet, just like Arthur has nothing knightly about him.

Like most FEs the characters aren’t beholden to their namesakes. However despite FE14′s Nohrian holy weapons dropping Nibelungenlied names, the thematic events of that myth manifest most strong in the drama of Sigurd, Deidred, and Arvis. Specifically with the memory loss, marriage of another, and fiery end. Sigurd’s name is very fitting, but he’s no 1:1 on personality.

@gascon-en-exil matter of taste, I guess. Personally I like the stir-fry; I feel like it allows for more creativity and original ideas. It's always annoyed me that Jugdral is just half Literally Ireland. Makes it harder for them to build their own identities when I already know who Cu Chulainn and Diarmuid and Fionn and Beowulf and Sigurd and Graine and...you know I can keep going. I already know all these stories and it's hard for the Jugdral characters to establish any kind of unique identity because of it.
