I mainly used TikTok to market my child, but I can't really write too much because of limits and just the format bothering me, so I've turned to Tumblr. I downloaded this app, noticed I had an account already and posted something years ago. I was kind of spooked because I had zero recollection of ever having an account, and the post was cringey as shit.
Anyway! This wonderful little book (240+ pages lol) is a rewrite of two I wrote before. I started writing the first book last year when my gap year started. Thanks to almost zero shifts from my employer back then, I started writing. I got too excited and self-published it. I wrote a continuation of it, then back in March of this year, days before the release date of the second book, I realized both of them were shite. I decided to rewrite them into one book what is now Aftershock. I left the two others to float around the internet because I can (too lazy actually).
I wanted the rewrite to actually have meaning because the first two were written just out of boredom. In the beginning of this year, I read American Psycho. It was a good book, I liked it, but the very brutal violence against women bothered me. I love thriller, crime, and horror books/movies, and in most cases the victims were women. So, I wanted to flip that around and try to break the pattern of female characters getting that treatment. Mariana, the MAIN main character, of my book was used as that character. She's a little bit of everything: weird, violent, comedic, compulsive, kind, thoughtful, and remorseful.
Another thing I wanted was to explore a friendship between a woman and man. Mariana and Aloisio, the other main character, and they have this sibling-like relationship. I rarely see female-male friendships in media that don't end up in some kind of romance. I also wrote these characters as the MCs because I created these two over five years ago, and felt like they needed to see the light of day. :p
Last thing!! I needed to make the list longer for aroace characters. Yes, Mariana is aroace. Her experience and identity is based on mine. I basically used her as a tool to figure out my own identity.
That's it. I really appreciate it if you took an interest in my book or at least read this. Aftershock is available as an e-book and as a physical copy. I get like 33 cents off physical copies which is pretty funny and I just had to let everyone know.

would love to hear more about poly marauders please! 👀💖
Copying @annabtg rather than answering twice!
Poly marauders is lilywolfstarbucks (I've never been able to find a name for them that I like!), and is actually a surprise for @krethes's birthday. Considering her birthday ends in about an hour an a half, i've thoroughly failed on finishing it by then (maybe tomorrow... which I think is what I did last year too).
It's actually a lot of domestic fluff for the four of them. Established relationship among all of them, living in the same house. Mildly smutty, unless somehow the explicit smut jumps out before I finish it (which is possible), but mostly just fluff with the teensy-est bit of conflic.
Snippet below the cut:
***
Of all of them, falling for Sirius was a surprise. She’d fallen for James first. Of course, she did. Loving James was easy. James was made of love and had so much to share. She’d watched from afar as he loved Remus and Sirius, not even suspecting that she could be part of it too until she heard them encouraging James through a date with someone else.
If loving James was easy, falling for Remus was inevitable. He’d waited for her, unassuming and patient, until she’d felt herself pulled to him as well. She hadn't been sure, before then, that she could love more than one man, as though her heart could put a cap on the love she felt. But Remus was kind and sweet, and he cared for her even when she thought she had nothing to return, and she (inevitably, irrevocably) fell for him too.
She’d thought that would be it, and that was fine. Sirius was her friend, and they loved the same men, and that was enough. They called themselves queer platonic and family, but there was no intention on being romantic.
Except Sirius had always been physical, needing touch to keep those he loved close to him, and that extended to her as well. It was a head on her shoulder when they sat next to each other, or pulling her into his lap when sitting around the table, or even with their fingers intertwined while their lovers were on top of them in bed. The longer they were all together, the more frequent and intense the touches grew.
One day, while James and Remus were out together, Sirius pulled her to sit between his legs while they watched a movie together. His hands wandered, busying themselves along the strip of skin at her hips, across her stomach under her shirt, down her shorts until fingers dipped inside of her. Lily gasped his name into his mouth when he made her come, and that was it.
There was no surprise on their faces with James and Remus returned to find Sirius slotted between her legs on the couch, only pleased smiles as they piled themselves into a chair nearby to watch.
“I thought you didn’t like women?” Marlene asked on the next pub night when Sirius snogged Lily in front of them all.
“I don’t,” Sirius said, draping an arm around her shoulders, “but I love Lily.”
There hadn’t been any question about it after that. He was hers, as much as James and Remus were hers, and she was theirs.
