gave my boss a progress update today and his response was "WOW" which i just found very funny and also hell yeah i am appearing competent at my job
#im just deep enough into this code to be really quick at throwing new things together#and there's fewer and fewer things i have to figure out for the first time#or some new feature is really complex but turns out we already have one of the tougher bits accidentally solved pre-emptively#it's kinda whacky like by GOD there's so much code now i have naturally never had this much code#it's super cool cause it sometimes feels just like building some huge toy you know?#like im just making people fill out data and then taking that data elsewhere for reports and charts and tasks#it's all a big toy and so i get asked to make a new part and it can be like let's see i can make this a good experience#let's make this as painless as possible as clear as possible#both for the users and for anyone who might use this code after me#in some ways it's just like.... incrementally making an idea coherent#and when the code is **just right** it can become fully understood without even visiting the webpage it creates#like im always asking myself how can i write this so that it accomplishes my task and so that it's as good as a picture of what happens
